MRS. BRUNETTE, LONG TIME RESIDENT OF GREEN BAY IS DEAD

Woman Who Was Instrumental In Establishing Deaf School Passes Away

Mrs. Theresa Brunette 81, widow of the late Manuel Brunette died at 3:30 this morning at her home, 445 S. Adams St. She had been in failing health for some time due to her advanced age, but death was due to a paralytic stroke, which she suffered a half hour before her death occurred.

Born in New York, May 5, 1848, the daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. James Walker, pioneer settlers of the town of Howard. Mrs. Brunette has spent the most of her life in this locality. Her marriage to Manuel Brunette took place in 1867 at Duck Creek and in 1900 the couple moved to Green Bay. Mr. Brunette died five years ago.

Before her marriage, Mrs. Brunette was a school teacher and when she moved to Green Bay she was instrumental in having a school for the deaf and dumb established in the city by bringing in almost half of the required number of students nece ssary to establish a school of this nature.

Surviving Mrs. Brunette are eight children, Mrs. Minnie Clabots, Mrs. Ben Masse, Roy and James all of Green Bay, Roland and Emanuel of Howard, Mrs. A.J. Strassburger, Oshkosh, and Mrs. Harry Gillen, Milwaukee, a lso two brothers Edward, Green Bay; and James, Chicago. There are 26 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
