WALBERG, Olive Elizabeth age 89, 2185 Seamount Drive, Ferndale, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 1994 in a Ferndale nursing home. She was born December 2, 1904 in Atlanta, MO to Charles Byron and Mary Jane Tobler Legoe. A Whatcom County resident for 85 years, she was active in the United Church of Ferndale and the Ferndale Senior Center. Her husband Walter C.[G.] Walberg died in October 1981. She is survived by a brother Glen C. Legoe of Larkspur, CA. Memorial services will be Monday, March 14, 2 p.m. at the United Church of Ferndale with Rev. Richard Wyanski officiating. WALBERG, Walter Grant, age 74 of 5775 Golden Eagle Drive, Ferndale, passed away Sunday, October 4, 1981. Walt had been a resident of Ferndale since 1934 and had been raised in Skagit County. He was a retired carpenter and was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers. He is survived by his wife Olive E. of Ferndale; 2 brothers, Sigurd of Sedro Woolley; Melvin of Mt. Vernon; 2 brothers-in-law, Claude Robertson of Burlington; Glen C. Legoe of Larkspur, California; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Graham Hutchins Thursday, October 8 at 2:30 p.m. in the United Church of Ferndale. Cremation will follow under the direction of Moles Funeral Home.

Waldeck, 72, of 2722 Cedarwood avenue, who death occurred Friday (April 18, 1947) in a local hospital. Mr. Waldeck had lived in this city five years and was a member of the Garden Street Methodist church. He is survived by his widow, Anne, at home; one son, Carl H., and a grandson, of Los Angeles, Calif.; and three sisters, Mrs. Clarinda Marien, in Bellingham; Mrs. Fannie Stauffer, of Muskogee, Okla., and Mrs. Jennie McCleery, of Hastings, Neb. The services were held at 3 p.m. in the Harlow-Hollingsworth funeral home, Dr. Roy Leslie Smith officiating, and were followed by cremation. Honorary casketbearers were Dewey Hite, Harrison Delahoyde, Cyril Mauler, Ellsworth Smith, George C. Kalberg and Harvey Wood.
WALDEMAR, Gladys Reatha, 82, of Lynden passed away at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon on Feb. 10, 1992. Mrs. Waldemar was born in Cochrane, Alberta on March 24, 1909, a daughter of Harry and Clara Todd Reamer. At age 13 she moved with her family to the Acme-Saxon area. In Bellingham on Aug. 29, 1928 she was married to her husband Martin and together they farmed on the corner of the E. Badger and Depot roads. Mr. Waldemar passed away in 1967. In 1982, Gladys moved to Mount Vernon, where she enjoyed dancing with Leisure Time. While in Lynden she attended First Baptist Church. A funeral service was held in First Baptist Church in Lynden on Thursday with Rev. Hoyt Sherwin officiating. Burial followed in Lynden Cemetery. She is survived by three daughters, Donna Dawes and husband Gene of Seattle, Lois Payne and husband Richard of Bellingham and Carol Brown of Bothell; four sisters, Eva Ford, Viola Hoyer and Ruth Hanssen, all of Bellingham, and Helen Elliott of Seattle; brother Earl Reamer of Bellingham; daughter-in-law Esther Waldemar of Lynden; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son Richard in February 1991 and three brothers. Services and arrangements were under the care of Gillies Funeral Home of Lynden.
(From The Lynden Tribune, February 19, 1992)WALDEMAR, Richard - Former Northwest Washington Fair manager Richard Waldemar, 56, passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 1991, after a long fight against cancer. Memorial services were scheduled at 11 a.m. today at First Reformed Church in Lynden, with Revs. Kenneth Daugs and Neal Snider officiating and graveside services preceding at 10:15 a.m. at Lynden Cemetery. Waldemar was raised in Lynden and was a 4-H and FFA exhibitor at the Fair as a youth. He was owner of Waldemar Stables in Lynden. Through his love of horses and his involvement with various horse activities he became superintendent of draft horses at the fair, and eventually became the entertainment director. After serving as a director of the fair for approximately five years, Waldemar became a full-time employee in 1981, and was named fair manager in 1983. From the time he accepted the job as manager to the present time, the Fair's record attendance from from 150,329 to 203,710. A special project for him was the clock tower, built last year on the spot now called "Times Square." The clock was dedicated to Waldemar at the January stockholders' meeting. Previous to his years at the Fair, Waldemar spent 22 years driving transfer for Lynden Transfer (LTI) and ONC Trucking. He served on the Lynden City Council, St. John's Lutheran Church Council and Washington state Fair Association Board. He was State Fair President in 1989. He was member of Lynden Breakfast Kiwanis and involved in many other organizations. He is survived by his wife, Esther; son Richard Waldemar Jr. and his wife Tami of Lynden; daughter Cindy and husband Jeff Huleatt of Arlington; mother Gladys Waldemar of Mount Vernon; sisters Donna and husband Gene Dawes of Seattle, Lois and husband Bud Payne of Bellingham and Carol Brown of Lynnwood; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Martin in 1967. Arrangements were under the care of Gillies Funeral Home of Lynden.
WALDO, Brian Lee - Visitation for Brian Lee Waldo, 28, of Nooksack will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Gillies Funeral Home. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Nooksack Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at Nooksack Valley Baptist Church with Pastor Craig Hardinger officiating. Mr. Waldo died Thursday, April 24, 1997, at University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle. Born Jan. 17, 1969, to Ron and Kay Waldo in Spokane, his family moved to Whatcom County when he was 4. He graduated from Nooksack Valley High School in 1987. Mr. Waldo served in the U. S. Navy from 1987 to 1993. He was a truck driver for Lynden Door Inc. and a reserve officers for the Sumas Police Department. His hobbies included music, marksmanship, building model trucks and working on his car. Survivors include his parents of Everson, brother Rob Waldo of Everson, sister Sandra Waldo of Portland, Ore., grandmother Adele Jones of Lynden, three nieces, one nephew and other relatives. WALDO, William L. - Services for truck driver William L. Waldo, 57, of 3133 Cherrywood Ave., will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Greenacres Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Gillian and the Rev. Richard Benjamin officiating. Mr. Waldo died Monday in Bellingham. He was born Jan. 18, 1931, in Toledo, Ohio. He had lived in Bellingham since he moved from Anchorage, Alaska in November 1985. Mr. Waldo was a member of Teamsters Local No. 959 and Whatcom Christian Fellowship. Survivors include his wife Jacqueline Waldo of the family home; a son, William Waldo of Bellingham; three daughters, Rhonda Rogers of Bellingham, Jocelyn Juul of Anchorage and Deanna Waldo of Gig Harbor; three sisters, Marie Welsh of Florida, Doris Umlor of Michigan and Suellen Stack of California; a brother, Jack Waldo of Texas; hie stepmother, Hazel Glover of Nevada; and six grandchildren. Mrs. Waldron was born Dec. 17, 1903 in Silver Creek, Nebraska to Albert S. and Josephine E. (Franston) Rodd; lived in Sinclair, Wyoming for 31 years and Rawlins, Wyoming until 1974 before moving to Blaine 20 years ago. She was a member of the Methodist Church, enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens, fishing in lakes and creeks and playing cards. Survivors are her son, E. Lloyd and his wife Marilyn Waldron of Blaine; three grandsons, Jerry Waldron of Anacortes, Frank and his wife Jody Waldron of Ferndale and Steve and his wife Judy of Alaska; two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Marilyn Marie Waldron. A graveside service will e held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 1994 in Rawlins Cemetery, Rawlins, Wyoming. The arrangements are under the direction of the Jerns McKinney Funeral Chapel of Blaine.
WALDRON, Lloyd – A memorial service for Lloyd Waldron of Blaine will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at United Church of Christ in Blaine. Mr. Waldron died Saturday, April 8, 2000 at Stafholt Good Samaritan Center. He was 75. Born June 4, 1924, to Thomas and Helen (Rodd) Waldron in Silver Creek Neb., he moved with his family to Sinclair, Wyo., where he attended schools there and in Rawlins, Neb (Wyo?). After graduating from Rawlins High School in 1942, he began working in the lab at the Sinclair Refinery. Mr. Waldron then served in the U.S. Air Force, 22nd Division, 7th Air Reconnaissance during World War II. After the war he returned to the Sinclair Refinery. On Aug. 3, 1955, he married Marilyn Ashmore in Cheyenne, Wyo. In 1970, he was transferred to the Cherry Point refinery. He retired as a dock supervisor from ARCO Products Co in 1984, after working 42 years in various positions. Survivors include his wife of the family home; sons Frank Waldron of Ferndale, Jerry Waldron of Blaine and Steve Waldron of Anchorage, Alaska; four grandchildren; and other relatives. Arrangements are by Jerns-McKinney Funeral Chapel of Blaine.

He was born in Alabama in 1889. He was a retired lalgger and farmer, and a veteran of World War I. He was a member of the Burlington V.F.W., and the Sedro Woolley American Legion. Survived by wife Lula; 5 daughters, Emma Simmons, Sedro Woolley, Arettia Perigo of California, Eurshel Booth of Arkansas, Irene Betschart of Burlington, Jackie Chisum of Oregon; 3 sons, Buck and Vonray of Mt. WALDSCHMIDT, Gerhardt C., age 78 of 2401 Pacific, passed away in a local hospital Fri., Sept. 22, 1978. Mr. Waldschmidt was a native of Russia and came to the U.S. in 1903 and B'ham in 1943. He was a retired carpenter, member of the Church of Assumption and an honorary member of Knights of Columbus, Council No. 829. Surviving are his wife, Helen, at home; 3 sons, James of Red Bluff, Calif., Leo of Burlington and Dennis of Seattle; 2 daughters, Marcella Brown of B'ham and Joanne Murphy of San Jose, Calif.; 2 brothers, Andy of Topeka, Kansas and John of Salina, Kansas; 3 sisters, Mary Bos of Salina, Kansas, Anna Pfanenstiel of Tacoma and Aggie Pfannenstiel of Ferndale; also 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Christian Prayer Services will be held Tues., Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Veroske Jerns Funeral Home with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Wed., Sept. 27 at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Assumption with Father Patrick Callahan as celebrant. WALDSCHMIDT, Glenyce (Cornish), age 56 of Burlington passed away Fri., Feb. 20, 1987 in a Mt. Vernon hospital. She was born July 29,1930 in Burlington & she attended Burlington schools until moving to B'ham in 1947. She was a 1948 graduate of B'ham High school. Her marriage to Leo Waldschmidt took place May 5, 1949 in B'ham. She was a devoted homemaker & had previously been employed by Pacific NW Bell & the Skagit Grange Supply of Burlington. She attended the Burlington alliance Church, was a member of the Swinomish Yacht Club & a former member of the Orthopedic Guild. Mr. & Mrs. Waldschmidt performed with the Don Ryan Dancers of Seattle. Surviving are her husband, Leo of the home; 2 daughters & sons-in-law, Le Anne & Darrell Wiseman of Burlington; Cheri & Robert Fiedler of Mount Vernon; son & daughter-in-law, Randy & Cindy Waldschmidt of Burlington; 4 grandchildren, Dean & Neil Fiedler, Alicia & Jessica Wiseman; parents, H. Cleon & Rose Cornish of Burlington; sister & brother-in-law, Betty & Clarence Kuhn of Burlington; numerous nieces, nephews & many friends. She was preceded in death by 1 brother Donald Cornish in 1972. WALDSCHMIDT, Helen K., age 86, formerly of Pacific St. passed away in a local convalescent center Wednesday, My 23, 1990. She had been a resident of Bellingham since 1943 and was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church and a member of CDA for many years. She leaves to survive 3 sons, Dennis and wife June of Seattle, James and wife Vera of California, and Leo Paul of Burlington; 2 daughters, Marcella Brown and husband Darrell of Bellingham, and Johanna Murphy and husband Lawrence of Port Townsend; 2 brothers, Ted Linnenberger of California and Leonard Linnenberger of Tacoma; 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Christian prayer service will be held Tuesday May 29, 1990 at 7:00 p.m. in the Jerns & LeVeck Funeral Chapel, with mass of Christian burial to be celebrated Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Assumption Catholic Church with Father John Madigan as celebrant. WALKEN, Mary Anne - Born December 13, 1922 in Bloomington, Illinois and while growing up there she developed her love of corn bread and corn on the cob. The Lord Jesus called her home March 23, 2009, after a short stay in the hospital. Mom lived independently in her own apartment until her stroke, and she was conversant right up to the last. Her few days in the hospital were spent with her children and grandchildren surrounding her bedside to share their love and remember good times and memories they all had together. Her father, William Blonden, died in 1959 and her mother, Hannah (Gardner) Blonden died in 1937. In October 1938, at age 15, mom and a girlfriend hitchhiked from Illinois across country, arriving safely in Bellingham where she lived with her Aunt and Uncle Frank Blonden until she married. She graduated from Bellingham High School in June 1942 and married her one and only true love, Robert G. Walken June 14, 1942. He predeceased her in death on January 2, 1966. Mom is survived by her 3 children, Gerald D. Walken (wife Ruth) of Renton, Ronald D. Walken (wife Nancy) of Seattle, and Cynthia A. Fleming (husband Mike) of Bellingham, and grandchildren Ryan, Travis, Cory, Sean and Christina (Tina) along with 8 great grandchildren. Her brother William Blonden died May 10, 2002 and brother John A. Jenkins died May 25, 1990. Mom was a member of First Congregational Church since June 1964. She worked for 16 years as a bookkeeper at Yeager's Sporting Goods. She was well known for her many gifts of love and friendship, the delicious food she served, her show stopping yard and especially her extraordinary Christmas cookies. She loved her grandchildren and family, Bible reading, books, baking, crossword puzzles and was an avid Mariners fan. She was a gracious hostess and so full of words of encouragement and strength to all her family and friends. At her request no formal services are to be held. She has requested a family memorial with the scattering of her ashes at Birch Bay, at a later date.

Mr. Walken was a former resident of this community and was a veteran of World War II. Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Louise Walken, of Orchards; four brothers, Ernest Walken, of Bellingham, and Duke, Albert, and Frank Walken, all of Port Angeles, Wash.; six sisters, Mrs. Dr. W. Hulbush, Mrs. Floyd Griffin, and Mrs. Lyle Doty, all of Bellingham, Mrs. James Taylor, of Petersburg, Alaska, Mrs. Dr. Walter Adams, of Deer Harbor, Wash., and Mrs. Tom Gildersleeve of Seattle. Graveside services will be conducted at Bay View Cemetery by the Rev. James M. Wilson, Friday, July 11, at 3 p.m., under the direction of the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth.
WALKEN, Robert G., age 42, of 2506 Cedarwood, passed away Sunday, January 2, (1966) in a local hospital. He was a lifetime resident of Bellingham and owned Walken Trucking Co. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and the Washington Dump Truckers Association. Surviving is his father, Ernest Walken of Bellingham, 2 sons, Gerald of Everett and Ronald of Bellingham, 1 daughter, Cynthia Walken of Bellingham, 1 sister, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Sizer of North Plains, Oregon. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. J. Vincent Crane at the Congregational Church Tuesday, Jan. 4 at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. WALKER, Adam, age 92, formerly of 1930 James St., Bellingham, passed away Thursday, Feb. 24, (1977). A resident of this community for 50 years prior to moving to Everett 4 years ago, he was a member of Immanuel Bible Church. Surviving 3 sons, John of Portland, Oregon; Alexander of Seattle; and Arthur of Los Olivos, Calif.; 1 daughter, Mrs. Jean Edquist of Everett, 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Mrs. Walker had been a resident here for the past five years, coming here from Hood River, Ore. Surviving relatives are the husband, Frank Walker, Hood River; three daughters, Hazel and Marguerita at home, and Juanita at Hood River, also two sons, Frank and Kenneth Walker at home; one sister, Mary Murray, and two brothers, William and John Scott, at Chilliwack, B.C. The remains are resting at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth, where funeral services are being arranged to be announced later.

Born March 12, 1898 in August, Miss, she had been a Whatcom County resident since 1903; graduated from Ferndale High School and Bellingham Normal School; was a member of Church of Christ. She was raised in Minn. & later in N. Dakota where she graduated from Bismark Teachers College & later taught there. She moved to Everett over 50 years ago, lived in Bellingham from 1928 to 1941 & the past 30 years in Marysville. She was a member of V.F.W. & a former member of The Women of the Moose, Marysville. She leaves 2 sons, Keith Wagner of Marysville, Wes Walker of Bellingham; daughter, Janiece Newell of Connelsville, Penn; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 cousins, Rex Campbell of Boseman, Montana, Bill Campbell of Trotters, N. Dakota. Funera services 11 a.m. Thurs. at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home, Marysville. Private burial will follow.
WALKER, Beulah Elizabeth of Lynden died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at the Christian Health Care Center. She was 91. Born Jan. 31, 1907, in Seymour, Tex. to Thomas and Emma (Dunning) Webb, she married John Walker in 1924. She lived in Texas until moving to Lynden in 1989 to be near family. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed sewing and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1966, and six brothers. Survivors include her son John Walker, Jr. of Medina, Texas; daughter Roberta McGrew of Ferndale; sisters Annie Woodall of Mexico City, Mexico, and Ollie Davidson of Kilgore, Texas; eight grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. Private services will be held and she will be interred in Oak Bluff Cemetery in Port Naches, Texas. Arrangements are by Gillies Funeral Home.
WALKER, Cathern, aged 69 years, passed away at her home Sunday (Sept. 5, 1943), having been a resident of Ferndale many years. She is survived by her husband, William A. Walker; two sons, Perry Dale, of Ferndale, and Lyle Seat; also a brother, Charles Perry, of Anacortes. Christian Science services will be held at the Monroe Chapel at Ferndale Thursday, September 9, at 2 o'clock. Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery.
WALKER, Charles, age 87 of Ferndale, a county resident for many years, died on Monday, July 10, (1978).Born in England, Mr. Walker served with the Canadian Armed Forces during World War I and had been a member of the Salvation Army for close to fifty years. He is survived by two sisters in England and many friends. Funeral services were conducted in the Chapel of the Gillies Funeral Home on Monday, July 17, at 10:30 a.m. with Major John Rocheleau officiating. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery.
WALKER, Charles B., age 82 of 2329 Utter St., passed away in a local hospital on Tuesday, March 23, (1960) following an extended illness. Mr. Walker was born in Amherst, Nova Scotia and had resided in Bellingham for the past 58 years. He was the husband of the late Rebecca Ann Walker who passed away recently. He was a member of the First Advent Christian Church and the Carpenters Union Local 756. Leaves to survive two sons, Gordon D. Walker and Charles C. Walker, both of California; one daughter, Mrs. Aylmer Harriman of Bellingham; three sisters, Mrs. Bebe Hanley of Ontario, Mrs. Pearl Condon of Seattle, Mrs. Cora Wagner of Victoria, B.C., also five grandchildren. Rev Donald Wrigley will conduct services on Friday, March 25, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Bingham & Jerns Funeral Home. Interment Greenacres.
WALKER, Charles Clifford, age 76 of 24515 13th Ave. S., Des Moines, WA, passed away Friday, March 2, 1990 at a local hospital in Burien. He was born Aug. 30, 1914, in Bellingham, WA. Mr. Walker was raised in Whatcom County and graduated in 1932 from Meridian High School. He married his wife Lucille in 1934. He attended the University of Minnesota and belonged to fraternity Phi Sigma Kappa. He returned to Whatcom County after college in 1937 where he worked as an engineer for Pacific American Fisheries. In 1948 he moved to Eureka, CA and helped organize a co-op plywood company. Mr. Walker moved to Eugene, OR in 1961 and began working for Kimwood Corp. in 1977 and moved to Des Moines, WA in 1982. He attended the Des Moines Methodist Church. Mr. Walker enjoyed fishing and sports. He is survived by his wife, Lucille; son, Chief Master Sgt. Ronald C. Walker and wife Verta of Alcomberry, England AFB; daughter, Cheryl and husband David Peterson of Seattle; 5 grandchildren; brother Retired Commander Gordon Walker of Chesapeake, VA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was born June 29, 1913, in Glascow, Scotland. He had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 14 years. Mr. Walker was a warehouse supervisor for a plumbing supply firm prior to his retirement in 1974. WALKER, Eleanor C. - A graveside service for Eleanor C. (Norris) Walker of Sedro-Woolley, formerly of Acme, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Saxon Cemetery near Wickersham. Mrs. Walker died Monday, April 17, 2000, at United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley. She was 82. Born Jan. 17, 1918, to William and Hannah (Larsen) Norris, she was raised and attended school in Acme and graduated in 1936 from Mount Baker High School. Mrs. Walker worked as a clerk at Clipper Store. On June 21, 1947, she married C. "Bob" Walker in Oak Harbor and they lived in Sedro-Woolley. He died in 1996. Mrs. Walker worked as a nurse's aide at Northern State Hospital and then as a clerk for J.C. Penney Co. Inc. of Sedro-Woolley, where she worked for almost 20 years. She loved working in her garden, growing flowers and camping. She was preceded in death by her brother, Russell Norris. Survivors include sons William Kay of Kelso and Gary Kay of Roseburg, Ore., daughter Karen Walker of Sedro-Woolley stepdaughter Sydna Ostrom of Burien sister Dorothy Cheadle of Burlington eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He had resided in the Lynden district for the past 34 years, and was a retired manager of the Lynden Columbia Valley Lumber Yard. He was a veteran of World War 1, member of the Mt. WALKER, Gary Lee, age 57, of Bellingham, passed away Wed., Jan. 24, 1996, at St. Joseph Hospital, following a brief illness. He was born in Bellingham on July 5, 1938 to Francis and Violet (Bliven) Walker. He graduated from Bellingham High School in 1956 and attended Edison Technical School in Seattle for two years, studying electronics. He married Doreen Krumdiack on April 8, 1961, in Bellingham. Mr. Walker was employed as an electronics technician for several years. He entered the law enforcement field in Jan 1968, working for the Whatcom County Sheriff's Department and retired as a Sergeant in 1990. He was a licensed amateur radio operator since the age of 14; enjoyed hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, horse packing; and was a member of the Backcountry Horsemen of Washington. Survived by his wife, Doreen at the family home; son Craig and wife Mari Walker of Coeur d'Alene, ID; daughter Shelli Gilbery of Minneapolis, MN; 4 grandchildren; and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gailen Walker. Visitation will be Mon., Jan. 29, 2-8 p.m. at Greenacres Funeral Home. WALKER, Herbert Gordon, age 71, of 4008 Mayne Lane, Ferndale, passed away Tues., August 20, 1991 at his residence. Mr. Walker was born Jan. 14, 1920 in Yakima. He graduated from Washington State College as an architect in 1946. A veteran of WWII, he was a lieutenant with the Combat Engineers. For his efforts during the war, Mr. Walker received a Purple Heart and a Silver Star. In 1948 he entered business as an architect and general contractor in Bellingham; in 1960 he opened his own business, the H. G. Walker Co., where he remained active until his death. Mr. Walker enjoyed boating and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, of the family home; son Brent and daughter-in-law Cherie and grandchildren Regan and Trevor; son Scott and daughter-in-law Kathy and granddaughter Heather; stepchildren Vanessa Sockolov, and husband Kenny and his grandson Jacob, Georgia Garcia, John S. WALKER, Isabel M., age 39 of 2812 Grant, passed away in a local sanitarium, Friday, June 12, (1959). WALKER, Ivan, Jr., of Everett, died December 18, 1997 at the age of 66. He was born January 18, 1931 in Smith Center, Kansas. He has been a resident of the Everett area for 44 years. After Ivan retired with 20 years of service for G.T.E., he sold real estate locally. Ivan and his wife, Janet, had a great love for baseball, traveled the U.S. in their motor home, and enjoyed playing bridge. Since 1989, he worked for the Bellingham Mariners, Bellingham Giants, and Salem-Keizer Volcanoes as the team's radio announcer and public address announcer. He was a past president of the Silver Lake Kiwanis Club. WALKER, James H., the son of Everson pioneers and a former mayor of the city (Everson?), has died at age 94. Walker served two terms as mayor, from June 1941 to December 1943. He also served on the City Council. He died in Oak Harbor on Monday, two days after his birthday (Sept. 9, 1996). Born Sept. 7, 1902 in Everson, he operated Walker's Store there for many years, retiring at age 72. He moved to Oak Harbor in 1990 to be near his children. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at Greenacres Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

WALKER, John F. - A memorial service for Blaine resident John F. Walker Jr., 50, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Jerns-McKinney Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Don Walter officiating. Mr. Walker, of 4917 Henley Road, Blaine, died at his home Friday (March 16, 1990) after being in poor hearth for many years. He was born Feb. 2, 1940, in Kansas City, Mo., to John and Elaine Walker. He grew up in California, and lived there most of his life. He moved to Blaine last August, with his friend and companion Maxine Markle, from Rosamond, Calif. Mr. Walker was an avid model airplane builder, and designed cable television systems for a living. He worked for the Gerald Cable Company in many different parts of the United States. Survivors include Markle, of the family home; his parents and his daughter Julie Walker, all of Calif.; his sister Judy Hollis of Colorado; and his brother Dennis Walker of Florida.

WALKER, Lera Mae - for Lera Mae Walker of Bellingham will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Westford Funeral Home. Services will be held later. Mrs. Walker died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 1995, at Sehome Park Care Center. She was 86. Born Dec. 15, 1908, to Jasper and Ellen Sneed Wilson in Prescott, Ark., she grew up in New Mexico. She graduated from the University of Colorado and taught school in New Mexico. She married James Walker in 1930 in New Mexico. They moved to Bellingham from the Panama Canal Zone in 1963. Mrs. Walker loved children, reading and collecting trolls. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992. Survivors include daughters Joan Smith of Bellingham and Virginia Graham of McMinnville, Ore., six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was born May 25, 1932, in Virden, Manitoba. He owned and operated a well-drilling firm in Delta, B.C., for many years. Ten years ago he moved to Whatcom County, Where he established A American Water Wells. Survivors include his mother, Mary walker of Delta, B.C.; a sister, Clara Jones of Sudden Valley; and a brother, Gene Walker of Winnipeg, Manitoba. The body will be cremated. WALKER, Marjorie L., 76, 2836 North Shore Drive, died Oct. 30, (1992) at her home. Private family services will be held at a later date. She was born Marjorie Newton of May 7, 1992 (sic), to Robert and Mary McGregor Newton in Troy, Idaho. She graduated from Eastern Washington State College with a master's degree in education. She married Del Walker on Aug. 16, 1939. She was a teacher who enjoyed gardening and spending time with her children. She taught in Denver, Portland, and Azusa, Calif. She and her husband moved to Bellingham after retiring in 1978. Survivors include her husband, Del; sons, Scott of Bellingham and Mike of Deming; a daughter, Judith Lyn Walker of Bellingham; a sister, Marilyn Hornback of Portland, Ore.; and five grandchildren. Arrangements and services are by Jerns-Leveck Funeral Chapel and Crematorium.
WALKER, Margaret Ann, age 58, 901 Highland Dr., passed away Mon. Oct. 19, (1981). Mrs. Walker had been a life resident of Whatcom County. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church; The Chancel Guild of St. Paul's; PEO Chapter EA; past secretary of Visiting Nurses. She leaves to survive her husband Gordan of the family home; 2 sons, Brent L. Walker of Darien, Conn., Scott K. Walker of City; 3 grandchildren; her mother Edna M. Fisher of City. Funeral services are pending at the Westford Funeral Home.
(From The Bellingham Herald, 20 Oct 1981) Submitted by Merrily Lawson.WALKER, Marilyn Anne, formerly a resident of Pleasanton, CA, Point Roberts, WA and most recently of Eugene, OR, died in her sleep on June 16, 2007 at the age of 74 due to complications of Alzheimer's. Marilyn was the daughter of Joseph and Marion Higgs, born April 16, 1933 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Jack, in 1996. She is survived by her sons Greg and his wife Shari of Sparks, NV; Brett of Santa Barbara, CA; and Blake and his wife Jennifer of Eugene, OR; and one granddaughter, her brothers Geoff Higgs of Pender Harbour, B.C.; Barry Higgs of Coquitlam, B.C.; and her sister Eleanor Chapman of Vernon, B.C. A memorial service is pending.

Mrs. Walker had been a resident of Everson since 1893 and had attended and graduated from the Lynden Normal School. She had taught at the Clearbrook School and several other schools within the county. She has been employed by the Morse Hardware Co., as bookkeeper for several years prior to 1900. She was a member of the Everson Presbyterian Church and the Whatcom County Clam Diggers Assn. Surviving are her husband, John; one son, James, both of Everson, also two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Gillies Funeral Home in Sumas, Monday, Nov. 27, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Neil Higbee officiating. Burial will follow in the Nooksack Cemetery.
WALKER, Rebecca Anne, age 72, who resided at 2329 Utter St., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 22, following an extended illness. Mrs. Walker was a pioneer of Whatcom County, having resided here for the past 70 years. She was a member of the First Advent Christian Church. She leaves to survive her husband, Charles B. Walker of the family home; one daughter, Mrs. Elma Harriman of Bellingham; two sons, Charles C. and Gordon D. Walker, both of California, also five grandchildren. Rev. Donald Wrigley will conduct funeral services on Thursday, Dec. 24, at 2 o'clock in the chapel of the Bingham & Jerns Funeral Home. Interment Greenacres Memorial Park.
WALKER, Robert E., age 87, 3715 Mill Avenue, passed away Saturday, March 16, (1963). Mr. Walker was a resident of this community for the past 40 years, was a retired fisherman and a member of Bellingham Lodge BPOE No. 194. Survivors are two brothers, Nathan and Grady Walker of Waynesville, N. Carolina; two sisters, Mrs. Flora B. Rogers, Catonsville, Md; Mrs. Pearl Justus, Waynesville, N. Carolina, and several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Ruth Beck, Moniter, Oregon, and Mrs. Novella Farrell of Eugene, Oregon. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Officers of Bellingham Lodge No. 194 BPOE, Wednesday, March 20 at 11 a.m. followed by cremation.
WALKER, Robert William, age 67, of 3219 Pinewood, passed away Mon. Dec. 12, 1988. A lifetime Whatcom County resident, born in Portland, OR March 21, 1921, he was a WWII Disabled Veteran, having joined the U.S. Navy in 1939; a member of BPO Elks Lodge No. 194 and a lifetime member of DAV. For many years, was a boater and "Snowbird" to Yuma, AZ. He is survived by his wife Jane of the family home; son, Robert Jr. who is currently stationed in the U.S. Navy in Pensacola, FL; daughter, Charla Buatte of Boise, ID; 2 grandchildren, Angela & Jennifer Buatte. WALKER, Rosie A., age 53, of 2720 Sterling Dr., passed away in a local hospital, Tuesday, Jan. 30, (1962) following an extended illness. Mrs. Walker had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 80 years. She leaves to survive one daughter, Bessie Griffin of Bellingham and one step-daughter, Mrs. Geva Ingram of Arlington; two granddaughters, Mrs. Gloria Trotto of this city and Mrs. Betty Mathewson of Seattle; three great-granddaughters, Kimberly and Carla Lea Trotto, both of this city, and Janna Dawn Mathewson of Seattle; one brother, Henry Miller of Everson, also numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 2, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Daugs officiating. Interment Bay View Cemetery.
WALKER, Thomas Freeman, of Lynden, passed away Tuesday, September 4, (1945) at the age of 87 years. Mr. Walker had been a resident of Lynden for the past six years and was a member of the Woodmen of the World. He leaves to mourn, one son, Enoch P., of Lynden; one grandson, Kenneth Walker, and five great-grandchildren, all of Salem, Oregon. The remains are resting at the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden and will be shipped to Salem, Oregon, where funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 8.

WALKER, Verna - Visitation for Verna Walker will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Greenacres Funeral Home followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Walker died Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997, in Oak Harbor. She was 91. Born April 18, 1906, she lived in Everson most of her life. She moved to Coupeville in 1990 and then to Oak Harbor. Mrs. Walker worked for Kale Cannery in Everson for many years. She was active in the Everson community, the Everson Senior Center and was a Presbyterian Church elder. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge. Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her husband of more than 70 years, James, in 1996. Survivors include daughter Mary Tippets of Coupeville, son Glenn Walker of Oak Harbor, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
WALKER, Violet Elizabeth "Vi" of 1200 Lincoln St., died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 1995, at home. She was 76. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday at Greenacres Funeral Home. A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Greenacres Memorial Park. Born Nov. 28, 1918, to Wesley and Laura Brewster Bliven in Little Woody, Saskatchewan, Canada, she moved to Whatcom County when she was 7. Mrs. Walker attended Lynden schools and graduated from high school in 1937. She married Francis L. Walker on June 26, 1937 and they moved to Bellingham. Mrs. Walker was a charter member of the Elks Auxiliary. She was artistic and enjoyed music, ceramics, painting and her grandchildren. Survivors include son Gary Walker of Everson; sisters Vera Thistle and Velaura Klineman, both of Bellingham; brothers Virgil Bliven of Bellingham and Victor Bliven of Sumas; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
