The marriage of Mr. Metcalf Hillary and Miss Mary Jane Alderson, took place at the residence of the bride’s mother, at 7 o’clock on Christmas evening.  The ceremony was performed by the Rev. R. Pengilly.  The attendants were Miss Sarah Hillary, sister of the groom, and Mr. Joseph Alderson, cousin of the bride.

The festivities connected with the event were enjoyed by a large circle of friends.  The presents were many, of which the following is a partial list:
