KEADY, Julia E., age 80 of 2185 Seamount Drive, Ferndale, passed away Sunday, September 26, 1982. Miss Keady had been a resident of Ferndale for about 7 years and is survived by a niece, Theresa Schemel of Everett. Mass of Christian burial will be offered by Father Jack Buchalew Wednesday, September 29 at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Moles Funeral Home.

KEAGLE, Edith Sparnon, age 85, of 2416 Utter St., passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, Aug. 21, (1957). Mrs. Keagle had been a 56-year resident of this community, was a member of the First Christian Church, a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member and past president of the World War I Mothers Club of the Legion. Surviving relatives are two daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Gilmore and Mrs. Mabel Smethurst of Bellingham, and one son, Carroll Keagle of Boise, Idaho, also seven grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. The remains rest at Jones' Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Rev. Walter Naff, Friday, Aug. 23, at 1 p.m. Final resting place, Bay View.

KEAGLE, John Kenneth, age 46 years, of 809 Thirteenth Street, passed away suddenly at the family home Friday, April 3, (1953). Mr. Keagle had been a lifetime resident of Bellingham and was employed by the Puget Sound Power & Light Co. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post No. 1385. Mr. Keagle is survived by his wife, Margaret B.; one step-son, Michael Edwards, at home; one brother George, of this city; and several nieces and nephews in Yakima. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 6, at 3 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold K. Lawrence, of St. James Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment, Bay View Cemetery.

KEAGLE, Margaret B., age 92 of Bellingham, died on November 13, 2003. She was a long-time educator in the Bellingham Public Schools. She began her teaching career at Lowell School and later served as principal of Lowell, Larrabee, Roeder, and Happy Valley Schools during her administrative career. She was the first principal of Happy Valley School. She finished her service in education on the staff at Western Washington University supervising student teachers. Margaret was an active member of the community and served in a number of positions in the Soroptimists, Aftermath Club, Toast Mistresses, and St. James Presbyterian Church. Margaret and her family are thankful for the friendships and kindness we have experienced in Bellingham. She had fond memories of growing up on a ranch in Montana, and she joined a writing group to develop her skills in recording those memories. The result was a collection of stories that she compiled into a book for members of her family. Her son Michael Edwards; daughter-in-law Pat; 2 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren survive her. She will be remembered as a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and aunt. The family will hold a private celebration of life.

KEAGLE, Sarah Elizabeth, age 83, of 809 Thirteenth Street, passed away at the family home late Thursday, December 7, (1950) following a short illness. Mrs. Keagle had been a resident of Bellingham the past 51 years. She was a member of the O. E. S., Maple Leaf Chapter, the St. James Presbyterian Church and the Whatcom County Pioneer Association. Surviving relatives include two son, John K., and George W., both of Bellingham; two grandchildren, Miss Rosemary Kaylor and Richard Kaylor, both of Yakima; a sister, Mrs. Clara Mabery, of Manhattan Beach, Calif. Services will be conducted Monday, December 11, at 2 p. m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles W. Muir, pastor of the St. James Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment in Bay View Cemetery.

KEAN, Anna Cline, age 67 of Ferndale passed away suddenly Sunday, March 8th (1959) at a local hospital. Mrs. Kean had been a resident of Ferndale the past 42 years. She is a member of the United Church of Ferndale, Kulshan Unit American Legion Auxiliary, Activity Rebekah Lodge, PNG Club and the Ann Washington Chapter DAR of Mount Vernon. She leaves to survive one son, Thomas Kean of Rt. 1, Blaine; 4 sisters, Mrs. Edith Sickler of Burlington; Mrs. Robert Farmer of Chula Vista, California; Mrs. Bruce Cameron and Mrs. Dick Frets, both of Mount Vernon; one brother, Mr. A. E. Doolittle of Bellingham; 3 grandchildren; numerous other relatives. The remains will lie in state until funeral services are conducted Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Monroe Funeral Chapel in Ferndale with Rev. Robert Irwin officiating. Final resting place Greenacres. The family would appreciate memorials to the Heart Fund.

KEAN, Gem E., age 87, of 1801 I St., passed away in a local rest home Wednesday, Oct. 26, (1960). Mrs. Kean had been a resident of this community for the past 59 years; was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and a member of Maple Leaf Chapter No. 17, O.E.S. Surviving relatives are many nieces and nephews including Mrs. Charles Boden and Charles Hyde, both of Bellingham. The remains will lie in state at the Jones Funeral Home. Private services will be conducted at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Monday, Oct. 31, at 9:30 a. m., the Rev. Fr. W. Robert Webb, pastor, officiating. Cremation.

KEAN, George W., age 70 years, of Ferndale, passed away suddenly at his home Friday, Feb. 6, (1959). Mr. Kean had been a resident of Ferndale for the past 42 years and was a partner-owner of Kean's Store in Ferndale. He was also employed for many years by the Carnation Co. He was a member of B.P.O.Elks Lodge No. 194. Surviving relatives include his wife Anna; one son, Tom of Rt. 1, Blaine; two sisters, Mrs. Harry Binzer of Bellingham and Mrs. Dorothy Aves of Yakima; one brother, James P. Kean of Mount Vernon; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The remains will be in state until Monday Feb 9th when services will be conducted at 1:30 P. M. by officers of the Elks Lodge No. 194 at the Monroe Funeral Chapel in Ferndale. Final resting place Greenacres.

KEARNEY, Frank Joseph died Saturday, Jan. 25, 1997, at Alderwood Park Convalescent Center. He was 83. A private service will be held. Born July 6, 1913, to Michael and Mary Crilley Kearney in Butte, Mont., he was a lifelong Whatcom County resident. A Whatcom High School graduate, Mr. Kearney worked as a laboratory technician for the Bellingham Cement Plant and as a janitor for Bellingham School District. He also was assistant golf pro at Bellingham Golf & Country Club. Mr. Kearney enjoyed steelhead fishing. He was a baseball fan and a member of the Church of the Assumption. He was preceded in death by brothers Leo and Patrick Kearney. Survivors include brother Tom Kearney of Bellingham, sisters Doris Unger of Forest Grove, Ore., and Loretta Spickelmire of Port Ludlow and numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements are by Westford Funeral Home.

KEARNEY, Michael, age 61 years, beloved husband of Mrs. Mary Kearney, 2324 Cornwall, passed away at a hospital in Seattle, Sunday, February 24, (1946) following a lingering illness. Mr. Kearney had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 20 years and was a member of the Church of the Assumption. Surviving relatives include, beside the widow, three sons, Frank, Leo and Tommie, all at home; two daughters, Loretta, at home and Mrs. Doris Unger, of Sherwood, Oregon; one sister, Mrs. Lillian Cummings, Vancouver, B. C.; other sisters in England; also three grandchildren. The remains are resting at the Bingham-Dahlquist Funeral Home. Rosary will be said within the Church of Assumption Tuesday, February 26, at 7:30 p. m. Requiem mass will be celebrated within the church for the repose of the soul, Wednesday, February 27, at 9 a.m. with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. G. Stafford, celebrant. Interment, Bay View Cemetery.

KEARNEY, Michael - A Mass of Christian burial for Michael "Leo" Kearney of Everson will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at Assumption Catholic Church with the Rev. Jim Lee officiating. Mr. Kearney died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 1994, at home. He was 61. Born Feb. 14, 1933 to Michael and Mary Kearney in Bellingham, he attended Bellingham schools and worked as a custodian at Fairhaven Middle School. He retired from the Bellingham School District after 35 years as manager of buildings and grounds. He married Jean Matty on Jan. 14, 1956 in Bellingham. He was a member of the Elks Club and the Knights of Columbus. He was an usher at St. Joseph Catholic Church and later became a member of Assumption Church. Mr. Kearney enjoyed traveling, yard work and gardening, and he loved animals, including his dog Cindy. He was preceded in death by brother Patrick Kearney. Survivors include his wife of the family home; sons Michael Kearney and Jerry Kearney, both of Bellingham, and Joel Davis of Denver; daughter Karla DeVries of Bellingham; sisters Doris Under of Forest Grove, Ore., and Loretta Speckelmire of Port Ludlow; brothers Frank Kearney and Tom Kearney, both of Bellingham; six grandchildren; and numerous other relatives. KEARNEY, Richard Avon, age 55, passed away at the family home Saturday, May 1, (1948). Mr. Kearney had been a resident of this community for the past three years and was a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans. Surviving relatives are the widow, Marie, at home; one daughter, Mrs. Betty Petersen, of Bellingham; one sister, Mrs. Maude Attinger, of Livingston, Mont., and one half-brother, Charles Jensen, also of Livingston, Mont. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. Harlan R. Stone and officers of the Disabled American Veterans, Tuesday, May 4, at 3 p.m. Final resting place, Greenacres Memorial Park.

KEARNEY, Thomas Edward, of Bellingham died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1997, in Bellingham. He was 61. He was born Jan. 25, 1936, to Michael and Mary (Crilly) Kearney and had been a lifelong Whatcom County resident. Survivors include his sisters, Loretta Spickelmire of Port Ludlow and Doris Unger of Forest Grove, Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Interment will be at Bayview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Greenacres Funeral Home.

KEATON, Zelma E., age 79, of Ferndale, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2003, in Bellingham. She was born October 21, 1923, in Lincoln, NE. A graveside service will be held Friday, July 11, 1 p.m. at Greenacres|Moles Cemetery with Pastor Mike Rody officiating.

KECK, Anna Marie - Visitation for Anna Marie Keck of Bellingham will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Gillies Funeral Home. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Monumenta Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at Calvary Temple with the Rev. Richard Strum officiating. Born Aug. 26, 1927, to Lambert and Lena Lankhaar Combee in Lynden, she attended schools there. She married Jesse Keck on Aug. 26, 1955, in Lynden. In the 1960s, Mrs. Keck moved to Bellingham. She worked for the Bellingham School District and Quality Drapery and as a housekeeper. She was a member of Calvary Temple and enjoyed woodworking. Mrs. Keck was preceded in death by sister Leona Workman in 1992. Survivors include her husband of the family home; daughters Nalene Ferry of Bellingham and Penny Beard of Reno, Nev.; sisters Jenny Newell of Bellingham, Dena Fishbourne of Lynden and Mary Ann Campbell of Salem, Ore.; four grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

KEEFE, Michael R., age 19 of 521 Linden Road, passed away suddenly Sunday, July 12, (1964). He was a student at the Bellingham Technical School. He leaves to survive his parents, Lt. Colonel and Mrs. Rono Keefe; 1 brother, Randall, at home; 1 sister, Mrs. James VanBuren of Port Campbell, Kentucky; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Morris of Independence, Kansas. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 14, at 11:00 a.m. in the Bay View Cemetery with Rev. Hugh Cantelon officiating under the direction of Westford Funeral Home.

KEEHN, Edward Charles, age 84, of 1301 W. Holly Street, passed away in a local sanitarium Dec. 11, (1961). A retired marine engineer, Mr. Keehn was a 40-year resident of Bellingham; life member of B.P.O.E. No. 194; past member of Marine Engineers, and Beneficial Assn. Local No. 38, Seattle. Survivors are three sons, James L. Keehn, Long Beach, Calif.; Dewey E. Keehn, Seattle, Joseph Keehn; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Lelah Washburn, Auburn; one brother, William Keehn of Nebraska. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted Thursday, Dec. 14, at 10:30 a. m. by the Rev. Gordon E. Crider, followed by ritualistic services by the officers of the B.P.O. Elks No. 194. Final resting place, Bay View.

KEEHN, Joseph C., age 67, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Oct. 11, (1975). Mr. Keehn had resided in Texas for the past 25 years, he was educated & raised in Bellingham and was with the Merchant Marines for 48 years. He is a retired member of the National Maritime Union. He leaves to survive 1 brother James L. Keehn of Lynden, several nieces and nephews. Committal services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 2:30 p.m. at Bay View Cemetery under the direction of the Westford Funeral Home.

KEEHN, Mary L., who residence was 2805 Elm St., passed away in a local hospital Sunday, March 28, (1954) following a lingering illness, at the age of 70 years. She is survived by her husband, Edward Keehn; three sons, Dewey Earl of Seattle, Joe C. of New Orleans, James L. of Bellingham; one daughter, Mrs. Lelah Felisiano of Bellingham; one step-brother, William Ewing of Bellingham; one stepsister, Mrs. Mable Tollissen of Sedro Woolley; also nine grandchildren. Requiem Low Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, March 31, at 10 a. m. within the Sacred Heart Church, under the direction of the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home. Interment, Bay View.

KEEHN, Shawn Patrick, 27, of Lynden, passed away Thursday, March 22, 1990 in Seattle. He was born Oct. 27, 1962 in Seattle. He moved to Whatcom County in 1971, having lived in Seattle. He graduated from Ferndale High School in 1981. He is survived by his mother Carol McShan and husband Arthur of Blaine, and his father David Keehn of Ferndale. He also leaves two sisters, Rachel Wydur of Ferndale, Shelley Keehn of Acme; one son Christopher Keehn of Trenton, Fla.; a grandmother, Georgia Crow of Seattle; and his fiancee, Diana Kirkham. Also surviving re one uncle, Richard Crow of Seattle; three aunts, Beverly Gordon, Jackie Adler and Diana McDonald all of Seattle; one great uncle James Keehn of Everson and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside services were held Tuesday, March 27, at 2 p.m. in Greenacres Memorial Park with Rev. Donald Walter officiating. Arrangements by Greenacres Funeral Home.

KEEL, Thomas H., age 77, of Doe Bay passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, October 16, (1946). Mr. Keel had been a resident of that community for the past 32 years and leaves to survive the widow, Norma M.; two sons, John and William, all at home, and three half sisters in Michigan. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth and will be forwarded to Allegan, Michigan, for services and interment.

KELLAR, Gilbert Jacob, who until two years ago was a painter and decorator, died Friday afternoon (June 16, 1933) at his home, 1602 Twelfth street, aged 69 years. He had lived here twenty-seven years. Mr. Kellar is survived by his widow, Mrs. Hattie L. Kellar; one son, Harold R. Kellar, Bellingham; one daughter, Mrs. Nina Floyd, Battleground, Wash., and two sisters, Mrs. Mercy Bearup and Mrs. Nettie Larson, New York state. Rev. James M. Wilson will officiate at funeral services at the Harlow-Hollingsworth funeral home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Cremation will follow.

KEELER, Amelia M., age 78, of Route No. 5, Bellingham, passed away in a local hospital, Monday, December 5, (1949). Mrs. Keeler had resided in this community for the past 67 years and leaves to survive, two sons, Lester M., of Bellingham, and Ed Andreson, of Forks; two grandsons, Jim Keeler, of Bellingham, and Joe Keeler, of Granite Falls; one granddaughter, Mrs. Dorothy Ridgeway, of Seattle; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Pete Martinson, of Pleasant Valley, Charlie Martinson, of Spokane, and Otto Martinson, of Santa Rosa, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. Lena Key, of Pleasant Valley. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. Clarence Haugen, Thursday, December 8, at 1:30 p. m. Final resting place, Enterprise.

KEELER, Carrie, age 73 years, a resident of Route 1, Ferndale for the past nine years, passed away at her home, Tuesday, August 28, (1945). Mrs. Keeler is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lois Rich, of Route 1, Ferndale, and Mrs. Dorothy King, of Brasher Falls, New York; one son, Henry Keeler, at Fort Covington, New York; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Eldred and Mrs. Ella Montgomery, of Moira, New York. The body rests at the Monroe Funeral Home in Ferndale where funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 31 at 1 p. m., with Rev. S. H. Quiring officiating. Interment, Woodlawn Cemetery.

KEELER, Hazel E., age 68 of 1900 Spokane St., passed away Thursday, March 4, (1976). Mrs. Keeler had resided in Bellingham for the past 39 years, was a member of the Church of the Sacred Heart and was a retired owner of Hazel's Cafe and also retired mink rancher. She was a member of the Senior Activity Center and the Culinary & Beverage Union Local No. 451. She leaves to survive 2 sons, Earl King of Reno and Don King of Redwood City; a daughter, Mrs. LaVerne Thompson of city; 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 3 stepchildren, James Keeler and Dorothy Ridgeway, both City and Joseph Keeler; 2 brothers, Sylvester Rickard of City and Martin Rickard of Auburn, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Pearl Enos of Freemont, Calif. Mass of the Christian Burial will be offered Monday, March 8 at 10 a.m. from the Church of the Sacred Heart. Interment Bay View Cemetery under the direction of the Westford Funeral Home. KEELER, Jim, age 52, of 511 12th St., passed away Wed., March 10, (1976). Mr. Keeler had been a life resident of Bellingham and was a pipe man for the Bellingham Water Dept. He was a veteran of WWII, was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church, a member of William J. Mathew Post No. 1585 of VFW. He leaves to survive his wife, Mrs. Betty J. Keeler; son, Gregory, both of the family home; a daughter, Mrs. Cathy Dralle of City; brother, Joseph Keeler of Everett; sister, Mrs. Dorothy Ridgeway of City. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 15 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with Rev. Duane Thomas officiating. Interment Bay View. Memorials may be made to the Heart Fund.

KEELER, Lester M., 1900 Spokane St. died Thursday, February 1, (1973). He was a lifetime resident of the area and was 74 years old at the time of his death. He was a retired rancher. Surviving him are his widow, Hazel; sons, James of Bellingham and Joseph of Snohomish; daughter, Dorothy Ridgeway of Bellingham; stepsons, Don and Earl King in California; stepdaughter, Mrs. LaVerne Thompson in Florida; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Services were arranged by Westford Funeral Home.

KEEN, Lorene was born July 3, 1928 in Neelyville, MO to Frank and Mary Bass. She went to live with The Lord on January 8, 2009. Lorene was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Lawrence, Chester, and Sherman; sister Mabel; son-in-law Sid Journey; grandson Matthew Patterson; and great-grandson Matthew Kartagener. She is survived by husband of 62 years, Ernest; daughter Janet Journey of Auburn, WA; sons Larry (Dianne) of Bellingham, Brad (Lyn) of Plains, MT, and Oral (Patricia) of Lynden; brother Leroy Montgomery of Toluca, IL; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, nephew James "Burl" Croy; and numerous other nephews and nieces. Lorene's only sadness in leaving was for her family and for her dear friends at the Portal Way Church of Christ in Ferndale. Services were held on Sat., Jan. 10th. KEENE, Daniel - Graveside services for retired school counselor Daniel Keene, 82, will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Ferndale's Enterprise Cemetery. The body will be cremated. Mr. Keene, of 908 Liberty St., Lynden, died Tuesday (Aug. 2, 1988) in Lynden. He was born June 6, 1906, in Duluth, Minn. and married Leah Axt on Nov. 20, 1933 in Bellingham. He was a counselor for the Fircrest School for the Mentally Retarded in Seattle for 20 years, before retiring in 1971. He moved to Lynden in 1979. Survivors include his wife of the family home; daughters Eleanor Whitman of Lynden, Vera Bowerman of Boulder, Mont., Diane Albert of Chandler, Ariz., and Marie Madsen of Redmond; a brother, Loren Snow of Blaine; a sister, Virginia Derr of Ferndale; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements are by Gillies Funeral Home.

KEENE, Fred Charles, age 75 of 914 Newell St., passed away Oct. 15, (1975). A lifetime resident of Whatcom County, Mr. Keene was an employee of Boise Cascade. Surviving wife, Norma; 1 sister, Mrs. Mary Judson of Santa Barbara, Calif.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services Monday, Oct. 20 at 1 p.m., Jones Funeral Home. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery.

KEENE, Gertrude Marie, age 67, 3241 Greenwood Drive, passed away at home Monday, Dec. 20, (1965). Mrs. Keene was a forty-three year resident of this City, and was bookkeeper for Keene Produce Co. She was a member of the Birchwood Presbyterian Church. Survivors are her husband, Harold B.; two daughters, Mrs. Caroline K. Patterson of Tacoma, and Mrs. Bernice K. Hird of Los Angeles; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Margarita Hoffman, Friday Harbor; Mrs. Dorothy McCulloch, Seattle, and a brother, Clarence Appel of Chicago, Ill. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by the Rev. Richard Stussi Friday, December 24 at 3 p.m. Interment will follow in Greenacres Mausoleum.

KEENE, Leah - A graveside service for Leah (Axt) Keene of Lynden will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Enterprise Cemetery in Ferndale. Mrs. Keene died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at Christian Health Care Center in Lynden. She was 83. Born July 8, 1917, to Frederick and Sophia (Belke) Axt in McClusky, N.D., she had been a Whatcom County resident for 63 years. In November 1933, she married Dan Keene, and they were married for 55 years. He died in 1988. Mrs. Keene worked with people with mental disabilities for 20 years. She also cooked for the County Hospital in North Bellingham in the 1950s. She loved to garden and crochet. Her daughters Carmen and Donna Keene died in 1939 and daughter Eleanor Whitman died in 1999. One grandchild also died previously. Survivors include daughters Diane Albert of Eugene, Ore., Vera L. Bowerman of Hot Springs, Mont., and Marie Madsen of Redmond sister Leona Vineyard of Ferndale brother John Axt of Tacoma half-sister Liz Burger of Sumas 10 grandchildren 13 great-grandchildren two great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives. Arrangements are by Greenacres Funeral Home of Ferndale.

KEENE, Mary Alice, 70, of Bellingham, passed away Thursday, August 26th, 2004, at the family home, due to complications of Alzheimer's. Mary was born October 6, 1933, in Frewsburg, New York to Richard and Alice Atkins. She graduated from Sugar Grove High School in Pennsylvania in 1951 and married Bruce Keene that same year. Bruce and Mary moved to upstate New York to raise their family. In 1969, the family of six moved to Phoenix, AZ. Bruce and Mary retired in Bellingham in 1985 where Mary was a member of the Writer's Guild. She enjoyed painting, photography and loved nature and being outdoors. She was a loving and caring wife and mother and will be dearly missed. Mary is survived by her husband, Bruce, of Bellingham, her son, Curt of Las Vegas, NV, her son Richard of Bellingham, her daughter Donna Kutac of Farmington, NM, her daughter Lisa of Bellingham, her sister Pearl, of Huntington Beach, CA, her brother Norman Atkins of New York and her grandchildren, Jessica and David Keene of Bellingham. Private services will be held pending arrangements.

KEENE, Norma, age 101, passed away March 24, 2008 in Bellingham. She was born on Dec 8, 1906 in Independence, OR to Harry and Fannie Willis. She was married to Fred Keene who preceded her in death. She is survived by her nephews, Patrick (wife, Patricia) Aarstol and Gene (wife, Micki) Aarstol, Dennis Russell, Gary (wife, Jane) Russell; nieces, Marlene (husband, Tollef) Bakke; Peggy (husband, Leo) Marr; JoAnne (husband, Don) Adams; and sister, Cleo Ann Russell. She was preceded in death by her other brother and sisters, Zelma Bechtel, Georgia Nelson, Grace Aarstol, Fred and Kenneth Willis. A graveside ceremony will be hosted on Friday, March 28, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery. Westford Funeral Home and Cremation Broadway & Eldridge.

KEENER, Florence Indina, age 95 of Bellingham, passed away September 24, 1997 at St. Francis Extended Health Care. She was born July 5, 1902 in Warrensburg, Missouri to John and Almeda (Freeman) Harrison. Her mother died in 1920 and the family moved to Prosser, WA in 1914. Mrs. Keener attended McDonald's Beauty and Barber College in the 1930's and was a beautician for many years in Bellingham and Yakima. When her husband passed away in 1983 in Yakima, she moved to Bellingham to live at Washington Square. She was a member of Royal Neighbors for over 50 years. Preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Edna, Ada and Emma. She is survived by her close friends, Roy and Joanne Reed and family, many dear friends; nephew Vern Atwood of Seattle; cousin Eula Clark of Prosser. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 30, 1997, in the Jerns LeVeck Funeral Chapel followed by burial in Greenacres Memorial Park with Rev. Donel McClellan officiating. Visitation will be 9:00 to 12:00 noon Saturday, 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday. The arrangements and services are under the direction of The Jerns LeVeck Funeral Chapel, James St. and E. Sunset Dr., Bellingham.

KEENEY, William Van Wagenen – At the family's request, there will be no services for William "Bill" Van Wagenen Keeney of Bellingham. Mr. Keeney died Monday, Aug 21, 2000. He was 81. Born July 2, 1919 to Nellie Elizabeth Van Wagenen and Clarence Rufus Keeney in New York City, he lived in Rome, NY for most of his life. While in Rome, he met his future wife, Esther Box, and they married May 16, 1947. In 1995, they moved to Bellingham. Mr. Keeney was in his second year at Ohio State University in Ohio when he enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1941. After the successful completion of 42 missions during World War II, he was awarded the Air Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross and a Presidential Unit Citation. Following his service, he owned and operated New Method Bandage, a training supply business. An avid golfer, he shot his age, 81, for the only time on Aug 17. He also loved his dogs, water skiing, touch football and ice hockey. Survivors include his wife of Bellingham, daughters Betsey Spencer of Bellingham and Suzanne Lucy of Deming and five grandchildren. Arrangements are by Westford Funeral Home.

KEGLEY, Warren Kruse, 82, of Clayton, NM, died of cancer Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1992, in Clayton. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Schooler-Hass Funeral Home in Clayton, with the Rev. Ran Loy officiating. Mr. Kegley was born May 12, 1910, in Sumner. He married Marie Erickson May 28, 1941, in Bellingham. He worked as a dental technician in Albuquerque NM for 20 years until his retirement in 1970. He had lived in Clayton since 1983. He was a member of St. John's Lodge No. 53, A.F. and A.M. in Tyler, Texas. Survivors include his wife Marie Kegley of Clayton; and sisters-in-law Alice Johnson, Edna Hawkins and Wilma Erickson, all of Bellingham.

KEHL, Gabriel, age 94 of Rt. No. 2, Lynden, passed away in a local rest home Monday, August 19, (1963) following a one week illness. A retired farmer he had made his home in the Lynden area since 1942 and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Bellingham. Survivors include his wife, Anna; 3 sons, William and John, both of Lynden; Edward of Charlotte, N. Carolina; 5 daughters, Mrs. Fred Reiter and Mrs. Walter Swinburnson, both of Lynden; Mrs. George Herrin of Palo Alto, Calif., Mrs. Melvin Hicok of Novato, Calif., Mrs. George McLeod of Bellingham; also 21 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one son, Crist preceded him in death May 2, 1962. Funeral services will be held at the Gillies Funeral Home Thursday, August 22 at 2 p.m. with Vicar Warren W. Schumacher officiating. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park.

KEHL, Katherine, age 76, of Yakima, passed away Wed. (March 1, 1978) in a Yakima hospital. She was born in Russia & came to the U.S. in about 1912. She lived in Yakima & married Christ Kehl in 1918 in Yakima. They lived in B'ham for approx. 15 yrs & returned to Yakima in 1961. Survivors: 2 sons; Ted Kehl of B'ham & Ed Kehl of Yakima; 2 daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Rosie) Bales & Mrs. Melbert (Alice) Vetter of Yakima. 1 brother, Alex Kehl of Yakima; 3 sisters; Mrs. Paul Dalloff & Mrs. Joseph Bachmann both of Yakima & Mrs. Gene McCreery of Calif. 7 grandchildren & 1 great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Christ in 1962 & her brother Michael Kehl in 1977. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church of Yakima. Funeral services will be Sat., Mar. 4 at 9 AM at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home of Yakima. The family suggest memorials to the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Yakima.

KEHLER, Edward A., age 62, of 6324 Saxon Rd., Acme, passed away Sunday, March 26, (1978). A resident of Whatcom County for the past 10 years. He was an accountant and was district manager of the Triple A Office here in B'ham. for the past 7 years. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the University Lodge No. 482 F&AM of Detroit, the Al-Malaikah Temple of Los Angeles, the A&A Scottish Rite of Free Masonry of Los Angeles, the York Rite Bodies of B'ham. the Order of White Shrine No. 12 of Ferndale, Past Patron Chapter No. 171 OES of Nooksack, Past Royal Patron Order of Amaranth Court No. 25 of B'ham. and a member of Mt. Shuksan American Legion Post No. 224 of Deming. Surviving are his wife A. Marie; 1 daughter, Audrey Leblanc of North Vancouver, B. C.; 2 brothers, Harry of Ontario, Canada & Ernest of Ocean Park, B.C. Also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services Weds., March 29 at 2 p.m. in Veroske's Bellingham Chapel with Rev. John Oosterhoff officiating. Officers of the Nooksack Valley Lodge No. 105 also participating with burial in Bayview Cemetery.

KEHR, Edwin J. of Auburn, passed away Sunday, April 3, (1966). Mr. Kehr was a former resident of Bellingham and a retired farmer. He leaves to survive 5 sons; Earl of Sandy, Oregon; Harold of Bremerton; Elmer and Arthur of Seattle and Lew of this City. 1 Daughter Mrs. Helen Jones of Auburn. 20 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. KEHR, Ella Nevada, age 71 years, of 1902 22nd St., passed away in Seattle, Thursday, Feb. 14, (1957) following a short illness. She had resided in Seattle for the past four years and was a former longtime resident of Bellingham. She leaves to survive her husband, Edwin J. Kehr at the family home; five sons, Leu [Lou?] A. Nortimer, of this city; Earl Kehr of Portland; Arthur, Elmer and Harold Kehr, all of Seattle; one daughter, Mrs. Helen Jones of Portland; 21 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Frank Wallace of Steelville, Mo., and George Wallace of Gardenia, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Ida Brock of Cuba, Mo. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Feb. 18, at 10:30 a.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home, with the Rev. James B. Hughes of the First Baptist Church officiating. KEHRER, Johanna, age 85, formerly of 3228 39th Ave. S. W., Seattle, passed away in the Icelandic Rest Home in Blaine, Thurs. July 27, 1978. A former pioneer of the Blaine area, she had made her home in Seattle from 1916 to 1974. Surviving are 1 son, Ernest M. Kehrer of Seattle. A daughter, Mrs. Frances Helen Reiger of Pacificia, CA. 4 sisters; Olivia Rickdal of Seattle, Dora Thorsteinson & Bertha Stoneson both of San Francisco, CA & Helga Richardson of Oakland, CA. 5 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in Veroskes McKinney Funeral Home in Blaine, Mon. July 31 at 2 pm with the Rev. Dennis Wildermuth officiating. Burial in the Blaine Cemetery. KEIDEL, John Wesley, age 76 years, route 2, Blaine, passed away Friday, June 29, (1945). He had lived in Whatcom county fifty-six years, in the Delta and Blaine districts. He is survived by four sons, Frank, Lomita, Calif., Floyd and Lloyd, U.S. army in Italy, LeRoy, prisoner of the Japanese; one daughter, Pearl, in California, and one sister, Mrs. Fred A. Williams, Bellingham. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 3, at 2 p. m., in the Knapp and Knapp funeral home in Lynden, Rev. Garries, of Sunrise, officiating. Interment in the Lynden cemetery.

KEIDEL, Roy W., age 59, of 106 Ft. Bragg Rd., Willets, Calif., passed away Tuesday, August 23rd, (1977). A former Whatcom Co. resident, Mr. Kiedel was a 17 yr resident of Calif., the last 7 of which he resided in Willets. He was employed by Little Lake Industries and was a foreman in the Trimline Furniture Division. He was a veteran of WWII and a member of the American Ex-POW's Assn and the Defenders of Bataan in Corrigidor Assn. and was also a past member of the Custer VFW. He is survived by his wife, Virginia; a son, Darwin Greenfield of Everson. A daughter, Sally Fields in Willets, Calif. 2 brothers, Lloyd Davie of Battleground, WA and Floyd Davie of LaCenter, WA. 3 grandchildren and also an aunt, Mrs. Wick Gilmore of B'ham and an uncle, Mr. Ray Pittman of Lynden. Military services will be conducted on Thursday Sept. 1st at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of the Gillies Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park.

KEIGHLEY, Ollie Retta, age 69, of 513 1/2 W. Holly, passed away in a local hospital, Tuesday, October 18, (1949) following a brief illness. Surviving relatives include three sons, Roy Dawson, of Astoria, Ore., Bradford Dawson, of Placerville, Calif., and Robert A. Dawson, of Sioux Falls, S. D.; one sister, Nellie M. Cory, of Bellingham; two brothers, George and Charles Holley. Funeral services will be Friday, October 21, at 3:30 p. m. at Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Chapel.

KEIL, Frank H. age 84, of 1311 State St., passed away at a local hospital Saturday, Feb. 27, (1954). Mr. Keil had resided in Bellingham for the past 55 years, was a retired sign painter and had attended the Presbyterian Church. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Alice Thompson, of Buckshire, England; three nephews, Frank W. Keil of Seattle, Charles and Roland Keil, both of Edmonton. The remains rest at the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home where services were conducted by Rev. James Martyn Wilson, Monday, March 1, at 2 p.m. Cremation.

KEIL, Jeffrey Bartholomew, age 30, of 250 West Kline Rd., passed away Wed., Dec. 8, (1976). Mr. Keil was a construction worker and resided in this community for 2 years. He was an Army veteran, having served in Vietnam. Surviving wife, Nikki; two daughters, Oriel and Karen at home; his parents, Walter G. Keil of West Covina, Calif. and Mrs. Faye Karlin of Menlo, Kansas; two sisters, Lillian and Adraian. There will be no funeral services. KEILLOR, Harvey, age 57 who resided at 2201 C St. passed away on Sunday June 9, (1963) following a brief illness. Mr. Keillor had been a resident of Bellingham for the past few months. KEIM, Johanna Sophia, age 87 of 3010 Coolidge Drive, died Sun., June 15, 1980. She was a housewife and Christian Scientist. Survivors are 5 sons, Wilbur Mercer & C. W. KEITH, Annie Elizabeth, age 96 years, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ethel C. Brents, Sunday, April 15, (1945). Besides the daughter, she is survived by one son, Louis P. Keith, Belfair, Wash.; five grandsons; one granddaughter and six great-grandchildren. KEITH, Arnold, age 60 years of 3112 Pinewood, passed away Monday, June 18, (1973). He had been a lifetime resident of this community. Retired security guard and a veteran of WWII. KEITH, Florence P., age 74, of 1301 W. Holly Street, passed away in a local hospital Saturday, December 23, (1950). Mrs. Keith had resided in this community for the past 56 years and was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses. Surviving relatives are two sons, Earl Junkin and Arnold Keith, both of Bellingham, and four grandchildren. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth, where services will be conducted by Mr. Robert Lenk, Tuesday, December 26, at 1 p.m. Final resting place, Nooksack Cemetery.

KEITH, Freeman Harley, age 60, of 2822 Walnut Street, passed away at home Monday, Nov. 16, (1953). Mr. Keith had resided in this community for the past four months and was an electrician at the Bellingham Shipyards. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Coupeville and member of Alki Lodge No. 152, F. & A. M. in Seattle. Surviving relatives include the widow, Mrs. May Keith at the family home; one daughter, Mrs. Mabel Hougan of Tacoma; three brothers, Charlie N. and Clarence B. Keith, both of Everett and Samuel E. Keith of Seattle; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Austin of Coupeville and Mrs. Dorothy Erickson of Holden, Wash. The remains were forwarded to Seattle by Harlow-Hollingsworth where Masonic services will be conducted in the West Home Chapel Wednesday, November 18, at 3 p.m. Cremation.

KEITH, Jeannie - Funeral services were conducted Dec. 23, (1971) in Moles Funeral Chapel for Jeannie Keith. She was 89 at the time of her death which occurred on Wednesday morning. The service was conducted by Rev. Elmer Erickson. Mrs. Keith was born in Aberdeen, Scotland and had resided in Whatcom County the past 55 years, first living in the Pleasant Valley district where her husband, the late N. C. Keith operated the Pleasant Valley Store. They soon moved to Ferndale, her husband continuing in the grocery store business. She was a member of the United Church of Ferndale, Ferndale Chapter OES, Past Matrons Club, Chapter BQ, PEO, and the DUPI Garden Club. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Higley and Mrs. Margaret Brunner, both of Ferndale; sister, Mrs. Margaret Manley of Aberdeen, Scotland; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery.

KEITH, Lois H., of 445 So. State St., passed away Sun. Jan. 21, 1979, in Bellingham. A 40 year resident of this city, she was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church and belonged to the Aftermath Club, the Bellingham Yacht Club and Bellingham Golf & Country Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Glen W. Keith and is survived by 1 daughter, Mrs. Sandra K. Flaherty and her husband, Robert, of Port Townsend, Wash., 2 granddaughters, Mrs. Kathryn Streaker of Edmonds, and Lisa Flaherty of Port Townsend, and a close friend, Mr. C. S. "Mike" Gorie of City. Graveside services will be conducted by Pastor Tim Lann Wed. Jan. 24, 1 p.m. at Bay View Cemetery. Arrangements by Jones Funeral Home.

KEITH, Margaret R. - A graveside service for Margaret R. Keith of Bellingham will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Greenacres Memorial Park. Mrs. Keith died Saturday, Sept. 16, 1999, in Bellingham. She was 82. Born Aug. 30, 1916, in Idaho, she was a widow. Mrs. Keith worked as a bookkeeper. Mrs. Keith was active in the Older Women's League. Arrangements are by Jones-Moles Funeral Home.

KEITHLINE, Stanley, age 73 years, who resided at 1337 Pacific Highway, passed away at his home Thursday, August 14th, (1952) after an illness of two months. He had resided in Bellingham for the past 49 years. Mr. Keithline is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nettie Keithline; one daughter, Mrs. Fern Marsh, of Blanchard, Wash.; also two nieces and one nephew of Pennsylvania. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, August 18th, at 2 o'clock within the chapel of the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home with the Rev. Eugene Sabin officiating, followed by cremation.

KEITHLY, Diana M., age 29 of 213 So. Forest St., Bellingham, passed away Nov. 11, (1975). A Whatcom County resident for the past year Mrs. Keithly was a member of Garden Street Methodist Church. Surviving husband, Russell; 1 daughter, Heather; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Krahn of Fairfield, Idaho; grandmother, Mrs. Ida Baldwin of Fairfield, Idaho; 2 brothers, Clinton Krahn of Snohomish and Donald Krahn of Berkeley, Calif. KELL, Roy, age 77, passed away at his home in Acme, Thurs. April 26, 1979. He is survived by a son Phillip Kell in Paradise, CA. 2 daughters; Mrs. Carl Holder in Utah & Mrs. Beverly Hobbs in Calif. KELLAR, Harold Reid, age 62, passed away at the family home at 2717 Sunset Drive, Thursday, January 15, (1953). Mr. Kellar had resided in this community for the past 46 years, and was a machinist for the Bellingham Chain and Forge Co. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, and the Fairhaven Lodge No. 73, F. & A. M. Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Edna Kellar, at the family home; a step-son, Richard E. Hill, of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Nina E. Lick, of Tacoma; two uncles, Thomas E. Reid, of Bellingham, and John A. Reid, of Lawrence; and several cousins, including Russel E. Reid, of Bellingham, and Raymond A. Reid, of Lawrence. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. James M. Wilson, Monday, January 19, at 3 p.m. Final resting place. Bay View.

KELLENBERGER, Arthur W., age 78, passed away July 1, 2005 at St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham, WA. He was born September 4, 1926 in Alton, IL to Arthur J. and Minna H. Kellenberger. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty, sister Louise and brother George "Bud". He is survived by children, Irvin Kellenberger of Seattle, Joyce Kellenberger of Arlington, Jane Wilken of Mukilteo, Bruce Cline of Lynnwood, Michael Cline of Fullerton, CA, Sheila Hubbard of Bellingham; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. KELLER, Albert, age 83, passed away at his home at 814 E. Maryland Street, Tuesday, November 20, (1951). Mr. Keller had resided in this community for the past 50 years and was a retired dairy farmer. He was a member of the Whatcom County Dairymen's Association. He leaves to survive one sister, Marie Keller, of Zurich, Switzerland, and many nephews and nieces including Albert Keller, of Cleveland, Ohio, and Rudolph Davaiz, of Antioch, Calif. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted Friday, November 23, at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Benjamin Harlick. Cremation.

KELLER, Dick, age 87 years, who resided at 2720 McLeod Road, passed away at his residence Friday, Nov. 8, (1957) following a lingering illness. Mr. Keller had been a resident of Bellingham for many years and leaves to survive no known relatives. Rev. Myron Hilty, pastor of the Light House Mission will officiate at funeral services on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of the Bingham & Jerns Funeral Home. Interment will be at Greenacres Memorial Park.

KELLER, George, age 78, a resident of Ferndale for the past 30 years, passed away in St. Paul, Minn., Thursday, July 13, (1961). Survivors include one son, Jack Keller of Long Beach, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Beulah Jennings of Mount Vernon; three sisters, Mrs. Lulu Goodell and Mrs. Bertha Roberts, both of Bellingham, and Mrs. Alta Ham of Hepper, Kan.; two grand-children and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the Moles' Monroe Chapel, Saturday, July 22, at 1:30 p. m. with Rev. Paul Jacobson officiating. Final resting place Woodlawn Cemetery.

KELLER, Herman August, age 82 years, of Route 1, Lynden, passed away in a local hospital, Monday, Dec. 30, (1957) following a lingering illness. He had been a resident of the Lynden area for the past 45 years. Survivors include three sons, Harold of Olympia, Ralph of Puyallup, Clifford of Wenatchee; two daughters, Mabel Keller and Mrs. Edith Myles, both of Ferndale; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandson. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Jan. 2, at 1 p.m. from the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden with the Rev. Carl E. Lindstrom officiating. Interment in Monumenta Cemetery.

KELLER, Jake E., age 78, of 1744 Kellogg Rd., passed away in a local hospital Saturday, Oct. 23, (1954). Mr. Keller had resided in this community for the past 48 years and was a retired cook. Surviving, other than one brother and one sister in Arkansas, is one grand-niece, Mrs. Jack Towell of Bellingham. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where private service will be conducted Monday, Oct. 25, at 10:30 a.m. Cremation.

KELLER, Lloyd G. - Former Ferndale-area resident Lloyd G. "Rocky" Keller, 72, died Feb. 10, (1989) in a Burns, Ore., hospital. Mr. Keller, a Hines, Ore., resident, was born Sept. 18, 1916 in Gilliam County, Ore. He moved to Whatcom County with his family in 1927, and attended Ferndale schools. He served in non-combat duty with the U.S. Marines during World War II, then returned to Oregon in the mid-1960s. He lived most of the remainder of his life in Harney County, Ore., where he raised horses. He also lived in Alaska for about five years. Survivors include three sisters, Bertha Schaller of Bellingham and Elma Knight and Dorothy Ross of Deming; one uncle, Don Weise, of Bellingham; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Arrangements are by La Follette Chapel in Burns, Ore. No local services will be held.

KELLER, Mary T., age 85, resided at 2419 D St., passed away Feb. 15, (1977) in a local hospital. She was a retired sales clerk at Fountain Drug for many years. She is survived by 1 son, Harold Woodruff of Craig, Colo.; 1 daughter, Mrs, Helen Woodruff of Bellingham and 1 brother, Albert Tauscher of Portland, 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren. KELLER, Violet L., age 75, a Clear Lake resident died at home last Friday (Dec., 1976). She was born in England, March 24, 1901, came to the United states at the age of 4 and had been a Sedro Woolley resident for the past 30 years. Survived by one son, Charles Coultas of Sedro Woolley, 3 daughters, Lillie Skiles, Alta Hickman and Violet Moran all of Sedro Woolley, 10 grandchildren. Services will be held Wed., Dec. 22 at 10:30 a.m. at the Lemley Chapel, Sedro Woolley followed by interment at the Union Cemetery.

KELLER, William Sr., age 78, of 1819 Franklin Street, passed away at a local hospital, Monday, January 22, (1951) following an extended illness. Mr. Keller had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 36 years and was a retired railroad laborer; he was of the Lutheran faith. Surviving relatives include his wife, Emma; a son, William, of Bellingham; six daughters, Mrs. Emma Sander, Miss Margaret Keller and Miss Minnie Keller, all of Bellingham, Mrs. Lena Babcock of Pasco, Mrs. Louis Schram of Vancouver, Wash., and Mrs. Ella Moak of San Leandro, Calif.; one grandson and a great-grandson; other relatives in the East. Services will be conducted within the Chapel of the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home Wednesday, January 24, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. E. M. Butenshon officiating. KELLER, William - No services are planned for Whatcom County native William Keller. Mr. Keller, 68, of 7543 Robb Lee Drive, Blaine, died Wednesday (Sept. 25, 1991). He was born Dec. 12, 1922, in Bellingham to William and Emma Keller. He grew up in the Birch Bay area and graduated from Blaine High School. Mr. Keller was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He married Wilma Breedlove on Dec. 211, 1950, in Bellingham. He worked to Safeway Stores as a meat cutter, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Mount Vernon Elks Lodge No. 1604, Albert J. Hamilton Post No. 7 of the American Legion, Everett VFW and the Anacortes Eagles. Survivors include his wife, Wilma of the family home; a step-daughter, Leah Jones of Ashland, Ore.; sisters, Emma Sander and Minnie Keller, both of Bellingham; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Arrangements are under the direction of Jones-Moles Funeral Home.

KELLER, Wilma Fay - At her request, there will be no services for Wilma Fay (Breedlove) Keller of Bellingham. Mrs. Keller died Sunday, April 2, 2000. She was 83. Born Feb. 21, 1917, to John and Ruby (Ramey) Breedlove in Bellingham, she had been a lifetime Bellingham resident. Mrs. Keller graduated from Harmony High School. In 1950, she married William Keller. Mrs. Keller worked in the food industry for many years and enjoyed quilting. Her husband died previously. Survivors include daughter Leah Kagey and granddaughter Kelli McCullock, both of Wilsonville, Ore. grandson Lyle Kagey of Tacoma and six great-grandchildren. KELLEY, Ann Grubb of Blaine, Washington, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2007. She was 72 years old. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Burch Mann Kelley, her daughter and son-in-law Amy Morgan and Braulio Andaluz of Maui, her stepson and daughter-in-law, Michael Scott and Cyndee Kelley of Fresno, and her three granddaughters. KELLEY, Charles Dewey, 57, of 1611 So. M St., Tacoma, passed away in that city Sunday, March 24, (1957). Mr. Kelley formerly lived in Bellingham and had resided in Tacoma for the past 12 years. He was a conductor and brakeman for the Northern Pacific Railroad and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. Surviving relatives include his widow, Norma H. at home; one brother, D. W. Kelley of Clarsburg, W. Va.; numerous nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the Jones' Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Dr. W. KELLEY, Earl A., passed away on Friday, August 29, 2008 in Ferndale, WA. He worked for many years at the University of Wyoming and volunteered at the Ivinson Hospital, the Ivinson Mansion, and the Wyoming Territorial Park. Survivors include his wife, Esther Kelley; son Ron and wife Pamela Kelley; three grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. KELLEY, Georgia J., age 60 of 316 E. Chestnut St., passed away Sun., Feb. 1, (1976). Mrs. Kelley had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 20 years. Survived by 1 brother, S.D. KELLEY, Grace, 95, a former Whatcom County resident, died Tuesday (Jan. 6, 1981) in Kirkland. She was a member of Bellingham's First Christian Church and was preceded in death by her husband and only son. She is survived by a daughter, six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services took place Thursday in Greenacres Memorial Park. Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday in Kirkland's Rose Hills Presbyterian Church.

KELLEY, Helen Harlow of Bellingham, WA, passed away on Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, in Bellingham. She was 89, born Dec. 1, 1910, to Arthur and Adna (Raley) Harlow in Woodburn, Oregon. Helen worked as an Administrative Assistant in the Army Corps of Engineers. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church; Daughters of the Nile in Seattle; Zillah Chapter 111 of OES in Newport, WA; past president of Zenobia Club; past state president of the Daughters of the American Revolution; Huguenot Society of WA State; The National Society of Colonial Dames of the XVIIth Century, and the Aftermath Club. Helen was also interested and active in the Old Fairhaven High School reunions and in maintaining and restoring the Pickett House. She was predeceased by her husband Maurice and is survived by many friends in Bellingham. Visitation will be Mon, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Jones-Moles Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tues., Nov. 23, 1999, at Greenacres Memorial Park with the Rev. Robert Christie of St. Paul's Episcopal Church officiating.

KELLEY, Ira Oliver, age 83, 642 12th Ave., Kirkland, passed away at the home of his daughter in Kirkland Wednesday, November 13, (1963). Mr. Kelley was a fifteen year resident of this city before moving to Kirkland in May of this year. He was a member of the First Christian Church and the North Bellingham Grange. Survivors are his widow, Grace, at home; one daughter, Mrs. Ben Housekeeper, Kirkland; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Wilson F. Kelley, Sherman, So. Dakota; Roy Kelley, Los Angeles, Calif., and a half sister, Mrs. Emma Pistole of Maryville, Missouri. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Rev. KELLEY, James Clyde, age 75, of Bellingham, WA, passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 4, 2009. Jim was born on January 7, 1934, in Lansing, Iowa, to Robert and Freda (Kelly) Kelley. Jim married Gail Groves in 1978 in Bellingham. Jim sold safety equipment for 50 years for Sanderson Safety Co. and Safety Supply Co. He retired in 2002. He worked for the Department of Labor and Industries where he was instrumental in administering the first CPR/Mouth to Mouth resuscitation techniques. Jim was Past President of the Snohomish Jaycees from 1958-1959. He had many years in Fire Service including Volunteer Firefighter with Snohomish Fire Dist. 4 from 1955-1964; Whatcom County Dist. 15 Firefighter, Fire Chief, and Fire Commissioner from 1967-1996; and Fire Commissioner District #8 from 1996 to the present. Jim's interests included golfing at North Bellingham Golf Course, and he was a tv sports fanatic. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Clyde; mother, Freda; father-in-law, Walter Groves; mother-in-law, June Groves; and sister, Marilyn Powers. He is survived by his wife, Gail of Bellingham; children, Robert Stanley Kelley (Maureen) of Everett, Lynn Marie Kelley and partner Wendy Boyd of Salt Lake City, Mary Lou (Carl) Diltz of Brier, and Marcia Sue (Ron) Hanson of Arlington; stepchildren, Brenda Suzanne Lee of Bellingham, and Brian Ronald Lee (Rachel) of Bellingham; grandchildren, Jeremy and Kate Kelley, Mara and Brian Hanson, Colin Diltz, Jerico Harris, and Lindsay and Jacob Lee; brother, Robert F. KELLEY, Richard Allen - A service for Richard Allen Kelley of 6156 Sunshine Drive, Ferndale, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Greenacres Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Carl O. Fischer officiating. Mr. Kelley died Tuesday, May 13, 1997, at Mount Baker Care Center. He was 88. Born Nov. 29, 1908, to John and Mary Plant Kelley in Pittsburgh, Penn., he lived in Whatcom County for 22 years. He married Amy Enstrom on Oct. 12, 1940, in Flushing, N.Y. Mr. Kelley worked as a flight navigator for Texaco Oil Co. in the 1940s. He lived in South America until 1950 and then Miami until 1958. He moved to Ferndale in 1973 from Lancaster, Calif. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1973 and by a son, Richard Kelley Jr. Survivors include sons William Kelley and Paul Kelley, both of Ferndale and Patrick Kelley of Lancaster; daughters Judith Novak of Kent, Cathy Rodgers of Oakley, Calif., and Mary Ellen Brandt of Petaluma, Calif.; brother Earl Kelley of South Carolina; sister Nellie Burroughs of Slippery Rock, Penn.; 25 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.

KELLEY, Walter F.[L.], Chilliwack, B. C., formerly of Lynden, died Tuesday, December 12, (1972). He was 77 years of age at the time of death. Mr. Kelley was a retired farmer and a veteran of World War I. He was a member of the American Legion, the Sumas Last Man's Club, Sumas Valley Grange, and Clearbrook Lutheran Church. His survivors include a son, Clifford, Nampa, Idaho; a brother, Tom Kelley, Sacramento, California; and five grandchildren.

KELLEY, William John, age 71, of Clearbrook, passed away in a local hospital Thursday, June 17, (1954) following a short illness. Mr. Kelley had resided in that district his entire lifetime. He was a member of the Sumas Valley Grange, Clam Diggers' Association. He is survived by three brothers, Thomas R., Walter L., and Clifford; several nieces and nephews. KELLN, Mary went home peacefully to be with her lord & Savior, Nov. 13, 2002. She was 93. Mary had been a resident at Highland Convalescent Center, under the loving care of their staff, the remaining years of her life. She was born to Alex & Mary Bay in Shattuck, OK, where she married her childhood sweetheart, Gottfred. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband brothers: David, Harry, Alex, Willie and sister, Lydia. Mary is survived by three sons: LeRoy (Barbara) of Bellingham, Melvin (Jeanne) of Marysville, Bobby Dean (Kathleen) of Ferndale two daughters: Lillian (Grady) Lowman of New Bern, NC, Ruth (Jerry) Edmonds of Bellingham 12 grandchildren & 17 great grandchildren, who were the treasures of her heart. Mary was a faithful member of the United Church in Ferndale for 45 years. She will be remembered for her love of people, always quick to share a smile & help wherever she could. Her beautiful handiwork of crocheted afghans, doilies & handmade quilts grace the homes of many of her loved ones. She enjoyed sharing with others the harvest of vegetables and flowers from her lovingly tended gardens. Most of all, she will be remembered by her children as a mother who loved & always gave her very best. A graveside service will be Mon. Nov. 18, 1:00 p.m. at Greenacres|Moles Cemetery. KELLNER, Rudolph Alvin, age 62 of Route 1, Ferndale, passed away in a local hospital Sunday March 26, (1961) following an extended illness. KELLOGG, Adna R., age 79, passed away at the family home, 417 Garden St., Tuesday, June 27, (1961). Mr. Kellogg had resided in this community since 1913; was a member of St. James Presbyterian Church; a member and Past Matron of Sehome Chapter No. 17, O.E.S.; Past Grand Matron of the Grand Chapter of O.E.S.; a member of Zenobia Club, Daughters of the Nile; a member of the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, and a member of the Daughters of the Pioneers. Surviving relatives are her husband, Judge John A. Kellogg at home; one daughter, Mrs. Helen Kelley, presently of Stanford, Mont.; two sisters, Mrs. Lester Hurst of Pendleton, Ore., and Mrs. H. Sherman Mitchell of Walla Walla, Wn.; also nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Rev. KELLOGG, Judge John A., age 90, formerly of 417 Garden St., passed away in a local hospital, Thursday, April 12, (1962). A life resident of this community, Judge Kellogg had been a practicing attorney for over 60 years; had served as mayor of Bellingham for 10 years; had served as the first attorney for the Port Commission and had been very active in the Republican party. Judge Kellogg was a member of the St. James Presbyterian Church; a charter member of the Hobby Club; a member of the Round Table Club, B.P.W. Elks No. 194, and the Modern Woodmen of America. Surviving relatives are his daughter, Mrs. B. Lambert Smith of Mount Vernon; son, John Albert Kellogg of New York; two grandchildren, Craig Kellogg Smith of Bellingham, attending W.W.S.C. and Miss Martha Kellogg Smith of Mount Vernon. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Dr. Glenn C. Carlson, Monday, April 16, at 3 p.m. Cremation.

KELLOGG, John Albert, 73, a former Bellingham resident, died Sunday (Feb. 13, 1983) in Pleasant Hill, Calif., following a short illness. He was born Oct. 20, 1909, in Bellingham. He was the son of the late John A. Kellogg, an attorney who was mayor of Bellingham in the 1930's and '40s. He was the valedictorian of his graduating class at Whatcom High School. He graduated from University of Washington in 1931. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta. Survivors include a sister, Katherine Smith, of Mount Vernon, a niece, a nephew and other relatives. Cremation was held in California. Inurnment will be in the Kellogg family plot at Bayview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Kern Funeral Home, Mount Vernon.

KELLY, Alva Fay, age 75 of Rt. 1, Lynden passed away in a local hospital, Friday, June 23, (1961) following a brief illness. Mr. Kelly had been a resident of Lynden since 1904 and was one of the first drivers for the Lynden Transfer. He later farmed in the Lynden area until retiring in 1950. Surviving are his wife, Clara; 2 brothers, Clyde Kelly of Palo Alto, California, and Claude Briden of Waverly, Iowa; and 1 sister, Mrs. Nina Growe of Waverly, Iowa. Funeral services will be held in the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden, Tuesday, June 27, at 2 p. m. with the Rev. James Updike officiating. Burial will follow in the Lynden Cemetery.

KELLY, Ethel L., age 73, 305 Cedar Ave., Sedona, Ariz., passed away in Cottonwood, Ariz., Sept. 24, 1979. She was previously of Bellingham. Survived by 1 son, Sam Kelly of Bellingham; 1 daughter, Mrs. Mary Gray, Sylvania, Ohio; a sister, Alice Newland, Mill Valley, Calif. KELLY, Gary Lee, age 38, of 1278 Loni Lane, Ferndale. Passed away Friday April 29, (1977). He was a veteran of WWII serving in both the US Army & US Navy. KELLY, George, age 76, of 131 Franklin St., passed away in a local hospital, Sunday, March 8, (1959). Mr. Kelly had resided in this community for the past 20 years and was a retired logger. KELLY, Helen P., 89, 1224 Cornwall Ave., died Friday (Oct. 2, 1981) in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 6, 1891, in Bellingham. She was a life member of Assumption Catholic Parish, a member of Women of Assumption, Legion of Mary, D.A.R., Bellingham Women's Music Club, Aftermath Club, Retired Teacher's Association and Mother of Evangelistic Auxiliary of St. Joseph Hospital. She is survived by a nephew, Samuel Kelly of Bellingham, and a niece, Mary Kelly Gray of Ohio. Christian Prayer services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Veroske, Jerns and LeVeck Funeral Chapel. KELLY, Lila Ann, 49, 1760 Marine Drive, died Sunday (March 22, 1987) in Bellingham. She was born May 28, 1937, on the Lummi Indian Reservation and lived in Whatcom County all her life. She was a member of St. Joachim's Catholic Church and worked at St. Luke's General Hospital as a licensed practical nurse for 28 years. Survivors include her husband, Clifford Kelly of the family home; a son Kevin Kelly of Bellingham; two daughters, Juanita Wilkinson and Leann Kelly, both of Bellingham; six brothers, Alvin Casimir, Gordon Wilson, Jim Wilson, Gary Wilson and Mike Wilson, all of Bellingham and Art Aleck of Rosedale, B.C.; three sisters, Violet Adams, Mary Martin and Florence Casimir, all of Bellingham; an uncle, Joseph Louie of Deming; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Vigil prayer services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Neighborhood Facility on the Lummi reservation. KELLY, Lola Lee, of Acme, died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday (March 10, 1953) in a Bellingham hospital. Born in Missouri December 11, 1898, she was 55 years old. She had lived in Washington state 48 years, and at Acme 44. She came to Acme with her parents in her childhood. Her father was Joseph Kelly, editor of the Acme Prospector, who died in 1925. Her mother, Mrs. Katherine E. Kelly, survives at the family home at Acme. Other survivors are a twin sister, Miss Lola Lee Kenney of Sedro Woolley; another sister, Mrs. Viola M. Brown, of Suquamish, Wash.; four nephews and a niece. Miss Kelly was a member of the Methodist church. Rev. Daniel E. Taylor, of the Garden Street Methodist church, will conduct the services at the Harlow-Hollingsworth funeral home, where the remains now rest, at 10 a.m., Monday, March 16. Interment in the Saxon cemetery will follow. The four nephews Geil (hard to read), Bruce and Jerry Kenney and Ed Brown Jr. and two neighbors, George E. Neff and Jack Hunt will be the casketbearers.

KELLY, Mary Elizabeth, age 74 of Rt. 1, Everson, passed away Saturday, April 7, (1956) in a local hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Kelly had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past 36 years, living most of the time in the Mt. View community. She was a member of the United Church in Ferndale. Surviving relatives include her husband, Thomas J. KELLY, Maxine C. (Leathers), 60, Nooksack Elder, passed away on December 30, 2003 after a long battle with cancer surrounded by family and friends. Maxine lived for 34 years with husband, Ted Kelly, in Aberdeen, Washington. She enjoyed stick games and traveling to Reno/Las Vegas as well as casinos. She loved to play Bingo. She also enjoyed traveling with her grandchildren to all year-round sports functions. She was very supportive of "all" family and friends. She was a very special wife, mother, grandmother, and a very wonderful great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all. Thanks to one and all who helped. KELLY, Raymond - Requiem mass was offered Tuesday morning in St. Joseph's Catholic by Rev. John O'Sullivan for Raymond Kelly, 62 who died Friday (May 7, 1971) following a lingering illness. He resided at 583 Ferndale Terrace. Mr. Kelly was a retired employee of the Mobil Refinery and had been a resident of Ferndale since 1954. He was a navy veteran of WWII, a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Faithful Navigator in Knights of Columbus, and past Commander of Kulshan Post of the American Legion. Surviving are his widow Alice, one son, Joe of Ferndale, and one grandson, Kevin Kelly. Prayer services and visitation were at Moles Funeral Chapel.

KELLY, Robert J. "Bob", age 46 years, of Deming, passed away suddenly Sunday, June 15, (1952). Mr. Kelly had been a life resident of Whatcom County and operated his own logging camp. KELLY, Rosa Ellen, age 89 years, who resided at 310 N. Commercial, passed away at the family residence on Tuesday, Feb. 17, (1959) following an extended illness. Mrs. Kelly was a pioneer of the State of Washington, having resided in Fairhaven since 1889, before the state was admitted. She was a member of the Church of the Assumption, also a member of the Legion of Mary, the Third Order of St. Francis, the Altar Society, past president of the Aftermath Club, past president of the Woman's Catholic Order of Foresters, past president of the Bellingham Women's Music Club and also a member of the Library Board for many years. She leaves to survive her daughter, Miss Helen P. Kelly, one grandson, Samuel Patrick Kelly, both residing in Bellingham; her granddaughter, Mary Sharon Kelly of Denver, Colo., and two great-granddaughters, Ann Elaine and Susan Jeanne Kelly. Rosary will be recited in the Chapel of Bingham and Jerns Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb. 19, at 7 p. m. KELSEY, Adelbert, age 67 years, of 408 Irving Street, passed away at a local hospital, Thursday, June 7, (1945). Mr. Kelsey had been a resident of this community for the past forty-five years. He was a member of the Culinary & Beverage Workers Union and at the time of his death was employed as a cook at the "Horseshoe." He is survived by his wife, Rose A. Kelsey; two nieces, Mrs. H. Belkap, of Johnson, New York, and Mrs. H. Lee, of Detroit, New York. KELSEY, Joe "Sonny" a resident of Acme passed away peacefully on Monday, May 26, 1997 at the age of 58. He was born on January 27, 1939. Joe, along with his father were active stock suppliers for the PRCA for over 20 years. Joe was also an appraiser for the Sate of Washington and took great pride in his appraisal work. He is survived by his wife Kay Kelsey. His children and their spouses, Damon & Lynette Kelsey, Jessica & Dale McGlaughlin, Dustin & Kacie Delsey & Melissa & Daren Stockman. Six grandchildren and his mother, Claudine Gavin. Funeral service will be held Saturday May 31, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley followed by interment at the Saxon Cemetery in Acme. KELSEY, John Benton passed away August 14, 2005, in Bellingham. He was born Oct. 31, 1930 in Glendale, CA. Raised in Los Angeles, John graduated from John Marshall High School, where he was the sports page editor of the school paper. He graduated from UCLA with a BS in Mathematics and a minor in English and received his MA in Education at California State University. Upon graduating from UCLA, John was drafted to serve in Korea during the Korean War. He spent his years of service in Army intelligence. John began his 35-year career as a math teacher at Woodrow Wilson High before moving to the San Fernando Valley, where he taught at Patrick Henry Junior High. He married a fellow math teacher, Judy Nyland, with whom he celebrated his 43rd wedding anniversary shortly before his passing. John and Judy retired to Ferndale in 1994. He is survived by his devoted wife, Judy, his loving children Kathleen (Mark) McGinn and Michael (Audrey) Kelsey, his grandchildren Jonathan and Emily McGinn and Elizabeth, Alysa, and John Daniel Kelsey, and his sister Darlene MacFarlane. John was devoted to his family and his church, honoring God as a man of character in all that he did. A Graveside Service will be held Friday, August 19, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. at Greenacres in Ferndale. KELSEY, Ruth – A memorial service for Ruth Kelsey of Bellingham will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 18 at Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship. Ms. Kelsey died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000 at her home. She was 95. Born April 2, 1905 to Thomas William and Jennie Mae (Hallock) Kelsey in Francisville, Ind., she graduated from Lewis & Clark High School in Spokane and earned her bachelor's degree in 1927 from State College of Washington (now Washington State University). Ms. Kelsey taught home economics, art and crafts in high schools in Eastern Washington and Idaho, receiving three Carnegie scholarships to study art at the University of Oregon during the summers between 1943 and 1954. In 1946, she earned a master's degree from the University of California at Berkeley, where she received the James Phelan Traveling Fellowship, which allowed her to travel for a year in Guatemala and Mexico to study the art of the Mayan and Aztec Indians. After teaching at Ventura Junior College in California for one year, she joined the faculty at Western Washington State College in 1948 and retired in 1972. A painter, she exhibited her work at many galleries in Washington and California. In 1995, at 90, she held her last one-woman exhibit at Western's Viking Union Gallery, where she showed her paintings of Nez Perce Indians while she was at the Nespelem Art Colony in Eastern Washington between 1938 and 1940. Currently, many of these paintings are on exhibit at WSU and are featured in "Indian Summers," published by WSU Press. Ms. Kelsey was a member of Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship, American Association of University Women, Whatcom Museum docents, WWU President's Club, WWU Association of Retired Faculty and Women of Western. Ms. Kelsey established endowment funds for art students at WWU to provide tuition scholarships and art materials. In 1992, she deeded her 20-acre farm west of Ferndale to the Whatcom Land Trust to be managed in conjunction with the nearby Lake Terrell Wildlife Refuge. Her adopted daughter Mary McIntyre-Gorrell died previously. Survivors include longtime friends David Nugent and Maria Gloria Smith of Bellingham and many nieces and nephews.

KELSEY, Velma L., 62, 1509 E. Victor St., died Friday, Oct 23, (1992) in Bellingham. A lifelong Bellingham resident, she was born March 31, 1930 to John and Stacey Carpenter. Survivors include daughter Donna Carpenter; brothers, Curtis and John Carpenter; and three granddaughters. All reside in Bellingham. KELSO, Doris (Thompson), age 69, passed away in a Seattle nursing home, Mon. Aug. 14, 1978. She was a retired case worker for Wash. State Social & Health Services & a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. She leaves to survive 1 daughter, Diana Johnson & 1 grandson, Barry Johnson both of Seattle. KELSO, Leonard LeRoy, age 63, of Bellingham, passed away Monday, November 26, 1990. Born February 21, 1927 in Bellingham, he spent most of his life in Forks, WA employed as a logger until a logging accident ended his career, returning to Bellingham in 1982. He was a veteran of US Marine Corps and served during the Korean Conflict. Survived by his brother Charles K. Kelso and wife Barbara of Forks, WA; 1 son Glen Kelso and wife Kathy of Bellingham; 2 daughters, Kathy Payne and Linda Legault and husband Jerry, all of Bellingham; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Retired owner of Kelstrup Realtors, he was a member and chairman of Board of Trustees, Bellingham Alliance Church; a director of Bible Land Mission in Beirut, Lebanon; member of Bellingham Kiwanis Club; board member of Salvation Army; member of The Gideons; Honorary lifetime member and past president of Whatcom County Board of Realtors; a director of Whatcom County Boys Club and a member of the Bellingham Yacht Club. KELSTRUP, John L., age 74, of Rt. 2, Ferndale, passed away at his home, Friday, Nov. 15, (1957). He had been a resident of the Ferndale community for the past 20 years and was a member of the Lutheran Brethern Church of Ferndale. Survivors include his wife, Gudrun of the family home; five daughters, Mrs. Clara Schalberg of Salem, Ore., Mrs. Esther Hanson of Custer, Mrs. Broghild Olsen of Elmhurst, Ill., Mrs. Harriett Klippert of Wheaton, Ill., Mrs. Gunvor Olson of Seattle; five sons, Erling of Harper, Wash., Arnold of Bellingham, Arthur of Chehalis, Wash., Reidar of Ferndale, Sigurd of Seattle; one sister in Norway; 23 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. KELSTRUP, Sigurd Norman (Sig), passed away Sunday, January 20, 2008. Sig was born August 20, 1929, in Wolf Point, Montana, to Gudrun and John Kelstrup. The family moved to Washington in 1936. Childhood years were spent in Ferndale where he graduated from Ferndale High in 1948. He went on to attend and graduate from Western Washington University. Sig married his wife, Janet (Barrett), whom he had known since childhood, in Chicago in 1953. He served in the Army from 1953 to 1955. He and Janet returned to Washington and resided in Seattle where Sig taught school and later went into real estate development. Eventually they relocated back to Ferndale where they remained. Sig was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Earling, Arnold, and Reidar; and his sisters, Clara, Esther, and Harriett. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Janet; his 4 children, Kirk Kelstrup, Sue (Ed) Philpott, Nancy (Wayne) VanderLinden, and Tony Kelstrup; 8 grandchildren, Tyler, Kyle, Eric, Jennifer, Katy, Michael, Joe and Austin; 2 sisters, Borghild (Art) Olsen, and Guni (Marlin) Olson; brother, Art (Bertha) Kelstrup; and numerous nieces and nephews whom he was very fond of. Sig was very much an individual and was never one to be easily forgotten. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 2, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at 6620 Vista Drive, Ferndale. KELTZ, Ruth E. - A funeral service for Ruth E. (McGlenn) Keltz of Bellingham will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Moles Funeral Home in Ferndale, with Russell McGlenn officiating. Burial will follow in Enterprise Cemetery in Ferndale. Mrs. Keltz died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at St. Francis Extended Health Care. She was 81. Born Dec. 22, 1918, she moved to Whatcom County in 1990. Mrs. Keltz worked at Island Hospital in Anacortes for many years and was an Anacortes resident from 1962 to 1990. Mrs. Keltz was active in the Baptist Church in Concrete and Anacortes. An avid gardener, she loved her flowers and rockhounding. Survivors include sons Mike McGlenn of Bellingham, Mark McGlenn of Sedro-Woolley and Russell McGlenn of Anoka, Minn. sisters Olga Rahm of Ferndale and Ruby LaValle of Spokane and six grandchildren.

KELTON, William H. - A funeral service for William H. "Bill" Kelton, 69, of Ferndale will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Moles Funeral Chapel in Ferndale with the Rev. Al Currier officiating. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park. Mr. Kelton died Thursday, March 19, 1998, in Ferndale. Born in Olga on Jan. 26, 1929 to Elam and Valeria (Hipkoe) Kelton, he was a Ferndale resident for 26 years. Mr. Kelton was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of American Legion Post No. 93 on Orcas Island. He worked for ARCO in operations for 20 years, retiring in 1991. Before his time at ARCO, Mr. Kelton worked in logging operations in San Juan and Skagit counties. His wife, Elsie, preceded him in death in 1992. Survivors include sons Jeff and William Kelton of Ferndale; daughter Cheryl Powell of Sandy, Utah; brother Robert Kelton of Orcas Island; sisters March Ritchie and Iris Freeman of Lopez Island; 10 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. KEMP, Betty L. Moir - Bellingham High School graduate Betty L. Moir Kemp, 56, of Stanwood, died Tuesday, March 17, 1992, in an Everett hospital following a brief illness. She was born Nov. 2, 1935, at Mitchell, S.D, to Harold and Alice Moir. In 1937 she moved with her parents to Bellingham. She graduated from Bellingham High School in 1952 and earned a degree in education from Western Washington University, and a mater's degree in library science from Central Washington University. Mrs. Kemp also held a degree in journalism from Washington State University. She married Cecil N. Kemp 30 years ago. He survives her at the family home. From 1957 through 1964 she was a reporter with the Everett Daily Herald newspaper. She was a teacher and librarian at Hillcrest School at Lake Stevens from 1964 until 1989, when she accepted a position as school librarian at Sunnyside School in Marysville. She was a resident of Stanwood since November 1991. Mrs. Kemp was active in Alpha Delta Kappa sorority. A member of the International Association for School Librarians, she chaired the committee for their 1991 conference in Everett. She also was a member of Sweet Adelines and a women's barbershop quartet. In the 1970s she was involved with the Everett Community Theater. Other survivors include her sisters Marilyn Coughran of Dallas, Texas; Lillian N. Moir of Indianapolis, Ind.; and Helen M. Liepart of Bellingham; and many nieces and nephews. A time of remembrance for family and friends will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday in the Kemp family home, 3425 280th St. N.W., Stanwood. Private cremation and placement of ashes will occur later. Arrangements are by Gillbertson Funeral Home of Stanwood.

KEMP, Delila Leone, age 82, of 614 1/2 Maple St., passed away in a local hospital Sunday, Nov. 13, (1960). A life resident of Bellingham, Mrs. Kemp was a member of the Revival Tabernacle. KEMP, Fred A., age 71, passed away at the family home, 1540 Humboldt Street, Sunday, February 6, (1949) Mr. Kemp had resided in this community for the past 16 years and was a retired Roundhouse Foreman for the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railroad. Deceased was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Bellingham Bay Lodge No. 44, F. & A. M., and International Association of Machinists, Lodge No. 239. Surviving relatives are the widow, Florence A., at home; two sons, Fred Jr., of Bellingham, and James T., of Everett; one daughter, Mrs. Maxine McKay, of Ferndale, and six grandchildren. KEMP, George Madison, age 71, passed away at the family home, 1217 Roland Street, Monday, August 17, (1953). Mr. Kemp had resided in this community for the past seven years and was a retired logger and member of the Snoqualmie Methodist Church. KEMP, Harry A., age 82 of Rt. 2, Blaine, passed away in a local hospital Thursday, Oct. 28, (1971). A lifetime resident of Blaine he was retired owner of Kemps Bakery and Kemps Motel of Blaine. He was a life member of BPOE Lodge No. 194. Surviving are his wife, Jeanie; 2 sons, Harry Jr., of Portland, William of Seattle; 2 grandsons. Also surviving are: step children: Ann Hutchinson, Muriel Schmidt, Robert James Williams; 11 step-grandchildren; 3 great-grand-children. KEMP, Helen Alma, age 44, of Blaine, passed away in Seattle Wednesday, March 28, (1951) following a lingering illness. Surviving relatives include her husband Harry Kemp, her mother, Mrs. Edith Shenefield, Kansas City, No.; one daughter, Mrs. Doris Fifer, in California; four sons, including George Davies, of Blaine; three brothers and several nieces and nephews. KEMP, James Thomas, age 50, 1509 E. Victor Street, passed away Wednesday, October 21, (1964). A twenty-year resident of this city, Mr. Kemp was a conductor for the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific Railroad, a life member of Bellingham Lodge, BPOE 194, and a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen. Survivors are one brother, Fred Kemp of Neptune Beach, and a sister, Mrs. George McKay of this city. KEMP, Laura May, age 59, passed away at the family home, 614 Maple Street, Sunday, June 9, (1946). Mrs. Kemp had resided in this community for the past 25 years and was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church. Surviving are the husband, Thomas, at home; three sons, Z. I. Loveall and D. S. Loveall, both of Bellingham, and Clarence Kemp, of Deming; one daughter, Mrs. Irene Pease, of Seattle, and one grandchild. KEMP, Lois Mae Fellows of Sedro-Woolley died at home Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998. She was 83. A private service was held. Burial was in Greenacres Memorial Park. Born Oct. 13, 1914, at Disciples of Christ Christian Orphanage in St. Louis, Mo., she was adopted in 1915 by John and Cora Fellows of Dixon, Ill. She graduated from Dixon High School in 1932 and attended Coppins Business College. She married Lyle Kemp July 6, 1948. He died in 1985. Mrs. Kemp moved to Sedro-Woolley in the 1940s and lived in Bellingham, King Cove, Alaska, Blaine and Lynden before returning to Sedro-Woolley in 1995. She worked as classified advertising manager at the Dixon Evening Telegraph from 1937 to 1947, in advertising sales at the Courier-Times in Skagit County, in the business office of Western Washington University and for Pacific American Fisheries in King Cove. Mrs. Kemp was an organist at First Christian Church in Illinois for 17 years, at st. James Episcopal Church in Skagit County and at Christ Episcopal Church in Blaine for 20 years. She also was a musician for Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley for five years. She served as president of the American Legion Auxiliary No. 43 in Sedro-Woolley, Peace Arch Unit No. 86 of American Legion in Blaine, and Second District of A.L.A. and was a Notary Public in Washington for 27 years. Mrs. Kemp was an avid reader, especially of current events. Survivors include daughter Mary Kemp of the family home, two grandchildren and several cousins.

KEMP, Lyle Le-Verne - Services were today for Lyle Le-Verne Kemp of Blaine, who died Tuesday (Oct. 29, 1985) at the age of 68. Mr. Kemp, who retired in 1982 from the U.S. Customs Service, was born March 13, 1917 in Nederland, Colo. Since his retirement he had operated an accounting and income tax service in Blaine. A veteran of World War II, he was past post commander of the American Legion Peach Arch Post 86, Blaine; a voyageur of Forty et Eight Voiture 112; a lay reader in the Christ Episcopal Church, Blaine. He also served as treasurer of Kulshan Lodge 186, F&AM, Blaine; secretary-treasurer of Northwest Patrons Club, Order of the Eastern Star; and was a member of the York Rite Masonic Bodies. He was the youngest Eagle Scout in the nation, having attained that rank at the age of 13. A requiem eucharist was at 11 a.m. today at Christ Episcopal Church, Blaine, with Rev. Hugh Barnes officiating. Burial with Masonic and military graveside services followed at Greenacres Cemetery.

KEMPFER, Minnie Adele, age 77, of 1014 Indian, passed away at a local hospital Tuesday, March 27, (1951) following an extended illness. Mrs. Kempfer had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 48 years. Surviving relatives include a son, William, of Bellingham; two daughters, Mrs. Lois E. LaVeille, of Bellingham, and Mrs. Marie Markham, of Bremerton; a brother, William Kugel, of Duluth, Minn.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Private services were conducted Thursday, March 29, at 2:30 p. m. within the chapel of the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home with the Rev. James Martyn Wilson officiating. Cremation. KEMPFER, William E., age 61, of 3024 Elm St., passed away in a local hospital Sunday, June 11, (1961). Mr. Kempfer had been a resident of this community for the past 58 years, was a veteran of W. W. II, was a member of the Machinist Union, and had been a machinist for P.A.F. and Columbia River Packers. Surviving relatives include the widow, Margaret at the family home; a sister, Mrs. Lois LaVeille of Bellingham and three nieces, Mrs. Donald Ebert of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Kenneth Murphy of Bremerton and Mrs. Marilyn Markham in California. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Rev. Norman B. Harrison Wednesday, June 14 at 10:30 a.m. Cremation.

KEMPHAUS, John "Jack" age 52 who resided at 927 16th, passed away at his summer home on Saturday, April 25, (1964). Mr. Kemphaus resided in Bellingham for the past 52 years and was a member of the Sacred Heart Church. He was a veteran of WWII and was employed at Friese Hide & Fur Company for many years. He leaves to survived his wife, Evelyn Kemphaus of the family home; his mother, Mrs. Mary Kemphaus; 1 brother, Joseph Kemphaus, all of Bellingham; numerous other relatives. Rosary will be recited Monday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Bingham & Jerns Funeral Home. Requiem High Mass will be said at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, in the Church of the Sacred Heart with the Rev. James Mallahan, celebrant. Interment will be made in Bay View Cemetery.

KEMPHAUS, Joseph, age 78 years, of 207 South Garden, passed away Saturday, April 26, (1952) in a local hospital following a lingering illness. Mr. Kemphaus was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, also a Charter member of the Knights of Columbus. He had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 55 years and married in 1905 to Mary Mallahan. He entered into business, Kemphaus and Company, in 1911. Mr. Kemphaus is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons, Joseph and Jack Kemphaus, both of Bellingham; and three grandsons, Danny, John and Joseph Kemphaus, all of Bellingham. Rosary will be said Monday, April 28, at 8 p. m. within the Chapel of the Bingham-Dahlquist Jerns Funeral Home. Requiem High Mass will be sung by the Pastor of Sacred Heart Church, Tuesday, April 29, at 9:30 a.m. within the Sacred Heart Church. Final resting place, Bay View Cemetery.
