June 1936—Coming as a surprise to many is the announcement
of the marriage of Miss Marjorie Wilson, daughter of Henry Wilson of this
city and Lieut Harry Ruhe at Chicago Heights, Illinois on Monday, June
1 at high noon.

Mrs. Frank Fictum, 52, passed away at her home in
the town of Spruce on Wednesday, after suffering with a lingering illness.

Mr. Volk, 89, Still Enjoys Climbing
The number of years that have fallen on a man does
not mean curtailment of activity to all men. We are speaking of William
E. Volk, Sr., who is 89 years of age. Last week Mr. Volk climbed
up on his barn to supervise a shingling job, so the little boy instincts
live long in the heart of some.
Mr. and Mrs. (Lucy) Volk will be married 64 years in
December. Mrs. Volk is 84 years of age. They plan on
attending a homecoming celebration in Kewanee, their birthplace, on October
11th (1936). Both still have a keen zest for living, enjoying their children
and grandchildren and the company of their friends.

Oconto Falls—Edwin Gibson, son of Mr. and Mrs. G.
Gibson, and a student at the University of Wisconsin will take part in
the 1936 Haresfoot production, “Of Thee I Sing,” at the university this
year. This is the third production in which Edwin has taken part.
1936 Oconto Falls—A pretty wedding was solemnized at
St. Anthony’s Catholic Church by the Rev. Francis Melchoire when Veronica
Coopman became the bride of Sanfor Vincent of Denmark.
1936 Lena—Ethel Jenquine and Henry Kushava of Lena
were married at St. Charles Catholic Church in Lena.
1936 Oconto Falls—Viola Schlorf, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Wm. Schlorf, Oconto Falls, was married to Earl Rymer, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Clyde Rymer of Sampson.
1936 Lena—Alice LeFevre and Earl Thompson were wed
at St. Charles Catholic Church at Lena.
1936 Oconto—Asa J. Couillard, county treasurer for
nine years, passed away at the Oconto Hospital of a serious heart ailment.
1936 Lena—Miss Beulah Vernosh, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Ed. Vernosh of Lena, was united in marriage to Joseph Weber of Coleman.
1936 Oconto Falls—Arnold Warschkow of Oconto Falls
and Lorraine Kleser of Milwaukee were married Nov. 14th at Milwaukee.

Oconto Falls—April 2, Eugene Behling, 14-year-old
boy soprano, won first place in the amateur contest at Lena, conducted
by Miss Marjorie Lubin at the Milk Pool Recreation hall.

Oconto Falls—The final meeting of the board of education
for the year 1935-1936, was held in the high school office at 8:30 Thursday.
Officers elected for the coming year were, Edward Hostak, president; Max
Boldt, vice president; O.H. Richter, secretary. The first Friday
of each month was set as the regular meeting night. Byron Foster’s
request to use the Washington playground under the N.Y.A. was granted,
and Mrs. D.G. Cooke was hired to fill the teacher training vacancy for
the school year 1936-37 at a salary of $ 135 per month.
