SESSUM, William C., 46, 722 North Shore Drive, died Saturday at his home. He was born April 23, 1939, in Lexington, Miss., and moved to this area in 1980. Mr. Sessum was a member of the Silver Beach Community Church. He was active in the Search and Rescue 4X4 Unit and was employed by Draper Valley Farms Inc. Survivors include his wife, Jennifer of the family home; his mother, Anne, of Ohio; three sons, Christopher and Michael of California and Steven of the family home; two daughters, Deborah and Cynthia of Seattle; one grandson; and two sisters, JoAnne Hoover and Sue Sessum of Ohio. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Silver Beach Community Church, 211 North Shore Drive, with the Rev. Paul Quenzer officiating. Arrangements are being handles by Whatcom Cremation Association.

SESTER, Herman Joseph, age 51, of Deming, passed away in a Seattle Hospital, Tuesday, Sept. 12, (1961). A resident of Deming for the past five years, Mr. Sester was a construction worker. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Deming, a past commander of Mt. Shuksan Post No. 224, American Legion, and the 40 et 8. Survivors are the widow, Owna I., at home; two brothers, Lloyd of Yakima, William of Enumclaw; four sisters, Mrs. Louise Oaks, Wapato; Mrs. Grace Frazier, Colorado; Mrs. Nona Leuning, Toppenish, and Mrs. Irene Laupp of Edmonds. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Rev. Kenneth Turney and officers of Mt. Shuksan Legion Post on Friday, Sept. 15, at 2:30 p.m. Final resting place Saxon Cemetery.

SESTROM, Carl Johan, age 57, of 2425 Elizabeth Street, passed away in a local hospital Saturday, May 8, (1954). Mr. Sestrom had resided in this community for the past 46 years and was a retired marine firemen. He was a veteran of the First World war, and was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Albert J. Hamilton Post No. 7 of American Legion, and the Marine Firemen's Union. Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Tillie H. Sestrom at home; a step-son, Ervin E. Dyrland; a step-daughter, Mrs. Jean Fox, both of Bellingham; four grandchildren; a brother, Julius Sestrom of Ketchikan, Alaska; a sister, Mrs. Sigruid McClaine of Sumner, Wash., and a number of nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by Rev. C. Stanton Peterson, Wednesday, May 12, at 3 p.m. Final resting place, Greenacres Memorial Park.

SESTROM, Frieda, aged 74 years, wife of Carl F. Sestrom, 3014 Willis Street, passed away at a local hospital, Monday, April 19, (1943) after an illness of two weeks. Mrs. Sestrom had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past thirty-seven years and was a member of the First Lutheran Church. Surviving relatives include, beside the husband, three sons and one daughter, Carl J. and Bert, both of Bellingham; Julius of Sedro-Woolley, and Mrs. Sigrid McClane, of Sumner, Wash.; four grandchildren, Dorothy, Billy and Carl McClane, of Sumner, Wash., and Dickie Sestrom, of Sedro-Woolley; also numerous nieces and nephews in Sweden. The remains are resting at the Bingham-Dahlquist Funeral Home where arrangements are being completed.

SESTROM, Karl S., age 82, passed away Wednesday, May 24, (1950) at a local hospital following a lingering illness. Mr. Sestrom had been a resident of the Bellingham district for the past 47 years. Survivors include three sons, Carl J., of Bellingham, Bert, of Bellingham, and Julius, of Petersburg, Alaska; one daughter, Mrs. Sigrid McLane, of Sumner, Wash.; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 26, at 2 o'clock in the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gordon Loren officiating. Interment Woodlawn.

SESTROM, Richard A., age 52, 8081 Guide Meridian Road, Lynden, died at his residence on Thursday, March 15, (1984) following an extended illness. Born on September 2, 1931, Mr. Sestrom was a lifetime county resident and prior to his illness had been employed at Intalco Aluminum Corp. for 14 years as a mechanical maintenance planner. He was married to Bonnie Krumdiack in Bellingham on August 16, 1975. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; a son, Richard, of Lynden; two daughters, Mrs. Carol and husband Ron Visser of Everson, and Mrs. Vicky and husband Duane Bakker of Bellingham; two step-sons, Jeff and Marty at home; a step-daughter, Laurinda, at home; and his father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Krumdiack of Bellingham. At his request, no services were conducted; cremation was under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home.

SESTROM, Tillie H., 89, of Bellingham, died Monday, August 8th, (1994), at St. Joseph Hospital. She was born October 21, 1904 in Norway to John and Ragla Hawkinson. She came to Bellingham in 1909. She had four sisters and three brothers. Mrs. Sestrom worked as a licensed practical nurse at St. Luke's Hospital . She was a member of Calvary Temple. She was preceded in death by her husbands Erik E. Dyrland and Carl J. Sestrom; son Ervin E. Dyrland and daughter Jean R. Fox. Survivors: grandchildren, David, Jack, Erik Dyrland and Joyce Bouma of Bellingham, Robert Fox of Billings, MT, James Fox of Ferndale, Carla Ness of Westport, WA, Karen Groff of Corvallis, OR, Alan Fox of Snoqualmie, WA; brother, Ralph Hawkinson of Seattle; sister, Ruth Bakke of Puyallup, WA; sister-in-law, Leah Torkelson of Stanwood, WA, son-in-law, Joe Fox of Bellingham; daughter-in-law, Mary Dyrland of Bellingham; 21 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Service Thursday August 11, 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Temple, Rev. Richard Strum officiating. Visitation Wednesday, August 10th from noon until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Jones-Moles Funeral Home.

SETH, Myrtle M., age 83 of Route 2 Everson, passed away in a local hospital Sunday, June 23, (1963) following an extended illness. She had been a resident of the Deming area for the past 3 years, moving here from Montana. Surviving are her husband, John, 1 daughter, Mrs. Vance Bronson, Route 2, Everson, 4 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, also 4 nieces, Mrs. J. W. Hayes, Mrs. Lee Day and Mrs. Ruth Ireland all of Bellingham and Mrs. H. E. Rittenberg of Capitola, Calif. Private funeral services were held Tuesday, June 25 at 1 p.m. at the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden, Rev. Neil Higbee officiated. Cremation.

SETHNEY, Barbara Jean, age 67 of Bellingham, WA, passed away February 14, 2002 at St. Joseph Hospital. She was born October 17, 1934 in Bellingham, WA to Ted and Elizabeth (Granlof) Chandler. She was a graduate of Bellingham High School. Barbara married Robert James Sethney October 25, 1952 in Bellingham, WA. She enjoyed camping with her husband and family at Birch Bay. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert Sethney June 1997 and her parents, Ted and Elizabeth Chandler. Survived by her daughters, Elizabeth and husband Tim Wilkie of Seward, Alaska, Karen and husband Charles Fife of Bellingham, WA, her son, Robert J. Sethney of Bellingham, WA, grandchildren, Susan and husband Rick, Justin, Lynda Jay, Adam and Jonathan. Services will be held in Steward, Alaska at a later date.

SETHNEY, Robert J. "Bob" age 67 of Bellingham, WA, died June 10, 1997 at Highland Conv. Center after a long hard battle with cancer. He was born in Kalispell, Montana to Emil and Minnie (Lein) Sethney and has lived 45 yrs. in Whatcom Co. Mr. Sethney graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma. He married Barbara Chandler Oct. 25, 1952 in Bellingham, WA. Mr. Sethney had been a member of the National Guard for many years and was retired from Columbia Cement after 34 yrs. as a bulk loader. He enjoyed sport fishing in Alaska with his son-in-law Tim Wilkie, coaching little league when his son was young, camping and the out of doors in general. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Elanie Brown, Mildred Ray and Leona Adamson; brothers, Harold, Raymond and Merl Sethney. Survived by his wife Barabra Sethney of the family home; daughters, Karen and husband Chuck Fife of Bellingham, Liz and husband Tim Wilkie of Seward, AK; son, Jay Sethney of Bellingham; grandchildren, Justin, Susan and Lynda Sethney of Bellingham, Adam and Jonathan Wilkie of Seward, AK. At his request there will be no public services. Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Westford Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

SETON, Adrienne, age 36, a resident of Star Route Leavenworth, Wash., for the past 6 years, passed away in a Seattle hospital Friday, Feb. 5th, (1960). Mrs. Seton leaves to survive her husband, Fred J., 4 daughters, Frances Anne, Cathryn Helen, Teresa Lael, Ruth Adrienne, 1 son Fred J. Jr. all at home, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Whitley of Bellingham, 1 brother, Robert F. Whitley of Concrete, 1 step-sister and 2 step-brothers. The remains rest the the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 1 p.m., the Rev. C. C. Hovda officiating. Final resting place Greenacres Memorial Park.

SETON, Donald A. age 76 of 700 32nd St., Bellingham passed away November 7, 1994 in Bellingham. Mr. Seton was born February 11, 1918 to W. F. and Lizzie (Friese) Seton in Sumas and has been a lifetime county resident. He was a retired logger. Survivors are his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Kay and Cliff Lewis of Warden, WA and numerous other relatives in Whatcom County. A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday November 10, 1994 at the Kendall Cemetery with Rev. Lawrence Guderian officiating. Visitation will be Wed. from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Thurs. 9:00 and (sic) 11:30 a.m. The Arrangements and services are under the direction of The Jerns LeVeck Funeral Chapel and Crematorium of Bellingham.

SETON, Grace E. - At her request, there will be no services for Grace E. Seton of Bellingham. Mrs. Seton died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, in Bellingham. She was 82. Born Feb. 3, 1918, to Robert and Eliza (Swader) Roland in Bellingham, she was a lifetime Whatcom County resident. Mrs. Seton worked as a dietary aide. Survivors include sons James and Jerry Johnson, both of Bellingham, Robert Johnson of Blaine and Alan Johnson of Alger brother John Roland of Bellingham two half-brothers in Kansas and a half-brother in Arkansas two half-sisters in Arkansas and many nieces and nephews. SETON, Louise - Mrs. Louis Seton, age 64, of 1817 Knox Avenue, passed away in a local hospital Monday morning, April 25, (1949) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Seton had been a resident of Bellingham for the past nine years, and was a former resident of the Kendall district. Surviving relatives include two daughters, Mrs. Helen Johnson and Mrs. Mae Gilfillen, both of Bellingham; five sons, Bruce, of Arlington, Fred J., of Sedro-Woolley, Donald of Sweet Home, Oregon, Harold and Richard, both of Bellingham; two sisters, Miss Martha Friese, of Snohomish, and Mrs. Lillian Storme, of Anacortes; one brother, Eugene Friese, of Snohomish; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Westford-Beck Funeral Home.

SETON, Margaret Lenora, age 53 of 3879 Bancroft Rd. passed away Thursday, Oct. 21, (1976). Mrs. Seton had been a life time resident of Bellingham and a member of Central Lutheran Church. She leaves to survive her husband, Donald A. of the family home; 4 brothers, Larence and Clarence both of Bellingham, Gerhard of Mt. Vernon and Lloyd of Darrington; 1 sister, Mrs. Jeannette Bentley of Ferndale; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 25 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with Leonard C. Ericksen officiating. Interment Kendall Cemetery.

SETON, Viola S., 88, of Arlington, died Feb. 14, 1993. A memorial service was held Feb. 20 at Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bruce B. Seton officiating. Private family graveside services were held at Greenacres Memorial Park. She was born Aug. 10, 1904 in Sumas to Carl and Ida Schuett. She married Bruce Seton in Sumas July 28, 1923. Mrs. Seton was a homemaker and was involved in the Whitehorse Community Clubhouse, Bellingham Moose Lodge and the Snohomish County Election Board. She is survived by her husband Bruce of the family home; two sons, Elmer Seton and W. E. (Gene) Seton of Port Townsend, sister Lois Loudensky of Selah; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

SETTER, Thomas, age 70 years, Courtney, B.C., passed away in that place Wednesday, July 9, following a lingering illness. Previous to his residence in Courtney, Mr. Setter had owned and operated a restaurant in Bellingham. Surviving relatives include three daughter, Mrs. Winnifred Quy, Snoqualmie Falls, Mrs. Henry Nein and Mrs. W. O. Peterson, both of Seattle; four grandchildren; also numerous other relatives in the East. The plans for the services at the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home have been changed. Funeral services will be held and interment made at Ocean Falls, B.C.

SETZER, Annabell, age 71, of 528 State St. passed away in a local hospital Friday, Nov. 16, (1962). Mrs. Setzer had resided in this community for the past 55 years and had attended the advent Christian Church. Surviving relatives are one daughter, Mrs. Edna Westin at home; two sons, John H. and Lewis C. both of Bellingham; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Carrie Kolb of Bellingham, also numerous nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Rev. Don E. Wrigley Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 1 p.m. Final resting place Bay View.

Mrs. Setzer had been a resident for the past 30 years and is survived by 2 sons, Robert of Springfield, Oregon; Richard of Bellingham; 1 daughter, Mrs. Barbara Weir of Portland, Oregon; 6 grandchildren. SETZER, Louis Clifford, age 65, of 2400 Humboldt St., passed away Sat. July 31, (1982). He was a retired commercial painting contractor. He is survived by 2 sons, Robert L. SETZER, Theodore Lewis, age 69, of 528 State Street, passed away in a local hospital, Wednesday, April 13, (1955). Mr. Setzer was a retired grocer and had resided in this community for the past 61 years. Surviving relatives include his widow, Mrs. Annabell Setzer at home; two sons, John H. of this city, and Lewis C. of Portland, Ore.; one daughter, Mrs. Edna Shay of Seattle; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Andrew of Fort Bragg, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews. SEUTZ, Don William, 53, formerly of Lynden, passed away in Sacramento, Calif., on Sunday, March 20, 1988. Born Jan. 4, 1936, in Washington, D.C., Seutz moved to Lynden in 1967 and lived here 20 years. He owned and operated Stake Out Tavern in downtown Lynden for many years and then Rustlers Inn on the Guide Meridian. He was active in the Lynden Lions Club, Boy Scouts, Little League and Camp Horizon. He served in the Green Beret Special Forces during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Janet M. Seutz, of Lynden; five sons, Lewis and Don in Alaska, Brian of Seattle, and Craig and Kevin of Soda Springs, Calif.; his mother and stepfather, Ava and Alfred Winborn of Sacrament, Calif.; one brother, Lewis Winborn of Lynden, and one sister, Ava Kress of Sacramento. Services will be at Hope Lutheran Church of Lynden on April 2 at 2 p.m.

SEVERSON, Betty Ann – A Celebration of Life for Betty Ann (Gargett) Severson of Blaine will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Jerns-McKinney Funeral Chapel in Blaine. Mrs. Severson died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000. Her age and birth date were withheld. Born and raised in Vancouver, B.C., she moved with her family to Tacoma in 1963. She retired to Birch Bay. She enjoyed playing golf. Survivors include her husband, Jack F. Severson of the family home; son Mark K. Severson of Canada; daughters Wendy Gay Brennan of Washington and Pamela Severson of Canada; and four grandchildren. [age 69]

SEVERSON, Betty F., age 46 of 1760 Robertson Rd., Bellingham, passed away Sat., Oct. 17, 1981 in Ashcroft, B.C. Mrs. Severson has been a resident of Whatcom County since 1967, was a member of the Christian Science Church and is survived by her husband, Richard H. Severson of Bellingham; 2 sons, Stanley in the U.S. Navy, Hawaii; Steven of Bellingham; 1 daughter, Sally-Ann Severson of Bellingham; her mother Rosemary Brown of White Rock, B.C.; 1 brother, Seeber Brown of Ashcroft, B.C. SEVERSON, Charles M., age 43 years, of Seattle, passed away in a Seattle hospital Sunday, Feb. 15, (1953) following a short illness. Mr. Severson was a former resident of Bellingham and was employed by the Boeing Aircraft Co. He is survived by his wife, Hazel; one son Richard, of Tacoma; one daughter, Mrs. Omar Wortley, in California; one grandson; five brothers, George and Chester, both of Cashmere, Wash., Sigurd, in Chicago, Bert of Spokane, and Jarle, in Bellingham; three sisters, Mrs. J. M. Dollarhide and Mrs. C. A. VanderYacht, both of Seattle, and Mrs. G. E. Aggleston, of San Bernardino, Calif. A resident of this community for the past 50 years he attended Central Lutheran Church, was a member of Sons of Norway, BPO Elks Bellingham Lodge No. 194, Mission Lodge No. 158 F & AM, Cashmere, Wn., Carpenters and Jointers Union Local 2667 and had been employed by Brooks Lumber Co. Surviving wife, Selma; 2 sons, Chester John of Anchorage, Alaska and Douglas J. at home; 2 brothers, Bert Severson of Spokane, George Severson of Masonic Home, Zenith, Wash.; 3 sisters, Mrs. Stella VanderYacht, of Lynden, Mrs. Blanche Eggleston, Bellingham and Mrs. Fern Dollarhide of Lebanon, Oregon; 3 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. SEVERSON, Jarle (Jerry) - Funeral services for Jarle (Jerry) Severson, 56, of 1159 Old Marine Dr., will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Jones Funeral Home. Mrs. Severson died Sunday (Sept. 7, 1975). A lifetime resident of Whatcom County, he was employed by Georgia-Pacific Corp. for the past 37 years. He was a U.S. Coast Guard world War II veteran, a member of Sons of Norway and the Association of Western Pulp and Paper Workers, Local 194. He is survived by the widow, Elaine; two daughters, Dianne Kirsch of Bellingham and Darlene I. Oostra of Ferndale; six grandchildren; three brothers, George of Zenith, Bert of Spokane and Chet of Bellingham; and three sisters, Fern Dollarhide of Myrtle Point, Ore., Stella VanderYacht of Lynden and Blanche Eggleston of Bellingham. The Rev. Bob Williams will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Greenacres Memorial Park.

SEVERSON, Johanna O., age 72, of 308 W. Champion, passed away Saturday, June 7, (1969). A 32-year resident of Bellingham, Mrs. Severson was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. She is survived by two sons, Selmer of Ferndale and Floyd of Seattle; two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Rasmussen of Tenino and Mrs. Vernelle Rauch of Bellingham; 15 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Adolph and Karl Nohr, both of Mission, B.C.; Louie Nohr of Nanaimo, B.C.; Fritz in Nebraska and Undahl Nohr in Norway; one sister, Miss Dagny Nohr of Vancouver, B.C. SEVERSON, John, age 71, of 2602 1/2 Utter Street, passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, June 13, (1951) following a short illness. Mr. Severson had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 25 years and was a retired wheat farmer. Survivors include six sons, Jarle I., Bellingham; George and Chester, of Cashmere, Wash.; Charles, of Seattle, Sigurd, of Chicago, and Bert, of Spokane; three daughters, Mrs. J. M. Dollarhide and Mrs. G. E. Eggleston, both of Seattle; Mrs. Charles VanderYacht, of Winthrop, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; two sisters in Norway; one niece, Mrs. Archie Crabtree of Lynden, and one brother-in-law, Andrew Fedge, of Anchorage, Alaska. Services will be conducted within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home Saturday, June 16, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dollarhide, pastor of the Assembly of God Church in Kelso officiating. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery.

SEVERSON, John George, 70 died at the zenith Masonic Home in Zenith, Washington March 29, (1982). Severson was a Past Master of the Mission Lodge No. 158, F&A.M., Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star, and Past President of the Lynden Eagles. He is survived by one son, Dr. John Severson, one daughter Shirley Finch, seven grandchildren, three sisters, Fern Dollarhide of Salem, Oregon, Blanche Eggleston, of Bellingham and Stella DeBruyn of Lynden, one brother Bert Severson of Spokane, and a cousin Mrs. Archie Crabtree of Ferndale. Services were held at Parkers Memorial Chapel in Burien, Washington by the Masonic Service Bureau April 1.

SEVERSON, Mistie Lenae - A memorial service for Mistie Lenae Roggow Severson of Bellingham will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Birchwood Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Tim Lann officiating. Mrs. Severson died at her home Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999. She was 37. She was born Nov. 18, 1961, to Dorothy Carter and the late Francis Roggow in Burke, S.D. In 1983, she married Craig Severson and lived in Show Low, Ariz. She studied environmental science and enjoyed animals, reading and promoting environmental issues. Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Jim Carter of Rock Springs, Wyo.; sisters Marlene Brooks of Alpine, Utah, and Michelle Anderson of Rock Springs; grandmother Antonia Dappen of Gregory, S.D.; and nieces and nephews. SEXTON, Jonathan Eugene - Funeral services for Jonathan Eugene Sexton, 1 year old, 1203 W. Smith Road, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Jones Funeral Home, with the Rev. Arnold White officiating. SEWARD, Charles William, aged 67 years, of 2020 Pacific St. Bellingham passed away Friday, Feb. 13, (1959) at a local hospital. Mr. Seward had been a resident of this county for the past thirty years and was a veteran of World War I. Surviving relatives include: his wife, Marian, three daughters, Mrs. Wilma Walsh of Edmonds, Mrs. Margie Belmonte of Seattle and Mrs. Mary Ann Lee of Bellingham; two sons; William Charles of Victoria, B.C. and Charles William Jr., of Bellingham, six grandchildren and numerous other relatives. SEWARD, Evert E., 63, of Bellingham died Friday, (Aug. 3, 1990) in Bellingham. He was born on Feb. 15, 1927, in Richie, Mo. Survivors include a son, Larry Seward of Silverdale. SEWELL, Walter R., age 79, 3515 Puget, passed away in a local hospital Sunday, July 10, (1966). Mr. Sewell had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 48 years and was a retired timekeeper for the PSP&T. He leaves to survive 1 daughter, Mrs. Bobbie Moncrief, of Seattle, and 8 grandchildren. SEWRIGHT, Terry - A memorial service for former Blaine resident Terry Sewright will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Blaine United Church of Christ. The Rev. Donald Walter will officiate. Mr. Sewright died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1993, in San Jose, Calif. He was 44. He was born Sept. 5, 1949, in Ontario, Ore. In 1964, the family moved from Neah Bay to Blaine, where Mr. Sewright graduated from Blaine High School in 1967. He attended Washington State University before moving to the San Francisco area, where he worked for several shipping companies. For the past eight years, he was a manager and computer programmer for Dole Pineapple-Castle and Cook Corp. in San Jose. Survivors include his mother, Josephine Sewright of Blaine; sisters Carol Sewright of Bellingham and Linda Johnson of Seattle; and brother Denny Sewright of Bellingham.

SEXTON, Rick Ivan - Funeral services for "Rick" Ivan Sexton, 32, 1203 W. Smith Road, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Jones Funeral Home. The Rev. SEYMOUR, Betty, 68, of 2400 Layfayette St. died Monday (Jan. 7, 1990) at St. Joseph's Hospital. Mrs. Seymour was born Dec. 1, 1921, in Wisconsin. She moved to Bellingham in 1986 from California, where she was a realtor. Mrs. Seymour was a member of the Catholic church. Survivors include three sons, Stephen of Bellingham, Michael of New Orleans, La., and James of Fort Worth, Texas; two daughters, Mary Kay Bailey and Kathleen Mouser of Bellingham; two sisters, Claudine Mandis of Ventura, Calif. and Theo Rimmile of Port Townsend; and 11 grandchildren. SHACKELFORD, Della I., age 57, Blaine passed away at home Sunday, March 29, (1964) following an extended illness. SHADBOLT, Jonathan Bartley - A graveside service for Jonathan Bartley Shadbolt, infant son of Bart and Melisa Shadbolt, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Lynden Cemetery with the Rev. SHADBOLT, Norma Joe - Visitation hours for Norma Joe Shadbolt, 50, 1273 Vista Circle, Lynden, will continue to 9 p.m. today at Gillies Funeral Home. Burial will be in Saxon Cemetery at 10 a.m. Friday. A memorial service will be conducted immediately afterward at the Nooksack Valley Reformed Church, with the Rev. Steve Smallegan officiating. Mrs. Shadbolt died Tuesday (Nov. 4, 1986) at her home. She was born May 18, 1936, in Oklahoma City, Okla., and was an Everson-area resident for 39 years. A member of the Nooksack Valley Reformed Church, Mrs. Shadbolt was a retired employee of the Bellingham office of the State Department of Social and Health Services. SHADBOLT, Roland, infant son of Bart and Melissa Shadbolt of 918 Front St., Lynden, passed away shortly after birth in Swedish Hospital in Seattle on Friday, July 8, 1988. He is also survived by grandparents Joyce Budde of Lynden, Jack Shadbolt of Everson and Eugene Budde of Ferndale; great-grandparents Gene and Millie Wilson of Deming and Virginia Shadbolt of Everett; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. SHADD, Jonathan V., age 23 of 2731 Walnut Street, Bellingham, passed away Sunday, July 20, 1980. A graduate of Middlebury College, he was employed by Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Northwest Washington as a program director and had recently completed one year's service as a VISTA Volunteer. He is survived by his parents, Robert and Karene Shadd of Barrington, R.I.; and his two sisters, Deborah Shadd of New York, N.Y., and Catherine Shadd of Provence, R.I. SHADE, Edith Margarete, former long time resident of Bellingham, died unexpectedly in Seattle Saturday, November 15, (1975) at the Kenney Presbyterian Home where she resided. At her request there will be no services. Mrs. Shade was born in Portland, Oregon. Her husband, John, passed away in 1967. Surviving are two daughter, Mrs. Dorothy L. Watson of Bellingham and Mrs. Audrey J. Crowley, Seattle, 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

SHADLE, Lloyd D., age 55, a resident of 905 Warren St., Mt. Vernon, passed away in Seattle, Tues., Oct. 18, (1977). He was born in Bellingham, educated in Blanchard and Edison and in 1948 moved to Mt. Vernon where he had lived since. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII & the Korean conflict. Mr. Shadle was employed by the Jack Thomas Construction Co. of Mt. Vernon. He married Marge Gale in Everett, Feb. 11, 1939. He was a member of the Carpenters Union, Laborers Union and the Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge of Mt. Vernon. Survivors: his wife, Marge in Mt. Vernon; his mother, Reba Shadle of Mt. Vernon; 1 daughters, Mrs. Duane (Nancy) Torneden of Florida; 1 son, Daniel L. Shadle of Seattle; 2 sisters, Mrs. Margaret Morehead of Blanchard and Mrs. Constance Barnes of Arizona; 3 brother, Paul of Bow, Leroy of Bayview and Vernon of Blanchard; his mother-in-law, Nellie Gale of Mt. Vernon; 2 granddaughters, 1 grandson, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in the Kern Funeral Chapel in Mt. Vernon at 1 p.m. Sat., Oct. 22 with entombment to follow in the Hawthorne Lawn Mausoleum, Mt. Vernon. Mr. Shadle will lie in state until noon Saturday for those wishing to pay their last respects.

SHADLE, Paul C. - Graveside services for retired farmer Paul C. Shadle, 81, of Bow, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Bow Cemetery, with the Rev. Lawrence Guderian of Bellingham officiating. Mr. Shadle died Thursday, (June 9, 1988) at United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley. He was born Jan. 24, 1907, in Bellingham. He married Ruth Houser June 20, 1946, in bow. She died in 1978. In addition to farming, Mr. Shadle also had served as sexton of the Bow Cemetery. Survivors include his daughter, Myrna Obermueller of Blanchard; his son, Gene of Anchorage, Alaska; his stepson, Gordon Shadle of Kansas; his sister, Connie Barnes of Mesa, Ariz.; two brothers, Vernon of Blanchard and LeRoy of Bay View; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. SHAEFFER, Bonnie Gaye, age 9 months, beloved daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Shaeffer, 2729 Sunset Drive, passed away at a local hospital, Saturday, February 10, (1944) following a brief illness. Bonnie Gaye leaves to survive, beside her parents, one little brother, Larry, at home; one grandmother, Mrs. Bertha Johnson, Everson, Wash., and one grandfather, Mr. George Shaeffer, of Ferndale, Wash.; also numerous other relatives. SHAEFFER, Larry Henry of Aloha, OR, died of cancer Dec. 18, 2005. He was 64. Born Jan. 20, 1941, he grew up in Bellingham and lived in the Aloha area for the last 30 years. He served three years in the Army Reserves and worked for Car Quest Auto Parts. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian and Henry Shaeffer. Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Cheryl, son Mike Shaeffer, daughter Cathy Shaeffer, stepsons Mark Lundy and Rob Lundy and five grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at American Legion Aloha Post 104.

SHAEFFER, Lillian Mae age 91 passed away Feb. 9, 2005 in Bellingham. She was born Aug. 15, 1913 in Everson to J. O. and Bertha (Pearson) Johnson. In 1936 she married Henry Shaeffer who preceded her in death in 1972. A graduate of Mt. Baker High School and Bellingham Business College, Lillian worked as a stenographer for the Whatcom County Clerk. She was a member of the Elks Club, Singles Club, and enjoyed traveling and reading. Lillian is survived by her son Larry and wife Cheryl of OR, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Sat. Feb. 12, 2005, 11:00 a.m. at Westford Funeral Home Chapel.

SHAFER, Ronald Palmer - Funeral services were held Monday morning in Moles Funeral Chapel for Ronald Palmer Shafer, 32, of 7126 Dahlberg Rd., Ferndale. He died Thursday (Sept. 5, 1974) in the Veterans Hospital in Seattle following an extended illness. A lifetime resident of the Ferndale community, he had served in the Air Force in Vietnam and was a member of Disabled American Veterans and Laborers Local 276. Survivors include his wife, Helen; two sons, Jimmy and Michael; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Palmer Shafer of Ferndale; sister, Sharon Pierce of Mountlake Terrace, brother, Stephen of Hudson, Wisconsin; step-brother, George Hong of Birch Bay. Rev. Peter Duggan officiated at the service. Burial with military honors followed at Greenacres Memorial Park.

SHAFER, Vern Carlos - Former Sedro-Woolley clergyman the Rev. Vern Carlos Shafer, 81, died Saturday, March 28, 1992, at his home in Mount Vernon. He was born Nov. 11, 1910, in Abilene, Kan., to Louis and Clytie Shafer. He graduated from high school in 1929 in Abilene. He attended Kansas Wesleyen, The College of Emporia, and the McCormack Theological Seminary. In 1939 he married Angelyn Kuetensky in Freemont, Neb. She survives him at the family home. Graduating in 1940 from Omaha Theological Seminary in Nebraska, he was ordained in the Presbyterian faith on My 5, 1940. Reverend Shafer's first full pastorate was in First Presbyterian Church in Cherryville, Kan. In 1942 he was called to the Monroe Park Presbyterian Church in Spokane and also served as minister for the Spokane Tribe Presbyterian Church in Wellpinit, Wash. In 1944 he came to Sedro-Woolley where he was pastor of First Presbyterian Church until 1964. During that time he also served the acme Presbyterian Church and was a chaplain at Northern State Hospital from 1945 through 1960. When the Sedro-Woolley church closed, he worked for Rothenbuhler Engineering and the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, retiring in 1971. He had served on the Sedro-Woolley City Council. He was a member of the Sedro-Woolley Masonic Lodge, the Order of Eastern Star, and the Odd Fellows Lodge. He also belonged to the Sedro-Woolley Rotary Club, the Skagit Amateur Radio Club, and the Civil Air Patrol. Other survivors include his son Vern Shafer of Plano, Texas; his daughters Elizabeth Martindale and Carla Shafer, both of Bellingham; his brother Elwood Shafer of Abilene, Kan.; and his sister Clytie Shaffer (sic) of Placentia, Calif.; and five grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Lemley Chapel 1008 Third St., Sedro-Woolley. The Rev. Paul C. Jensen of Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church will officiate. Masonic rite will be by F&AM Lodge 93. Burial will follow in Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lemley Chapel of Sedro-Woolley.

SHAFFER, Harry A. - Services for Harry A. "Fuzz" Shaffer, 82, a former employee with General Electric and the Mill Creek School District in Erie, Pa., will be 11 a.m. (PDT) Monday at Burton Funeral Home in Erie, with the Rev. Richard Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Laurel Hills Cemetery in Erie. Mr. Shaffer, of 5374 Niemeyer Road, Erie, died Thursday in Hamot Medical Center in Erie after an extended illness. He was born Oct. 28, 1906, in Mill Hall, Pa., son of the late William and Sadie Bierly Shaffer. He was a member of Wayne Park Baptist Church and Siebenbuerger Club, and was active with Meals on Wheels. He was employed at General Electric Co. and worked for the Mill Creek School District for 15 years, retiring in 1979. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; a daughter, LaVere Shaffer of Bellingham; and numerous nieces and nephews.

SHAFFNER, Phil, age 75, of Blaine, passed away at his home Thursday, July 12, (1951) following a lingering illness. Mr. Shaffner had been a resident of the Blaine community for the past 60 years. SHAGREN, Elizabeth, age 79 of 589 E. Badger Road, passed away in a local rest home Saturday, Aug. 13, (1966). A resident of Whatcom County since 1899 she was the widow of the late Henry Shagren. She was a member of the Methodist Church and a life member of Lynden Chapter No. 12, O.E.S. Surviving are 3 sons, William and Henry both of Lynden, Roland of Bellingham, a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Williams of Victoria and a brother, Peter Bonsen of Lynden, also 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Lynden Methodist Church, Monday, Aug. 15 at 2 p.m., Rev. Marvin Jordan officiating. Burial followed in the Lynden Cemetery under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home.

SHAGREN, Henry, age 79 of Lynden, Rt. 3 passed away at his home Wednesday, June 27, (1956). Mr. Shagren was a lifetime resident of the Lynden District. He was a member of the Whatcom Co. Dairymens Association, he served on the Board of Directors of the Peoples State Bank, a member of the Masonic Lodge, he was County Commissioner for severa years and he served on the Lynden School Board for 11 years. Surviving relatives include his wife Elizabeth; one daughter Margaret of Bellingham; three sons Roland of Bellingham, William and Henry Jr. of Lynden, Rt. 3; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; one sister Mrs. Rickie Schelin of Bellingham; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at the Lynden Methodist Church Monday, July 2 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Clarence Forsberg of the Garden St. Methodist Church in Bellingham and Rev. SHAGREN, Mae S., 74, 516 16th St., died Sunday (Oct. 18, 1981) in a local hospital. Born Nov. 10, 1906 [sic], she had been a lifetime Whatcom County resident. She was a member of Garden Street Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star. She was a retired pharmacy clerk. She and her husband, Roland were married Oct. 19, 1928, in Portland, Ore. She is survived by her husband, a son, a daughter, 10 grandchildren, a great-grandchild, four brothers, three sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and two sisters. Graveside services were held today at Woodlawn Cemetery, the Rev. Edgar L. Starr officiating. Cremation and other arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home.

SHAGREN, Roland H. "Sonny" Sr. - Graveside services for Roland H. Shagren 76, of 516 16th St., Bellingham, were held Tuesday, June 1, at 11 am. at Woodlawn Cemetery with Rev. Edgar L. Starr officiating. Mr. Shagren passed away Thursday, May 27, (1982). He is survived by one son, Roland and wife Donna Shagren of Bellingham; one daughter, Margaret Ann and husband Peter Elich of Bellingham; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, William and wife Nella Shagren, and Henry and wife Eleanor Shagren; one sister Margaret and husband Everett Williams, all of Lynden; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Mae. Mr. Shagren was a lifetime Whatcom County resident, a member of the Garden St. Methodist Church of Bellingham, Elks Lodge #36, and the F&AM. Mr. Shagren retired as a Washington State Patrolman after 29 years, and following retirement was a Bellingham School District bus driver for five years.

He married Donna Jean Howell on Oct. 7, 1966, in Oak Harbor. Mr. Shagren worked for Mobil Oil Corp. for 39 years, retiring in 1994. SHAGREN, William A. - Funeral services for Mr. William A. Shagren, age 72, a lifetime Lynden resident, were conducted on Monday February 14, at 11 a.m. in the Faith Reformed Church with Rev. Dick Vriesman officiating. Graveside services preceded at 10:15 a.m. in Lynden Cemetery. Mr. Shagren, of 575 East Badger Road, Lynden, died in a Bellingham hospital on Thursday, February 10, (1983). He had farmed for many years in the Lynden area prior to being employed as a bus driver and custodian for the Lynden School District for close to 20 years. He was a member of the Faith Reformed Church and had been active in the Lynden Senior Activity Center. He was one of the founders of the Lynden Annual Plowing Match and won the competition in 1943 and 1944. On October 20, 1939, he was married to Nella Verbrugge in Lynden. He is survived by his wife Nella; a son, William, Jr. and his wife Lois of Lynden; three daughters, Mrs. Jan and husband Rev. Ron VanderWerff of Friesland, Wisconsin, Mrs. Kathy and husband Dick McGrath, Jr. of Woodinville, and Mrs. Adi and husband Rod Blume of Mt. Lake Terrace; ten grandchildren; a brother, Henry Shagren and wife Eleanor of Lynden; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded by a sister, Margaret Williams, and brother, Roland. Funeral services were under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden.

SHAHAN, Edwin Thomas, age 54, who resided at 1251 Nevada St., passed away in a local hospital on Tuesday, March 20 (1962) following an extended illness. Mr. Shahan had recently moved to Bellingham and had resided his entire lifetime in Elma, Wash. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Carpenters Union Local 1544. He leaves to survive his wife, Elizabeth Mary of the family home, his son, Joseph of Bellingham, his daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Klaich of Fairbanks, Alaska, 4 sisters, Mrs. Jessie Foster of New Jersey, Mrs. Agnes Jensen of Tacoma, Mrs. Joey Boling and Mrs. Annie Fredrick, both of Elma, also 4 granddaughters. The remains rest at Bingham & Jerns Funeral Home and will be forwarded to Elma, Wash., where funeral services will be held.

SHAHAN, Joseph B., age 48 of Homer City, R.D. 3, died Sun. Nov. 25, 1979 at San Antonio, Texas. A son of Edward & Elizabeth Shahan, he was born May 2, 1931 at Elma, Wash. SHAIN, Florence D., 409 York St., Bellingham, passed away Feb. 7, 1990 at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was born in Vancouver, B.C. June 1, 1911 and came to the United States with her parents as a very young child. She lived most of her life in Seattle, moving to Bellingham in 1980. Mrs. Shain and her late husband Dave owned & operated several poultry markets in Seattle. She was past President of the Sisterhood of Congregation Herzel-ner talnud, Seattle, Beth Israel Synagogue, Bellingham; Hadassah and City of Hope. Mrs. Shain is survived by her daughter Bonnie & husband Alan Stone; 3 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild. Service will be held Fri. Feb. 9, at Bikur Cholum Cemetery, Seattle at 12:30 p.m. Under the direction of Jerns LeVeck Funeral Chapel & Crematorium.

SHANGLE, Charles Paine, 103, died January 7, 1992 in Everett, WA. Mr. Shangle was born February 11. 1888 in Richill, Missouri. He was a veteran educator in the Ste of Washington having served the school districts of Wapato, Sedro-Woolley and Bellingham as Superintendent and was Past President of the W.E.A. He graduated from the University of Oregon and received his master's degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Everett, a life member of Bellingham Bay Lodge No. 44 F&AM and an 81 year member of the Masons, a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies in Everett. He was a 61 year member of Rotary International, most recently belonging to the North Snohomish County Club. He leaves two daughters, Barbara Morris of Everett, and Miriam Hill of Roseburg, Oregon; 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. His wife Claudia and a son Paine Jr. preceded him in death. He was admired and respected by those whose lives he touched and will be deeply missed by his family. Funeral services will be Tuesday January 14, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Purdy & Walters with Cassidy Funeral Home. Private family entombment will be in the Evergreen Mausoleum.

SHANK, Jennie, age 85 years, a pioneer of Lynden's early days, passed away (Aug. 4, 1945) in Seattle after a long illness. Surviving relatives are one brother, Ira Robinson, of Anacortes; one sister, Mrs. Emma Daniels, of Yakima, and other relatives. Funeral services were conducted from the Knapp and Knapp Funeral Home in Lynden, Tuesday, August 7, at 2 p.m. Interment in the Lynden Cemetery.

SHANLEY, Minnie, age 85, of 615 Forest st., passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, January 7, (1959). Mrs. Shanley had resided in this community for the past 59 years and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. SHANLY, Walter Gregg, age 88, passed away at the family home, 615 N. Forest Street, Thursday, February 17, (1949). Mr. Shanly had resided in this community for the past 58 years and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Surviving is his widow, Mrs. Minnie Shanly, at home, and one brother, James, of Auburn, California. SHANNIAK, Paul Steve, 83, died Monday (Aug. 20, 1990) at the Mount Baker Care Center. No services are scheduled. burial will be at Maple Leaf Cemetery in Oak Harbor. Mr. Shanniak, of 5280 Northwest Ave., was born Mar. 1, 1907, in the Ukraine. He became a United States citizen in 1927. His wife of 35 years, Mary Ruffo Shanniak, preceded him in death. He was a chemical engineer for Monsanto Co. and liked fishing and handiwork in his time off. Survivors include his son, Richard Shanniak of Oak Harbor; grandson Rob Shanniak of Colton, Ore.; and great-grandsons Brett and Brian Shanniak of Colton, Ore. SHANNON, Annine, age 87 of Ferndale, passed away Saturday, October 5, (1963) in a local rest home following an extended illness. Mrs. Shannon had been a resident of Neptune Beach and Bellingham for many years. She is survived by 4 sisters: Misses Louise, Florence, Mary, and Esther Stewart all of Vancouver, B.C.; also, numerous nieces and nephews in Vancouver. SHANNON, Bert, age 73, of 1135 Ellis Street, passed away at the family home Monday, July 21, (1952). Mr. Shannon was retired and had formerly been employed by the Kienast Cigar Store, and had resided here for the past 50 years. He was a life member of Bellingham Lodge No. 194, B.P.O. Elks, and leaves to survive his wife, Mrs. Florence Shannon, at home, one sister, Mrs. May Knight, of Nashva, Iowa; two brothers, Russ Shannon, of Moline, Illinois, and Plez Shannon, of Scio, Oregon; one step-son, Eldon Price, of this city; one step-granddaughter, Mrs. Mary Norma Lish, of this city and one step-great-grandson, Ray Lish, of this city. SHANNON, Hazel Berg, 74, of Lynden died May 21, 1991 in a Bellingham hospital. She was born June 8, 1916, in Everett. She made her home in Edmonds from 1971 until October 1989, when she moved to Lynden to make her home. She was a retired office worker for Pacific Northwest Bell in Seattle, retiring in 1981. Mrs. Shannon was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Everett. She leaves her cousins, Agnes Shannon of Lynden, and Martha Mauck of Irvine, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews, including Pauline Van Weerdhuizen of Everson. Funeral services were held Friday at Evergreen Funeral Home Chapel in Everett, with Pastor Robert Winkel and Pastor Wesley Howell officiating. Burial followed at Evergreen Cemetery. SHANNON, John L. - Family memorial services were conducted in the First Reformed Church for Mr. John L. Shannon, age 66, who died on Monday, November 24, (1980). Mr. Shannon, of 1832 Central Road, Everson, was born in Lansing, Michigan and had been a Whatcom County resident since August of this year when he moved with his wife Betty from Birmingham, Michigan; they were married in March of 1975. He was a retired Sales Engineer for McGraw-Edison Company of Detroit, Michigan where he had been employed for twenty-three years. He was also a member of the Presbyterian Brick Church of Rochester, New York. He is survived by his wife, Betty; a son, John in Texas; two daughters; Barbara Rickey and Mary Lou Shannon both of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; three step-daughters, Mrs. Martha Snyder and Mrs. Judy Elliott of Everson and Mrs. Cynthia Whalen of Tempe, Arizona; eight grandchildren and a brother, Richard in Rochester, New York. Cremation was in Greenacres.

SHANNON, William, age 76, of Ferndale, passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, April 9, (1952) following a lingering illness. He had been a resident of the county for the past 25 years. Mr. Shannon had been a resident of Neptune Beach for nine years. He is survived by his wife, Annie; numerous nieces and nephews. SHANNON, William J. of Seattle passed away on October 11, 2003 at the farm where he grew up near Lynden. He was born in Seattle on July 3, 1929. He was retired from Seattle City Light. He graduated from Lynden High School in 1947 and attended WWCE (now WWU) and the University of Washington. He enjoyed family gatherings, reading and gardening. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, in Clearbrook Lutheran Church 9691 VanBuren Rd., Lynden. Funeral services of Dr. Evelyn Hawkins Sharninghouse, 85, will be conducted at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, at Northwest Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Bush officiating. SHARP, Edith A., age 91, formerly a Bellingham resident, passed away Mon., Feb. 23, (1976) in Sedro Woolley, Wa. She is survived by her husband, Jim of Sedro Woolley; 2 sons, Wayne and Jack Smith of Sedro Woolley. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on Thurs., Feb. 26 at Greenacres Memorial Park, under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro Woolley.

SHARP, Emma Magdalene - Funeral services for Emma Magdalene Rusmussen Sharp, age 78, 661 E. Pole Rd., Lynden, will be held on Friday, Jan. 9, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Gillies Funeral Home, with burial following at Lakeside Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Ten Mile Grange Hall. Mrs. Sharp passed away on Sunday, Jan. 4, 1987, in Seattle where she had been hospitalized since Dec. 23 for treatment of cancer and a heart condition.

Born Oct. 1, 1908, at Wadena, Minn., to Danish immigrants Peter J. and KJestina Rasmussen, she moved with the family in 1917 to a farm in the Nooksack-Everson area. She graduated with the Nooksack High School class of 1928. After receiving her teaching certificate from Bellingham Normal School, she taught eight-grade one-room schools at South Pass and Columbia Valley. On June 7, 1931, she married Glenn T. Sharp at Nooksack. After opening of Sharp Bros. Garage at Hinote's Corner, they bought the small dairy farm on East Pole Road in 1935 where she resided until her death. She had a simple, strong Christian faith and was active since 1942 in the ministry of Ten Mile Sunday School. She served almost continuously as secretary of Lynden Auxiliary of Fraternal Order of Eagles from its charter in 1952 until it disbanded in 1985. At various times she tutored children, was a Cub scout den mother, and took part in a program for handicapped/retarded children. She was named non-member Citizen of the Community in 1979 by Ten Mile Grange and became an active member thereafter.

She is survived by her husband, Glenn; two daughters, Elaine Strelow of Sitka, Alaska; and Merrilee and husband Robert Raplee of Lynden; two sons, Lore and wife Kris of Silverdale, and Richard and wife Cheryl of Belfair; two brothers, Henry Rasmussen and wife Rena of Bellingham, and August Rasmussen and wife Florence of Lynden; a sister-in-law, Nell Rasmussen of Seattle; and a brother-in-law, Royce Sharp and wife Velma of Lynden; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

SHARP, Foster B., age 102, of 700 32nd St., passed away Saturday, May 17, 1980. Mr. Sharp had been employed in Olka. by the Kingwood Oil Co. for 25 years and and worked at Bloedel Donovan Mill when he moved to Whatcom Co. where he had resided for 43 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church; he had served there as custodian for a period of 15 years. He is survived by his wife, Annie Mae, 3 sons, Rufus Brantly of San Jose, CA, James R. SHARP, Glenn Thomas, 86, of Lynden died Monday, June 13, 1994 at a Bellingham hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery on Pangborn Road. A reception is scheduled later. The first child of Ernest and Ellen (Swearengin) Sharp was born April 24, 1908 in rural Missouri, southeast of Springfield. The family moved west in 1923, settling first near Tillamook, Ore. and then near Everson. At Nooksack on June 7, 1931, he was married to Emma Rasmussen, a school teacher. At that time he was working for the Whatcom County Road Department. For several years he worked at the lime quarry. From 1933 to 1974, Glenn and his brother Royce Sharp operated Sharp Bros. Garage, a repair service and welding shop at Hinote's Corner at the intersection of Hannegan and East Pole Roads. In 1935 Glenn and Emma began a small farm on the Pole Road which he operated until his death. Emma died in 1987. Survivors include his four children, Elaine Strelow of Sitka, Alaska, Merrilee and husband Robert Raplee of Lynden, Lore Sharp and wife Kris of Silverdale, and Richard Sharp and wife Cheryl of Belfair; brother Royce Sharp and wife Velma of Lynden; brothers-in-law Henry Rasmussen and wife Rena of Bellingham and August Rasmussen and wife Florence of Lynden; sister-in-law Nell Rasmussen of Seattle; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

SHARP, James, age 93, who resided at 1208 Birchwood Ave., passed away suddenly Fri., Feb. 9, 1979. He had been a long time resident of B'ham & Whatcom Co. SHARP, James W. "Jim" 88, 421 16th St., died Friday, (Oct. 14, 1983). Sharp was born Nov. 25, 1894 in Ontario and had lived in Bellingham since 1910. He was a retired agent for Greyhound bus lines and had been a member of Whatcom Lodge #151 F&AM. Sharp is survived by his wife Genevieve and two sisters (Florence Griffith, city, Violet Baer, Palo Alton, CA). Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Bayview Cemetery, the Rev. Lawrence Guderian officiating. Ritualistic service will be given by officers of Whatcom Lodge #151 F&AM. Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home.

SHARP, Larry Lee, age 8, of 403 1/2 W. Holly Street, passed away Wednesday, July 16, (1947). Larry had resided in this community for the past eight months and leaves to survive his parents, Rev. and Mrs. Troy W. Sharp; one brother, Lanny Zaron, and three sisters, Myrna Lou, Gloria Ann and Sharon Arlene, all at home. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth. Services will be conducted from the Penticostal Upper Room by the Rev. Troy W. Sharp, pastor of that church, Friday, July 18, at 11 a.m. Final resting place, Woodlawn.

SHARP, Lynette - Funeral services will be conducted for Lynette, 2-month-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sharp of Bremerton, at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Jones Funeral Home by the Rev. E. Gordon Crider. Burial will be in Greenacres Memorial Park. The child died Sunday (April 10, 1958) in Bremerton. She was the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Bard and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Sharp, all of Bellingham. Mrs. Anna Scutvick of Lawrence is the great-grandmother.

SHARP, Troy William, 75, formerly of Whatcom County, died Dec. 28, 1991, in Prescott, Ariz., after a long illness. He was born in Muskogee, Okla., and received his education there. Mr. Sharpe was a World War II veteran. He was ordained by the Pentecostal Church of God and was a former president of the Pentecostal Young People's Association of Washington, Idaho and Montana. He was very active in the first church of Lummi Island, and baptized several local residents. His wife, Lena Vivian Sharp, has died. Survivors include his children, Myrna Louveau of Ferndale, Lanny Sharp of Phoenix, Ariz., Gloria Graves, Sharon Hahn, Aaron Sharp, Pam Veenstra, and Terry Sharp, all of Bellingham, and David Climer of Medpines, Calif.; his sisters, Floreta Smith of Marblemount, Marcella Smith of Oregon, Adela Oliger and Nancy Sharp, both of Springfield, Ark., Lucretia Edwards and Juanita Davis of Dos Palace, Calif., and Kathrine France of Los Angeles, Calif.; his brother, Gordon Sharp, of Springfield; and grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Burial will be in Phoenix.

SHARP, Virginia Ruth "Ginger" age 38 who resided at 7806 Birch Bay Drive, passed away, Nov. 22, 1979. She had been a resident of the Birch Bay, Blaine area for the past 6 years and leaves to survive, her husband George "Sparky", 3 sons, Dale & David & Darryl, all of the family residence, her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Edward Melton, 1 sister, Gwen Keiser, 1 brother, Richard, all of Calif. Funeral services will be held Mon., Nov. 26, 1979 at 1 p.m. in the New Life Fellowship Church, 810 E. Pole Rd. with Rev. Ronald Slater officiating, under the direction of Veroske, Jerns & LeVeck Funeral Home, followed by cremation.

SHARPE, Harry R., age 74, 2605 Eldridge Avenue, passed away in a local hospital Monday, September 30, (1963). Mr. Sharpe was a seventeen-year resident of Bellingham, and was a fisherman for Pacific American Fisheries before his retirement. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Mary Sharpe, at home; five sons, Harvey Sharpe, Squaw Harbor, Alaska; Richard Sharpe, Bremerton; Charles McCallum, City; Hubert McCallum, Edmonds; Don McCallum, Seattle; three daughters, Mrs. Betty King, Cordova, Alaska; Mrs. Pearl Hackman, Seattle; Mrs. Lila Grimes, city; twenty grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted Friday, October 4 at 1 p.m. Final resting place Bay View Cemetery.

SHARPE, Kathleen E., age 84 of Anacortes passed away in a local nursing home Mon., November 9, 1987. She was born in Cle Elum, WA on January 10, 1903 to the Rev. James & Lottie Ervine. Kathleen was a graduate of both the Anacortes High School & Bellingham Normal, teaching for 3 yrs. at the Rosario School. In 1925 she married Wallace Sharpe & they resided during their lifetime at Rosario Beach. She was an avid stamp collector, enjoyed doing needlework & was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was a founder, trustee & officer of the Skagit County Historical Society & a member of the Anacortes Womens Club. Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband in 1963 & is survived by a step-son, Lester Sharpe of Mt. Vernon; a brother, John Ervine of Anacortes; numerous nieces, nephews & great grandchildren. Services will be held at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, Anacortes, WA at 1:30 p.m. Fri., November 13, 1987 with interment at Fern Hill Cemetery. SHARPE, Mary M. - Funeral service for Mary M. Sharpe, 91, formerly of Bellingham will be held Monday October 16th, 2 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home. Mrs. Sharpe died Thursday October 12th, (1989) in Edmonds, Wa. She was born October 9th, 1898 on Andronica Island, Alaska & became a resident of Bellingham in 1946. Survivors include 3 sons Hubert G. McCallum of Sand Pt., Alaska, Don McCallum of King Cove, Alaska, Dick Sharpe of Lynnwood, Wa.; 1 daughter Betty King of Cordova, Alaska; 1 brother Bill Torgramsen of Sand Pt., Alaska; 2 sisters Laura A. Wilson of Anchorage, Alaska & Bertha Cronk of Edmonds, WA; numerous nieces & nephews; grand, great-grand, & great-great-grandchildren whom she loved very much. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Sharpe, in 1964. Also preceded by 2 daughters Pearl Hackman & Lila A. Grimes & 2 sons Charles F. McCallum & Harvey P. Sharpe. SHARPE, Ronald of Bellingham died Friday, March 21, 1997, of AIDS-related complications. He was 40. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Bellingham Covenant Church. Born Sept. 20, 1956, to Evora and Daniel Sharpe in Norfolk, Va., he moved to Bellingham in 1974. Mr. Sharpe flew for United Airlines for 19 years after graduating from Sehome High School and attending Western Washington University. He enjoyed flying, music, flowers and singing in the church choir. Survivors include sisters Bonita Nichols, Regina Sharpe and Rebina Sharpe, all of Norfolk, brother Danny Sharpe, also of Norfolk, and numerous nieces and nephews.

SHASGUS, Francis Joseph, age 83, of Ferndale, died Saturday, July 23, 1994 at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born November 13, 1910 in Inkerman, PA to Cecilia and Francis Shasgus. He grew up in Pennsylvania and moved to Brooklyn, N.Y. in 1928. Frank married Olga Latonik in 1936. He was a steam fitter until retirement. In 1993 he moved to Whatcom County with his daughter Ruth and her husband Darryl Ash and 1 grandson, Erik. He was a member of the Annunciation Roman Catholic Church in Brooklyn, N.Y. Preceded in death by his wife in 1982 and a son, Frank Shasgus in 1978. Survived by a daughter, Ruth and husband Darrell Ashe of Ferndale; a brother, Joseph Shasgus in Florida; and 3 grandchildren. Arrangements by Westford Funeral Home.

SHATTUCK, Benjamin Franklin, age 73 years, of East Sound, Orcas Island, passed away at a local hospital, Tuesday, October 14, (1947) following a lingering illness. Mr. Shattuck had lived his entire life on Orcas Island and was a retired blacksmith. Surviving relatives include, one sister, Mrs. Ada Hunt and one brother, Charles Shattuck, both of Seattle. The Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home is arranging funeral services at the Episcopal Church at East Sound, Orcas Island, Saturday, October 18, at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. O. D. Smith, officiating. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery near East Sound.

SHAUDNEY, Barbara, age 71, of 2920 Meridian, passed away Wed., Nov. 3, (1976). Mrs. Shaudney had resided in Bellingham for the past 50 years and leaves to survive, one son, Walter and one daughter, Mrs. Jennifer Jansen, both of this city; three grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Nov. 5 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home, interment Greenacres Memorial Park.

SHAUDNEY, Peter, age 76 of 2920 Meridian passed away Friday, April 12, (1974). He had been a resident of this community since 1926. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Barbara Shaudney; 1 son, Walter and 1 daughter, Mrs. Jennifer Jansen, all of Bellingham; 3 grandchildren. Funeral services Tuesday, April 16 at 1:30 p.m. within the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home. Interment Greenacres.

SHAVER, Lillie, age 65 years, passed away at a local hospital, Tuesday, February 3, (1948). Mrs. Shaver had resided here the past ten years and was a member of the Pentecostal Church. Surviving relatives are two daughters, Mrs. J. Gallagher, Route 2, Bellingham, and Mrs. R. L. Rucker, Fontana, Calif.; two sons, Frank Shaver, Bremerton, Wash., and Donald Shaver, Bellingham; fifteen grand and five great-grandchildren; also three brothers, William at LaHabra, Calif., Floyd, at Springfield, Mo., and Ed Barclay, Portland, Ore. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. J. H. Hamilton, Saturday, February 7, at 1:30 p.m. Final resting place, Woodlawn.
