INJURIES INCURRED IN MINESOTA AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT
CLAIMS LIFE OF PIONEER GILLETT RESIDENT

His car involved in a collision Monday near Bemidji, Minn., Albert Gillett, 73, Gillett Village treasurer, was fatally injured and passed away at a Minnesota hospital early Thursday morning. Mr Gillett was suffering from two fractures of the skull and other internal injuries.

Driver of the other automobile, which collided with Gillett's car was Edwin Twomala, with Archie and Hugo Savala as passengers, all residents of Nashwauk Minn. The driver of the car is being held by Minnesota authorities.

Mr. Gillett, at the time of the accident, was on his way to Bemidji with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Alden Gillett of Milwaukee, to visit a cousin.

According to information received by Westley Scutt, nephew of Mr. Gillett, Alden Gillett drove his car into the roadside ditch in order to avoid the car driven by Twomala which was weaving from one side of the road to the other, but was unable to escape the approaching car.

The elder Mr. Gillett was riding in the back seat of the car and received the full impact of the collision.

Mr. Gillett was born in 1865 in Gillett, the cillage having been named for his father (Rodney Gillett) He lived in Gillett and vicinity all his life.

Survivors are three sons, Alden of Milwaukee; Ward of the Philippine islands and Rodney of Gillett; one brother Charles of the state of Washington, and one sister Cora, of Seattle Wash. His wife died four years ago.

Funeral arrangements are yet incomplete but it is planned to hold funeral services for Mr. Gillett Sunday afternoon at the M.E. church in Gillett. Interment will be made in the Wanderer's Rest Cemetery at Gillett.
