LAIDLAW, William J. - Memorial services for William J. Laidlaw, president of Whatcom Community College, were held Saturday at First Congregation Church in Bellingham. Laidlaw, 50, died Nov. 20, (1983) of cancer at his home, 1459 Central Road. Born in East Orange, N.J., June 14, 1933, he had been involved in higher education as a teacher and administrator for more than 20 years. He held instructor and professor position at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, N.J., at City University of New York, at Western Washington University (1965-66) and the State University of New York. He became president of Whatcom Community College in 1978. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; a son, Jack; and numerous relatives in the United States and Canada. After four years in the Air Force, he received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University, a master's in educational psychology from Columbia University and a doctor of education degree in educational psychology from Columbia. His career included employment with Xerox Corp. He was also vice president and director of research for Cybern Education Inc. in New York for one year. He came to Whatcom Community College after serving five years as a professor and associate dean of academic affairs of the State University of New York's Empire State College at Rochester. His awards include being named Higher Education Person of the Year (1981-82) by the Washington Association of Community College Students. He was also cited for "outstanding support and service" by American Associating of Women in Community and Junior Colleges last April.LAIRD, Betty J., age 54 of 1509 E. Victor St., passed away Thursday Nov. 9, 1978. Miss Laird was a resident of this community most of her life and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She is survived by a brother,Gordon Laird, a sister Mrs. Mae Allinson, both city. Services Monday Nov. 13 at 10:30 a.m. at Greenacres Memorial Park, Rev. C. Thomas Lane officiating. Mrs. Laird had lived in Bellingham for several years with her daughter, Christine Williams. She was born March 22, 1899, to Eugene and Cora Albritton and was reared in Mississippi. She worked at the Singer Sewing Center in Mount Vernon before she retired. Survivors include daughters Jacqulyn Laird Fowler of Baton Rouge, Janet Laird Newman of Ventura, Calif., and Christine Laird Williams of Bellingham; brothers Charles Albritton and Cecil Albritton, both of Brookhaven, Miss.; 13 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Arrangements were by the Catchings Funeral Home in McComb, Miss.
LAIRD, Gary L., Everson was killed in a wreck (Dec. 17, 1972). He was 18 years of age at the time of death. He was a lifetime resident of Whatcom County and had attended Lynden Christian High School. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Laird, Everson; four brothers, Greg, Fort Lewis, Glenn, Galen and Guy at home; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence DeLange, Lynden. Services for him were directed by Gillies Funeral Home.

LAIRD, Kathleen R., age 38, of 444 So. State St., passed away Mon. Nov. 21, (1988). She had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past 3 years. Survived by her husband Frederick Laird; 2 sons, Scott Kane, Michael Kane both of New York; 2 sisters, Karen Ceney of Santa Clara, CA & Irene Ceney of Bellingham. Funeral services will be conducted Fri. Nov. 25 at 1:30 in the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home followed by burial in Bayview Cemetery.
LAIRD, Mary, age 71 who resided at 2105 A St. passed away in a local hospital Saturday September 7, (1963) following a brief illness. Mrs. Laird had resided in Bellingham her entire lifetime with the exception of 7 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, American Legion Auxiliary and WCTU. Her husband, Robert Laird preceded her in death 14 days ago. She leaves to survive her son, Gordon A., 2 daughters, Mrs. Mae Allison & Miss Betty Laird all of Bellingham, 2 sisters, Mrs. Ethel Allinson of Bellingham and Mrs. Iva Mapes of Calif., 2 brothers, Irv[line of text missing] numerous nieces and nephews. LAIRD, Norman, age 62, of 504 5th Ave. So., Seattle, passed away at the home of his brother, Robert Laird, 1809 Laurel Road, Tuesday, Aug. 30, (1960). A retired truck driver, Mr. Laird was a member of the Teamsters Union Local No. 174; had resided in Seattle for the past 43 years and had been visiting in Bellingham the past week. Besides his brother, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Art Barley, of Nonoose Bay, B.C. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by the Rev. Carl Lindstrom, Friday, Sept. 2, at 1 p.m. Final resting place Greenacres Memorial Park.
LAIRD, Robert, age 76, who resided at 2105 A St., passed away on Monday, August 19, (1963) at the family home. Mr. Laird had resided in Bellingham for the past 40 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the American Legion, Albert J. Hamilton Post No. 7 and a WWI veteran. He leaves to survive his widow, Mrs. Mary Laird at home, his son, Gordon A. LAJOYE, John C. "Jack" age 69 of 4000 Flynn St., died Wed. Oct. 8, 1980. A resident of this community for the past 10 years, Mr. Lajoye was a retired photographic surveyor, National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration; member of Bellingham Elks Lodge No. 194; Bellingham Yacht Club and Lake Padden Golf Club. He is survived by his wife, Alice M.; 1 son, John C. LAKE, Eleanor Alma, age 88, passed away at home in Bellingham Thursday, July 6, 2006. She was born March 25, 1918 in Scobey, Montana, to Alma and Walter Willison. Eleanor moved to Washington as a teenager, and graduated from Stanwood High School and Bellingham Normal School. She married George W. Lake on October 14, 1942 in Bellingham. Eleanor taught second and third grades for 25 years in both Oak Harbor and Bellingham. She was involved in many volunteer activities through St. James Presbyterian Church. Eleanor helped run the Seaman's Center in downtown Bellingham; she also taught vacation Bible school, was a deacon and elder in the church, and was loved for her generosity and sense of humor. She enjoyed traveling, boating, camping, reading, her children and grandchildren. Eleanor is survived by her husband, George, son Steve Lake (wife Jennifer) of Maui, Hawaii; daughters Leanne Morrison (husband John) of Olympia, Washington, and Darlene Lake of La Crosse, Wisconsin; four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A private family memorial service is planned.

Lake, 2425 Lafayette Street, passed away at the family home Thursday, February 22, (1945) after a lingering illness. Mr. Lake was a retired carpenter and a member of the Church of the Assumption. He had resided in Bellingham for the past 35 years. Aside from the many friends who will mourn his passing he leaves to survive him his widow; one son, Roy A. Lake, of Alderwood Manor; three sisters, Mrs. Elva Johnston, city, Mrs. Lula Watson, of Londale, Calif., Mrs. Nina Dailey, Hintsley, Minn., and one grandson; also numerous nieces and nephews. Rosary was said at the Church of the Assumption Sunday, February 25, at 7:30 p.m. Requiem Mass was celebrated at the church Monday, February 26, at 9:00 a.m. with Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. G. Stafford officiating. Interment, Bay View under the direction of the Bingham-Dahlquist Funeral Home.
LAKE, James Earl, 44, died suddenly at his home in Bellingham on Sunday, Aug. 29, 1993. Mr. Lake was born on Aug. 13, 1947 to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lake. He graduated from Mark Morris High school in Longview. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War and received the Silver Star and the Purple Heart. He was employed as a certified nurses aide at Sehome Park Care Center in Bellingham and attended Fourth Corner Community Church. In Bellingham on Sept. 9, 1983 he was married to Dawn Rupke and she survives her husband at the family home. Other survivors include daughter Jamie Dawn of the family home; brother David Lake and wife Jacqueline of Longview; and father-in-law Ken Rupke of Everson. A service will be held at 4 p.m. today in the chapel of First Reformed Church in Lynden with Rev. Dave Korsen officiating. Arrangements and cremation are under the care of Gillies Funeral Home of Lynden.

She had been a local resident eighteen years and belonged to the First Presbyterian church. A daughter, Mrs. Helen Berg, city; one sister, Mrs. J. D. Gillus, of Peachland, B.C., and one grandchild survive her. Funeral services, with the Rev. Isaac Ward officiating, will take place in the Bingham-Dahlquist funeral home Wednesday at 1 p.m., followed by interment in Greenacres Memorial Park.
LAKE, Thomas I., age 86, of 1509 E. Victor St., passed away in a local hospital, Tuesday, Oct. 3, (1961) following a short illness. Mr. Lake had lived in Bellingham for the past 21 years and was a retired carpenter. He leaves to survive two daughters, Mrs. Vera Greger of this city, and Mrs. Gladys Scott of Seattle; four sons, Guy G. of Boring, Ore., Fletcher T. of Port Angeles, Francis M. of San Jose, Herbert S. of Seattle; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. LaLONDE, August, 1618 Electric Avenue, aged 79 years, passed away in Seattle Tuesday, October 1, (1940) after a brief illness. Mr. LaLonde had been a resident of Bellingham for the past thirty-six years and was a member of the Church of the Assumption, the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin, the Order of Foresters, and the Holy Names Society. Aside from a host of friends who will mourn his passing he leaves to survie him one son Bernard, of this city; one brother, John LaLonde; two sisters, Miss Odile LaLonde and Miss A. LaLonde, of Ottawa. Solemn requiem mass will be celebrated for the repose of the soul, Saturday morning, October 5, at 9 a.m., within the Church of the Assumption with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. James G. Stafford, officiating, and interment will be made in Bay View Cemetery under the direction of the Bingham-Dahlquist Funeral Home. Rosary will be said at the church Friday evening, October 4 at 8 o'clock. Casketbearers will be Archie O'Byrne, Nicholas Jerns, Joe Hermsen, Frank Pickel, Thomas McMahon and Harold Wahl.
LaLONDE, Kathleen - A Mass of Christian Burial for Kathleen LaLonde of Bellingham will be said at 11 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Gary Morelli celebrating. Burial will be in Bayview Cemetery. Mrs. LaLonde, 77, died Friday, April 15, 1994, at St. Joseph Hospital. She was born Feb. 26, 1917, to Hugh H. and Kate Wallace Niblock in Bellingham. She married Bernard LaLonde on Sept. 7, 1935. Mrs. LaLonde was a member of Sacred Heart Church and of Catholic Daughters of America. Survivors include her husband of the family home; sons James LaLonde, John LaLonde and Hugh LaLonde, all of Bellingham, Joseph LaLonde of Seattle and Gerald LaLonde of Iowa; daughter Jeanne DeJong of Buckley; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. LAMAR, William, age 62 years, resident of Blaine for past four years, passed away at his home Tuesday, May 27, (1947) following a short illness. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ollie Hipsher, East Wenatchee, and several nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the McKinney Funeral Home in Blaine, where funeral services were conducted Friday, May 30, at 2 p.m., under the auspices of the Kulshan Masonic Lodge. The remains were shipped to Belton, Missouri, for interment.
LAMB, Almira, age 86, of 1406 Ellis, passed away at a local hospital Friday March 9, (1951). Mrs. Lamb moved to Bellingham from Portland, Maine, in 1911. She is survived by two nieces, Mrs. Florence E. Willis and Mrs. Marvin Johnson, both of Bellingham. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by Mr. Eugene Smerchek Wednesday, March 14, at 1 p.m. Final resting place, Bay View.
LAMB, Clifford R. - A memorial service for Clifford R. Lamb, 78, of 4414 Birch Bay Lynden Road, Blaine, will be held on Thursday at the Ledgerwood Presbyterian Church in Spokane. Mr. Lamb died Monday (April 1, 1990). He was born on April 2, 1912, and moved to Blaine a year ago. Mr. Lamb worked as a warehouse man for Jensen Byrd Co. Inc. in Spokane. He was a member of the Legderwood Presbyterian Church in Spokane, the eagles Lodge in Blaine and the Teamsters Union. He enjoyed dancing, fishing, bowling and playing cards. Mr. Lamb also enjoyed doing carpentry work. Survivors include his wife, Thora Lamb, of the family home; three sons, Clifford F. Lamb of Auburn, Loren Lamb of Yakima, and Collin Lamb of Spokane; a daughter, Lucy Walsh of Seattle; two brothers, Donald Lamb of Chino, Calif., and Bruce Lamb of Spokane; a sister, Avis Hardwood; 29 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. LAMB, Michael - November 22, 1953 - January 26, 2009 Passed away suddenly on Jan. 26, 2009. Mike was born in San Diego, Ca. & graduated from Oak Harbor High School 1971. After serving in the United States Navy he graduated from Bellevue Technical College with an Associates Degree in Broadcasting. He moved to Bellingham 1978 & started a family. Mike loved cooking, camping, playing baseball & watching ALL sports, however his biggest love was behind the camera. He worked at KVOS-TV 12 for 18 Yrs. prior to moving to Arizona. Mike is survived by his sons Mattew & Jason Lamb; his parents Bonnie and Mel Schadler of Mesa, AZ and Bert & Barbara Lamb of Southhaven, MS; his sisters Ronna Schadler, Pam Ekman, Regina Heller; nieces Lesha, Larina, & Kristina; nephews Mark & Michael. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Al Currier officiating. Mrs. Lamb died Tuesday, March 15, 1994, in Wilmington, Del. She was 57. Born May 7, 1936, to Ursula and Garth Mitchell in Bellingham, she graduated from Bellingham High School. After graduation, she was a flight attendant for Western Airlines for nearly four years and received a bachelor's degree from Kansas University. She married Dr. William Lamb in San Francisco in 1961. She and her husband moved to Delaware, where Mrs. Lamb owned and operated an interior decorating shop in Wilmington. Survivors include her husband of the family home in Delaware; son William D. Lamb of Illinois; daughter Karen Lamb of Delaware; and her mother, Ursula A. Legbandt of Bellingham. Local arrangements by Greenacres Funeral Home.
LAMB, Orpha L. - A graveside service for Orpha L. Lamb of Ferndale will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Woodlawn Cemetery with the Rev. Glen Wolf officiating. Mrs. Lamb died at home Thursday, May 9, 1996. She was 94. Born Jan. 22, 1902 to Fred and Nettie Weaver Thompson in Big Timber, Mont., she married Peter Lamb on Feb. 18, 1918 in Big Timber. They moved to Ferndale in 1935. She worked for Alaska Packers. During World War II, she made gas tanks for airplanes for Firestone. She also served as a volunteer plane observer during the war. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 30, 1973. Survivors include son Don Lamb of Ferndale; daughters Lena Dygert of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Jean Weinard of Ferndale; sisters Delia Groom of Billings, Mont., Adell Jones of Great Falls, Mont, and Louise Hogemark of Big Timber; brothers Ora Thompson of Livingston, Mont., Elmer Thompson of Anaconda, Mont, and Maurice Thompson of Billings; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. LAMBERT, Archie F., age 84, of 1213 Humboldt, Bellingham, WA, died peacefully at home on Thursday, September 17, 1992. He was born in Anacortes, WA on November 27, 1907 to Archie and Eliza Lambert. He worked for Morse Hardware as a Sales Manager for over 35 years. His hobbies were guitar playing, wood carving, watch making, appliance repairing, violinist, reading, boating, clamming, crabbing, hunting and was also an inventor. He is survived by his loving wife Anna of the family home, 3 daughters; Patricia and husband Julius Vitale of Puyallup, WA, LeAnne and husband Joe Kent of Morristown, S. Dakota, and Kay Albertson of Bellingham, WA; a sister-in-law Norma Lambert of Bellingham, WA; eleven grandchildren including Karlyne Lambert of Bellingham, WA; and 22 great-grandchildren. LAMBERT, Cora, age 85, formerly of 319 Liberty St., Lynden, passed away in a Lynden nursing home on Wed. Jan. 27, 1982. Born in Van Buren, Missouri, Mrs. Lambert was married to her husband Samuel on March 4, 1916 and in 1944 they moved to Whatcom County. Mr. Lambert died in 1966. LAMBERT, Cora I., of Sumas, passed away at a local hospital, June 25, (1945) at the age of 80 years. She had lived in this county 23 years, coming here from Montana. She is survived by her husband, J. K. Lambert; two daughters, Mrs. Adam MacLay, of Montana, Mrs. Bert James, of Sumas; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. LAMBERT, Coral Lee, age 2 1/2 months, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond L. Lambert of Everson, Rt. No. 1, passed away at the family home Thursday, Feb. 9, (1956). LAMBERT, Craig Franklin, age 18, 939 Lake Whatcom Blvd., passed away Thursday, April 7th (1966) as a result of an accident. Craig was a lifetime resident of this city. He was a graduate of the Lundeberg School of Seamanship in Brooklyn, N.Y. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward W. Lambert, at home, and his grandmother, Mrs. Grace Friend of McLaughlin, So. LAMBERT, Edmund J., age 67, 2630 Verona St., passed away Tuesday, January 4, (1966). He had been a resident for the past year and was a retired construction engineer and a member of San Juan Masonic Lodge No. 175, F.&A.M., and a veteran of WWI. LAMBERT, Edward, age 82. He was born Jan. 10, 1898 at Ekalaka, Montana. He is the son of Rubin and Rozella Russell Lambert. He grew up in Montana and was a cowboy and ranch hand. He served with the army overseas during WWI. Retired Deputy Sheriff from Jefferson County, Idaho and was a Bellingham resident for the past 12 years. He was a member of the Leisure Time Group. He was preceded in death Sept. this year by his wife Sylvia Kendell Lambert. Surviving children include daughter Mildred Crow, Kaysville, Utah; Rosalee Avery, Idaho Falls and son David Lambert, Newburg Oregon. LAMBERT, Everett E., of Laurel, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2004. He was 80 years old. Everett was born on November 24, 1923 in Jamestown, Arkansas to James and Nola Lambert. He served for about 30 years in the armed forces, in the Army during the Korean War and in the Navy during WWII. Everett's military duties included being stationed on a ship during the attack on Pearl Harbor. He is survived by his wife, Florence Lambert; daughters Bobbie Almaham and Laurie Applegate; son Jim Elliot; and several nieces, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. LAMBERT, Josephine Agnes, 63, of 4000 Flynn St., died Thursday, (July 28, 1988) in a Bellingham hospital. Private memorial services were held Friday at Jones Funeral Home. The remains were to be cremated and the ashes buried at Bayview Cemetery. Mrs. Lambert was born Jan. 27, 1925, in Ohio, and had been a Bellingham resident since 1953. LAMBERT, Raymond L. - Visitation for Raymond L. Lambert of Bellingham will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Nooksack Valley Baptist Church in Everson, followed by burial in Sumas Cemetery. Mr. Lambert died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at his home. He was 72. Born June 21, 1927, to Reuben and Inez (Baker) Lambert in Sumas, he had been a lifetime Whatcom County resident and grew up in Sumas. Mr. Lambert served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On May 1, 1954, he married Wilma Gile in Lynden. She died in 1993. Mr. Lambert worked as a mechanic and then worked in the logging industry before becoming an ironworker for 22 years through Ironworkers Local 505 of Bellingham. Mr. Lambert was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1585 and American Legion, Albert J. Hamilton Post No. 7 of Bellingham. He enjoyed camping and golf. He was preceded in death by his brother Melvin Lambert. Survivors include son Roy R. Lambert of Juneau, Alaska daughters Tammy Bring of Bellingham and Gladys "Andy" Gates of Ferndale sisters Irene Weidkamp of Lynden and Bernice Greenfield of Aloha, Ore. two grandchildren two great-grandchildren and many other relatives.
LAMBERT, Ruth Wilma of 101 Emerson Road, Everson, passed away early Thursday morning, Nov. 29, 1990 at her home, following a short illness. She was 69. Mrs. Lambert was born on Oct. 8, 1921, a daughter of John and Muriel (Mahurin) Pyatt. She was married to Cecil Lambert on Nov. 12, 1938 in Van Buren, Mo. and together they came to Everson in 1944. Ruth loved flowers and had quite a special "green thumb". She was a homemaker who is survived by her husband of 52 years, Cecil of the family home; her son, Wayne Lambert and his wife Gloria of Bellingham; her sister, Irene Crocker of Salem, Mo.; her brother Loyed Pyatt of St. Louis; three grandchildren and numerous other relatives. She was preceded in death by three infant children in the early 1940s; Shirley Mae, Barbara Sue and Billy Leo. Funeral services were held in the chapel of Gillies Funeral Home on Tuesday with Rev. She was a member of Veteran of Foreign Wars #1585 in Bellingham and its Drill Team, the Whatcom County Museum, D.U.P.I. Garden Club, Friends of the Library, Senior Trail Blazers, Skagit Valley Gleaners, and Grace Community Church in Bellingham. Besides her husband Ray of the family home; Wilma is survived by son Roy R. Lambert of Juneau, Alaska; two daughter, Gladys "Andy" Gates of Ferndale and Tammy and husband Jim Bring of Bellingham; two granddaughters; eight brothers, Weldon Gile of Vancouver, Wendall Gile of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Willard Gile of Toppenish, Wayne Gile of Renton, Wallace Gile of Bremerton, Charles Gile of Everson, Lee Gile of Woodland, Calif. and Harold Gile of Lynnwood; three sisters, Shirley Simonson of Everson, Phoebe Mason of Ruthven, Iowa and Mildred Kunz of Emmetsburg, Iowa, and numerous other relatives. LAMBRIGHT, John B. - A memorial service for John B. "Jack" Lambright, 72, of 4023 Mayne Lane, Ferndale, will [be] at 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Everett, at the corner of Pacific and Wetmore streets. Mr. Lambright died Tuesday (June 11, 1991) at St. Joseph Hospital after a long illness. He was born Feb. 16, 1919 to Ralph and Susan Lambright of Lake Stevens. He attended school in Granite Falls, where he became a charter member of the Lions Club. He served in the Army with the 41st Division Field Artillery. Mr. Lambright fished commercially for 37 years in Washington and Southeast Alaska. He later became the skipper of the yacht Mixer, out of Mercer Island. He was a member of Laborers Union No. 292 and of the First Baptist Church in Bellingham. He and the former Eloise M. Long were married 50 years ago. The couple lived in Everett 48 years, and had lived in Ferndale since 1988. Mrs. Long (sic) survives at the family home. Other survivors include a son, Jim Lambright of Stanwood; a daughter, Sue Larson of Goldendale; a brother, Robert Lambright of Sparks, Nev.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. LAMKIN, Emma L., aged 73 years, passed away at a local hospital, Friday, December 15, (1939) following a short illness. Miss Lamkin's home is at 617 Twenty-first Street, and she had been a resident here for the past thirty-six years. Deceased was a member of the Unitarian Church and leaves as survivors two brothers, Jessie J. and Willis B. Lamkin, of this city. The remains are resting at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. James E. Milligan, Tuesday, December 19 at 3 p.m. Interment will be made in Bay View Cemetery.
LAMKIN, Jesse "Jay" 617 Twenty-first street, well-known South Bellingham transferman, passed away Monday (Jan. 6, 1941) after a long illness. He was 69 years of age and had resided in Bellingham thirty-seven years. He is survived by his brother, Willis B., city, and two cousins in Seattle. Funeral services will be conducted at the Harlow-Hollingsworth chapel Thursday at 3 p.m. by the Rev. James M. Wilson. Interment will follow in the Bay View cemetery. For many years the Lamkin brothers, "Billy and Jay" were familiar figures in their horse drawn transfer wagon. Later they purchased a truck. Illness and advancing age forced them to retire a few years ago. In the early days, the brothers, both bachelors, made their living by growing and peddling vegetables. They lived with a sister, Emily, who died about a year ago. Since then Willis has resided in a home for aged persons on Knox avenue, Jesse having been confined to a hospital.
LAMKIN, Willis B. - The death of Willis B. Lamkin, pioneer transfer man of this city who with his brother once operated a horse and cart delivery service on the South side, occurred Friday morning (Dec. 18, 1946) in a local hospital. No immediate survivors are known. The remains rest at the Harlow-Hollingsworth funeral home where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, conducted by Elder J. A. Gordon of the Seventh Day Adventist church. Interment will take place in Bay View cemetery.

Mr. Lamm had been a resident of this community all of his life, except for four years when he lived at Alger, was a millworker for Bloedel-Donovan Co., and was a past president of F.O.E. LaMONT, Allen R., 52, a resident o Knoxville, Md., who was graduated in 1956 from Bellingham High School, died on cancer on Friday in a Maryland hospital. Mr. LaMont was born on Sept. 20, 1938 in Munising, Mich. He was married to his wife, Hester Sue, for more than 33 years. Mr. LaMont left the Bellingham area in 1973. He was a senior shift foreman for eastalco in Frederick, Md. He had served in the U.S. Navy and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Survivors in addition to his wife include: sons, Roger LaMont of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., and Steve LaMont of Knoxville; daughter Mary Roop of Knoxville; parents Louis and Alice LaMont of Bellingham; brother Lou LaMont of Bellingham; sister Deanna Watson of Bellingham; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. LAMONT, Edna Peck, age 78, of 515 Myrtle Street, passed away in a local hospital Saturday, Oct. 20, (1956). Mrs. Lamont had resided in this community for the past 39 years, was a member of the Daughters of the Union Veterans and of the League of Women Voters. Surviving relatives include one son, Richard L. Lamont; two grandchildren, Richard Ross Lamont and Gordon Stuart Lamont all of Bellingham. LAMONT, Elinor J., age 82, passed away on October 16, 2003. She was born on May 24, 1921 in Vancouver, B.C., Canada to Ross and Beulah Shields. Elinor initially attended school in British Columbia, but eventually graduated from Bellingham High School in 1939. She then attended Bellingham Beauty School and spent some time working there and also taught there. Elinor married Richard L. Lamont on October 5, 1940. She was a homemaker while her children were in school, but then returned to work as a bookkeeper at Hardware Sales for 20 years. Elinor was active in the Eastern Star and Women of the Moose. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge and pinochle. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, who passed away on September 10, 2000 brother Gordon Shields and sister Barbara Kirk. Elinor is survived by her sons Rick Lamont of Burlington and Gordon Lamont and wife Kathi of Bellingham four grandchildren eight great-grandchildren sister Nancy Neisinger and her husband Robert of Aberdeen brother-in-law Wendell Kirk of Buckley and numerous nieces and nephews. A private family service will be held at Greenacres|Moles Cemetery on October 23, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. The family invites you to join them at the Moose Lodge, 1761 W. Bakerview Rd., Bellingham, WA for refreshments and sharing at 3:30 p.m. on October 23, 2003.

He was born April 7, 1943 in Seattle. He lived in Anacortes since 1948 and graduated from Anacortes High School in 1961. He was owner of Ross's Carpet Cleaning Service. He lived in Bellingham since 1963. Survived by his wife, Gloria and 2 step sons, Gregg and Ross Steed at the family home; 2 sons, Gary and Kevin Lamont of Manchester, Wa.; parents, Willis and Helen Kaupp and a sister Kathryn Schlecht of Bellingham; 1 aunt, Mrs. L. La MONT, Louis Joseph, age 65 years, of 1015 Forest, passed away at a local hopital Sunday, June 15, (1952) following a lingering illness. Mr. La Mont was a member of the Church of the Assumption. He is survived by his wife, Margurite La Mont; three sons, Louis Jr. in Bellingham; Benjamin, in Wisconsin, James, in Michigan; five daughters, Mrs. Marie Hill, of Bellingham, Mrs. Yuanita Passinault, Mrs. Margurite Worthington, Mrs. Muriel Fell, all of Michigan; one sister, Mrs. Sylda Loomis, also of Michigan; one brother, Napoleon La Mont, of Shelton, Wash., and 16 grandchildren. LAMONT, Richard L. - A memorial service for Richard L. Lamont of Bellingham will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Jones-Moles Funeral Home. Mr. Lamont died at home Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000. He was 81. Born May 15, 1919, to Richard and Edna (Peck) Lamont in Bellingham, he was a lifetime Bellingham resident. Mr. Lamont attended Fairhaven High School until it burned down, and graduated from Bellingham High School in 1937. On Oct. 5, 1940, he married Elinor Shields. Mr. Lamont worked for more than 20 years in the maritime industry, including working for local ferries The Osage and The Chickawana. He also served aboard fishing boats to Alaska and served as captain for Bellingham Tug and Barge, and later for Foss Tugs. He later worked in real estate until his retirement in 1983. Mr. Lamont was a former worshipful master of Fairhaven Lodge F&AM and was a member of Scottish Rite Bodies. He also was active in Moose Lodge No. 493 and served in many capacities at the state level, where he served as honorary past state president of the Washington State Moose Association. He had a passionate love of the sea. Survivors include his wife, of the family home sons Gordon Lamont of Bellingham and Rick Lamont of Burlington four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She graduated from Everett High School in 1956, attended Everett Community College and was a secretary at Boeing for several years before starting her family. Sandra was a member of the L.D.S. Church, was active in Ryther Children's Services, and the Northridge Community Club. Mrs. Lamoreaux was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. LAMOUREAUX, Loren E., 67, of Bellingham died suddenly Saturday, Jan. 22, 1994 at the family home. He was born March 6, 1926 in Bellingham to Lorenzo and Opal Lamoureaux and was a lifetime resident of Whatcom County. Loren graduated in 1944 from Mt. Baker High school. He entered the Army Air Corp as an airplane mechanic and radio operator after high school. Following the military he returned to the family farm where he was a dairy and beef farmer. Loren spent a large portion of his life in volunteer fire service. He was a founding member of Whatcom County Volunteer Fire District 4 and served various positions, including chief and later a commissioner, up until his death. He was a member of the American Legion Post 7. He is survived by a brother, Jack Lamoureaux and wife Trudy of Bellingham; two nephews, Bill Lamoureaux of Bellingham and Steve Lamoureaux and wife Susan of Bellingham; grand-niece Michelle Lamoureaux and grand-nephew Brandon Lamoureaux. A memorial will be held from 3-9 p.m. Thursday where friends are welcome to drop in at the Lamoureaux home, 5420 Dinkel Road, Bellingham for a remembrance time. Arrangements are under the care of Westford Funeral Home.
LAMOUREAUX, John L., 86, of 5709 Sand Road, Bellingham, died Thursday, March 10, 1994 in Bellingham following a brief illness. He was born Sept. 6, 1907 to Olin D. and Frances O. Lamoureaux and has been a lifetim resident of the Everson area. He hauled milk for Darigold, worked at Bellingham Shipyard during World War II, worked in auto repair ships (sic) and was with Brook's Lumber until his retirement. He was interested in livestock and farming until he became ill. He was a member of Goshen Grange and past member of the Mechanics Union and Lumber and Sawmill Workers Union. He is survived by his wife, Esther Lamouoreaux of Bellingham; daughter Jean and husband Jack Spalding; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marlene Lamoureaux. A graveside service was held Tuesday at Ten Mile Cemetery, followed by a memorial services at Jerns LeVeck Funeral Chapel in Bellingham. Arrangements were under the care of Jerns LeVeck Funeral Chapel.
LAMOUREAUX, Lorenzo Odin, age 54 years, of Route No. 1, Everson, passed away suddenly Thursday, October 8, (1948) in a local hospital following a short illness. Mr. Lamoureaux had spent his entire life in this community and was a veteran of World War I. Mr. Lamoreux had been a resident of the county for fifty years and at one time served as mayor of Ferndale. LAMOSITELE, Tauvalea, age 75, passed away April 7, 2006 at home in Bellingham. She was born Nov 29, 1930 in Samoa to Titi and Faaea Lamositele. Tauvalea was a school teacher for many years and retired in 1985. Following her retirement, she moved to the United States to be with her children. She loved her family and her church. Tauvalea enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing and watching the Seattle Mariners. She was preceded in death by her husband Liu Laasauga in 1971. She is survived by son Aliva Laau (wife Lumepa) of Anaheim, CA; daughters Valasi Afamasaga (husband Asiasi) of Kirkland, WA; Amada Soo (husband Fala) of Bellingham; Tauta Sauni of Samoa, Tautau Lamositele of Bellingham; brothers Faalia Auvaa (wife Vaitoa), Faamalosi Lamositele and Silia Lamositele (wife Leleai) all of Samoa and sister Fotu Masipau of Samoa; 12 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Visitation with family present will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Fri. April 14 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Sat April 15 at 10 a.m. followed by a Samoan Cultural Reception across the street at Westford's Broadway Hall. Rev. LAMP, Ruth Catherine, 1275 Thalen Drive, Lynden, passed away at her home on Saturday, Dec. 11, 1993 at the age of 66. A graveside service will be held in Calverton National Cemetery in Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y. on Thursday. Mrs. Lamp was born in Bellrose, N.Y. on June 10, 1927, a daughter of Nichols and Lillian Gimmler Schaudel. She lived her entire life in New York, where she met and married her husband Orval Lamp on April 7, 1946. Mr. Lamp passed away in 1980. Ruth came to Lynden to be near her son in the fall of 1992. Survivors include her son Albert Lamp and wife Jennifer of Lynden; daughter Karen Raymond and husband Mike of New York; sister Mae Hill and husband Roy of Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.; and four grandchildren. LAMPHIER, Alfred L., age 80, of 4915 Samish Way, Bellingham, passed away Sunday May 24, 1992, at home. He was born Jan. 10, 1912 in Pt. Roberts, WA to Alfred and Agnes Lamphier and was a lifetime resident of Whatcom County. Mr. Lamphier was a fisherman from 1935 until 1962; a shipwright; and longtime member of the shipwright's union. He married Isabelle Garvin in Pt. Roberts, WA on Jan. 10, 1948. Survived by his wife Isabelle of the family home; sister, Alma Giaconi of Bellingham; brother Raymond Lamphier of Bellingham; daughter-in-law, Teri Lamphier of Conway; 3 grandchildren, Tony, Lisa, and Marcie Lamphier of Conway; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his son Allen Lamphier in 1986. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 28, 1-5 p.m. and Friday, May 29, 8:30-1:30 p.m. at Greenacres Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, May 29, 1:30 p.m. in Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Enterprise Cemetery in Ferndale. Officiating will be Chaplain Harold Minkler. He had been a pioneer in that district for 45 years. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Olive Jones, of Sitka, Alaska, Mrs. Winnie Wilson, of Ladner, B.C., Mrs. Alice Anderson, of Point Roberts, and Mrs. Alma Chase, of Bellingham; two sons, Alfred Lamphier, of Point Roberts, and Ray Lamphier, of Bellingham; twenty-three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three sister, Sofie Brinkman, of Seattle, Mrs. Celia Garrett, of LaConner, Wash., Mrs. Myrtle Johnson, of Minnesota; three brothers, Wayne and Jay, of Anacortes, and Ernest, of Seattle; several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Thursday afternoon, November 17, at 1:30 p.m. in the Point Roberts Church with the Rev. Arthur Hanson officiating. Interment will be in the Point Roberts Cemetery under the direction of McKinney Funeral Home in Blaine.
LAMPHIER, Allen W. - Funeral services for Allen W. Lamphier, age 31 of 1419 29th St., Anacortes, will be Thurs. May 29, at 10:30 a.m. at Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Francis, Calvary Temple, officiating. Interment Enterprise Cemetery. Mr. Lamphier passed away Mon., May 26, 1986. LAMPHIER, Isabelle, formerly of Bellingham, WA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 21, 2005, in Blaine. She was 87, born on May 13, 1918 in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, to Janet G. (Provan) and William J. Garvin. Isabelle married Alfred Lamphier in 1948 in Point Roberts. They moved to Bellingham in the early 1960s. She was preceded in death by her son, Allen Wayne Lamphier in 1986, husband Alfred in 1992, and sisters Janet Campfield and Bethia McCauley. Isabelle is survived by her brother Doug Garvin, of Chilliwack and sister Eileen Moulton of Langley, B.C.; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26 at Enterprise Cemetery. Jones|Moles Funeral Home.

Surrounded by family, she lived most of her adult life in Bellingham. She died August 22, 2003. She was 77 years old. She is survived by her loving husband Ray of 44 years her daughters Kathy Bartok of Seattle and Lynda Lamphier of Bellingham, son Steve Halterman of Bellingham, daughters Janice Klein of Everson, Dianna MacLeod of Blaine and Renee Rimer of Bellingham, step-children: Doug Lamphier of Sedro-Woolley, Dennis Lamphier of Blaine and Denise Christiansen of Missoula, MT; 24 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren four brothers: Harold, Larry, Gilbert and Jimmy and one sister, Connie of Oregon. Everyone that knew mom was blessed with her strength and generosity. The center of our world, she held the family together through all our ups and downs and personal dramas. She gave us the vision to see and appreciate what really matters - family. Her artistic nature came to life in the gardens she created and the gift of love she passed on to her children. Witness to a rare beauty that gave and gave and gave, we strive to move towards that model but never quite grasp it. She is loved and missed beyond measure. A private family service will be held. Mrs. Lampman had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past 83 years. Survivors include her husband, George and one daughter, Mrs. Wave Verkist, of Bellingham. One son, Dean, of Bellingham; five grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Orval March of Anacortes. Two brothers, Charles Smith, of Bellingham and Bert Smith of Camano Island. Christian Science services will be read in the Monroe Funeral Chapel of Ferndale, Wednesday, October 3, at 1:30 p.m., followed by cremation.
LAMPMAN, Carrie Vera - Memorial services for Unity Church member Carrie Vera Lampman, 93, of Bellingham, will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Unity Church, with the Rev. Peter Rhea officiating. Miss Lampman died Tuesday (July 26, 1988) in Bellingham. She was born Feb. 8, 1895 in Tuscola Mich., and, as a young woman, moved to California with her mother. She did secretarial work there, until about 35 years ago, when she moved to Bellingham to become a companion to a relative living alone. She was active in Women of Unity, a church organization. Survivors include four cousins, Wave Verkist and Dean Lampman, both of Bellingham, Ruth Hughbanks of Seattle and Frank Lampman of Houston, Texas. Arrangements are by Westford Funeral Home.

He was born May 21, 1911 in Blaine, WA to George & Alice (Smith) Lampman. Graduating from Ferndale High School he married Ernestine Dickerson on July 31, 1937 in Marietta, WA. He has been a life resident of Whatcom County and was past president of the Fairhaven Lions Club, past Master of Pierre B. Cornwall Lodge #289, F&AM, past president of the Unity Church Board where he was a member. Mr. Lampman was a builder, enjoyed singing and gardening and owned the Seven Spot Drive-In. Preceded in death by his sister, Wave Verkist in Jan. 1997. Survived by his wife, Ernestine; son, D. Michael & wife Carol Lampman of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Dean & wife Sue Lampman of Mesa, AZ, Traci & husband Tim Kohler of Mt. View, CA; Michelle Reynolds of Bellingham; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Wed., April 30, 1997, 2:00 p.m. at Unity Church with Rev. Peter Rhea, officiating. LAMPMAN, Frank R., age 65 years, passed away at a local hospital Tuesday, November 27, (1945) following a long illness. Mr. Lampman came to Bellingham in 1929 and was a night foreman of the Composing Room of The Bellingham Herald for many years and proof reader until his retirement two years ago. He was a member of the Typographical Union Local 355. His survivors include the widow, Mrs. Ethel M. Lampman of 210 Grand Avenue; two sons, Philip H., Bellingham, Frank D., now at the University of Washington, both recently discharged from the armed forces; one brother Elmer J., Battle Creek, Mich.; one nephew, Verne Fuller, Portland, Ore.; one niece in Texas, and two cousins, George D. Lampman and Mrs. Ruby Quilette, Bellingham. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by Rev. James M. Wilson, Friday, November 30 at 4 p.m. Cremation.
LAMPMAN, George Dean, age 89, well known Whatcom County Pioneer, passed away in a local hospital Thursday, April 6th, (1961). Mr. Lampman was born in Carlyle, Eaton County, Michigan, September 5, 1871. He came west to the town of Fairhaven 58 years ago and settled in Blaine where he was owner of a barber shop for a number of years. In 1905 he was united in marriage to Alice Smith, whose parents had homesteaded in the Mt. View district in 1873. For the greater part of his life he and his wife farmed a portion of that homestead and it was there their three children grew to manhood and womanhood. He was an active trustee of the Old Settlers Association; was a former member of the Whatcom County Dairymen's Association and of the Western Farmers Association. He is survived by a daughter, Wave Verkist, a son, Dean Lampman and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted from the Moles' Monroe Funeral Home in Ferndale Saturday, April 8, at 1:30 p.m., Rev. Carl Calhoun officiating.
LAMPMAN, Lloyd G., Captain, age 37 years, of 9840 40th Southwest, Seattle, lost his life in an airplane crash Tuesday, November 7, (1950). Captain Lampman had been a resident of this community his entire life. He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge, F. & A.M., No. 151. He had been a pilot for Northwest Airlines for the past 10 years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. June R. Lampman, and a son, Randy, at home. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Lampman, Kline Road, city, a sister, Mrs. Wave Verkist, city, and many other relatives. Christian Science services will be read Thursday, November 16, at 2 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home. Interment, Greenacres Memorial Park.
LAMSMA, Hendrik, 82, of 211 S. 14th St. Lynden died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 1994, at home. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden. Burial will be at 1:15 p.m. Saturday in Monumenta Cemetery. A funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church with the Rev. Jerry Van Groningen officiating. Mr. Lamsma was born to Iebele and Anna (Hulsof) Lamsma on April 7, 1912, in Friesland, Netherlands. He married Takela Deinema on Dec. 9, 1942. The family moved to the Seattle area in 1959, where he worked as a baker for several bakeries, the last few years for Albertson's. In 1985, he and his wife moved to Lynden from Monroe. He was a member of the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Lynden. He was preceded in death by son Henry Lamsma in 1992. Survivors include his wife of the family home; sons Frank Lamsma of Kingston and John Lamsma of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sister Zus Tamminga of the Netherlands; nine grandchildren, and several other relatives.
LAMSMA, Henry, Rev., 49, of Oak Lawn, Ill., passed away Dec. 31, 1992. A memorial service was held at Kedvale Christian Reformed Church -- where Lamsma was pastor -- in Oak Lawn with Dr. Joel Nederhood and Rev. Gary Hutt officiating. Burial was held Jan. 5 at Evergreen Cemetery in Oak Lawn. Lamsma was born in 1943 in the Netherlands. He attended Calvin College, where he met Eleanor Heusinkveld of Lynden. They graduated from Calvin College and were married in Lynden. Survivors include his wife Eleanor and sons Matthew, Darren and Bret of the family home; parents Hendrick and Tekela Lamsma of Lynden; two brothers, John of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Frank of Kingstown; and mother-in-law Ann Heusinkveld of Lynden.
