Winfield W. Lancaster 1921-2001


OBITUARY:

Winfield W. Lancaster, 79, passed away January 3, 2001.  Winfield graduated from Argyle High School in 1939 and lived in the Lamont area all of his life.  He was a carpenter with his father until 1978.  He worked for Dotson Black Construction for a number of years before starting as a general repairman for Lafayette Co. Co-op in Darlington, retiring in 1985.  Winfield also served as Deputy Sheriff in Lafayette co. for a number of years.

Winfield is survived by his wife, Gertrude, 2 step-sons: Jason (Trisha) Chase of Branson, MO and Nick (Tina) Hesseling of San Bernadino, CA.  Also surviving are one sister: Imogene Larson of Juda, WI, 4 step-grandchildren and 5 step great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents, his 3 sisters:  Lillian Miller, Inez Straub, Hazel Lancaster.

Winfield served in the Army’s Medical Corp during WWII, and was a past member of Bates-O’Grien-Howe-Wiegel American Legion Post #214.  He was an avid outdoorsman and sports fan, as well as a woodworker building furniture for a hobby.

Family Note: His parents were Frank Cook Lancaster & Elsie Alberta nee' Hughes. Their only son, Winfield White Lancaster was born 11 Jan 1921.
