Alice Matravers, 90, passed away peacefully in Green Bay on April 30, 2002. The former Alice Carey was born Feb. 29, 1912 in Oconto County to the late Frank and Louise Carey. She graduated from Oconto High School and attended Teacher Training. She taught for several years in Oconto County Schools. Alice married Claire (Bo) Matravers; and he preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 1980. Alice loved crocheting, cooking and she was a loving grandmother.

Survivors include two daughters Mona (Pete) Martineau, Fair Oaks, Calif.; Janet (Darrell) Bartz, Oconto; a brother Lester (Rita) Carey, Oconto; five granddaughters, Belinda Martineau, Davis, Calif.; Mary Martineau, West Hills, Calif.; Marcia Martineau-Lieberman, Carlsbad, Calif.; Pamela Martineau, Davis, Calif.; Lisa (Bartz) Warden, Sobieski, Wis. Also surviving are nine great grandchildren, Satchel, Elizabeth, Antonia, Laurel, Lucas, Eton, Olivia, Connor and Beau.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers, Norbert, Patrick, John, James, and Anthony; four sisters, Myrtle Carey, Kathleen Young, Helen Daul and Loretta Lemirande.

Friends may call at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday and from 9:30 to 10:30 a. m. Monday. Wake service will be at 7:30 p. m. Sunday at the funeral home led by father Gerald A. Prusakowski O. F. M. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a. m. Monday, May 6, 2002, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Abrams with Rev. James Hablewitz officiating. Burial will be at Brookside Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the dedicated staff at Classic Manor and Manor Care West, Green Bay and also to Dr. James R. Ebben of the Bellin Health Clinic, Green Bay.
