Edward
A. Matzke, 71, 968 Hickory Hill Drive,
died Saturday morning
in a local hospital after a lingering illness.
Born
Jan. 23, 1902, in DePere, he was a life-long resident of the area. He was a circuit teacher
of mason and
brick-laying for the State
of Wisconsin
for 20 years, retiring in 1967. He
was a member
of the Holy Name Society and the United Commercial Travelers.
Survivors
are his wife, the former Louise Binon, one daughter, Mrs.
Kenneth (Marion)
Pearson, Bloomington,
Minn;
two sons, James and
Richard, Green
Bay;
17 grandchildren; six brothers, Frank, Carl,
William, Joseph, and Sylvester, DePere, and Wilbur, Green Bay;
and one sister, Mrs. Eleanor Vermiere, Green Bay. Three brothers
preceded him in death.
At
Schauer and Schumacher West Side
Funeral Home,
838 S. Fisk St.
after 2 p.m. Monday.
The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Monday
and there will be a wake service at 8 p.m. Monday. Funeral
services at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Church,
with burial
at Mt.
Olivet Cemetery.
