REV. AUG. DUMKE DIES AFTER ILLNESS
Rev. August Dumke, 84, died at his home Tuesday evening in the town of
Underhill, after many years of illness. He was born in the town of Grant
in Shawano county, Jan. 14, 1870, and lived there until his marriage
Aug. 24, 1900, to Lydia Leisman. He attended North Western College at
Naperville, Ill. His first assignment was at Greenville, Wis. April
22, 1901, where he started his work in ministry. He was also a minister
at Lomira, Sister Bay, Luxemburg and many other places. He was also
pastor at the Evangelical Lutheran church at Gillett for 10 years. He
retired in 1925 because of ill health and lived on a farm in the town of
Underhill.
Survivors are his wife, 4 sons, Victor and Willard of Underhill,
Lawrence of Kewaunee, and Arnold of Bakersfield, Calif.; 4 daughters,
Mrs. William Kane of San Francisco, Mrs. Walter Braun and Mrs. Ben
Miller of Underhill, Mrs. Edward Langhomf of Oconto Falls. One daughter
died in infancy. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and one sister,
Mrs. Fred Lang of Tilleda.
Services will be conducted Sunday at 2 PM at the Evangelical Lutheran
church at Gillett. Burial will be at Lomira.
