IMHOF, Frank X., 83, of 5437 Imhof Road, Ferndale, died Saturday May 1, 1993 in Bellingham. He was born September 17, 1909 in Latham (sic), New Zealand to Frank and Anna Imhof. The family came to Ferndale in 1912. Mr. Imhof began buying, selling and butchering veal at the age of 16 and made weekly trips to Seattle to sell his wares. In his younger years, Frank was a Swiss wrestler, or "schwinger," and would proudly show off his "cauliflower" ear. He rode a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and bragged that he rode from Los Angeles, CA to Ashland, OR in 19 hours. This was in 1937. He will be remembered in Whatcom Co. for his square dance calling at various Grange dances. He married Patricia Sharkey in 1945 and purchased his dairy from his mother. Here the couple raised their 8 children and he worked until his retirement in1976. They moved "up the road" to a smaller farm and he raised cucumbers, corn and beef cattle until his death. Frank was a Whatcom Co. Soil
Conservation Supervisor for 40 years, long before conservation was a popular cause. He was a lifelong member and supporter of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ferndale and served as an usher for several years. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, Past Grand Knight and Past President of the Old Settlers Association. Frank was a loving husband, a giving and wonderful father, a proud grandfather, a good neighbor, loyal and trustworthy friend and a lover of children and animals. He was a football fan and loved to sing, yodel, play pinochle and
dance-especially a polka or a schottische. He enjoyed telling stories and always "happened to have one in his wallet." IMHOF, John, 93, was born April 5, 1908 in Stratford, New Zealand. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1911, settling with his family in Whatcom County. John's parents were Frank Bernard Imhof and Anna Schuler Imhof. He married Anne Marie Muller, May 11, 1935 in Pe Ell, WA. John owned Imhof Feed Company in Ferndale, from 1947 to 1963. He remained as manager until 1970 when he retired. John was preceded in death by: his wife Anne, father Frank, mother Anna, brothers: Joe, Frank, Albert, Adolph, Arnold, Carl, and sister Mary Moser. John is survived by his four children: Bonnie Schilter (Joe) of Spokane, John Imhof (Kay) of Ferndale, Linda Britschgi (Walt) of Holtville, CA, and Becky Iverson (Gary) of Snohomish sisters: Annie Brunz of Burlington, and Alice Widmer of Lathrop, CA 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive him. He loved fishing out in the Sound and taking many enjoyable trips with his wife, Anna. He traveled through Europe, visiting the birthplace of his parents and those of his wife's in Switzerland. Other trips included: Africa, Asia and much of the United States and the Canadian provinces. John is a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ferndale, a life member of Lions Club International, a past Trustee of the Old Settlers Association of Ferndale, and "President of Babe's Coffee Club. IMHOF, Marian Richey Sanders passed away July 21, 2006, one month short of her 91st birthday. She requested that her obituary be brief, printed with no picture, and published after her burial. Services were held Wednesday July 26, 2006 at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale. Marian was born August 21, 1915 on Lopez Island. She is survived by her seven children: Nick Sanders (Nancy); Ida Forsythe; March Plattner (John); Pete Sanders (Wanda); Karol Weston (Carl); Alex Sanders; Steve Sanders (Arlene). She is also survived by one of her six siblings, her brother, Romayne Ritchie (Mary) of Lopez Island. Marian had ten grandchildren: Jennifer, Joanna, Joe, Kathy, Nathan, Jason, Leann, Victor, Jessica, Justin, and nine great grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her husband of 27 years, Leo Sanders. In 1976 she married Joe Imhof, who passed away in 1981. Our Mother left us with this final quote: "I lived a grand life, not rich, but "grand." The best gift
you can have is to be born with a happy heart."

IMMEL, Wilbur T., Minneapolis, Minn., age 80, passed away in Minneapolis Tuesday, August 18, (1973). Mr. Immel was a retired barber. He was a member of Arcana Lodge No. 187 AF&AM, Shrine Temple and Scottish Rite Bodies, all in Minneapolis. Surviving are 4 daughters, Mrs. Peter Litzinger of Victorville, Calif.; Mrs. Justin Renk of Chula Vista, Calif.; Mrs. Paul Mattison and Mrs. Lanny Baumann, both of Minneapolis; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Marie Arnett, city and Mrs. Velma Guenther of Shafter, Calif. IMPERO, Patricia Miller, age 47 of Bellingham, WA, died September 5, 1998 at her residence. She was born May 28, 1951 in Bellingham, WA to Forrest and Dorothy (MacDonald) Whittaker. Patricia attended Assumption School and graduated from Holy Names High School, Oakland, CA. February 28, 1983 she married John Impero in Hula Hona, Hawaii. She lived the majority of her life in Whatcom Co. Patricia was a member of the Catholic Church and she enjoyed hunting, fishing, the great outdoors, crocheting, gardening and entertaining. She is survived by her husband, John Impero of Bellingham; daughters Stacy Miller, Brandy Miller, Shannon Burmeister all of Bellingham, and Gina Galfaus of Ft. Campbell, KY; sisters, Terri Foster of Sacramento, CA, Kathi Baker of Minden, NV, Beth Kellogg of Silver Springs, NV; father, Forrest Whittaker of Molokai, Hawaii; grandfather, Jack L. Johnson of Bellingham; and one grandchild, Anthony Burmeister. Memorial Services will be held at Westford Funeral Home Chapel 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1998. IMUS, Cornelia, 79, a resident of Bellingham for the past five years, died late Friday afternoon at the family home, 302 Gladstone street, following an illness of a month's duration. IMUS, John F., age 83 years, passed away at the home of his son, Wallace C. Imus, 1326 King Street, this city, yesterday afternoon, Thursday, August 27, (1936) after a brief illness. Mr. Imus had resided in Bellingham for the past five years, and leaves to survive, three daughters and three sons, Mrs. Mamie Kreuger, Snohomish, Wash.; Mrs. Alice Partlow, city; Mrs. Nellie Laxdal, Olympia, Wash.; Mr. Wallace C. Imus, Mr. Loren N. Imus, city and Mr. Fred L. Imus, Monroe, Wash.; also eleven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The remains are resting at the Bingham-Dahlquist Funeral Home, 210 Prospect Street where funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, August 29, at 2 o'clock, with Rev. A. O. Quall, pastor of the Fairhaven Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be made in Woodlawn Cemetery.

INGALLS, David Eric, 58, of Winthrop, WA lost his 18 month battle with brain cancer on September 10, 2004 after a brief stay at Stafholt Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Blaine, WA. Born September 24, 1945 to Robert Ingalls (deceased) and Sally Davis-Feenstra of Monroe, WA. David was a graduate of Meridian High School, class of 1964, and attended Pacific Lutheran College for 2 years. After college he served honorably in the U.S. Air Force from May 1966 to May 1972 and saw active duty during the Vietnam War. David was an active member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Bellingham local #40 before being incorporated into the Everett local #26. He was a member of the Bellingham chapter of the Moose Lodge #493. In his spare time he acted as a former girl's basketball scout for Skagit Valley College. Politically vocal, David loved to debate politics and other issues. He loved spending time with his family and friends. David loved all sports and was an avid golfer, fisherman, hunter and Seattle Mariners fan. David was baptized in the Baptist church. He will be greatly missed by all. Loved by many friends and family, he is survived by his wife Julie Ingalls; three step-sons, Steven Peters of Blaine, WA, John Harriman and Matt Harriman, both of Bellingham, WA; stepdaughters, Kathy Peters of

INGE, Douglas R. - Graveside committal services for Douglas R. Inge of Moses Lake, formerly of Bellingham, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Greenacres Memorial Park near Ferndale. Mr. Inge died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999 at his home. He was 64. Born July 26, 1935 to Charles Freeman and Janet (Irving) Inge in Vancouver, B.C., he grew up in California. Mr. Inge served in the U.S. Navy from the early 1950s until his retirement in 1971. Afterward, he earned a college degree and taught high school physics in New England before becoming a bio-medical engineer for the Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. In 1977, he moved to Bellingham. On Oct. 14, 1987, he married Linda K. Bonin in Reno, Nev. They moved to Moses Lake in 1995. Mr. Inge was an Eagles Aerie member. He loved his Harley Davison motorcycle and going on adventures. Survivors include his wife of the family home; sons Steven, Charles, David and Timothy Inge; sisters Beverley Margaret Davies; brother Charles Noel Inge; half-sister Jocelan Tracey; and many grandchildren and nieces and nephews. INGE, Ruth Margaret "Marg", 77, 1420 32nd St., died at St. Francis Extended Care Facility on Thursday, Sept. 17, 1992. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Greenacres Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Greenacres Memorial Park with the Rev. Keith Madsen officiating. Born Sept. 8, 1915 in Bellingham, she was the daughter of Robert Nichols and Ruth Nichols Byrnes and the stepdaughter of Horace Byrnes. She was a 1933 graduate of Whatcom High School and was a lifelong resident of Bellingham. She married William Inge in 1936. He died in 1980. Mrs. Inge was a former Bellingham Warehouse Company employee. She also worked for the Port of Bellingham and Ray Lehn, C.P.A. She was active in the First Baptist Church, Phase II, the YWCA, and the Emblem Club, B.P.O.E. No. 194 in Bellingham. Swimming and walking were among her hobbies. Survivors include sons Robert Inge and Steven Inge of Bellingham; brothers Richard Byrnes of Bellingham and Robert Byrnes of Otis, Ore; six grandchildren; one great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

INGELS, Bryce Laroy, age 44, of 7138 Bartlett Lane, Lynden, WA, passed away at St. Josephs Hospital on Thursday, September 17, 1998. Mr. Ingels has been a resident of Whatcom County for the past 33 years. He was project manager for the John Daniels Construction Company. Mr. Ingels enjoyed playing hockey in high school and was a winner of the Nationals. He was devoted to his family and his two daughters with whom he traveled the West coast extensively. He leaves to survive his wife Mary Ingels, two daughters, Jamie Lee, and Josie Gabrielle of the family home in Lynden His Mother, Marjories Santos of Lynden and Father, Jim Ingels of Ferndale, two brothers, Rich Sherwood of Louisiana, Monte Sherwood of Edmonton, Canada. INMAN, James Russell, 91, 3121 Squalicum Parkway, died Monday (July 15, 1991) in Bellingham. He was born April 15, 1900 in Midland, Mich., and lived in Cleveland, Ohio, before coming to Whatcom County 20 years ago. He was an executive supervisor for Clark Restaurant in Cleveland for 44 years. He owned Inman's Restaurant there for nine years. Survivors include his wife, Mary Inman of Bellingham; a daughter, Mary Davies of Everson; three grandsons; and three great-grandchildren. Family memorial services are scheduled. His body will be cremated. Arrangements are by Jones-Moles Funeral Home.
INNES, Frances Anne, age 6 years, passed away in the Ranier Hospital in Buckley, Friday, April 6, (1951). She is survived by her parents, Mrs. Catherine Innes, 1012 Cornwall Avenue, and Mr. C. D. Innes, of Alaska; a sister, Suzanne, the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank H. Johnson, Bellingham, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles S. Innes, Bremerton; two great aunts, Mrs. Catherine Charroin, city, and Mrs. E. H. Stokes, Renton, Wash. Services were conducted Tuesday, April 10, at 3 p.m. at the Stokes Mortuary in Renton. Graveside services were conducted by the Rev. Canon E. B. Smith Thursday, April 12 at 3 p.m. at Bay View under the direction of the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth.
INNIS, Mae, a resident of the Ferndale district for over thirty years, passed away in a local hospital, Wednesday, July 7, (1948) following a lingering illness. She is survived by one nephew, John Jenet, of Chicago. Rosary will be said at St. Joseph's Church, Ferndale, Friday evening, July 9, at 8 o'clock (standard time). Requiem mass will be said at the church, Saturday morning, July 10, at 10 o'clock, with the Rev. Father William O'Brien officiating. IRBY, Irene Angeline, 84, of Sedro-Woolley, died at her home on Monday, January 13, 1997. She was born on December 13, 1912 in Lincoln, Nebraska, the daughter of Edward F. & Arlea J. (Lobaugh) von Busch. She was raised and attended school in Nebraska. She moved to Sacramento, CA in 1938. She was united in marriage to Clyde Irby in 1946 & they made their home in Sacramento until 1955 when they moved to San Jose. They then moved to Modesto, CA in 1984 & Bellingham in 1989. Mr. Irby preceded her in death in 1990. She moved to Skagit County in 1991. Mrs. Irby was devoted to her family and her church. She was very active in her churches in both California & Washington. She was a teacher for the C.E.F. for several years. She was member of the Calvary Chapel of Skagit Valley in Mount Vernon. She is survived by a son & daughter-in-law, Clyde & Suzanne Irby of Burlington, 2 daughters & sons-in-laws, Joni & Johan von Kesteren of Bellingham & Kelli & David Wade of Hollister, CA. There are also numerous grand & great grandchildren and nieces & nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by several brothers & sisters. IREDALE, Thomas E., age 56 of Lynden, WA, passed away June 7, 2003 at his home. He was born in Port Angeles on Dec. 17, 1946 to Stanley and Agnus Iredale. Both of whom have predeceased him. He is survived by his wife of 30 yrs., Virginia (Jenny). Sons and daughter-in-laws, Vincent and Karen DeMerice; Nathan and Monica Iredale all of Lynden. Sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Paul Lovelace of Bellingham; brother and sister-in-law Robin and Kathy Iredale of Port Angeles. Four grandchildren, Kashia, Kendall, Jeter and Nathan II. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and stepmother Pat Iredale of Port Angeles. Thomas graduated from
Bellingham High School and was a Vietnam Veteran. He worked at Ershing (sic) Fiberglass of Bellingham for the past 35 yrs. Tom was a volunteer with the Whatcom County Search and Rescue 4x4 unit for over 20 yrs. He had previously been a member of the Fun City Jeep Club. Graveside services will be at 12:30 p.m. on June 14 at Ten Mile Cemetery. There will be a memorial immediately after at the home of Larry and Jeannie Olson, 492 E. IRELAND, Michael C. – A celebration of life for family and friends of Michael Charles Ireland of Bellingham will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Adult Center in Sudden Valley (Gate 2). Mr. Ireland died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000 at St. Joseph Hospital from complications caused by head injuries following a fall. He was 47. Born Sept. 21, 1953 to Mel and Geraldine (Poisson) Ireland in New London, Conn., he moved with his family to Las Vegas in 1965. In 1991, he moved to Portland, Ore. where he met his future wife, Robin Small. They moved to Bellingham in 1991. Mr. Ireland was a painter and printmaker whose work reflected nature, especially the Pacific Northwest. A retrospective of his work is planned for a later date. An accomplished guitarist, he also enjoyed gardening, woodworking and cooking. His mother died previously. Survivors include his wife of Bellingham; father and stepmother Mel and Jean Ireland of Hanford, Calif.; brother Steven Ireland of Henderson, Nev.; and sister Susan Ireland of Hanford. Arrangements are by Jerns Funeral Chapel.

IRISH, Adalyn H. of Bellingham died Sunday, Feb. 6, 1994, at Highland Convalescent Center. She was 90. Private family graveside services will be held at Greenacres Memorial Park. Born Feb. 4, 1904 to Thomas and Lucretia Murrey Jurin in Bird Island, Minn., she married Carl Irish in 1924 in Winlock. A Whatcom County resident for 70 years, she played organ at First Congregational Church in Bellingham and served locally a executive director of the Polio Foundation in the'40s and '50s. Her husband died in 1970. Survivors include niece Sarah Gustafson of Freeland; two great-nephews; and one great-niece. Arrangements by Greenacres Funeral Home and Crematorium.

IRISH, Lewis W. - Private funeral services were held Monday for Lewis W. Irish, 84, of 1509 E. Victor St., who died here Saturday. He had resided in this community for the past 56 years and was a retired painter and farmer. He leaves to survive two son, Carl L., of this city and Leroy W. of Salt Lake city. Also one aunt, Mrs. Lulu Morse of Hartwick, N.Y.; a niece, Mrs. Doria Black of Greig, N.Y.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services were held at the Westford, Funeral Home with Dr. W. Carl Calhoun officiating. Cremation followed.
IVERSON, Dora J. passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, October 31, 2009, at the age of 87. She was born January 30, 1922, to Oscar and Lena Ebe and raised on the family's potato farm in Custer. She graduated from Lynden High School in 1940 and completed nursing training at St. Joseph's Hospital followed by work as a surgical nurse. She married Leo Iverson in November, 1945 and together raised 6 children. Dora was a mom, a caregiver, always patient with a quiet, loving demeanor. She was a beautiful seamstress, beginning as a young teen making outfits for her younger siblings and then for her own children. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family and being involved in her church. She attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ferndale and was a member of St. Teresa's Guild. She spent many hours helping with and preparing for activities at the church. She loved her travels to Europe, the Holy Lands, the Bahamas, and especially those with her family to the Kiahuna Beach Resort on Kauai, Hi. Even as her physical health declined she never complained. People would ask her how she was doing and her reply was always "hanging in there" with a smile and cheery eyes, even on her worst day. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Iverson; brother, Aloys Ebe; and sister, Verona Harbaugh. She is survived by her sisters, Fran Bryant, Irene Ballode, and Edith Brown; brother, Leonard Ebe; her children, Laura Irwin and Greg, Custer, Jan Iverson and Russ Summerlin, Arlington, Tom Iverson and Brenda, Custer; Kris Walbrun and Nick, Custer; Jerry Iverson, Ferndale, and Nancy Griffith and Leo of Portland; grandchildren include Kodi Iverson, Reed and Josie Summerlin, Mariah and Vanessa Griffith. Also numerous brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; and her two granddogs Riley and Cory. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 5th, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Moles Funeral Home, 2039 Main St., Ferndale with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 6th at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ferndale with burial following at Greenacres Memorial Park. IVERSON, Gilbert F., 72, a well-known lumber merchant, died Wednesday (Oct. 15, 1986) at a local hospital. Mr. Iverson, 9147 Statvolt Road, Blaine, was born Dec. 19, 1913 in Bellingham. He married Opal Syre June 20, 1942 in Lawrence. Mr. Iverson was a co-owner of Iverson Lumber Co. on the Birch Bay-Lynden Road, from 1918 to 1960. He also had been an owner of Iverson Supply Co. in Bellingham from 1961 to 1970. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, the Bellingham Bay Lodge No. 44 F&AM, the Northwest Shrine club, the Nile Temple in Seattle and the Bellingham B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 194. He had been a member of the Ferndale School Board and was active with scouting organizations in the Custer Area. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in the Northwest and Canada. Survivors include his wife Opal of the family home; two sons, Gordon of Blaine and Gary of Snohomish; two daughters, Helen Ann Iverson of Idaho and Ilene Green of Woodinville; a brother, Bill Iverson of Ferndale; two sisters, Adeline Brown of Bellingham, Adamae Ebebe of Ferndale; and two grandchildren. Visitation hours were to be from noon to 8 pm today and from 9 am to noon Friday at Jerns and LeVeck Funeral Chapel. Private, family memorial services will be held Friday at Jerns and LeVeck Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Harold Minkler officiating. Burial will be in Greenacres Memorial Park.

IVERSON, Leo L. - A rosary will be said for Leo L. Iverson at 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Jack Buckalew officiating. Mr. Iverson, 66, former co-owner of Iverson Lumber Co. and later owner of Iverson Supply Co., died Saturday (Nov. 26, 1988) in Blaine. Mr. Iverson, a Ferndale resident, was born Jan. 3, 1922 in Custer where he lived until 1983. He and his wife, Dora, then moved to Ferndale. He was married on Nov. 24, 1945. He owned Iverson Lumber Co. in Custer along with his brother Gilbert until 1960. From 1960-1973 he owned Iverson Supply Co. in Bellingham. After 1973, he was involved in real estate and land development. He enjoyed fishing on the west side of Vancouver Island and also was an avid hunter and boater. He was a member of the Custer Sportsman Club, the Knights of Columbus and the Bellingham Yacht Club. He was also a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ferndale. Besides his wife, survivors include four daughters, Laura Irwin and Kris Walbrun, both of Custer, and Jan Iverson and Nancy Iverson, both of Portland, Ore.; two sons, Jerry Iverson and Tom Iverson, both of Custer; and two sisters, Adeline Brown of Bellingham and Idamae Ebe of Ferndale. A brother, Gilbert Iverson, and a sister, Florence Olden, died earlier. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Jack Buckalew officiating. IVERSON, Opal Ilene - Services for Blaine resident Opal Ilene Iverson, 70, a graduate of St. Luke's School of Nursing, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Jerns & LeVeck Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Harold Minkler officiating. Mrs. Iverson died Friday (Aug. 26, 1988). She married her late husband, Gilbert Iverson, on June 20, 1942. She was a lifelong resident of the area who graduated from Mount Baker High School in 1935. She was an active volunteer for various church, school and community activities. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Custer, the Emblem Club, the Bellingham Elks, Tall Ladies of the Elks, Zenobia Club No. 2, Daughters of the Nile Hatasu Temple No. 1, the St. Luke's Assistance League and Alunni Association, the Aftermath Club and the Cardinal Rebecca Lodge No. 154. Survivors include two sons, Gordon Iverson of Bellingham and Gary Iverson of Snohomish; two daughters, Helen Ann Iverson of Idaho and Ilene Green of Woodinville; a brother, Carroll Syre of Port Angeles; a sister, Clara Anderson of Clearbrook; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. IVERSON, Vernita E. - Memorial services for Mrs. Vernita E. Iverson, 302 LaVilla Drive, Lynden, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Lynden United Methodist Church with the Rev. Miles W. Jackson officiating. Burial services will be at noon Wednesday at Greenacres Memorial Park. Mrs. Iverson died Saturday (Oct. 19, 1985) in Bellingham. She was 80 years old. Mrs. Iverson was born April 24, 1905, and was a lifetime resident of Whatcom County. She was a former postmistress of the Bellingham Post Office and was secretary of the Northwest Washington Fair for 11 years. She was a member of the Lynden United Methodist Church, a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of 8et40, an organization of past presidents of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Clamdiggers Association, the Lynden Senior Activities Center and performed many other civic activities. Surviving are three daughters, including Mrs. Terry Norton and Mrs. Nikki Ranard, both of Lynden; eight grandchildren; three brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews.

IRWIN, Amy M., age 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on the evening of May 2nd, (2008). She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was born March 2, 1917, in Custer, Washington, to Frank and Rose Conn. She married the love of her life, Mickey, on November 5, 1939, who preceded her in death on September 5, 2007. They worked side by side as owners of Irwin Hardware for 34 years. She was involved in Ferndale Community for many years, but her genuine devotion was to her family. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and entertaining for family and friends. Surviving Amy are daughters, Sheryl (Rick) Stefanson, Karen (Werner) Gerhardt, and son, Greg (Laura) Irwin. Grandchildren, Kurt Stefanson, Kim (Jim) Monson, Keith (Robin) Stefanson, Greg Ferry, and Jeff Ferry. Great-grandchildren, Craig and Brad Monson, Kelsie Ferry, Blake and Olivia Stefanson, and Marin and Drew Wheeler. Amy's family would like to thank the doctors; caregivers, Lisa, Linda, Fay, and Tracy; Whatcom Hospice, and her many friends who called or came to see her. IRWIN, Clifford C. "Cliff," 86, 1904 Mount Baker Highway, died Wednesday at his home. Born Aug. 9, 1898 in northeastern Nebraska, he came to Bellingham in 1910 with his parents, A. N. "Archie" and Ella Irwin. Mr. Irwin worked in the dry kiln at the Bloedel-Donovan mill called "Big Ole" on the Bellingham waterfront for many years. After the mill closed in the late 1940s, he worked at various jobs. He had been confined to his home for the past three to four years. Survivors include two brothers, Home and Gordon Irwin of Bellingham; a sister Lois Fisher of Seattle; and numerous nieces and nephews. At his request, no services will be held. There will be cremation under direction of Jones Funeral Home and Crematorium, with inurnment of ashes to be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

IRWIN, Edythe L., age 88, of Bellingham, WA, passed away Monday, March 10, 1997 in Bellingham. She was born March 22, 1908 in Fonda, Iowa to Van & Elizabeth (Busby) Sargent. A Whatcom Co. resident for 74 years, Mrs. Irwin was a member of Maple Leaf Chapter #58, O.E.S. and St. James Presbyterian Church. She and her husband Homer loved to travel and visited 49 states. They spent 12 winters in Arizona. Survived by her husband, Homer; daughter, Carol & husband Harry Pagels of Bellingham; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; brother, Van E. Mr. Irwin was a member of Birch Bay Grange of Blaine. He loved sports, especially bowling and golf. IRWIN, Janet - Private family services will be held at a later date for Janet Lou Irwin, age 61 of Sequim, WA. Janet passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer, at the family home (June 27, 1997), she was surrounded by her husband and children at the end of her life here on earth. She was born Oct. 28, 1935 in Bellingham, WA to Lyle and Bernice Brownrigg. She attended Bellingham High School, then worked for Whatcom County Physicians Services. Many friends knew her as a long time employee at Tom-Tom's grocery until the store closed forever in 1990. She was a Member of the Bellingham V.F.W. National Championship Drill Team in the late 50's, a past President of the Agnew Homemakers Club, Pioneer Partner Representative for Olympic View Telephone Pioneers of America, and a volunteer at the Sequim-Dungeness Chamber of Commerce. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, and making artificial flower arrangements. She loved camping in the family R.V. and being with her children. She is survived by her husband Bill at the family home, sons John of Auburn, Mark of Mountlake Terrace, Mike of Edmonds and daughter Karolyn at home, her twin brother Jack Brownrigg of Bellingham and older brother Richard Brownrigg of Bend, Oregon. Harper-Ridgeview Funeral is in charge of arrangements.
IRWIN, James A. of 6153 Metcalf Road, Bellingham, died at home Saturday, April 2, 1994. He was 64. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Gillies Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Gillies Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Jim Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Ten Mile Cemetery. Mr. Irwin was born March 28, 1930 to Jennie Cooper and Robert Irwin in St. Johns New Brunswick. After two years of college, he served for 13-1/2 years in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He then worked for General Telephone in Ventura, Calif. for 25 years, retiring in 1989. At that point, he and his wife, Grace, moved to Whatcom County. The two had married in June 1954 in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. Mr. Irwin was a member of the Church of England; the Communications Workers of America; the Canadian Legion; the Cryptic masonic Lodge No. 15 and Knights Templar No. 18, both of Ventura; and the Al Malaikah Shrine Temple of Los Angeles. Survivors include his wife of the family home; daughter Jennifer Irwin of Portland, Ore.; brother Robert Irwin of LaSalle, Quebec; a granddaughter and other relatives.

IRWIN, Josephine "Jo" (Reese), 90, passed away at the Christian Health Care Center in Lynden on Saturday, February 12, 2005. Jo was born April 17, 1914 to George & Martha Reese at the family home in Point Whitehorn. She graduated from Blaine High School, and then worked in Seattle and at Pacific American Fisheries in Bellingham. She married Roy S. (Pat) Irwin on Dec. 18, 1937. They celebrated 50 yrs. of marriage shortly before his death in 1988. They farmed on the Bay Road for many years. She lived her entire life in Whatcom County except for ten years in Pasco, WA because of Pat's health. Jo returned to Whatcom County in 1989, settling in Lynden where she was active in Lynden Church of the Nazarene. It was there she met Ted Zawicki, her dear friend & "sweetheart" for the last ten years. Mrs. Irwin was a homemaker who loved people and always had time for others. Jo was preceded in death by her husband; her son Roy (Sam); her parents; brothers Bendy & Glenn Reese; sisters Katherine Kline & Ruth Seiter, & and infant daughter, Joy Annette. Mrs. Irwin is survived by sons William (Sally) Irwin of Blaine, Kenneth (Ellen) Irwin of Olympia, WA; daughter Betty (Ken) Guthrie of Westminster, CO; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; dear friend Ted Zawicki; and numerous other relatives. IRWIN, Leila J. of Bellingham died at home Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997. She was 95. No local service will be held. Burial will be in Friday Harbor. Born April 19, 1902, to L. A. and Callie Brodie Borchers at Dungeness Light Station, she grew up at Stuart Island Station. She married Clarence Irwin on June 26, 1926, in Bellingham. Mrs. Irwin was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include daughter Carol Ericsson of Bellingham, son Phillip Irwin of Tucson, Ariz., five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was born July 3, 1958, in Glendale, CA to Elmer and Bonita Kay (Bushnell) Christner and had been a Whatcom County resident for 20 years. She married John Irwin on June 28, 1997, in Ferndale. Pamela loved her family, fishing, camping, plants, playing her guitar and piano and making others happy. She had a good heart, loved people, listening to Christian music and always wanted to help troubled teens. She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. IRWIN, Theodore Charles - Services for Theodore "Ted" Charles Irwin, 85, of 3141 Coolidge Drive, who died Thursday (Jan. 31, 1980) in Garden Grove, Calif., will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Jones Funeral Home. Burial in Greenacres Memorial Park will follow. Born in Lebanon, Ore., Sept. 5, 1894, he had been a resident of Whatcom County for 45 years. A retired local businessman, he was a life member of the Elks, a veteran of World War I, and a member of the American Legion. She had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 6 years and leaves to survive 1 son, Mr. Harvey Isaacson Jr., Portland; 1 sister, Mrs. Olivia Toreen of Bellingham; also 2 sisters in Finland; 1 granddaughter in Kent; numerous nieces and nephews. ISABELLE, Theodore Eugene - A funeral Mass for Theodore Eugene Isabelle of Bellingham will be celebrated at noon today at Church of the Assumption. Burial will be in Greenacres Memorial Park with military honors by Albert J. Hamilton Post No. 7, American Legion. Mr. Isabelle died Sunday, May 22, 1997, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was 78. Born Oct. 10, 1918, to Clementine and Eugene Isabelle in New Bedford, Mass., his first jobs were delivering milk for Roger's Dairy and cleaning weaving looms in New Bedford textile mills. He married Beatrice Livesey in 1937. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Isabelle served in the Navy on the USS Tasik and USS Sandsucker. He owned a gas station and a hardware store in Torrance, Calif., and retired from Torrance Municipal Pool in 1983. Mr. Isabelle moved to Bellingham in 1995. He enjoyed people, music, fishing, horse racing and the view of Bellingham Bay. He waws preceded in death by one sister and three brothers. Survivors include son Robert Isabelle of Twin Falls, Idaho; daughter Carol Biery Jr. of Bellingham; sister Dorothy Deschamps of New Bedford; brother Roland Isabelle of New Bedford; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. ISAMAN, Darcy Wayne born Dec 24, 1942 in Minnesota, died Sunday, Jan 12, 2003 in Seattle, WA at
Harborview Hospital. He left peacefully with his daughters at his side. He was preceded in death by his father Darcy Isaman and his mother Evelyn Isaman. He is survived by his daughter Tandie McClellan and husband Ty; his daughter Darbie Isaman; his brother Ron Reade; his granddaughter Brookelyn McClellan; his best friends Larry Zettle, Steve Brewster, Myrelon Isaman, and many more special friends whom he loved. Darcy owned and ran The Teriyaki Bar restaurant in downtown Bellingham, where he spent most of his time. In Darcy's younger years he was an avid snow and water skier, later in his life he enjoyed roller blading, Sunday night dinners made with plenty of garlic, a glass of wine, and a good movie. Darcy loved Lake Whatcom, where he lived most of his life, but his most prized possessions were his daughters and granddaughter. There will be a celebration of his life on Jan 26, 2003 at The Teriyaki Bar in Bellingham from 2-5 p.m.

ISLER, Opal V. - A memorial service for Opal V. Isler will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Bellingham Senior Activity Center. Mrs. Isler died Sunday, Feb. 23, 1997. She was 87. She was born June 12, 1909, to Curtis and Grace Stone in White City, Kan. Mrs. Isler was preceded in death by her husband James Isler, and children Violet Mann, Louis Beach and Edith Brittle. Survivors include sons Bob Beach of Live Oak, Calif., Leon Beach of Bellingham and Larry Beach of Tacoma, daughters Joyce Truesdail of Berkshire, N.Y., and Loyce Cracraft of Queen Valley, Ariz., 29 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
ISOM, Elbert R., 87, of Lynden, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1992 at home. Visitation will be until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday at Gillies Funeral Home. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Lynden United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Joyce O'Connor officiating. Burial will precede services at 12:15 p.m. in Lynden Cemetery. Mr. Isom was born April 23, 1905, in Murphysboro, Ill., to Albert and Orsa Wayland Isom. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1927 and obtained his master's degree and superintendent credentials at the University of Washington. He married his wife Marie in 1928 and moved to Lynden in 1930, where he taught and coached basketball at Lynden High School until 1946. He was promoted to principal in 1950 and to superintendent in 1954. He retired in 1967. Mr. Isom was a member of the First
Presbyterian Church, a past master of the Lynden Masonic Lodge, a past patron of the Lynden Order of Eastern Star, a 30-year judge of the Lynden Fishing Derby and the annual Lynden Plowing Match. The Elbert R. Isom Intermediate School was named in his honor in 1989. Survivors include his wife Marie Isom of Lynden; daughters Jessie Marie Peterson of California and Luanne Mills of Seattle; sister-in-law Jessie Loney of Bellingham; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

ISOM, Marie of Lynden died at St. Joseph Hospital on Wednesday, April 30, (2003). She was 97. Visitation hours will be from 1 to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 2, at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. Graveside services will be at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, in Lynden Cemetery followed by funeral services at 10 a.m. in the Lynden United Methodist Church with Rev. Willem Romeign officiating. Born October 26, 1905 in Murphysboro, Illinois, she was the daughter of Charles and Jennie (Payne) Perschbacher and was married to Elbert R. Isom, former Superintendent of the Lynden School District, on December 2, 1928 and in 1930 moved to Lynden. She is survived by her daughters Jessie Marie Peterson and husband Robert of Santa Clara, CA and Luanne Mills and husband John of Seattle; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a sister, Jessie Loney of Bellingham.
During World War II Marie not only went into the berry fields to pick, but also ran the front office at the cannery. She later worked at the former Lynden Department Store as a buyer, sales clerk and alterations lady. When she retired they had to hire two people to take her place. One of her favorite lines was "I never asked for a job, someone always asked me to come to work." She was a member of the Lynden United Methodist Church, The P.E.O. of Lynden and for more than fifty years was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was an excellent cook, seamstress and bridge player and won many ribbons at the Northwest Washington Fair; her last one in 2002 at age 96 for her tatted handkerchiefs. Marie was a friend to many and loved by all. Services are under the care of Gillies Funeral Home.

ISON, Sean Spencer was born September 12, 1967, in Seattle, WA. On March 15, 2006, he reached the end of his chosen course of life for distant shores beyond the earth's horizons. His childhood years on Bainbridge Island were full of happy enthusiasm. He moved to Bellingham, WA in 1980 and was nurtured by his grandparents, Dick and Dottie Hooper, and newfound friends. He loved water sports, especially sailing the waters of the Northwest, Pacific Coast and Mexico. Sean was enterprising in a variety of marketing venues and willingly shared his talents with others. He will be remembered as loyal, goodhearted and generous. Sean is survived by his parents and family, Pamela Hooper and Spencer F. Ison, aunt Tamara Scott, cousin Perry Prescott, and many cousins. Sean's legacy will be his wealth of friends in the Northwest and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, especially Steven Springer, Nikila Knotts, and Howard Herin and their extended families. A gathering of family and friends will be at the Squalicum Boathouse (in Zuanich Point Park) Wednesday, March 29, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

ISTED, Donald Leslie II of Sed-Woolley, WA, passed away on February 17, 2006, in Sedro-Woolley. He was 34 years old, born November 28, 1971 in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Don will be remembered as a loving and creative man, one who loved nature and crafting things with his hands. He is survived by his son Jacob, parents Donald Isted and Judy Isted, and sister Anjanette Allard. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 23, in the Bayview Chapel at the funeral home, with visitation from 1 p.m. until the service time.

IVERSON, Bessie B. (Clow), age 83, of Everson, passed away on Friday, Aug. 8, 2003 at the Christian Health Care Center in Lynden. A daughter of Harrison B. and Bertha (Barb) Clow, Bessie was born in Everson on Sept. 21, 1919. She lived her entire life in Whatcom County, working at Hilda's Shop-Rite and National Bank of Commerce in Everson. She was a past member of the Everson Fire Department Auxiliary and during the old Everson Fall Festival spent many hours helping in the hamburger stand. She loved camping and especially going to "The Property" for weekends of camping with friends and family. She was also a very active member of the Puget Sound Wheelers RV Club and she and her husband Bud traveled the USA in their RV. Bessie loved people and was always there to help when anyone needed her. Bessie is survived by her husband, Earl (Bud) Iverson, whom she married on May 10, 1942 in Seattle; daughters Sharon A. and husband Roy Trull of Everson and Shirley L. and husband Barry Young of Portland; sister Mary Alice LaFreniere of Bellingham; grandsons Matthew and Nathaniel Young; step-granddaughters Kimberly and husband David Collins, Laura and husband Mark Hinds and their son Nicholas Hinds, Lynn and husband Corne' deLeeuw and Amanda Young; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. We will miss her, but remember all the great times we had and all the wonderful things she did for us. She is now resting comfortably. Graveside services were conducted by Pastor Bill VandenBos on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 1 p.m. in Nooksack Cemetery. Services were under the care of Gillies Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Lynden.

IVIE, Ernest Clifford, age 84, passed away at his home, 2221 E. Birch, December 27, (1997). He was born in Amber, Oklahoma, on July 7, 1913, and moved to Bellingham, WA in 1950. He served in WWII, landed on Utah Beach during the invasion of Normandy, and was awarded the Bronze Star. He met Barbara and they were married on January 23, 1948 in Omak, WA. They owned and operated the Downtowner restaurant on Holly St. for a number of years. He later retired as a painting contractor. Mr. Ivie was a member of the Community Bible Fellowship and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Mr. Ivie is survived by his wife Barbara of the family home; sons Stephen and wife Stacy Ivie of Thorton, CO; John and wife Danette Ivie of Everson WA; two granddaughters: Jennifer Baker of Virginia Beach, VA and Elise of Everson, WA; two grandsons: Christopher of Everson, WA, and Kendall of Thorton, CO; three brothers: Charles Ivie of Chickasha, OK, Robert Ivie of Nowata, OK, and James Ivie of Tulsa, OK; three sisters: Eleatha Estes of Wenatchee, WA, Martha Carpenter of Merritt Island, FL, and Jean Buelow of Missoula, MT; numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be Friday, January 2, 1998, at 1 p.m. at Greenacres Memorial Park. A memorial service will be Saturday, January 3, 1998 at 11 a.m. at Community Bible Fellowship with Pastor Steve Schroeder officiating. Arrangements by Jones-Moles Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
