LATHAM, Clarence H. "Clary", a local service station operator for 19 years, died Wednesday (July 8, 1987) after a lingering illness. Latham, 68, 120 North Shore Drive, was born Nov. 8, 1918 in Lyman and graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School. He joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 1939, serving in World War II. That service included three years in the South Pacific. Mr. Latham also served 17 years in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He owned and operated Mobil and Phillips service stations locally for 19 years, and was co-owner of Pyramid Painting and Construction Co. and Bakerview Construction Inc. He worked as a supervisor for the Bellingham Parkade for four years before retiring in February 1984. He later was a co-owner of O. J. Collectibles and was an associate of Bergsma Collectibles. He was a member of Bellingham Elks Lodge No. 194, Fairhaven Lodge No. 73, and First Christian Church and was active in community service work. Survivors include his wife Orma, of the family home; a daughter, Jeri Failor of Bellingham; two brothers, Lloyd Latham of Anaheim, Calif., and Wayne Latham of Seattle; three sisters, Flossie Hobson of Bow, Mearle Hunter of Sunnymeade, Calif., and Bertha Kiser of Olympia; and one grandson.

LATHAM, Conrad C., age 50, a Sedro Woolley resident, died unexpectedly Wednesday in United General Hospital. He was born in Tennessee in 1927, served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle of the family home; 3 sons, Frank, Richard, & Russell, all of Sedro Woolley; his mother, Vera Latham, Tennessee; 2 sisters, Jean & Jane Brenzeale, Tennessee; a brother, Orvel, Georgia; & a step-daughters, Jean McFalls, Illinois; & 2 grandchildren. Services Fri. March 10, Lemley Chapel Sedro Woolley, 1 p.m. interment Hamilton Cemetery.
LATHAM, Orma J. - A memorial service for Orma J. (Hammer) Latham of Bellingham will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Stanley Jacobsen officiating. Private burial will be in Greenacres Memorial Park near Ferndale. Mrs. Latham died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, in Bellingham. She was 77. Born May 30, 1923, to Raymond and Blanche (Adams) Hammer in Prineville, Ore., she attended Prineville and Mount Baker schools. In February of 1945, she married Clarence "Clary" H. Latham at her parents' home in Bellingham. He died in 1987. Mrs. Latham worked for J.C. Penney Co. Inc. and as a bookkeeper for Latham's Service Station. Later, she owned and operated a gift gallery, The Briar Patch. Mrs. Latham was a member of the Emblem Club. She enjoyed writing, decorating and handwork. She published stories and wrote poetry and songs. Her brother Darrell Hammer and sister Ada Fiamengo also died previously. Survivors include daughter Jeri L. Stevenson of Idaho sisters Roberta Gorum, Anita May and Winona Bowhay, all of Bellingham brothers Jerry and Bill Hammer, both of Bellingham, Dick Hammer of Burlington, Ray Hammer of Sultan, Howard Hammer of Stanwood, Leo Hammer of Lake Goodwin and Ted Hammer of Alaska one grandchild one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. LATHERS, Kathleen Carole - Funeral services for Kathleen Carole Lathers, 8174 Birch Bay Drive, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Jerns-McKinney Funeral Chapel, Blaine, the Rev. Don Walter officiating. Mrs. Lathers, 40, died Monday (Jan. 20, 1986) in an automobile accident on H Street Road about 12 miles east of Blaine. She was born Sept. 2, 1945, in Kingston, Ontario and had lived in Whatcom County for the last eight years. Before that she lived in Seattle, where she worked as a computer specialist for 12 years at Pacific Bank. She was a co-owner of the Tideflats Restaurant and Lounge in Birch Bay, past secretary-treasurer of the Birch Bay Chamber of Commerce and an active volunteer for many Birch Bay community activities. Surviving are her husband, Eddie Lathers Jr., and her parents, James and Violet Stevens, of Port Coquitlam, B.C.
LATTA, Faye M. - Memorial services for Faye M. Latta were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at Faith Reformed Church, with the Rev. Dick Vriesman officiating. Mrs. Latta, 85, 809 Edson St., Lynden, died Monday, April 20, 1987, in Lynden. She was born April 14, 1902, in Rockville, Neb., and had lived in Lynden since 1979. Survivors include a son, George J. Young of Lynden; a daughter, Evelyn A. Prince of Custer; a step-son, Robert Latta, of Wyoming; a step-daughter, Roberta Milton of Wyoming; a brother, Howard Nielson of Seattle; two sisters, Evelyn Bartunek and Irma K. Woten, both of Nebraska; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
LATTA, Robert Day, age 79, of Lynden died Feb. 29th 1984 at his residence. He was a rancher in Wyoming where he grew up & also operated his own guide & outfitting business. He came to this area in 1979 & has been a member of the Puget Sound Antique Tractor Club, the National Rifle Assoc. & the Assembly of God Church, Anacortes. He was married to his wife Faye in 1952 & surviving besides his wife is a son, Colonel Robert Latta of Cheyene, Wyoming; a step-son, George Young of Lynden; a daughter, Roberta Milton in Wyoming; a step-daughter, Evelyn Prince of Custer; 1 brother, William Latta in Wyoming; 10 grandchildren; & 7 great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 3, at 1 p.m. in the Jerns LeVeck Funeral Chapel, Sunset & James Streets, Pastor Thomas Randall officiating.
LATHROP, Alcora S., age 78 years, of 346 South Forest, passed away at a local hospital, Thursday, May 8, (1947). Mrs. Lathrop had resided here the past fifty-seven years and was the widow of Mr. C. T. Lathrop, former Purchasing agent for the P.A.F. Deceased was a member of St. James Presbyterian Church and leaves to survive one cousin, Mrs. W. A. McLeod, of this city. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Revs. John K. Mitchell and James M. Wilson, Saturday, May 10, at 1:30 p.m. Final resting place, Bay View.
LATHROP, Arthur John, age 92, of 3006 North Shore Rd., passed away at his residence Fri., Nov. 22, 1985. He leaves to survive 2 sons, Dick Lathrop of Utah and John of Calif.; 5 daughters, Tani J. Sutley of Bellingham, Cherie Lehl of Kansas, Elaine Stills, Barbara Ferrier and Jane Patterson, all of Calif.; 2 grandchildren. Service arrangements are pending at Jerns & LeVeck Funeral Chapel.
LATHROP, Neil B., age 60, of 2420 Vista Dr., passed away Fri. Nov. 15, (1985) in a local hospital. He was the owner of Nicholas Jerns Realty; past president of Board of Realtors; member of Assumption Church and very active in numerous church activities; past president of Bellingham Chamber of Commerce; past president American Cancer Society Board; member Bellingham Yacht Club; Rotary Club; organized the local Multiple Sclerosis Drive in Bellingham; was on the Boundary Review Board; DARE Association and was active in the Bi-Centennial; a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army in the 1st Cavalry Division. Survived by his wife Goldine; 2 daughters, Terry & husband Matt Lathrop-Treat of Bellingham, Cheri & husband Rick Shagren of Seattle; 3 brothers, Edward Lathrop, Bill Lathrop both of Seattle, Allan Lathrop of Rice Lake Wisconsin, preceded in death by Robert Lathrop of Rice Lake, Wisconsin. LATIMER, Daniel Lloyd, age 76, passed away at the family home, 1317 Indian Street, Thursday, May 19, (1949). Mr. Latimer had resided i this community for the past 29 years and was retired, having been the wharfinger at the Municipal Dock for six years. Deceased was a member of the First Christian Church, Bellingham Lodge No. 56, Knights of Pythias; Dramatic Order of Knight of Khorassan of that order and also a member of the Whatcom Lodge No. 151, F. and A.M. Surviving relatives are the widow, Rose, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Thelma Miller, of Bremerton, and Mrs. Myrtle Hatley, of Anacortes; one grandchild, Miss Gloria Hatley, also of Anacortes; two brothers, Dorian, of South Africa, and Walter, of Toronto, Canada. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth, where funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. A Paul Daugherty and the officers of the Knights of Pythias, Monday, May 23, at 1 p.m. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery.
LATIMER, Rosa Caroline, age 87, of Vancouver, Wash., passed away in that city Tuesday, July 11, (1961). Mrs. Latimer had been a resident of this community for 49 years before moving to Vancouver one year and four months ago., and was a member of the Pythian Sisters and the Rebekahs. Surviving relatives include two daughters, Mrs. Thelma I. Miller of Vancouver, Wash., and Mrs. Myrtle I. Hatley of Salem, Ore., and one granddaughter. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted Monday, July 17, at 1 p.m. Final resting place Woodlawwn Cemetery.
LATSHA, Lawrence E., age 64 who resided in Martin City, Montana passed away suddenly Sunday, Sept. 12, (1982) while visiting with friends at Birch Bay. He was a retired carpenter and a veteran of WWII. Funeral services will be held Saturday Sept. 18 in Columbia Falls, Montana. Local arrangements by Jerns LeVeck Funeral Chapel.
LAUB, Leona N., age 54, of 2610 1/2 W. Maplewood, passed away in a local hospital, Tuesday, May 12, (1959) following a short illness. Mrs. Laub had been a resident of Bellingham since 1923, and was a member of the Birchwood Presbyterian Church and the VFW Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband, George; three daughters, Mrs. Helen Franklin of Newport, Ore., Mrs. Ruby Casey of Aberdeen and Mrs. Vina Dickinson of Edmonds, a foster son, John B. Long, San Diego, Calif.; 12 grandchildren, her mother, Mrs. Tay Schoenberger and a brother Clayton Schoenberger, both of Bellingham. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, may 15, at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of the Westford Funeral home with Rev. Gordon Crider officiating.
LAUBE, Ada May, age 83, died September 25, (2002) in her home at Winslow Green on Bainbridge Island. Ada May was born November 11, 1918 to Roy and Henrietta Underwood in Waterville, WA. Her maternal grandparents were settling pioneers to the area. She established lifelong friendships and told many stories about growing up in a small town. Ada May attended Washington State University, pledged Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and remained a loyal Cougar fan. She received her teaching certificate from Eastern Washington in Cheney. Mrs. Laube recalled her first interview sitting on a steamer trunk in the principal's home with laundry lines strung throughout. That year, 1941, in Monroe, WA., she was assigned 45 first and second graders and in her own words, "Believe it or not, they all learned to read." June 13, 1942 Ada May married Karl L. Laube, a Boeing engineer who worked on the B17 bomber. They resided in Seattle where daughter Linda was born. In 1947, they purchased and moved to the Laube family farm in Ferndale, WA. In 1950, she resumed her career of 25 years with the Meridian School District. Her years in Ferndale were divided between teaching, gardening and helping during calving and harvesting season. She was also involved in Delta Kappa Gamma Teacher's Society and in the Christian Science Church as pianist. After her husband's death in 1984, Ada May relocated to Bainbridge Island to be near her family. She participated in the family business, the Chocolate Factory, and loved to complain about the pay and the fact that she could eat only the rejects. Mrs. Laube resided at Winslow Green and claimed that from her window above Bainbridge Bakers she could identify the residents of Bainbridge Island by the tops of their heads. During her 18 years at the Green, Ada May established wonderful friendships spanning all generations. - A fun-loving adventurer to other widowed comrades at Winslow Green (a few car crashes). - A mother to Linda, Paulette and all who needed one - A confidante, advisor and friend to her granddaughter Kim and grandson Karl - A warm, loving and adoring great grandmother to Lewis and Baxter. Ada May was an avid reader and historian with membership in the Bainbridge Book Club. She didn't always like the books, but read them anyway. She was a firm supporter of the Republican Party and immersed herself in politics and current events. She was willing to take up debate especially regarding Bill and Hillary Clinton. Her travels to Europe and New Zealand gave her appreciation of worlds outside her own. She wanted to learn more each day. Always dignified and a wonderful conversationalist she remained interested and interesting. Ada May loved the visits from her niece Judy Imler and family of Colfax, WA. She welcomed and appreciated visits from her friends, Judy Rapada, Shari Wyatt, Joan Brings, and Mary Lou Aaland, Jan Nelson and the Potter family. She will be missed. Mrs. Laube is survived by her sister Marge Black Crawford of Idaho, daughter Linda Prisk, son-in-law Gary Prisk, grandson Karl Prisk, granddaughter Kim Prisk Bignold, grandson-in-law Brian Bignold, great grandsons Baxter and Lewis Bignold of Bainbridge Island, God daughter Paulette Bacling and her family of San Diego, CA and many cousins, nieces and nephews in the Western States. At her request, there will be no service. In the spring there will be a gathering of family and friends at the Prisk home. The date will be announced later. Arrangements are under the direction of Kass Funeral Home, Bainbridge Island, WA.

LAUBE, Ethel B., age 92 of 3301 Alabama, passed away Sat. June 18, (1977). Mrs. Laube had been a life resident of Bellingham and was a charter member of the Gold Star Mothers, a life member of the Aftermath Club Chapter AB P.E.O. Sisterhood, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She leaves to survive 2 daughters, Mrs. William Howard of this city and Mrs. Dwight Divird, Medesto (sic), Calif; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, June 20 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home, with Rev. Scott Opsahl of St. James Presbyterian Church officiating. Followed by cremation.

LAUBE, Fred Ernest, age 78, 1404 Taylor Avenue, passed away in a local hospital Thursday, Oct. 11, (1962). Mr. Laube was a mining engineer and businessman and had resided here for the past 63 years; served two terms as Whatcom County Commissioner, two terms on the Bellingham School Board and two terms as State Tax Commissioner for this district. He was a member of St. James Presbyterian Church; past exalted ruler and life member of Bellingham Lodge No. 194, BPO Elks; member of Bellingham Bay Lodge No. 44, F & AM; FOE Aerie No. 31, and Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. Survivors are his widow, Ethel B., at home; two daughters, Mrs. Ethelfred Howard, city, Mrs. Katherine Mae Divird, Belmont, Calif., and four grandchildren. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Dr. Glenn C. Carlson on Monday, Oct. 15, at 1 p.m. Cremation.
LAUBE, Harry Augustus, age 68, of 1110 Jersey Street, passed away in a local rest home Sunday, Oct. 29, (Mr. Laube had been a resident of this community for the past 55 years and was a retired farmer. Surviving relatives are his widow, Edith C. at home; two sons, Karl of Rt. 1, Ferndale, and Harry A. of Bellingham; one daughter, Mrs. Helen DuVall of Rt. 2, Lynden; five grandchildren; two brothers, Frank J. of Seattle, and Herbert D. of Ithaca, N.Y.; one sister, Mrs. Leona Merrill, of Birmingham, Ala., and numerous nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted Friday, November 3, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Cannon E. B. Smith. Final resting place, Woodlawn Cemetery.
LAUBE, Karl L., age 70, 709 W. Wiser Lake Rd., passed away Sat. July 28, (1984). Mr. Laube was a life resident of Whatcom County, was a farmer and was retired plant superintendent for the Lynden Frosted Foods. He was an aeronautical engineer for Boeing, was a member of the Washington Generals Assoc., and Whatcom County Cattlemans Assoc. He leaves to survive his wife Ada of the family home; 1 daughter, Linda Prisk of City; 2 grandchildren; 1 brother, Harry Laube of City and 1 sister, Helen DuVall of Everett; several nieces & nephews. Private family services will be held Tues. July 31 at Woodlawn Cemetery, with Rev. Don McClellan officiating. Under the direction of the Westford Funeral Home.

LAUBE, Laura L., 88, of 702 32nd St., died Wednesday (July 5, 1989) in Bellingham. Mrs. Laube, born Sept. 23, 1900, in Lawrence, was a lifelong resident of Whatcom County. Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews. Private graveside services will be held at Bayview Cemetery.
LAUBE, Louisa A., age 78 years, 1006 Garden Street, passed away at a local hospital, Friday, February 14, (1947) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Laube had been a resident of Bellingham for the past forty-one years and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. Surviving relatives include the husband, Mr. Charles Laube, and one daughter, Mrs. Agnes Crandell, of Davenport, Iowa. Funeral services will be conducted at the Bingham-Dahlquist Funeral Home, Saturday, February 22, at 1:30 p.m., after which the remains will be forwarded to Rock Island, Ill., for interment.
LAUBSCHER, John, age 74, of 513 1/2 W. Holly Street, passed away in a local hospital Saturday, Jan. 12, (1952). Mr. Laubscher had been a resident of this community for many years and was a retired logger. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth, where services will be conducted by the Rev. Gordon Loren, Tuesday, January __ at 10:30 a.m. Cremation.
LAUCK, Mae V. - Funeral service for Mae V. Lauck, age 61, of 11905 36th Dr. NE, Marysville, formerly of Bellingham, will be Mon., Aug. 4th 1 p.m. at the Jones funeral Home. Cremation Greenacres Crematorium. Mrs. Lauck passed away Thurs., July 31st, (1986). She was a Bellingham resident most of her life until moving to Marysville 20 years ago. She is survived by her husband, William; 2 daughters, Carolann Ward and son-in-law Clifton Ward of Marysville, Debbie Boyd and son-in-law Steve Boyd of City; 7 grandchildren, Tina, Steven, Brandie, Jason, Sadie, Mitchell and Ashly; mother, Sadie Spaulding of City; brother, Henry Slikker and sister-in-law, Elma Slikker of Veseta, OR. She was preceded in death by her father Thomas D. LaFleur, brother Eugene LaFleur, and son-in-law Jay Hamblin.

LAUCKHART, Harlan Henry, aged 52, passed away Saturday, Jan. 24, at the home of his mother, Mrs. S. A. Curtis, 2801 Victor St., with whom he had resided the past two years. He had resided in Snohomish for thirty-two years, where he was employed as a truck driver prior to his retirement two years ago, due to illness. Surviving, other than his mother, are: one son, Richard, of Snohomish, three sisters; Mrs. Alice Evatt, Mrs. Laura Matz and Mrs. Elma Pauley, all of Bellingham, also may aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home, where services will be conducted by the Rev. James B. Hughes Tuesday, January 27, at 1:30 p.m. Final resting place Lynden Cemetery.
LAUDER, Edith Bingham, age 66, of Pomona, Calif., passed away in a local hospital, Tuesday, June 21, (1955). Mrs. Lauder had been in Bellingham for the past week visiting her son and family. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Surviving relatives are five sons, Jim and Harry Lauder, both of Pomona, Calif., Russel of Sugar City, Idaho, Parley of Holtville, Calif., and Ted Lauder of Bellingham; eight daughters, Mrs. Romola Lissh of San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Alieen Bustos of Pomona, Mrs. Wilda Peterson of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Mrs. Margaret Perry of Glendale, Calif., Mrs. Lavell Layton of Corona, Calif., Mrs. Janetta Ellsworth of Anchorage, Alaska, Mrs. Blanche Edwards of henry's Lake, Idaho ad Mrs. Ethel Hill of Smithfield Utah; 30 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The remains were forwarded by the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home to the Nelson Funeral Home, Logan, Utah, for services and interment.
LAUDER, William, age 87 years, passed away at a local hospital, Tuesday, March 13, (1945). He had been a resident of Lopez Island for the past 42 years and came to Whatcom County two years ago. He is survived by one son, Earl, and one daughter, May, in Iowa. The remains rest at the Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home where funeral services will be conducted by Elder A. J. Gordon Thursday, March 15, at 10:30 a.m. Final resting place, Bay View Cemetery.
LAUDERDALE, Eugene, 67, of Yuma, Ariz., died Wednesday while camping at Black Mountain Ranch, 6417 Mount Baker Highway. Local arrangements are pending will Gillies Funeral Home.
LAUDERT, Lawrence Verne of 611 E. Holly St. died at home Thursday, April 4, 1996. He was 67. Born Sept. 12, 1928 in Camas, he was a veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife Elizabeth, whom he married June 24, 1983; an aunt, Barbara Levitt of Bellingham; six stepchildren; and 17 grandchildren. Arrangements are by Westford Funeral Home.

LAUE, Edward, age 73 years, passed away at a Seattle hospital Wednesday, March 28, (1945). Mr. Laue's home is at Wapato where he had resided the past forty years.. Surviving relatives are one son, Lt. Col. E. S. Laue, U.S. M.C.; one brother, William, Bellingham; one sister, Laura Horst, Seattle, and one grandchild, Sally Jo Laue, Santa Monica, Calif. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. Roy Leslie Smith, Saturday, March 21, at 3 p.m. Final resting place, Bay View.
LAUE, Gaylord William, age 91, of 1216 Indian St., passed away at St. Joseph Hospital on Saturday Feb. 1, 1992, after an extended illness. He was born Jan. 7, 1901 in Bellingham and graduated from High School in Alma, Wisconsin; worked at Morse Hardware Co. for 48 years; served in the U.S. Army during World War II; active member of Garden St. Methodist Church; was a 32 degree Mason, belonging to Bellingham Bay Lodge #44 F&AM and Scottish Rite; an avid reader, his hobbies were gardening and genealogy research. Survivors include an aunt, Erna Rank of Bellingham; cousins, Elizabeth Rank of Bellingham, Margaret Watts and husband Arthur of Bellingham, Vincent Rank and wife Patricia of Bellevue, and Frank Maiden of California. Services will be held at Garden St. Methodist Church on Thursday, Feb. 6, 1992 at 1:00 p.m. followed by burial at Bay View Cemetery with Rev. William G. Berney officiating. LAUE, William, age 81, passed away at the family home, 1216 Indian Street, Thursday, March 18, (1954). Mr. Laue had resided in this community for the past 54 years and was a retired hardware salesman, having been employed at Morse Hardware for many years. Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Ella Laue at the family home; a son, Gaylord W. Laue, also at home; and a great number of nephews and nieces including Fred Horst of Bellingham and E. S. Laue of Seattle. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by Rev. Clarence J. Forsberg, Monday, March 22 at 1 p.m. Final resting place, Bay View.
LAUER, Frederic H., age 70, passed away at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle on September 12, 1991. He was born on Aug. 17, 1921 to John and Edna Lauer in Dana, Indiana. Mr. Lauer graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Agriculture. He also served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Field Artillery and achieved the rank of Captain. He married Maxine Creek at Fort Sill, Oklahoma on Dec. 5, 1944. In Williamsport, Indiana, he established his own business as The Lauer Agency. He specialized in Professional Farm Management and Rural Appraising. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite, American Legion, Harrison Hills County (sic) Club, Bellingham Yacht Club, American Society of Farm Managers Rural Appraisers, a former Director of the Citizens State Bank in Williamsport, a transfer member from the Elks Lodge in Lafayette, Indiana, to Bellingham Elks Lodge #194. Mr. Lauer was also a member of the Phi Delta Beta Fraternity at Purdue University. Mr. and Mrs. Lauer moved to Bellingham in 1989. He is survived by his wife, Maxine, of the family home; son, Richard H. and Catherine Lauer of Coos Bay, Oregon; daughter Linda J and Michael Stone of Bellingham; 7 grandchildren, John, Kirsten and Michael Lauer and Anthony, Forest, Julie and Brian Stone. Services will be held Wed. Sept. 18, 1991 at 1:30 p.m. at Bayview Cemetery, Rev. Harvey Patterson will officiate. Arrangements by Westford Funeral Home.
LAUER, Michael, age 10, 2000 New Street, passed away Monday, July 13, (1964). Michael was a life resident of this community, and is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lauer, at home; one brother, Patrick Karl; two sisters, Diana Kay and Karla Marie, all at home; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John T. LAUER, John T. "Pop" age 85 of 2001 G St., passed away Sunday July 28, 1979. Mr. Lauer was a 19 year resident of this community and a retired veteran of WW's 1 & 2 having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion, was retired from International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local No. 77. He is survived by a son, Joseph A. LAUGHLIN, John T., aged 78 years, passed away at a local hospital, Wednesday, September 29, (1948) after an illness of four weeks. LAUGHLIN, Josephine, age 83, of 1228 State Street, passed away in a local hospital, Monday, Feb. 28, (1955). LAUGHREN, William Keith Skinner, 55, of Monroe, died at St. Joseph Hospital Main Campus Thursday. He had been ill for about two weeks, and died of complications following surgery. He was born Nov. 30, 1934, in Hamilton, Ontario. A pipefitter and welder, Mr. Laughren worked in and around Bellingham. A Monroe resident for about eight years, he fell ill in Bellingham while working on a job here. Survivors include: his parents, Roy and Margaret Loughren of Portland; his wife Carolee of Bellevue; his daughter Lori Laughren of Seattle; his sisters Sheila Scott of Los Angeles, Eleanor Porter of Portland and Janet Wheatley of Reno, Nev.; and many other family members and friends. LAUGHREY, Barbara Ellen, age 70, of 308 W. Champion Street, passed away in a local hospital Monday, August 17, (1953). Mrs. Laughrey had resided in this community for the past seven years, and was a member of the First Baptist Church, and the Maple Leaf Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. Surviving relatives include a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth L. Keyes, of Bellingham; a granddaughter, Miss Cyrene Keyes, also of Bellingham; and three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Lewis of Columbus, Ohio, Mrs. Mary Amelia Bullock and Mrs. Martha Hakin, both of Akron, Ohio. Services were conducted at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth by the Rev. John E. Parrott Wednesday, August 19, at 10:30 a.m. Cremation.
LAURENDEAU, Theresa, of 3151 Locust St., passed away Sun. Sept. 4, (1988) at her residence. She was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba, Canada on Aug. 16, 1915 and attended St. Josephs Academy during her scholastic years. She later graduated as a laboratory technician at st. Boniface Hospital where she worked for several years and later followed her fathers footsteps and obtained her medical degree in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and her pathology degree in Vancouver, B.C. Theresa was pathologist at St. Lukes Hospital in Bellingham from 1962 until her retirement. She founded the Laurendeau Foundation for Cancer Care, a foundation that helps Whatcom County Cancer patients with medical expenses. She leaves to survive 2 sisters, Jacqueline Laurendeau and Lucille Dumaine both of Winnipeg, Manitoba; a brother, Marcel & wife Margaret of Vancouver, B.C. Mass of Christian Burial will be said Thurs. Sept. 8 at 9:30 a.m. at Assumption Church followed by burial in Ten Mile Cemetery with Father John Madigan officiating. LAURITZEN, Joseph, age 91 who resided in Blaine, passed away in a local nursing home, February 8, 1981. He leaves to survive 1 sister, Olga Breimo of White Rock, B.C. LAUSCH, Aaron M., age 85 years, of 1201 East Maplewood, passed away at a local hospital Saturday, February 9, (1952) following a lingering illness. He had been a resident of Bellingham for the past three years; coming here from Astoria, Ore. Mr. Lausch was a retired carpenter. He was a member of the Congregational Church, Odd Fellows Chemekapa Lodge, in Salem, Ore., and Odd fellows Lodge, Bellingham Bay Encampment No. 23. He is survived by one son, Pryson R. Lausch, of Bellingham; two grandsons, H. Bill Lausch, Bellingham, and Pryson A. Lausch, of Roseburg, Ore., and two great-granddaughters. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 11, at 3:30 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the West-Beck Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl Calhoun, pastor of the Congregational Church, officiating. The remains will be forwarded to Salem, Ore., for interment in the Jason Lee Cemetery.
LAUSCH, Harlan Bill, age 70, a longtime Bellingham resident, died July 21, 1997 at St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham. Mr. Lausch was born on June 7, 1927 in Astoria, Oregon to parents Bryson R. and Enga (Stangland) Lausch. During WWII, Mr. Lousch enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served until August of 1946. Bill came to Bellingham in 1949 where he attended Western Washington University. On June 2, 1951, he and Betty Ann Kuder were married in Bellingham. Bill had worked for the Port of Bellingham for 22 years, 20 of those being Harbor Superintendent. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church; the American Legion; U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, past president; Harbor Masters & Port Managers Congress of the Pacific Coast of which he was past president and a lifetime member; a charter member of the U.S. Power Squadron of Bellingham; Past vice commodore of Bellingham Yacht Club and a board member for many years. Past Vice President of Visitors and Convention Bureau; and received Master Mariner Award in 1979. Survivors include his wife of 46 years Betty Ann Lausch of Bellingham; two daughters Angie Lausch of Seattle and Pam McAllister and her husband John of Bellingham; and two grandsons Nate and Tim McAllister. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 1997 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 2530 Cornwall Avenue. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Westford Funeral Home.
LAUSTEN, Nora M., age 81 of Route 3, Ferndale, passed away on Tuesday, November 17 while visiting in Seattle. Mrs. Lausten resided in this area for the past 60 years and was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She leaves to survive one daughter, Mrs. Robert Penny of Seattle; one son, Kenneth Lausten of New Jersey; four sisters, Mrs. Charles Helms Sr. of Deming; Mrs. C. F. Livermore of Ferndale; Miss Eda Williams of Bend, Oregon; Mrs. Gordon Squrie of Belfair; 1 brother, Mr. Howard Williams of Arlington, Wash.; four grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. The Rev. LAUTENBACH, Bertha, 77, of 125 W. Wiser Lake Road, Ferndale, died Thursday, April 2, 1992, at her home after an extended illness. She was born to Tjebke and Syboutje VanderMeer in Friesland, The Netherlands, on June 29, 1914. She married Ralph Lautenbach in Friesland May 9, 1938. They moved to Whatcom County in 1947. They later moved to Auburn for three years, but returned to Whatcom County to operate a dairy farm, first on Stickney Island Road, then Nooksack Road. In 1981, they moved to Wiser Lake Road. Mrs. Lautenbach was a charter member of Faith Reformed Church in Lynden, where she sang in the church choir and other musical groups. She also sang on the former radio program, "The Lynden Hour." She enjoyed knitting and baking. Survivors include her husband of the family home; daughters, Sylvia Kuiken of Lynden and Tearesa Sanderg of Wrangell, Alaska; sons, Terry Lautenbach of Bow and Jim Lautenbach of Langley; a sister, Eihertje Veeninga of Ontario, Canada; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. today, and 9 a.m. Monday at Gillies Funeral Home, 202 Front St., Lynden. Interment will be in Monumenta Cemetery at 3:15 p.m. Monday, followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m. in the Faith Reformed Church, 7th and Liberty streets, Lynden, with Rev. LAUTENBACH, Jacob - Funeral services for Mr. Jacob Lautenbach, age 78, formerly of 903 Main St., Lynden, were conducted on Monday, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m. in the Nooksack Valley Reformed Church, with Rev. Steve Smallegan officiating. Burial preceded in Monumenta Cemetery at 1 p.m. Mr. Lautenbach, who died in Lynden on Thursday, Nov. 7, (1985) was born in Bolsward, the Netherlands, on July 14, 1907. He moved to the Lynden area with his wife, Winnie, and their family in 1947; they were married in Holland on May 11, 1935. Mrs. Lautenbach died in 1968. Mr. Lautenbach was a retired dairy farmer and a member of the Nooksack Valley Reformed Church. He is survived by five sons, Jake and wife Maurine of Portland, Ore., Sy and wife Harriet and Ralph and wife Donna, all of Everson; Ted and wife Diane of Lynden, and Gordon and wife Pam of Bellingham; daughter, Mrs. Fran and husband Paul Rockwell of Bellingham; 19 grandchildren; two brothers, Ralph of Lynden and Gordon in Holland; two sisters, Mrs. G. Atsma and Mrs. M. Cossen, both in the Netherlands; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter in 1943. Funeral services were under the direction of Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden.

LAUTENBACH, Sietke "Shirley" of 935 Front St., Lynden, died Friday, April 9, 1993, at St. Joseph Hospital Main Campus. She was 73. She was born Oct. 4, 1919, in Holland to Waling and Yanke Cnossen Frankema. She married Gordon Lautenbach on May 25, 1944, in Holland. They moved to Whatcom County in 1954. Mrs. Lautenbach was a homemaker and a member of First Reformed Church in Lynden. She was preceded in death by her parents; by two brothers, Michael and Bouke; and by a sister, Anne. Survivors include her husband of the family home; daughters Jeannie Bricker of Ferndale and Tia Milton of Bellingham; brother Auke Frankema of Holland; sister Hinke, also of Holland; four grandchildren; and numerous other relatives. LAVALLEE, Marion, of Bellingham died at home Thursday, July 10, 1997. She was 76. Burial will be in Gloversville, N.Y. She was born June 16, 1920, to Patrick and Anna Martin Luskin. LAVENDER, Geoffrey, age 63, Star Route, Deming, passed away in a local hospital Thursday Oct. 18, (1962). Mr. Lavender had resided in this community for the past 16 years, and was a retired farmer. Survivors are his widow, Beatrice, at home; two sons, Denis, Corvallis, Ore., Ian of Seattle; five grandchildren; two brothers, Brian of Seattle, Denis, Victoria, B.C., and two brothers and three sisters in England. LAVENDER, Jannet, age 90, of 905 High St., passed away in a local hospital, Wednesday, aug. 9, (1961). A 17-year resident of Bellingham, Mrs. Lavender was the widow of the late Bert Lavender and had attended the Presbyterian Church. LAVERDURE, Gus, age 66, of Lummi Village, passed away at home Tuesday, February 25, (1964). Mr. Laverdure was a twenty-year resident of this community, and was a self-employed fisherman. He is survived by one brother, Russell Laverdure of Seattle. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Father W. Robert Webb at the Jones Funeral Home Friday, February 28 at 10:30 a.m. followed by burial in Lummi Cemetery.
LAVERTY, Bernard J., age 75, 6085 Summit View Place, Ferndale, passed away Sunday, March 1, 1992 at home. Mr. Laverty was born on November 14, 1916 in Olean, N.Y. to Francis H. and Mary T. Woods Laverty. He graduated from St. Mary's of the Angels School and Olean High School. During WWII he served as a sergeant in the Signal Corps and received five battle stars for valor. After the was he returned to work at Socony (Mobil Oil where he was employed for 40 years, moving to Ferndale in 1954 with the opening of the refinery at Cherry Point. Mr. Laverty had a life-long interest in sports. He managed the Columbian Squires baseball team, was the co-founder and long-time secretary/treasurer of the Ferndale Recreation Council, and was a former Washington State Commissioner of the National Baseball Congress. He was an honor live member of B.P.O.E. #491 in Olean, N.Y. and the American Legion where he held numerous offices including Commander of Ferndale Kulshan Post 154, 2nd. District Vice Commanders, Chef de Gare Whatcom County Voiture #112 of the 40 et 8 and Legion Representative in Boy Scout Troop #26. Mr. Laverty was a lifelong Democrat and frequent Precinct Committeeman. He was named Man of the Year by the Record Journal and by the Ferndale Lions as well as Whatcom County sports Man of the Year. He is survived by his wife, the former Marguerite Sullivan of N. Grafton, MA, of Ferndale; five children, Michael of Coral Springs, FL, Mary Benson of Ferndale, Daniel of Vancouver, WA, Sean of Seattle, and Elizabeth Laverty of Westborough, MA, a brother James of Olean, N.Y., 9 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A Vigil Service will be held Wednesday, March 4, 8:30 p.m. at Moles Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be said on Thursday, March 5, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church where Mr. Laverty was a member. He will be buried in Grafton, MA. LAVIELLE, Albena, age 78, of 702 32nd St., passed away Jan. 31, 1991 at her residence. She had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 2 years and leaves to survive 2 sons, Paul of Surrey, B.C., Gary of Toronto, Canada; 2 grandchildren; 5 brothers, Joe, Peter, Ross all of Toronto, Canada and Alphonse & Philip Clark of Gravenhurst, Ontario; 5 sisters, Elaine Robinson of Toronto, Olga of Toronto, Margie Trenbley of Montreal & Dorothy Clark & Joyce Clark. Private family services were conducted Mon. Feb. 4 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with Father Jim Lee officiating.
LAVIEN, Anna F., age 88, of 901 6th Ave., Seattle, passed away in that city Wed., Oct. 27, (1976). A pioneer of Whatcom County, she homesteaded with her parents, E. of Blaine in 1889. She had made her home in Nome, Alaska, prior to moving to Seattle in 1927. Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in Veroske's McKinney Funeral Home, Sat., Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Julia Brand officiating. Burial in the Blaine Cemetery.
LAVIGNE, Lawrence - A memorial service for Lawrence Lavigne of Bellingham will be at 2:15 p.m. Saturday at Sedro-Woolley Masonic Hall. A reception will follow. Mr. Lavigne died Sunday, Nov. 13, 1994, at home. He was 70. Born may 19, 1924, in Boston, he served in the U.S. Army in the European theater during world War II and was a member of World Wide Church of God in Sedro-Woolley. He married Roxie J. Kinosian on Oct. 15, 1955. He an his wife moved to Bellingham in 1991. Survivors include his wife of Bellingham and numerous other relatives. Arrangements are by Bleitz Funeral Home of Seattle.
LAVIGNE, Mose, age 75, of Fairhaven Park, passed away at the residence at Eighth and Harris Thursday evening, December 22, (1949). Mr. LaVigne had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 10 years and was formerly a woodsman. Surviving relatives include a brother, Frank LaVigne, of Kelso; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Maude LaVigne, of Anacortes; grand nieces and nephews, Edmond Lawrence and Billy Ashley, both of Port Angeles, and Lyle Lawrence, Lorraine Ashley and Ruth Newell, all of Bellingham. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, December 27, at 11 a.m. at the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home.
LAVIGUEURE, Rachelle – Visitation for Rachelle "Shelly" Louise Lavigueure of Bellingham will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Westford Funeral Home. A service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hillcrest Chapel. Ms. Lavigueure died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 1994, at home. She was 28. Born March 23, 1966 to Paul and Clara Lavigueure in Edmonds, she was raised in Whatcom County and graduated from Bellingham High School. She attended Western Washington University and was to graduate with a bachelor's degree in psychology in March. She worked with children at the Whatcom Connection. She loved the outdoors, hiking, camping and scuba diving. Survivors include sons Joshua Mason Lavigueure and Zachary Roy Lavigueure, both of the family home; daughter Candace Rose Lavigueure of the family home; her parents of Bellingham; brother Gordon Lavigueure of Bellingham; sisters Connie Lavigueure and Amy Harmon, both of Bellingham; maternal grandparents Kenneth and Marie Burke of Bellingham; and paternal grandparents Rene and Dorothy Lavigueure of Redmond.

LAVILLE, Joan Simmonds of Upland, Calif., died Tuesday (April 23, 1985) in California. She was 44. She is survived by her mother, Isabelle Warbus of Lummi; one daughter; nine sisters, including Rose Lane, Joyce Piel, Burnadette Hayward, Josephine Charlie, Cynthia Warbus, all of Lummi, and Alma Charles of Bellingham; brothers Ward Simmonds of Lummi and Floyd Warbus of Lynden; one grandson; and numerous other relatives. Vigil will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Moles Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joachim's Catholic Church on the Lummi Indian Reservation, with burial to follow at the Lummi Reservation Cemetery.

LAVIOLETTE, Alfred Patrick, age 51, of 15315 Washington Ave. S. W., Tillicum, Wn. passed away at home Wednesday, Sept. 12, (1956). Mr. LaViolette had been employed at the Mt. Rainier Ordinance Depot, as a gunsmith and was a veteran of WWII. Surviving relatives are his widow, Carrie, at home; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Walter of Bellingham; one brother, Ernest Francisco of El Paso, Texas and one sister, Mrs. Ruby Todorovich of Seattle. The remains rest at Jones' Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home where Military services will be conducted Monday, Sept. 17, at 1 p.m. Final resting place Bay View.
LAVIOLETTE, Dorothea May, age 51, 2810 Texas St., passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, March 6, (1963). Mrs. LaViolette had resided in Bellingham for the past 12 years and attended the Methodist Church. Survivors are her father, Murray Howard, Merrill, Ore.; one sister, Mrs. Doris Reichert and one nephew, Larry Reichert, both of Seattle. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Rev. Robert Irwin Monday, March 11 at 1: p.m. Final resting place Bay View Cemetery.
LAVIOLETTE, Francis A., 65, a former Bellingham resident, died Sunday in West Lafayette, Ind., his home for more than 30 years. He had recently retired as a professor of agronomy in the Research Department at Purdue University. He was born Nov. 22, 1919, in Bellingham. He attended Assumption School, and graduated from Bellingham High school in 1937. Before and after his military service in the Army during World War II, he worked for Hohl Feed & Seed Co. He was a former member of Church of the Assumption. He graduated from Purdue University, where he became a member of the faculty. He was one of several scientists who developed resistance to root rot in soybeans. He also had been an adviser to seed companies. He is survived by his wife, Helen Louise; a son; two grandsons; and a brother, Jack Laviolette of Bellingham. He was preceded in death by a son. Funeral services were in Lafayette, In., with burial in Martinsville, Ind.
LAVIOLETTE, Gaston J., age 64, of Anacortes, passed away at a local hospital Monday, January 22, (1951) following a lingering illness. Mr. Laviolette was a retired millworker. He was a member of the Catholic Church and the Sawmill and Lumber Workers Union. Surviving relatives include a daughter, Mrs. Katherine Willoughby and a grandson, Calvin Willoughby, both of Seattle; two brother, Joseph, of Bellingham, and Oscar, of Kelso; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Swiger and Mrs. Laura Cole, both of Seattle, and many other relatives. Rosary will be said Friday, January 26, at 7:30 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home. Requiem mass will be said Saturday, January 27, at 9 a.m. within the Church of the Assumption, with the Rev. Bernard Cremer officiating. Interment in Bay View Cemetery.
LAVIOLETTE, George G., age 70 years, 1457 Grant Street, passed away at a local hospital, Thursday, January 17, (1946). Mr. Laviolette had resided here the past fifty-four years and was a member of Bellingham Lodge No. 56, Knights of Pythias, and Shingleweavers Local 2529 at Anacortes, Surviving relatives are the widow, Edith A., at home; three brothers, Joseph of this city, Oscar, at Aberdeen, and Gaston, at Sedro-Woolley; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Swiger and Mrs. Howard Cole, at Seattle; also nephews and nieces. Where serviced will be conducted by Rev. R. S. Wagoner Monday, January 21, at 1:30 p.m. Final resting place, Bay View.
LAVIOLETTE, John A., "Jack" age 64, of 2430 Cherry, passed away Wed., Dec. 4th, (1985). Mr. Laviolette was a life resident of Bellingham, veteran of WWII, member of the Church of the Assumption and was the former owner of Pauline's Restaurant. He leaves to survive his wife Pauling of the home and several other relatives. Rosary will be said Sun. Dec. 8, 7 p.m. in the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home. LAVIOLETTE, Jospeh G., age 66, of 2310 East Sunset Dr., passed away in a local hospital Friday, Jan. 11, (1957). Mr. Laviolette had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 81 years and was a member of the Holy Names Society, Church of the Assumption and was a retired mill worker. He leaves to survive his wife, Mrs. Clara Laviolette of the family home; two sons, Francis A. of Lafayette, Ind., John A. of this city; two grandsons; one brother Oscar J. of Kelso; two sisters, Mrs. Mary E. Swiger of this city, and Mrs. Laura M. Cole of Seattle, Numerous nieces and nephews. Rosary will be said Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 8:30 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home. Requiem High Mass will be sung Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 9:30 a.m., within the Church of the Assumption, pastor celebrant. Interment, Bay View.
