Mrs.
Mary Matzke, widow of the late
Fred Matzke, died Wednesday
at her home in the town of DePere,
her death being the result
of old age. Mrs.
Matzke was born in Germany
October
30, 1829,
being 80 years and 4 days at the time of her death, and came
to this country in the early 50's locating at Green Bay,
later
moving to Oconto and back again to Green Bay. Her
husband responded
to the country's call during the Civil War and after he had
received his honorable discharge they settled on a farm in the
town of DePere
where they resided up to the time of her death.
Her husband died about eight years ago and
five sons and four
daughters survive:
August;
Mathew; Annie
(Mrs. Fonder) of Rockford, Wash.; Rose (Mrs. Jos. Kaster); Paul of Glenmore; Theresa (Mrs. J.
Becher) of Preble; Sylvester
of St.
Paul, Minn.;
Lizzie
(Mrs. E. Daix) of Green Bay; Philip at home.
She is also survived by about 40
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 10
o'clock from St. Mary's Church with interment at Mount Olivet.
