Alice I. Davis, 99, of 515 Arbutus Avenue. Oconto passed away December 27, 1998 at the Oconto Memorial Hospital, Oconto.

Alice was born July 2. 1899 in Oconto to the late George and Amelia (Olson) Belongia. She married Pahl Davis on March 1, 1924. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1946. Alice was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy in Green Bay. She was employed by Classon & O'Kelliher Law Office from September 1917 to October 1937 and from October 1937 to 1943 she was employed at the James A. Martineau Law Office. Alice then owned and operated the Davis Insurance Agency from 1943 to October of 1957. Alice worked as Deputy Clerk of Circuit Court of Oconto County from October 1957 to January 1962 and as Oconto County register of Probate from January 1962 to September 1964. Between 1931 and 1954 she was Oconto County Circuit Court Commissioner and Assistant Circuit Court Reporter. Alice then worked in the office of Dr. John S. Honish from July 1965 to June 1974. Alice was the past treasurer of the Oconto County Chamber of Commerce, past president and current member of the American legion Auxiliary, past president of the Catholic Women's Club, past president of the Alter and Rosary Society, and past director and membership chairman from 1975 to 1985 and lifetime member of the Oconto County Historical Society, current member of the Oconto Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and current member of Holy Trinity Parish, St. Joseph Site. Alice was also a volunteer worker for the Oconto Memorial Hospital from 1975 to the present, helping with sewing and mending.

Alice's survivors include four sisters, Mabel McTavish of Oconto, Agnes Nerenhausen of Oconto, Ida Fusselman of Oconto, Josephine B. Herald of Oconto, and many nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by three brothers, Albert, Leonard, and Eugene Belongia; five sisters Ellen Tappa, Minnie McDougal, Mildred LeComte, Mary Killinger, and Marguerite Murphy, and an infant daughter Marie Janet Davis.

Visitation was held at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, Monday, December 28, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with prayer service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, December 29, at 2 p.m. at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Joseph's Site, with Fr. David Ruby officiating and burial at Oconto Cemetery.
