These
short articles are posted in the hopes of adding otherwise unknown aspects
to family histories. They contain numerous individual names and describe
the everyday life activities in Oconto County, Wisconsin's, past.

1928 Stiles—Workmen tearing down the old Perrigo farm
house now owned by the Washbisch family found an old town ballot.
Listed on the ballot were the names of John Leigh, Abram Taylor and Mellen
Smith for supervisors; Rodney Gillett for treasurer; Henry Volk for clerk;
Wm. H.C. Boyd, D.B. Newton and J.O. Keliher for assessor, and O.L. Edwards,
Arthur Van Utrecht Wm. Smith and Frank Lelane for the office of justice;
Charles Mc Kenzie, Patrick Delaney and Edward Fields for constables.
The letter with the ballot was dated March 1864 so of course these names
are only history now. At that time the town of Stiles embraced what
are now Stiles, Oconto Falls and Gillett and the voting place was the Perrigo
place being a central location.
