Arthur Leigh, 74 Taken By Death

Arthur J. Leigh, 74, 242 Madison st, passed away at the Newbury Rest home at 3:05 a.m. Thursday morning. He submitted to an operation two years ago, and since then had not been in good health.

Mr. Leigh, a lifetime resident of Oconto county, was born Jan. 7, 1876 in the town of Stiles. He was engaged in farming in that area. For 12 years he was employed by the Oconto County Highway department. He was united in marriage in Oconto in 1904 with Miss Hattie Classon, who survives.

The body lay in state at the Gallagher funeral home and at the Gospel Chapel until the time of services at 2 p.m. Saturday. Rev. James Franklin officiated at the final rites with burial in the Evergreen cemetery.

Survivors besides his wife are two daughters Mrs. Edward (June) Delano and Mrs. Louis (Ruth) Meyers, both of Oconto, and Elmer of Chicago; a brother, Chester of Oconto; three sisters, Mrs. William Chesley, Oconto; Mrs. Effie Cleveland, Oconto Falls, and Mrs. Ruby Kermott, Milwaukee, eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A son Willard passed away in 1922.
