The funeral was held from St. Peter’s church at 9 o’clock Monday morning. Rev. Pete officiating, with internment in the Catholic cemetery. Those from out of town who attended the funeral were; Mr. and Mrs. Nels Goodchild and Frank and Alvin Goodchild of Laona, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dory of Bagley, Eugene Goodchild (brother of Nels, uncle of Arthur Goodchild), Mrs. Dan Wecker, Mrs. Martha Coppersmith and Mrs. Lilly Coppersmith of Green Bay and Mrs. Jos. Hamernick and little daughter of Menominee. Mrs. Barlament and Miss Laura Goodchild received word Thursday afternoon to come at once and took the first train Friday morning for Laona but about the time they took the train he passed away.
Arthur Goodchild was the birth son of Paul Goodchild (born GOODSCHILD in Howard, Brown County to John B. and Mary Goodschild), and Nancy Goulder (daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Goulder) of Oconto County. They had children; Laura and Arthur (possibly more). Mr. Goodchild died just before or after the birth of Arthur in 1890. Arthur lived with his father's brother, Nels and Hattie Goodchild (also Goodschild) in Talbot, Nadeau township, Menominee County, MI. as a foster child (1900 US Census). Widow Nancy Goulder Goodchild remarried in 1891 to Henry Dory. Her other two children from her first marriage retained the use of their birth father's name, Goodchild. Daughter Laura was found to be living with her mother Nancy and stepfather Henry Dory in 1910, along with 5 Dory step-siblings.
His aunt Mrs. H. M. Barlament, mentioned
in Arthur Goodchild's obituary was Ida Krueger Barlament.

W. A. McKinley was called out of bed on Sunday evening, July 5th, to perform
a very pleasant official duty, to wit: the joining together in marriage
Mr. Henry Dory and Mrs. Nancy Goodchild, both of this village.
