Maurice “Maurie” Matzke,
76, Green
Bay
resident, died March 29, 2004. He was born in Green Bay, on
Aug. 10, 1927, to Raymond and
Mary (Buzynski) Matzke. He graduated from Green Bay East High School
in 1945.
After serving ten months in the U.S. Navy, he attended St. Norbert College for 2
years. He married Bernadine
“Bernie” Boyere on Aug. 21, 1954. He owned and
operated The Maurie Studio of
Photography from 1952 until he retired in 1992. He was a member of St.
Mary of
the Angels Parish where he served as an usher.
He is survived by his wife;
two sons, a daughter and six grandchildren, Larry, Green Bay, his
children,
Mike, Lauren, Joey, Claire and their mother, Cathy; Jeff (Ronda),
Ledgeview, their
children, Brooke and Nicole; Kim (Dave) Fisher, Green Bay; and
Maurie’s very
special friend, a Golden Retriever, Rowdie.
He was preceded in death by
his parents and two brothers, Howard and John.
Friends may call at
Proko-Wall Funeral Home & Crematory, 1630 E. Mason Street
on Wednesday from 4
to 8 p.m. Parish Wake Service 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on
Thursday at
the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the procession leaves for church.
Mass of
Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Angels Church, corner of
Cass
and Irwin, with Rev. Al Lis officiating. Entombment in Allouez Catholic
Chapel
Mausoleum.
The family would like to
extend a special thank you to Unity Hospice for their support and care
over the
last two months.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial
fund has been established in Maurie’s name.
