Alfred E. ZEMKE

Alfred E. Zemke, 88, Suring, died February 11, 1999 at Community Memorial Hospital in Oconto Falls. Al was born in Gillett November 17, 1910 to the late William and Alma (Zanders) Zemke. He married Geneva Bergner April 18, 1936 at St. John's Lutheran in Pulcifer. Al was the farm manager for the Mosling Farm for seven years. He and Geneva moved to Maple Valley in 1943 where they farmed until Al retired in 1982. Al was a school bus driver for Suring School System for 27 years. He was Town Board Supervisor for Maple Valley, had served on the Board of Directors for Suring Merchantile Company. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Pulcifer and also served as a church board member.

Survivors include his wife Geneva; his son and daughter-in-law, Bill (Sharon) Zemke of Kewaunee; four sisters, Amanda Wilke of Pulcifer, Gertrude (Howard) Morris of Milwaukee, Margaret Gruetzmacher and Delores Laedtke both of Shawano; one grandson, Bill Zemke, Jr. and special friend Heidi.

Al was preceded in death by his sister Lucille, and his brother, Walter.

Friends called at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring. Funeral service 11 a.m. was conducted Monday, February 15,1 1999 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pulcifer with Pastor John Laatsch officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
