These
short articles are posted in the hopes of adding otherwise unknown aspects
to family histories. They contain numerous individual names and describe
the everyday life activities in Oconto County, Wisconsin's, past.

1966 Oconto Falls—Mrs. Kent Rifenbergh, the former Marvel
Peterson was named the “Methodist Woman of the Year” at the Easter Tea
on Monday. She was presented with a certificate of special membership
in the Woman’s Society of Christian Service issued by the Board of Missions,
a gold pin which is the emblem of the organization, and a corsage.
The honor was voted to Mrs. Rifenbergh by the Society members for her faithful
service to the church in varied capacities. Marvel who moved back
to Oconto Falls after the death of her husband, and cared for her father,
the late A.J. Peterson for a number of years. She has carried many
responsibilities in the church, serving as Church School Superintendent
and the educational boards and committee. She has been a faithful
member of the society and worked hard in various committees. In addition,
Marvel has committed herself to a program of service to the residents of
Pel-Bar Nursing Home and her busy schedule also has her doing a good job
in the hospital auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star. She
finds time to be a good neighbor, and while she cannot be a “cookie jar”
grandmother, there are many nice things she does for her granddaughters
and their parents, her son Jim and wife Grace. The society has presented
these special memberships to Mmes. H.R. Tuttle, John Dobbertin, Ralph Elver,
Henry Plier, E.J. Shellman and the late Mrs. George Cleveland and the money
for them was used by the mission board to extend the work of the church
in its program at home and abroad.
