Alva H. SANDERS

Alva H. Sanders, 70, Suring, formerly Kaukauna, died at home with his family by his side. He was born in Belle Plaine Township (Shawano County) on October 14, 1929 the son of the late Alva and Katherine (Carter) Sanders. Alva served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1954. Alva married Alice Tetzlaff May 11, 1957 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Freedom.

He was employed by Thilmany Pulp and Paper in Kaukauna for 371/2 years until retirement and moving to the Suring area. Until recently he had been delivering the Shoppers Guide. Alva was a member of the Mountain V.F.W. and greatly enjoyed being outdoors. He was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Suring where he served as an usher. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, four sons David of Suring, Randy, of Kaukauna, William "Bill" and Robert "Bob' both of Freedom; his daughter, Susan (Stan) Reed of Appleton; three grandchildren, Kelly and Cory of Kaukauna, Shawanna of Appleton. Many nieces and nephews.

Alva was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Oliver, and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Raymond and Grace Schwartzkop, and Katherine Sewell; also a brother-in-law, George Roth.

Visitation was held at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring. Funeral services were held Saturday 10:30 a.m. at Mount Olive Lutheran Church with Pastor Russell Kampfer officiating. Graveside services were held at Community Lutheran Cemetery in Freedom. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
