William R "Bob" Maricque, 77 a lifetime resident of Green Bay, died May 25, 2002 with his family at his side. He was born Sept 7, 1924 to the late William and Ruth (Flavin) Maricque in Green Bay. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was proud of serving for three years, three months, and three days at different bases in England. He married the former Betty VanderGeeten at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Sept 10, 1949. They were together for 45 years until her death August 25, 1995. Bob was a 4th generation commercial fisherman and continued to fish until his death. He and his son Mark were partners in the fishing business and Mark will continue the legacy. In 1959 Bob and his brother took over Maricque's Bar from their dad. For the next 35 years he not only caught the fish but also fried the fish at Maricque's bar. Bob enjoyed spoiling his grand children, going out to eat and working. Survivors include his two children, Cindy (Al) Vendenack and Mark (Yolanda) Maricque, all of Green Bay. two grand children, Nick and Mandi Maricque, his brother and sister in law Jim (Mary Jean) Maricque, his sister, Maxine Kinard, sister in law, Darlene VanderGeeten, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary, mother in law and father in law Rae and Mae VanderGeeten, three brothers in law, Arnie Kinard, Raymond VenderGeeten and Dick VanderGeeten, several aunts and uncles.
