Obituary of Harvey J. DeGrave - March 21, 1987

Harvey J. DeGrave, 65, Rt. 2, Northview Road, went to his eternal rest Friday evening at a local hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 6, 1921 in the Town of Humboldt to the late Felix and Louise (Van Pay) DeGrave. On November 15, 1944 he married the former Helen Rentmeester at Holy Martyrs of Gorcum Church.
Mr. DeGrave served in the US Army during WWII from 1945 until he was discharged in 1947. He and his wife owned and operated a dairy farm until his retirement in 1982, at which time his son Daniel continued the operation of the dairy farm. He also had a local milk route for Steve's Cheese hauling for 21 years.
Mr. DeGrave was a member of the V.F.W. Winnecki Post No. 9677 of Bellevue. He belonged to Holy Martyrs Parish and Holy Name Society, and ushered for the church. \par \par Survivors include his wife Helen, three daughters, Nancy and Robert Derrene, Jeannie and Earl Eggert, all of Green Bay, Barbara and Todd Jonet, New Franken; three sons, Daniel and Linda DeGrave, David and Carol DeGrave, all of Green Bay; Steve and Jodie DeGrave, Madison; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, Ervin and Lorraine DeGrave, Green Bay; Marvin and Elsie DeGrave, Bellevue.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Norman, and one sister, Martha Balza. Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., from 2 to 9 p.m. today, and prior to the funeral on Monday. V.F.W. Winnecki Pos t No. 9677 service 7 p.m. today. Parish wake service 8 p.m. Funeral 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Martyrs of Gorcum Church with the Rev. Robert Rhyner officiating. Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
