Burial rites for Alfred D. Hertz, 53, of South Milwaukee, were conducted by the Rev. C.V. Dawson of Gillett at the Volk Family cemetery here Sunday afternoon. The Flatley Funeral home here was in charge of arrangements. Services were held in South Milwaukee on Saturday afternoon under auspices of the Methodist church and the Masonic lodge.

Mr. Hertz was the son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. George Schaal of Gillett, his wife being the former Carman Schaal. He is survived by his wife; a son, Leonard, who is a student at the University of Wisconsin, and a daughter, Dorothy Ann, who is Mrs. Bojarski. His mother, Mrs. Henry Clocke, of Weyauwega, a sister and three brothers also survive.

Mr. Hertz was born in Weyauwega. He was a graduate of Marquette University. An electrical engineer, he had been working for the Bucyrus Erie Company in Milwaukee for nearly a quarter of a century. He served in the navy during the First World War. He was interested in scouting and was a scoutmaster, was active in the Methodist church in South Milwaukee, and prominent in fraternal and civic circles.
