WACHTEL, Emma, age 76, of Chicago, passed way at a local hospital Friday, October 27, (1950) following a short illness. Mrs. Wachtel had been visiting her daughter, Mrs. Florence Comly, of Bellingham, for the past six months. Surviving relatives, beside Mrs. Comly, include three other daughters, Mrs. Leona Lindahl, of Lafayette, Ind., and Mrs. Margaret Magnuson and Mrs. Marion Benson, both of Chicago; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a brother, Ernest Ehlert, of Fairmont, Minn., and many nieces and nephews. The remains will be forwarded to Chicago, Ill., for services and interment by the Westford-Beck Funeral Home.WADDELL, Jerry M. - Memorial services for Jerry M. Waddell Jr., 34, will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Lummi Island Community Church. He died May 16 in Spokane. He was born Nov. 29, 1949, in Bellingham, and moved with his family to Arlington, Va. He is survived by his wife, Robin, parents Jerry N. and Sally Waddell, two brothers, a grandmother in Bellingham, six aunts, three uncles, and numerous cousins. His body was cremated in Spokane. The Rev. Jeff Grant will officiate at the the memorial service.
WADDELL, Jerry N. died peacefully November 26, 2008 at the age of 81 of natural causes. Jerry was born September 14, 1927, and grew up in the Ozarks until he moved to Bellingham with his parents, John and Lillian Waddell, in 1944. He graduated from Bellingham High School in 1945, did a hitch in the Army, then attended Western Washington College of Education. He married Sallyann Nilsen of Lummi Island on December 10, 1948, and after graduating from Western with a BA in Economics in 1951, they settled in Juneau, Alaska where he began his lifelong career in education finance at both the state and federal levels. Jerry is survived by his wife and best friend, Sallyann, to whom he was married for 60 years. Sons Jeffrey L. Waddell of Ferndale and Jody G. Waddell of Bellingham. His grandchildren are Samuel J. Waddell of Pennsylvania, Sarah A. Taggart of Bellingham, Caroline B. Waddell of Ferndale, and John C. Waddell of Bellingham. He was predeceased by his mother and father, his son Jerry Jr., his brother Joseph J. Waddell of Juneau, Alaska; and sister Betty J. Kunzman of Spokane, Washington. Jerry and Sallyann are currently members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bellingham. Services will be announced.

WADDELL, William A., age 56, of 800 Victoria St., Sumas, passed away in Bellingham Thurs., Aug. 27th, (1987). He was born May 27, 1931 in Seattle, WA and had been a resident of this community for the past 25 years. He married the former Sharon Link Jan. 3, 1959 in Tacoma. He was a member of the Sumas Legion Post 212, Bellingham Elks Club, Bellingham Yacht Club, Veteran of Korea and he was a graduate of PLU in 1957. He was preceded in [death] by his parents, brother Fred Heany, sister-in-law Amber Heany. He leaves to survive his wife, Sharon of the family home; son, Scott Waddell of Seattle; daughter, Stacy Waddell & husband Stephen Carlson of Seattle; brother, Archie & wife Olivia Heany of Tacoma, Harold & wife Maxine Heany of Tacoma, Bruce & wife Jackie Waddell of Graham; sisters, Florence & husband Frank Davis of Wenatchee, Betty & husband Bill Larsen of Lynnwood, Bonnie Schlerman of Tacoma; numerous nieces & nephews. WADDILOVE, Gertrude Irene - A memorial service for Gertrude Irene Waddilove will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Garden Street United Methodist Church. Cremation and inurnment will be at Greenacres Memorial Park. Mrs. Waddilove died Saturday, Oct. 1, 1994, at her home in Federal way. She was 99. Born Aug. 11, 1895, to Charles Walter and Ellen Susannah Burkholder Wright in Webster, S.D., she married Maurice Waddilove Aug. 10, 1920. The Waddiloves moved to Bellingham in 1930. She was a member of Garden Street United Methodist Church and was actives in its Rhoda Fellowship. She moved to Burien in 1990 and Federal Way in 1992. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1956. Survivors include her daughter, Lois E. MacIntyre of Kent, four grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. WADDILOVE, Maurice, age 61, of Longview, Wash., passed away in that city Monday, March 19, (1956) as a result of a heart attack. Mr. Waddilove had lived in Longview for the past five years, prior to that was a resident of Bellingham. He was a member of the Community Church of Longviw and the Kiwanis Club. While living in Bellingham he was very active in civic and county affairs. He leaves to survive his wife Gertrude of Longview; two daughters, Mrs. Lois Cross of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Ozella Beechinor of Prescott, Wash.; two sisters, Mrs. Violet Smith of New York, Mrs. Bertha Rostron of Alabama; also six grandchildren. Frank Harris of Seattle will officiate at funeral services Thursday, March 22, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home. Interment Greenacres Memorial Park.

WADE, Eunice M., age 82 of Bellingham went to her Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 6, 2008. She was born on July 8, 1925 in Franklin County, Kansas to John and Dora (Glaser) Watts. Eunice graduated from Appanoose High School in Kansas, and married George Irvin Wade in Ottawa, KS on August 21, 1944. The family moved to Bellingham in 1956. Eunice attended Cornwall Church and loved to do crafts, read, and play solitaire. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Glenn; and her husband, George who passed away in November of 1977. Eunice is survived by her children, Dorothea Ann Sanchez (Rudy) of Portland; Martha Marie Russell of Ferndale, Irvin Lee Wade (Leslie) of Bellingham, Phyllis Elaine Wade of Olympia, and John Ivan Wade (Claudine) of Goldendale; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Naomi White; and numerous nieces and nephews. He had been both a heavy equipment operator and a Real Estate Caretaker. He came to Ferndale in 1956 where he lived until moving to Olympia 3 years ago. He was a Veteran of WWII and a member of American Legion Post in Ferndale. Surviving are his wife Eunice,2 sons: Irvin Wade of Sedro Woolley and John Wade of Olympia. 3 daughters, Dorothea Daggett of Portland, Ore., Martha Russell of Greece and Phyllis Wade of Seattle. 3 brothers: Kenneth Wade of Florida, Raymond Wade of Longview, Texas and Raleigh Wade of B'ham. 1 sister Edith Hufford of Pamona, Kansas. 4 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thurs. Dec. 1 at 1 p.m. by Rev Donald Russell at the Jones Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Wade, an employe at Stokely Van Camp and member of the Cannery Workers Local No. 788, had lived in Sedro Woolley since 1934. Survivors include the widower Raymond, Burlington; one son, Lester, of Clear Lake; one daughter, Margaret Sheehan, Berthod, Colo.; two brothers, Ben Krahn of Fairfield, Idaho, and William Krahn of Pomonia Park, Fla.; two sisters, Marie Pope and Annie Hardman of Richfield, Idaho, and nine grandchildren.
WADE, Ralph Kenneth of Bellingham died Saturday, Aug. 2, 1997, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was 66. At his request, no service will be held. Born Aug. 4, 1930, to George and Lydia Atwood Wade in Cherryvale, Kan., he moved to Bellingham in 1978. Mr. Wade enjoyed music and telling stories. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Theodore, Raymond and George. Survivors include his daughter, Leatrice Ishan of Big Sandy, Texas; sister Edythe Hufford of Ottawa, Kan.; brother Raleigh Wade of Bellingham; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. WADE, Robert T., of 7062 Guide Meridian, Lynden, passed away in Seattle VA Hospital, Sept. 15, (1977). He was Senior Vice Commander of Bellingham Chapter 19 DAV. WADE, Ruth C., age 64, of 2900 Patton Street, Bellingham, passed away in a Seattle hospital, Friday March 2, (1962) following an extended illness. She had been a resident of the State of Washington since 1928 and had made her home in Bellingham since 1956. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband, E. F. Wade; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Gonser of Sumas, Mrs. Esther Hand of Ferndale, Mrs. Nora Mae Smith of Independence, Kan., four brothers, George Catron, Oklahoma City, Okla., Louis Catron of Cherryvale, Kan., Ralph and Roy Catron, both of Seattle. Also numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden Tuesday, March 6, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Ivan R. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
WAGAR, Donald Wellman - A memorial service for Donald Wellman Wagar of Sedro-Woolley will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Greenacres Funeral Home chapel with Gene Hatch officiating. Mr. Wagar died Thursday, June 12, 1997, at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon. He was 69. Born Dec. 19, 1927, to Frederick and Eloise Jenkins Wagar in Bellingham, he moved to Skagit County in 1987. Mr. Wagar served in the Marine Corps during the 1940s and the Korean War. He married Blanche "BeBe" King on Oct. 10, 1975, in Lynden. A member of the American Legion, Mr. Wagar retired as a supervisor from the Whatcom County Road Department. He enjoyed traveling in his motor home, fishing, working on computers and building and remodeling his home. Survivors include his wife of the family home; sons Ronald Wagar of Ferndale and Roy Hinkle of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters Cheri Wagar of Bellingham, Judy Brown of Mount Vernon and Nancy Hinkle of Bellingham; brother Richard Wagar of Lynden; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
WAGAR, Eloise I., age 81 of 120-A Beard Rd., Lynden, passed away Wed., Nov. 8, 1989 at St. Joseph's Hospital - Main Campus. She was born January 9, 1908 in Bellingham and had been a resident of Whatcom Co. most of her life. Mrs. Wagar was a member of First Baptist Church of Lynden and past president of the State Women's Missionary Board of the Spokane Association of the First Baptist Churches. She also held numerous other offices in her lifetime. Mrs. Wagar is survived by her husband of 62 years, Fred W.; 2 sons Donald Wagar & wife BeBe of Sedro Woolley, and Richard Wagar & wife Monta of Lynden; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; 2 sisters Marion Finzel of Clearwater, FL, and Betty Herrin of Blaine; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Mrs. Wagar was preceded in death by sister Dorothy Dixon in 1926. Memorial services will be held Monday, Nov. 13 at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Lynden, and a private family graveside services will be at Greenacres Memorial Park. WAGAR, Frederick B., age 82 of 1303 11th St., passed away Sunday March 1, (1959). Mr. Wagar had resided in Bellingham for the past 54 years. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen and the Odd Fellows Lodge; a retired machinist for E. K. Wood Lumber Co. in Anacortes. He leaves to survive 4 sons, Hugh of this city, Bruce of Port Townsend, Fred of Falls City, Idaho and Marc of Seattle, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Bert Wagar of Vancouver, B.C. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 3 at 1:30 p.m. from the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with Rev. Don Swerdferger officiating. Followed by cremation.
WAGAR, Frederick Wellman, 86, of Lynden passed away Thursday, Dec. 3, 1992 at St. Joseph Hospital Main Campus. He was born Oct. 4, 1906 in Bellingham to F. Bruce and Nettie Beede Wagar and grew up on the south side of Bellingham. He married Eloise I. Jenkins on Jan. 15, 1927 in Bellingham. She preceded him in death Nov. 8, 1989. Mr. Wagar was a maintenance man and millwright most of his life, working for the old E. K. Wood Lumber Co. in Bellingham and in Anacortes and for Georgia-Pacific Plywood Mill Bellingham. After a few years at dairy farming in Whatcom County, he returned to maintenance work. When Georgia-Pacific closed down its plywood mill in Bellingham, Idaho Veneer Co. of Post Falls, Idaho, bought some of the machinery and asked Mr. Wagar to help dismantle and crate up the equipment because he had helped build the mill there and stayed with that company as mill wright until he retired in 1970. He then returned to make his home in rural Lynden. Mr. Wagar and his wife joined the Baptist Church in the early 1930s and wee active in their church in many different capacities the rest of their lives. He served in men's work and as a deacon at various time. At the time of his death he was active in the First Baptist Church in Lynden. He is survived by his two sons, Donald W. Wagar and wife BeBe of rural Sedro Woolley and Richard F. Wagar and wife Monta of rural Lynden; and 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bruce, Hugh and Marc. A family graveside service was held Tuesday at Greenacres Memorial Park. A memorial service was held Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Lynden, with Pastor Hoyt Sherwin officiating. Arrangements were under the care of Greenacres Funeral Home.
WAGAR, Hugh R., 2337 2nd Ave., Seattle, age 61, passed away in that city. Mr. Wagar was a fifty-year resident of this city before moving to Seattle ten years ago, and was a former member of the Bellingham Fire Dept. He was a member of the Lumber & Sawmill Workers Union, Local No. 2519, Seattle. Survivors are a son, Roland A. Wagar, city; two daughters, Mrs. Jacqueline Rader, Mt. Vernon; Mrs. Gayle Tapia of Cypress, Calif; three grandchildren; three brothers, Bruce of Port Townsend; Fred of Post Falls, Idaho, and Marc of Seattle. Services will be conducted Thursday, June 23 at 1 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home, followed by cremation.
WAGAR, Jesse P., a resident of Blaine, passed away at his home Tuesday, June 25, (1946). Mr. Wagar had been in the U.S. customs office at Blaine for the past nine and one-half years and is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sarah Wagar; one daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Moritz, of Blaine; one sister, Mrs. Lydia Singer, of Spokane, and one granddaughter, Linda Kay. The body rests at the McKinney Funeral Home in Blaine, where Christian Science funeral service will be read Friday, June 28 at 2 p.m. by Mrs. Emily James of Whiterock, B.C. Graveside services will be conducted by the Kulshan Masonic Lodge. Interment in Blaine Cemetery.
WAGAR, Marshall Andrew - Memorial services for former Bellingham resident Marshall Andrew Wagar, 84, were held Tuesday in Fairfield, Calif. Mr. Wagar died Friday (March 2, 1990) at his home in Fairfield. Born in Nebraska, Mr. Wager moved to Bellingham after his retirement in 1977 for Springfield, Or., where he was employed at the Georgia-Pacific Lumber Mill in Eugene. He had recently moved to Fairfield. A member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Bellingham, Mr. Wagar was an avid sports fan. Survivors include his wife, Ellen Wagar of the family home; a daughter, Kay Ilene Roberts of Montana; a son, Charles C. Wagar of Fairfield, Calif.; two sisters, Carol Kincaid of Nebraska, and Margaret Wagar of Oregon; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Arrangements by Bryan-Baker Funeral Home in Fairfield, Calif.
WAGAR, Phillis Pearl died on Aug 21, 2007 in her home with her family. She was born to Donald and Elizabeth Johnston on Oct. 7, 1923. She was 83 when she passed. She is survived by son Ronald and daughter Cheri; three grandchildren Shawn, Christina and Travis; six great-grandchildren, Crystal, Kanishya, Jade, Tiana, Taylor and Tobais. She was a retired telephone operator of thirty years.

Wagelie, 84, Blaine, were conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Blaine Lutheran Church by Rev. Daniel Martin. She died Feb. 10, (1972). Burial was in Blaine Cemetery under the direction of Veroske's McKinney Funeral Home. Mrs. Wagelie had been a resident of Blaine since 1902, moving here from Nebraska. She was a member of the Blaine Lutheran Church and Royal Neighbors of America.
WAGELIE, Betty O., age 61 of Blaine, passed Sunday, October 4, 1981. Born in Custer, she was a life long area resident. She worked for Alaska Packers for many years; she was charter member of the Grace Lutheran Church; Royal Neighbors; and the senior Center of Blaine. She is survived by a brother Mick Wagelie and a sister Elinor Day, both of Blaine; numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted Friday, October 9 at 1 p.m. in Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Dennis Wildermuth officiating. Arrangements by Jerns McKinney Funeral Chapel.

WAGGLE, Jim, age 80 years, passed away at a local hospital, Sunday, March 24, (1946). Mr. Waggle had been a resident of this community for the past 30 years. He is survived by one brother, William Waggle, of Porterville, California, and a niece, Mrs. Mary E. Smiley, of Portland, Ore. Funeral services will be conducted from the Rose Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home, Tuesday morning, March 26, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. WAGNER, Christie - Private family services will be conducted for Mrs. Christie Wagner, age 91, who died in Bellingham on Sunday, May 13, (1984). Burial was in Greenacres Memorial Park. Mrs. Wagner, formerly of 7441 Hannegan Road, Lynden, was born on August 2, 1892 and had been a lifetime Lynden resident. She was a 50-year member of the Ten Mile Grange and had also been active in many neighborhood community clubs. She was married to her husband Charles in Lynden on April 9, 1913; Mr. Wagner died in 1970. She is survived by a son Ralph and wife Sarah of Lynden; two grandchildren, Dennis and wife Nancy of Lynden and Joni Hadgson of Lynnwood; and four great-grandchildren. Arrangements are under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden.

Miss Wagner died Saturday in University Hospital, Seattle. Miss Wagner lived in Ferndale for 10 years. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta at the University of Washington and also attended Western Washington State College. She was a member of the United Church of Ferndale. Survivors include her parents; a sister, Jill of Seattle and a brother Gregory of Spokane; grandmothers, Mrs. Clifford Rolph of Prosser and Mrs. Jack Ban of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; and grandfather R. W. Wagner of Aberdeen.
WAGNER, Ernest, age 60, of 7441 Hannegan Rd., Lynden, passed away Sun. Jan. 18, 1981. Mr. Wagner had been a lifetime Whatcom County resident. He is survived by a brother, Ralph Wagner, Lynden; mother Christy Wagner, City; nephew Denny Wagner, Lynden; niece Joni Hodgson of Bothell. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. WAGNER, Glenn Snyder, age 86 of Bellingham, passed away January 20, 1998, at Alderwood Park Care Center. Mr. Wagner was born Sept. 11, 1911 in Snyder, Nebraska to August and Johanna Wagner. Glenn grew up on the family farm in Central City, Neb. In 1934 Nebraska suffered a devastating drought influencing Glenn's decision to enlist in the U.S. Navy. He served aboard various ships including the USS Pelias (Polly) during the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He separated from the Navy on March 18, 1957. Glenn then assumed employment with Western Washington College of Education from which he retired in 1962. He was a Master Mason, a member of the V.F.W., Fleet Reserve Association and the D.A.V. Glenn is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mina, of the family home; daughters, Cheryl and husband Jack Boring and Sharon Wagner; step-children, Barbara and husband Bob Barker, Warren Brester, Lloyd and his wife Gail Brester; his brother, Heber Wagner, of Nebraska; his sisters, Mildred of Nebraska, Irma of Texas and Clara of California; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday in the Jerns Funeral Chapel of Bellingham. A Military Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 23, 1998, at Greenacres Memorial Park followed by a reception at the family home. WAGNER, Minnie E., age 86 years, a former resident of the Bellingham Hotel, passed away in a local hospital Sunday, Nov. 4th, (1962) following a brief illness. Mrs. Wagner had resided here for the past ten years. She leaves to survive two sons, Alvord, of Vancouver, Wash., and Wallace in British Columbia, her daughter Mrs. Jean Shepherd, of Maple Falls; one brother James Harris and two sisters, Mrs. Sadie Blanchard and Mrs. Pearl Simpson; also three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. WAGNER, Scott J., age 25, of 20 Southwest 134th, Seattle, died early Sunday, (May 4, 1980) due to an automobile accident. Born May 17, 1954, in San Jose, Calif., he lived in Sunnyvale, Calif. until completely (sic) the 8th grade. He then moved with his parents to Bellingham and graduated from Sehome High School in 1972. In November of 1974 he entered the U.S. Marine Corp until his discharge in 1977. December 3, 1976 he married Linda Shiver in fall Brook, Calif. After his discharge he attended ITT Peterson School and in October 1978 he began working as a computer operator for Seattle City Light. He is survived by his wife Linda of the family home in Seattle; mother, Mrs. Janice Ashenbrenner of Port Orchard; father, Howard Wagner, Ashland, Oregon; 2 brothers, Stephen Wgner, Sacramento, Calif., Ronald Wagner, Ashland, Oregon; grandfather, Howard Wagner, Ashland, Oregon; one nephew. WAGONER, Leonard H., a former employee of the Civil Aeronautics Administration, died Wednesday in a Mount Vernon nursing center. Mr. Wagoner, 74, of Burlington and a former Alger resident, was born December 20, 1912, in Cody, Wyo. He an One E. Liston were married July 13, 1935, in WolfPoint, Mont. The moved to Washington in 1954 and lived in Alger from 1962 to 1984. Mrs. Wagoner died in March 1987. He was a retired electrician. Survivors include two daughter, Della Schingeck of Burlington and Judith Newlin of Texas; a son, Leslie Wagoner of Alger; a sister, Dorothy Snyder of Cody, Wyo; a brother N. C. Wagoner of Missoula, Mont.; his step-mother, Sylvia Huckins of Springfield, Ore.; a step-brother, Fred Baldwin also of Springfield, Ore.; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. WAGONER, Ona E., 70, of Burlington and formerly of Alger, died Monday at her home. She was born Jan. 12, 1917, in Glasgow, Mont. She married Leonard H. Wagoner July 13, 1935, in Wolfpoint, Mont. The Wagoners came to Washington in 1954, and made their home in the Alger area from 1963 until moving to Burlington in 1985. A son, Walter Wayne Wade, and three grandsons died earlier. Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Della Schingeck of Burlington and Judith Newlin of Sinton, Texas; a son, Leslie Wagoner of Alger; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Minnie Roan of Clinton, Mont., and a brother, William Liston of Crossville, Tenn. At her request, no services will be conducted. Arrangements are by Hulbush Funeral Home in Burlington.
WAGTER, Herman of San Antonio, Texas, died Oct. 10, (1982) after a long illness. he was 66. He was born Sept. 15, 1915, in Platte, S.D. He spent 20 years in the Army Reserves in Alaska, Guam and Texas. He is survived by his wife, Margaret, two step children and five grandchildren. Also surviving are seven brothers and sisters: Jacob Wagter and Bill Wagter of Lynden; Henrietta Waffle of Seattle; John Wagter of Beresford, S.D.; Dorothy Anne Johnson of Academy, S.d.; Edward Wagter of Long Beach, Calif.; and Josephine Vos of Sacremanto, Calif.

Burial will be at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday in Monumenta Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Second Christian Reformed Church with the Revs. Tom Haan and Ron Slater officiating. Mr. Wagter died at home Friday, July 10, 1998. He was 84. Born Feb 15, 1914 to John and Jennie Kredit Wagter in Harrison, SD, he moved to Lynden in 1936. Mr. Wagter married Minnie Oordt in Lynden on March 21, 1941. That same month, he entered the U.S. Army. He was discharged later that same year because of being a farmer. Mr. Wagter and his wife operated a dairy farm on Kamm Road for many years. He also worked as a self-employed carpenter. Mr. Wagter was a member and former elder of Second Christian Reformed Church. In 1996, he was honored as male volunteer of the year for his work with Laymen's League and Project Hope. He also enjoyed making windmills. Mr. Wagter was preceded in death by his brothers Herman Wagter and John Wagter, and by a granddaughter Tania Zima. Survivors include his wife; daughters Jean Heeringa of Ferndale, Ruth Zima of Lynden and Fran Meyer of Snohomish; son Gordon Wagter of Lynden; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers Bill Wagter of Lynden and Edward Wagter of Yuma, Ariz.; sisters Henrietta Waffle of Renton, Josephine Vos of Sacramento, Calif., and Dorothy Johnson of Platte, SD; and numerous other relatives.

She was born Florence Evelyn Bice on June 18, 1909, in Connell, Wash. Mrs. Wagy had lived in Everett since 1950. Before then, she lived in Ferndale. She was the daughter of Dr. Gerald and Nelly Bice, a pioneer family that settled in Ferndale in the early 1900s. Mrs. Wagy attended Ferndale schools, graduating from high school. She also was a University of Washington graduate. She was a special education teacher in the Everett School District until she retired in 1974. Survivors include her husband, John, of the family home; daughters Florence Lee Chovanak of Lake Stevens, Marcella Dobb of Puyallup and Lynne Bryant of Bremerton; six grandchildren; and other relatives, including cousin Nelda Peterson Sigurdson of Ferndale. Graveside services were on Wednesday in Everett.

Mrs. Wahl had been a resident of Bellingham since 1904 and was the widow of the late J. B. Wahl who died in 1937. She is survived by four daughters, Miss Bernice Wahl, of this city, Mrs. Helen Lindblom, in Everett, Mrs. Evelyn Macklin, of Coronado, Calif.; Mrs. Mary Riseland, of Seattle; three sons, Harold J., Ralph E., and Loren L., all of this city, and two sisters, Mrs. George Winter and Mrs. Mary Bisenius, in Minnesota. Mrs. Wahl was a member of the Church of the Assumption; also the Foresters and Altar Society, and a member of the Women of Rotary. Rosary will be said Monday, April 7, at 7:30 p.m. within the Chapel of the Bingham-Dahlquist-Jerns Funeral Home. Requiem High Mass will be sung Tuesday, April 8, at 9:30 a.m. within the Church of the Assumption with the Rev. Father Bernard Cremer celebrant. Miss Wahl had resided in this community for 58 years; was manager of the Cosmetic Dept. of Wahl;'s Dept. Store for many years and was a member of the Church of the Sacred Heart. Surviving relatives include three brothers, Harold J., Loren L. and Ralph E. Wahl, all of Bellingham; three sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Macklin of Coronado, Calif., Mrs. Mary Riseland of Seattle, and Mrs. Helen Lindblom of Everett, Wash., also many nieces and nephews. WAHL, Bertha Rosalin, age 102, died September 23, 1997. A Mass of Christian Burial will be recited by Fr. Patrick Freitag at Church of the Assumption, 12:15 p.m. Friday, September 26, 1997. Interment will follow at Bayview Cemetery. She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church and former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She lived on Briar Road from 1936 to 1982. She was born in Waterville, Minnesota, April 12, 1895 to Alosi and Rosa (Lenhart) Hoschka. Preceding her in death was her husband Harold, who died in 1980, son Bernard and daughter Enda Mae. Bertha and Harold were married June 1, 1921 in Sacramento, California. She was a designer of hats and Harold was editorial cartoonist for the Sacramento Bee. They moved to Bellingham in 1927 to help his father J. B. Wahl manage Wahl's Department Store and Grand Theater through the depression years. Many nieces and nephews survive her of which; Dan Lindblom and wife Chong of Bellingham, John Riseland and wife Brenda of Ferndale, Terry Wahl and wife Robin of Bellingham, Lucille Krause of Waterville, MN and Mary Haney of Portland, OR. WAHL, Carl Albert, aged 68 years, 210 West Illinois Street, passed away at a local hospital, Wednesday, February 28, (1945) following an illness of one month. Mr. Wahl had been a resident of Bellingham for the past thirty-five years and was a member of the Lutheran Church, also the Bellingham Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 31. Surviving relatives include one son, Art Wahl, of Tacoma; one daughter, Mrs. Harold Stahley, of Bellingham; two granddaughters, Mrs. Glee Klein, of "Bellingham, and Miss Louise Wahl, of Tacoma. WAHL, Harold, age 81 of 312 Briar Rd., passed away Sunday April 27, (1980). Mr. Wahl was a longtime resident of Bellingham; one of the owners of Wahl's Dept. Raymond Wahl of Mountlake Terrace will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Beck's Funeral Home in Edmonds. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Saxon Cemetery. The Rev. Wahl died Sunday, Oct. 1, 1995, in Edmonds. He was 80. Born Feb. 7, 1915 in Fairview, Okla., he graduated from Southwestern Bible College in Enid, Okla. He married Velda Loy Brantner in 1935. The Rev. Wahl was pastor of Acme Assembly of God church for 21 years, then was a pastor at Grace Chapel in Mountlake Terrace. He recently was honored for 50 years of ordination with Assemblies of God. Survivors include his wife of Mountlake Terrace; sons Jon Wahl of Mountlake Terrace and Dr. David Wahl of Kirkland; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Born in Bellingham, Washington, on November 13, 1932, Richard graduated from Bellingham High school, attended Western Washington University and graduated from the University of Washington. He was active in drama at all three schools. Richard worked in Seattle at radio stations KOMO and KIRO and later moved to Los Angeles where he spent the next 20 years working as a news reporter and correspondent for American Broadcasting. After retirement Richard taught journalism at California State College, Northridge, inspiring a new generation with his respect for the principles of broadcast news. Richard was married to Donna who loved him for 44 years and will continue to do so. His family: eldest son, Jeffrey and wife, Claudia; daughter Stephanie Lauer and husband, Fritz; son Christopher and wife, Carol; son Jonathan and his wife Tracy and son Nicholas. He had three grandchildren, Ivan, Henry and Skyler Rose. He is also remembered by his brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Robin, his brother Ed, and his aunt, Sue Streubal and her husband Lloyd, all of whom live in Bellingham.

WAHL, Viola Fern, age 77, of Bellingham, WA died Sunday, April 17, 1994 at Mt. Baker Care Center. She was born in Ferndale, WA, January 11, 1917 to Arthur and Nina Rohrbacher. Her growing up years were in Idaho, Ferndale and Bellingham. During WWII she served in the Woman's Army Corps and returned to Bellingham where she married Ben Thompson. They lived in Lynden for a number of years. Fern was a buyer and merchandise manager for Wahl's store in Bellingham for three decades. In 1976 Fern married Ralph Wahl. Preceded in death by her parents and recently by a brother, Milton Rohrbacher of Bellingham. Survivors include her husband, Ralph E. Wahl of Bellingham and his sons, Terence R. Wahl of Bellingham, Richard E. Wahl of Los Angeles, CA, and Edward J. Wahl of Seattle; her stepson Ben Thompson, Jr. of Portland, OR; several cousins, and numerous friends in the Bellingham area. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Westford Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 21, 1994 at Bayview Cemetery with Jim Gerwing officiating.
WAHLBERG, Lucille, of 3200 Northwest Ave., passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, April 27, (1966). She was a lifetime resident and a member of the Unity Church of Truth and the VFW Auxiliary Laurel Post. Survived by her husband, Leslie C.; 3 brother, E. Meredith Ross, city; Donald Ross of Bremerton; Marshall Ross of Victoria, B.C.; 1 sister, Mrs. Glenister Dews, city, many other relatives. The remains will lie in state until noon Saturday, April 30 within the Westford Funeral Home. Cremation. WAHLENMAIER, Elizabeth, age 76, passed away Sunday, Oct. 23, (1966). Mrs. Wahlenmaier had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 5 years and was formerly secretary for Best's Apparel. WAHLGREN, Roy, age 84, of 3115 Squalicum Pky., B'ham, passed away Friday, November 11, 1994. He was born to John and Jennie Wahlgren on July 11, 1934 in Huntington Park, California. He worked for many years as a machinist before retiring to Hemet, CA. He moved to Bellingham in 1990. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary in 1980 and a brother, Clint; he is survived by his daughter Donna and her husband Byron Johnson of Bellingham; granddaughter, Jenny and husband Gary Hegland of Bellingham; grandson, Mark Johnson of Custer; granddaughter, Natalie Johnson of Anacortes; great-grandson, Bradley Hegland of Bellingham; sister, Margariete Hodkin of Santa Ana, CA; brother, Jim Wahlgren of Anaheim, CA and numerous nephews. WAHLGREN, Sarah, age 89, who was a former resident of Vancouver, B.C., passed away in a local hospital Tuesday, March 3, (1959) following an extended illness. WAHLSTRAND, Minnie Sophie (Siefke) of Bellingham passed away Fri., Jan. 30, 2004 in Bellingham. She was born Aug. 9, 1903, in Walla Walla to Henry and Martha (Kohn) Siefke. At the age of 12, she moved with her family to North Dakota. After two and half years she moved back to Washington, to a farm in North Bellingham. Because of the remote location of her home in North Dakota and needing to work on the family's farm in North Bellingham, she wasn't able to complete schooling but at age 18 she returned to school and graduated from Meridian High School at the age of 22 as valedictorian of her class. She is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed playing bingo and watching the Seattle Mariners. Survived by her daughters Betty Hartness (Wally) of Mount Vernon and Gloria Johnson of Palm Desert, CA, six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Millard Wahlstrand in 1958. Visitation Fri., Feb. 6, 10 - 1 p.m. in Greenacres|Moles Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at 1:30 p.m. in Greenacres|Moles Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Doug Iben.

WAITE, James A., age 89, of 1335 Franklin St., passed away in a local hospital Tuesday, Jan. 14, (1958). Mr. Waite was a retired farmer and for 30 years had resided on Orcas Island before moving to Bellingham four years ago. Deceased was a member of the Baptist Church and leaves to survive one daughter, Mrs. Lois A. Boyer of Bellingham; three grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted from the Olga Community clubhouse Friday, Jan. 17, at 1 p.m. under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home. Interment to follow in the Olga Cemetery.

WAITE, Wesley Grant, for many years a former resident of this community prior to moving to Tenino, Wash., passed away in a Centralia hospital Friday, June 22, (1956). Mr. Waite was a member of the Garden St. Methodist Church, and for many years had been custodian of that church. WAITS, Marie, age 67 of 202 North 34th Street, Bellingham, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 1982. She was an X-ray Technician and RN and was employed by Dr. Nowak for 10 1/2 years. Born in Minnesota, she had been a resident of this area since 1970. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Vancouver and member of Eastern Star, Billings, Montana. She is survived by a son, C. Allen Waits of Algona; 2 daughters, Barbara Waits of Bellingham; Susan Chambers of Washougal; a sister, Ruth Thomas of Montana; 4 grandsons. Services will be held Saturday, June 19 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Jerns & LeVeck.
WAKEFIELD, Bonnie Lea - A funeral service was held Friday, August 18, (1989) for Bonnie Lea Wakefield in Greenacres chapel, with pastor John Ruhlman officiating. Interment followed in Greenacres Memorial Park. She died Wednesday, August 16, 1989, at the Christian Rest Home in Lynden. Mrs. Wakefield was born on March 9, 1905, in Van Buren, Mo. She was married to J.B. Wakefield on Jan. 8, 1922, in Clear Springs, Mo. They moved to Lynden in 1927, where they farmed and raised strawberries for many years. She was preceded in death by two grandsons; her husband, J. B.; and a daughter Faye Voskamp. She is survived by two daughters, Stella McPhail of Blaine and Maudell Menser and husband Vernon of Lynden; seven grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; a brother, Marvin Dawson of Lynden; and two sisters, Sarah Clark and Letha Miller, both of Van Buren, Mo.

WAKEFIELD, Irwin G., age 69 of 5685 Sand Rd., passed away Tues. Sept. 9, 1980. Mr. Wakefield was a resident of this community most of his life. He was a retired cabinet maker for Columbia Valley; a member of Lumber & Sawmill Workers Union Local No. 2667 and the senior Activity Center. WAKEFIELD, John B., age 86, of 309 14th St., Lynden, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 21, in Lynden. He was born May 17, 1899, in Van Buren, Missouri. Mr. Wakefield had been a Whatcom County resident since 1927. He was a dairy farmer and strawberry grower for many years and loved the Outdoors and hunting. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of the family home; three daughters, Stella McPhail of Blaine, Faye Voskamp of Bellingham, Maudell Menser and husband Vernon of Lynden; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren. (two grandsons preceded him in death.) Funeral services were held Jan. 24 at Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Lee Greene of Sunrise Baptist Church in Custer officiating. Burial was held at Greenacres Memorial Park.

WAKEFIELD, Mary C., 78, of 702 32nd St., died Wednesday, July 1, 1992. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Born Dec. 22, 1913, in Saskatchewan, Canada to Alfred and Rose Jessie Sprague. Mrs. Wakefield was a clerk at Mannings and a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Her husband, Irwin Wakefield, died in 1984. Survivors include her sisters, Bernice Dale, of Bellingham, Alfreda Twedt of Corvallis, Ore., and Ruth King of Seattle. Arrangements by Jerns-LeVeck Funeral Home.
WAKEFIELD, Nellie, 67, of 1005-11th St., died today. She was a lifetime resident of Bellingham. Survivors include a daughter, Helen M. Gerner, and three grandsons, Wayne, Kenneth and Dale Gerner, all of Bellingham; and two sisters, Reese Conrad of Seattle and Pauline Blatchford of McLeese lake, B.C. At her request, no services are being held. The remains are being cremated.
WAKEFIELD, Thomas Harold, age 58, passed away suddenly at the family home, 1005 11th St., Monday, Sept. 8, (1958). Mr. Wakefield had resided in this community his entire life; was a member of the Alaska Fishermen's Union and the International Longshoremen and Warehousemen's Union, Local No. 7. Survivors are his widow, Nell, at home; one daughter, Mrs. Helen Gerner of Bellingham; two grandchildren; one brother, William, of Ketchikan; two half-brothers, Eldon, of Ketchikan, and Lee in Kentucky; four sisters, Mrs. Frances McMillan, in Indiana, Mrs. Mildred Culbertson, of Topeka, Kan., Mrs. Mae Majors in Nebraska, and Mrs. Gladys Denham in New York. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by the Rev. Don Kaelin, Thursday, Sept. 11, at 9 p.m. Final resting place, Bay View Cemetery.
