Jane Knewstubb Sweeney 1859-1943


Sweeney Rites
Argyle--Funeral services for Mrs. John Sweeney, 84, were to be held at 1:30 p.m. today in her home and at 3 p.m. in the Methodist church in Argyle.  Mrs Sweeney died in the Green county home near Monroe Tuesday after a long illness.

Mrs. Sweeney, the former Jane Knewstubb, was born in Platteville, April 6, 1859.

On Dec 14, 1887 she was married to John Sweeney and the couple farmed near the town of Argyle until March, 1940, when they moved to the village.

Surviving are her husband; three sons, Glenn, Argyle; William, Juda; and Homer, Racine; a daughter, Mrs. Harvey White; 19 grandchildren and two brothers, John Knewstubb, Dodgeville, and Robert Knewstubb, Sheldon.

The Rev. Virgil Brown was to officiate at the last rites and interment will be in the old Argyle cemetery.
