Oconto Falls - Thomas Tracey
and his wife observed his 80th birthday at his home in Oconto Falls Sunday.
He was born March 24, 1866, in Canada. His wife is the former Agnes
Belanger, whom he married May 30, 1893, in St. Patrick church, Stiles.
They farmed in the town of Morgan until 1920, when they retired and moved
to Oconto Falls. They have three daughters, Mrs. Robert Drake,
Chicago; Mrs. Fred Michaels, Oconto Falls,
and Mrs. Hugo Zeitler, Oconto, and three sons,
William, Harold and Russell , all of Oconto Falls.

Oconto Falls—The March meeting of the Oconto county
board of supervisors, winding up the business of the county for this year,
also marked the retirement of one of the boards oldest members, A. B. Metzler,
supervisor for the second ward of the city of Oconto Falls. He was
a brother of the late Lorenz Metzler, former member of the Brown county
board from the town of Green Bay. Metzler, now 63, has served continuously
on the board since 1932, his record for length of service in county office
being surpassed by only three present members. Chairman M.E. Muehl
of Suring, Arthur Krause of the town of Oconto Falls, and H.C. Hohn of
the city of Gillett are the only men who have served longer continuous
terms. Although Alfred Anderson of Underhill was also on the board
at the time Metzler became a member, he has missed a few terms. Metzler
has served on the printing and insurance committees and has been chairman
of the committee of accounts and purchasing and this year was on the finance
committee. Metzler announced early this year that he would not seek
re-election this spring, declaring that he believed younger men deserved
a chance in government and that he wishes to give more attention to his
business. He has been in the lumber business for over 40 years.
He started in the business in Green Bay in 1902, and later in Potter, Wis.,
moving to Abrams in 1913, and continuing in the business until 1918, when
he came with his family to Oconto Falls
