Joseph
E. Matzke, 72, 837 Pine St,
DePere went home to his Lord Tuesday afternoon, August 10, at his home. The son of the late
Phillip and Elizabeth
(Rauschenbach) Matzke was born Nov, 8, 1920 in DePere and was a life
long
DePere resident. Joe
served in the US
Army during World War II. On
Sept. 4,
1943, Mr. Matzke and the former Loucille Peters were married in St.
Francis
Xavier Catholic Church, DePere.
Joe
worked for 36 years as a truck driver, retiring in 1983. He was a member of St.
Joseph Catholic
Church, DePere, and the DePere Area Golden Area K club.
Survivors
include his wife Lucille, a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel (Julie
Ebben)
Matzke, DePere, two daughters and a son in law, Carol (Glen)
Wallschaeger,
Milwaukee, JoAnn Curry, West Palm Beach , Florida, six grandchildren,
James
Tilkens, Ronald Tilkens, both of Milwaukee, Lor
and Gordon Lewis, Florence Wis, Kyle, Ryan, Stephanie
Wallschaeger,
Milwaukee, three great grandchildren, Shelby, Jeremy, and Amelia. Joe was a special grandpa
to David and Tracy
Theeke; three brothers and two sisters in law, William and Doretta
Matzke, Carl
Matzke, all of DePere, Wilbur and Enid Matzke, Green Bay, many nieces
and
nephews.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers,
one sister. Friends
may call at Cotter
Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave,
DePere, from 4 to 9 p.m. today, and prior to the funeral on Friday. until the cortege leaves
for the church. Christian
Ladies Rosary 5:30 pm. today,
Parish prayer service 7 pm. today, Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m. Friday at St
Joseph
Catholic Church, 1305 Lourdes Ave, DePere, with Rev,. Conrad Kratz
officiating,
Burial in Mount
Olivet Cemetery.
