QUADE, Henry F., 88, of 2520 Grant street, died at a local hospital Sunday (February 25, 1951). A resident of this community for the past six years, Mr. Quade was a retired Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul railroad engineer, having served that company for 50 years. He was a member of the Missoula, Mont., Lodge No. 58, F. & A. M. Funeral services will be conducted by Elder R. J. Winders, Tuesday, at 1 p.m., in the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth. The remains will be forwarded to Spokane for interment. Included among the survivors are the widow Barbara, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Carl Candler, of Tacoma; three sons, Harold, of Oakland, Calif., Lester, of Tacoma Park, Washington, D. C., and Walter, of Spokane; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

QUAM, Helen "Pazaski", age 75, of Everett passed away at her home, Sun., Dec. 25, 1994. She was born Feb. 15, 1919 in Deer Lodge, MT to Elfred and Della Place. Mrs. Quam has lived the last 10 years in Everett and prior to that she lived in Whatcom County. She leaves to survive 2 daughters, Roxi and her husband Roger Anthony of Mukilteo and Terri and her husband Miner English of Mountlake Terrace; sister Sally Reilly of Bellingham; brother, Verdun Place of Bellingham; 5 grandchildren; Lyndsi Stickles of Mill Creek; Bryce and Kyle Anthony of Mukilteo; Tracie Webb of Calif.; Melanie Rice of Shoreline; 3 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Graveside service will be held Fri., Dec. 30, 3 p.m. at Greenacres Memorial Park with Rev. Ralph Poulson officiating. QUEEN, John B., age 72 of Blaine, passed away October 27, 1997 in Blaine. Mr. Queen was born March 9, 1925 in Toledo, Ohio to Clarence W. and Rachel Hildreth Queen. Mr. Queen came to Whatcom County in 1971 from California, was a life member of the American Legion in Blaine and was an auto mechanic. He is survived by his wife Eileen of the family home; his son, Joseph and wife Magen Queen of Everett, WA; and daughter, Dorothy and her husband David Crandell of Enderby, B.C., Canada; and sister, Norma Stull of Harrison, MI; three grandson(s), Justin, Bradley and Nicholas Crandell. A Graveside Service will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, October 31, 1997, at Enterprise Cemetery with full military honors rendered by the Blaine American Legion Post #86. QUEEN, Margaret Curtis - A memorial service for Margaret Curtis Queen of Bellingham will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Hawthorne Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dennis LaMance officiating. Her ashes will be place in Hawthorne Memorial Park. Mrs. Queen died Monday, May 12, 1997, at a local nursing home. She was 90. Born July 29, 1906, to Roderick and Roberta McCrimmon in Abbotsford, B.C., she was raised and attended schools there. She married E. L. Curtis in 1930 in Bellingham; he died in 1949. She married Homer Queen on May 10, 1952, in Mount Vernon; he died in 1996. A registered nurse, Mrs. Queen attended school at St. Luke's Hospital in Bellingham. She lived on the Olympic Peninsula and in Concrete, Burlington and Warm Beach before moving to Bellingham in 1996. Mrs. Queen was a member of Viewcrest Assembly of God Church in Mount Vernon, Stanwood Assembly of God Church and St. Luke's Alumni. Survivors include daughter Roberta Strickland of Ferndale, three grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and other relatives.

QUESENBERRY, Edna L. - Visitation for Edna L. Quesenberry of Lynden will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Gillies Funeral Home. Mrs. Quesenberry died Saturday, July 11, 1998 at Birch Ben Adult Family Home in Lynden. She was 82. Born May 25, 1916 to John and Mary Saunders White in Pulaski, VA, she grew up and graduated from high school there. She married Frank Hawkins Aug. 20, 1932. He died in 1964. QUIGGLE, George E. of Bellingham passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2005. He was 83 years old. George was born on February 23, 1922 in Sibley, Iowa to George and Omah (Bullington) Quiggle. He married Cora Bergsma Chads in 1990. George worked for Jones Funeral Home in Bellingham for 25 years. He also owned Pacific Grocery in Bellingham and operated George's Resort on Pearrygin Lake in Winthrop. He was the Past Master of the Whatcom Lodge F & AM and a lifetime member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Bellingham. George was also active in the Nile Temple of the Shrine and was past president of the Northwest Shrine Club. He was a member of the American Legion's Albert J. Hamilton, Post #7, and was past president of the Winthrop Chamber of Commerce. He was a Naval Aviator during WWII, as a pilot and Instrument Flight Instructor. After retiring, George devoted time to visiting the elderly, sick and others in need. George loved to golf and listen to music, and he enjoyed working in the garden, especially tending to his roses. He liked baseball, and he loved to pick berries and take trips south in his RV. George will always be remembered for his strength of character and his unfailing sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his former wives, Lorna and Jane. George is survived by his wife, Cora; son, Roger Quiggle and wife Ann of Ferndale; 3 grandsons, David and wife Margarita; Jeff and wife Stephanie of Redmond, WA; Tim and wife Jenny; great-grandson Sage; and numerous other extended family members and friends. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in the Greenacres Moles Funeral Home Chapel.

QUIGLEY, Edith Mary, age 91 of Blaine, passed away November 29, 1996 at her home. Mrs. Quigley was born July 12, 1905 in Calvin, North Dakota to Elsie Henderson and Robert Mountain. She married Bernerd P. Quigley in 1927. In 1955 they moved to Blaine. He passed away in 1980. Mrs. Quigley was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her three sons, R. Neil Quigley of Denver, Colorado; Michael L. Quigley of Triangle, Virginia; and Patrick B. Quigley of Blaine, WA; her two daughters, Phyllis E. Stoa of Fargo, North Dakota and Patricia A. Baldwin of Blaine, WA; seventeen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. A Vigil Service will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 1996, at the Jerns McKinney Funeral Chapel. QUILLEN, Alvin C. "Al", 76, 5055 Karen St., Deming, died Wednesday (Nov. 25, 1981) in a local nursing home. He was born Jan. 30, 1905. He was a 50-year resident of Whatcom County and a member of Welcome Grange. He is survived by his wife, Lucy; a son; three grandchildren; a brother; two sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews. QUIMBY, Albert E., age 71, of 1717 C St., Lynden, died suddenly on Monday, July 2, (1984). Born Aug. 21, 1912, he came to Whatcom County in 1924. He married Laura Glass in Lynden Feb. 16, 1940. He was employed at Darigold in Lynden from 1941 to 1974. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of Laurel Community Baptist Church and Teamsters Local 231. Survived by his wife Laura; two sisters, Beatrice Quimby of Bellingham and Mary Alice Smith of Lynden; his father-in-law Albert Glass of Lynden; two brothers-in-law, Cliff & wife Pinky Glass of Lynden, Floyd & Mernie Glass of Bellingham; a sister-in-law Mrs. Geneieve Schneider of Everson; numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Laurel Community Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jim Blades officiating. The funeral will be preceded by a graveside service at 10 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery.

QUIMBY, Beatrice Scleda, age 91 of Bellingham, WA, passed away comfortably at home surrounded by love on June 1, 2002. She was born October 27, 1910 in Everett, WA, to Daniel and Bessie (McClure) Quimby. Beatrice graduated from Meridian High School in 1930. During the war she worked at St. Lukes Hospital. She worked at the Whatcom County Public Library 23 years before retiring. Beatrice was a member of the Laurel Community Baptist Church, a charter member of the Whatcom County Genealogical Society, a member of a collectors club and was a volunteer for the blind. She was a Bird Surveyor for Washington Dept. of Fish and Wildlife five consecutive years and had a special interest in reading, gardening, drawing and letter writing. She was part of a small circle of friends who met regularly for a birthday club since high school. Preceded in death by a nephew, Raymond Hansen in 2001. Survived by her nieces, Nancy and husband Jim Frese of Bellevue, Bessie and husband Tim Lintz of Bellingham nephews, Philip Hansen and wife Edith of Lynden, Rodney Hansen and wife Sheryl of Onalaska, Dan Mumford and wife Penny and Greg Mumford and wife Thelma both of Bellingham and a sister-in-law, Laura Quimby of Everson. Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2002 at Woodlawn Cemetery with a reception to follow at the Laurel Community Baptist Church.

QUIMBY, Philip M., age 86, passed away Thurs., Aug. 8, 2002, in Everett. He was born July 15, 1916, on Shaw Island, WA to Willard and Della (Hoffman) Quimby. He had been a machinist in Seattle for 10 years. After moving to Bellingham, Mr. Quimby became a Raleigh salesman for more than 30 years. He owned and operated a Christmas tree farm on the Kelly Road for many years. His hobbies included hiking, fishing, dancing, playing the accordion and parachuting. He owned his own plane. Mr. Quimby was a member of the Laurel Grange for many years and had served as Master. Survived by his wife, Florence Voller of Everett son, Dan Quimby & wife Carol of Bellingham daughter, Virginia Ironmonger of Auburn four grandchildren five great-grandchildren brother, Loren Quimby of Longview, WA and Al Quimby of Bellingham sisters, Della Krumdiak of Bellingham and Calla Garretson of Arizona. Mrs. Quinn died Thursday at St. Joseph Hospital Main Campus. She was born to Samuel and Hazel Southerden on June 15, 1921, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She had lived in Bellingham since age 10. She was a homemaker. She married James J. Quinn II in 1946 in Bellingham. He survives her. QUINN, Elsie Leadbetter Alff was born September 29, 1912, in Bellingham, WA, and passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 2, 2005, at a Bellingham hospital. Elsie was the child of Mary and Joseph Leadbetter and grew up on Cottonwood Island, now known as Sinclair Island. Elsie was married to Clarence T. Alff and had two sons, Laurence E. and James E. Alff. Elsie was widowed in 1947 and later married Theodore C. Quinn. She and Ted enjoyed a long and happy marriage until Ted's death in 2003. Elsie worked hard to raise her sons and throughout her life was well known in the Bellingham restaurant business as the owner-operator of Wag's and Elsie's, the Garden of Eaten, and the Twin Gables restaurants. Surviving Elsie are her sons, Laurence and James; her grandchildren, Theodore and Kathy; and numerous nieces and nephews. Elsie's family would like to thank the caregivers, Option Care, Dr. Sun, and the staff of St. Joseph Hospital for their compassionate services. QUINN, Esther Flickweert - Longtime Bellingham resident Esther Flickweert Quinn, 86, formerly of 2616 Kulshan St., died Wednesday (Jan. 6, 1988)in Bellingham. She was born April 24, 1901 in Lynden and worked at Elm Grocery Store and a pharmacy in Bellingham until retiring in 1962. At that time she married Maurice Quinn. The couple moved to Shelton, returning to Bellingham in 1979. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1979. She is survived by a niece, Dorothy Thomas of Menlo Park, Calif.; several grandnieces and grandnephews; seven cousins; and close friend Celia LaBell. QUINN, James J., II, age 84, of 4073 Hoff Rd., Bellingham, passed away at home Thurs., July 14, 1994. He was born Feb. 15, 1910 in Bellingham to James and Eleanor (McCann) Quinn and has been a lifetime county resident. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the South Pacific and was decorated and received the Purple Heart. He married Ellenora Southerden in 1946 in Bellingham and she preceded him in death on June 20, 1991. Mr. Quinn was a member of the Laborer's Union Local #276 in Bellingham and worked in the construction industry for 40 years until his retirement in 1972. He was an avid gardener and fisherman. He is survived by 2 sons; Kenneth Quinn and wife Beverly and Wayne Quinn, 4 daughters: Gail Dawson, Jonnie Pomeroy and husband Jerry, Nellie Johnson and husband Jerry, Elizabeth Schoppert and husband Michael all of Bellingham; 2 sisters: Dorothy Birchall and husband William and Violet Snyder, brother, Ted Quinn and wife Elsie all of Bellingham; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. At Mr. Quinn's request, there will be no service. Interment at Greenacres Memorial Park.

QUINN, Laurence D. - Mr. Laurence "Bud" D., of Ferndale, passed away Monday, June 17, 2002 in Bellingham. He was 86. Born June 30, 1915 in Snohomish, WA, son of Maurice & Eola Quinn. He grew up in Shelton, WA, and worked for the Post Office as a Rural Carrier. From 1941 to 1945, he served in the Navy during the invasions at Attu, Kiska, Normandy, Okinawa, and South France. Following his return, he married Theresa Lee of Seattle in 1946. They then moved to Seattle where he resumed his career with the local Post Office and then moved on to Bellingham in 1971. Theresa preceded him in death March of 1996.

QUINN, Rollie E., age 57 years, of Everson Rt. 1, passed away at his home Monday, March 30, (1953) following a short illness. He had been a resident of that district for the past eight years and operated the Quinn Corner Grocery and Service Station. Mr. Quinn was a veteran of World War I. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude; two daughters, Mrs. James Brady, of Tacoma; and Donna, at home; three sons, Brice of Burlington, Dale of Los Angeles, and Thomas of Rt. 1, Everson, and seven grandchildren. The remains rest at the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. Funeral announcements will be made later.

QUINN, Theodore C., age 91, a lifetime Bellingham resident passed away, Saturday, December 20, 2003 in Bellingham. He was born, March 24, 1912, in Bellingham, WA to James and Eleanor (McCann) Quinn. He married Elsie Leadbetter in Bellingham. Mr. Quinn served in the U.S. Army during WWII, was a life member of the V.F.W. Wm. Matthews #1585. He also worked and retired from Brooks Lumber and was an avid sports fisherman. He is survived by: his wife Elsie Quinn of Bellingham, two step-sons, Larry and Jim Alff of Bellingham two step-grandchildren Ted and Kathy & numerous nieces & nephews. QUINTRALL, Dusty Blu - A memorial service for Dusty Blu Quintrall of Ferndale will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 7053 Enterprise Road, Ferndale. Dusty died in a snowboarding accident on Mount Baker Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998. He was 17. He was born July 31, 1980, to Gary and Babe Quintrall in Bellingham. A home-schooled student, he worked at Towner Press in Bellingham and enjoyed snowboarding, playing basketball, and raising exotic birds. QUIST, James M., age 56 passed away December 24, 2004, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born May 17, 1948 in Bellingham, WA to Erma and Jack Quist. He graduated from Blaine High School in 1968 and was a lifetime resident of Blaine. Jim attended Skagit Valley College and began working for U.S. Customs in 1970. He retired in 2001 after 31 years of service. Jim loved his family, especially his wife and son. He also loved a good joke, sci-fi and his pets. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Barbara of Blaine; son, Christopher of Blaine; parents Erma and Jack Quist of Blaine; sister, Lonna-Kay and husband Garry Armstrong of Surrey, B.C.; niece, Elizabeth Armstrong and Bob Dupas and their daughters, Jessica and Rebecca of Hope, B.C.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carole and Frank Boyko of Puyallup; niece, Heather Boyko of Japan; niece and husband, Jennifer and Kevin Thompson of Kent; brother-in-law, Bruce Bock of Kent and many other extended family and special friends. There will be a Celebration of Life on Thursday, December 30, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at Custer United Methodist Church, 2996 Main St., Custer, WA with Rev. Bobbi Virta officiating. A private family burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery. Arrangements by Jerns McKinney Funeral Chapel 464 8th St., Blaine, WA.
