ONLY CHILD TAKEN BY DEATH
OBITUARY – NETHERY

John Edward, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Raymond Nethery, was born at Shullsburg, Wis., June 20, 1913, and died at Darlington, Wis., on Friday, April 18, 1924.  He spent the years of his brief life in the towns of Shullsburg and Gratiot until the spring of 1923, when he came with his parents to Darlington.  Four weeks ago he was taken ill with typhoid fever.  This disease had spent itself and Edward seemed on the road to recovery when pneumonia set in and within twenty-four hours resulted fatally.  He was the only child of his grief stricken parents and the who community unite with them in sorrowing over the death of their son.

Edward was a fine promising lad, quiet and dutiful in school, obedient and loving in his home.  He was a favorite with all who knew him and will be greatly missed.  As a member of the Methodist Sunday School he was ever cheerful and loyal.  Edward’s sunny disposition gained for him friends among the old as well as the young.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, April 20th, at the family residence, the Rev. J. A. Vincent officiating.  A large number of relatives and friends were present.  They accompanied the remains to Shullsburg, where interment services were read by the Rev. W. J. Griffiths.
