Arthur Frederick SCHROEDER

Arthur Frederick Schroedei, 96, of 831 Pine Beach Rd., Marinette, died Wednesday afternoon, April 21, 1999 at Luther Home, Marinette, WI. He was born January 15, 1903 to William and Anna (Luedtke) Schroeder in the Town of Little River. He attended school in Little River and spent his youth on the family farm. In 1925 he went to work in Milwaukee. He married Ida Abel on June 28, 1927 and they lived in Milwaukee until 1933 when they bought a farm in the Town of Stiles. They farmed and Arthur also served on the Town Board, was assessor for 30 years, and was also past president of the Maple Valley Insurance Co. They retired in 1968 and on May 11, 1969 Ida passed away. On February 28, 1974 he married Ruth Polzin Schroeder. They rented the land to a neighbor and lived in the house until Ruth passed away on June 14, 1993. He resided at Luther Manor and Luther Home at Marinette since August 1994. Arthur was a member of the First American Lutheran Church for 65 years, having served on the church council.

Arthur is survived by one daughter, Gloria Rasmussen and Arnold Rasmussen, Oconto Falls; one son, Bradley (Dorothy) Schroeder, Lena; two step-daughters, Rita (Jim) Sanders, Houlton, WI; Erla (Hugo) Schwarz, Mt. Prospect, IL; six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, two step-great-grandehildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, and their wives, Frank (Ina) Schroeder, John (Jose) Schroeder, August (Alvina) Schroeder, Elmer (Ruth) Schroeder; three sisters and their husbands Clara (Edwin) Simpkins, Alma (Henry) Rhode, Ella (Barney) Seefeldt, and two infant brothers, Robert and George.

Friends called at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto. Funeral services were conducted Saturday April 24, 1999 at First American Lutheran Church, Oconto with the Rev. Carl Peters officiating and burial at Evergreen Cemetery.
