HENIFIN, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Henifin of 2253 Pacific Street, passed away at birth Friday, April 9, (1954). Besides the parents, surviving relatives include three sisters, Wanda, Billie and Valerie, all at the family home; the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Darl Grossage of Bridgeport, and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Henifin of Bellingham, and many aunts and uncles including Mrs. George Ewing, Mrs. Bonnie Pike and Bill Henifin, all of Bellingham, and Jimmy Gossage (sic) of Bridgeport. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth wwhere private services were conducted Wednesday, April 14, at 3 p.m. Cremation.

HENIFIN, Art - Funeral Services for Art Henifen, 81, who raised, bred and broke horses, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Westford Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Willert officiating. Mr. Henifen died Sunday (May 1, 1988) at his home at 4821 Noon Road. He was born Aug. 28, 1906, in Bristow, Neb., was married there to Chloe Taylor in 1925, and moved to Bellingham in 1945. He was a member of the International Machinists Union for 35 years and a member of Washington Horse Breeders. Mr. Henifen farmed 320 acres of Nebraska land, hauled sugar beets to a sugar mill in Fort Collins, Colo., where he also worked for Portland Cement Co. In Washington, he worked for Bellingham Chain & Forge and several shipyards along the Bellingham waterfront, where he helped to build minesweepers. He also was an engineer for the Johannesburg fold mine in Marblemount from 1949 to 1952, and was employed by Skagit steel and Everett Gear. Survivors include two sons, Bill and Lloyd Henifen, both of Bellingham; a daughter, Bonnie Lee Pike, of Bellingham; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

HENIFIN, Beulah A. - Services for Beulah A. Henifin, 78, of Bellingham, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Jeff Morrissette officiating. Burial will follow at Greenacres Funeral Home. Mrs. Henifin, 202 N. 34th St., died Thursday (Jan. 18, 1990). She was born Jan. 7, 1912, in Clome, S.D. Mrs. Henifin had been a Whatcom County resident since 1940 who attended New Life Fellowship. Her husband, Calvin W., and two children, Patricia and Jimmy, have died. Survivors include: two sons, Calvin W. Jr. of Toppenish and Jack of Sacramento, Calif.; three granddaughters; three step-granddaughters; two sisters, Marguerite Parchell of O'Neill, Neb., and Mildred Kraft of Cozad, Neb.; and nieces and nephews.

HENIFIN, Calvin W., 90, 1212 Grant St., died Tuesday (Oct. 27, 1987) in Bellingham. Mr. Henifin was born Feb. 21 1897 in Nebraska and lived in Whatcom County for 47 years. He attended the New Life Fellowship of Bellingham. Survivors include his wife, Beulah, of the family home; two sons, Calvin W. Henifin, Jr. of Toppenish and Jack Henifin of Sacramento, Calif.; a brother, Arthur Henifin of Bellingham; three granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Jeff Morrissette officiating. Burial will be in Greenacres Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home.

HENIFIN, Calvin W. Jr., age 44, of Harrah, WA, passed away Mon. Jan. 29, 1990. Raised in Whatcom County, Mr. Henifin graduated from Nooksack Valley High School; was a dairy farmer and cattle buyer; lived in Portland, OR over 15 years and Eastern Washington for 4 years. Survived by his wife Donna of Vancouver, WA; 3 daughters, Parry Sue Henifin of Portland, OR; Ingrid Henifin and Shannon Henifin, both of Seaside, OR; brother, Gary "Jack" and wife Sharon Henifin of Sacramento, CA. HENIFIN, Chloe H., 80, 4821 Noon Road, died Friday (Aug. 2, 1985). Born on Jan. 15, 1905, in Nebraska, she moved to Bellingham in 1944. Mrs. Henifin worked for Bellingham Furniture Co., Bornstein Cannery and as a nurse's aide. Survivors include her husband, Arthur; two sons, Bill of Bellingham, and Lloyd of Soap Lake; one daughter, Bonnie Lee Pike of Bellingham; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Westford Funeral Home chapel, followed by burial in Greenacres Memorial Park.

HENIFIN, Donovan M., age 53 of Olympia, passed away Monday, Feb. 7, (1977) at an Olympia hospital. Mr. Henifin belong[ed] to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd and the Ham National Relay Operators. He is survived by his wife, Colleen; 1 son Vernon of Aberdeen; 4 daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Jean) Pitt, Mrs. Gerald (Eileen) Bates both of Bellingham, Miss Beverly Henifin of Seattle, and Miss Eva Henifin of Olympia; 1 brother, Bob; 2 sisters, Mrs. Carl Harmon and Mrs. Donald Murdzia all of Bellingham; his mother, Mrs. Ethel Henifin; 3 grandchildren. Services will be held Wed., Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Olympia. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Under the direction of the Selen Mortuary, Olympia.

HENIFIN, Ethel Evelyn, age 86, of Bellingham passed away Wed., Mar. 17, 1993, at St. Francis Extended Health Care in Bellingham. She was born October 9, 1906 in Scottville (sic), Nebraska to George and Nellie Stanton Sanders. She married Madison Henifin on April 24, 1924 in Yankton, South Dakota and he preceded her in death on July 20, 1967. Mrs. Henifin was a volunteer at the Senior Center and enjoyed gardening and crocheting. She resided in Whatcom County since 1943. HENIFIN, Flora Mildred, 89, formerly of Whatcom County, died No. 25, 1991, in Grand Terrace, Calif. She was born Sept. 10, 1902, near O'Neill, Neb., to George and Nellie Sanders. She married Fred Henifin in Nebraska. They farmed from 1942 to 1955 in Whatcom County, before moving to Long Beach, Calif. He died in 1981. Mrs. Henifin moved to Lucerne Valley, Calif., in 1983. Survivors include her daughter, Bernadine Roberts of Apple Valley, Calif.; sisters Ethel Henifin and Velda Lunney, both of Bellingham; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel, Northwest and Axton roads. Rex Watt will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park. HENIFIN, Jarold Loren (Jay), lifelong resident of Whatcom County, passed away in the early morning of July 11, 2004 at the age of 44. Born June 7, 1960, in Seattle, WA, Jay is preceded in death by his mother, Donna Benson, and step brother, Michael Benson. Survivors include his father, Jarold and wife Betty of Bellingham; children, Bridget and Tyler Garney of Lynden, Shelby and Jessica of Arlington; sisters, Robin Henifin of Salem, Oregon, Debbie and husband Cliff Cram of Bellingham, Heidi Henifin of Everett, Erin and husband Ken Beam of Bellingham, Janna and husband Wayde Nelson of Hillsboro, Oregon, Veronica and husband Ric Lehman of Woodinville; brother, Daniel Benson of Brooklyn, New York; Fiancee Jeri Terpsma and her son Cody, of Everson; six nieces; three nephews, and one great niece and nephew; six step brothers and sisters; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Jay was an avid bowler and dart player. He enjoyed being with his family and friends, listening to Country Music, and the Rodeo. He enjoyed being in the outdoors, fishing, working in the yard, flying his radio controlled airplanes, and playing the guitar. Jay will be greatly missed by all who knew him. HENIFIN, Jerry G., age 72, passed away April 20, 2006 in Bellingham. He was born Aug. 1, 1933 to George and Violet Henifin. Jerry worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator and spent time working on the Alaska Pipeline. He enjoyed watching sports - especially the Seahawks. He was preceded in death by son Jay Henifin, brother Ron Henifin and sister Vivian Andersen. He is survived by his wife Betty, daughters Robin Henifin, Heidi Henifin, Debbie Cram, Erin Bean and Jana Henifin, also sons Robin Pomeroy, Rick Pomeroy, daughter Vicki Pomeroy, sister Betty Cornett, Zanaga Barrett, Norma Badgley, Mary Lou Walstrom, brother Brian Henifin, special niece and caregiver Rhonda Layton and numerous nieces and nephews. HENIFIN, Lester J., age 78, of 1318 N. Forest, passed away at his residence Saturday, October 8, (1966). Mr. Henifin had resided in Bellingham for 24 years and was a retired farmer and mill worker. He leaves to survive 6 brothers, Arthur and Madison, both city; Calvin of Everson; Fred of Long Beach, Calif., George of Brookings, Oregon; 2 sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Johnson of O'Neill, Neb.; 2 half-brothers, Elba Henifin of Seattle; Elwin Henifin of Orchard, Wash., many nieces and nephews. HENIFIN, Lloyd A., who was an organizer of the Deming Log Show and a tree-topping and log-rolling competitor for many years, died Sunday (July 2, 1988) in Bellingham. Henifin, 58, of 4921 Noon Road was born Jan. 24, 1930, in Spencer, Neb. He moved from Colorado to Bellingham in 1941. Private family services have been held. He worked for Alpine Logging Co. in Bellingham, and was owner-operator of Cascade Carving. He was a professional musician and belonged to the local musician's union for many years. Mr. Henifin enjoyed drawing, painting and fishing. Survivors include a son, Mikel Richard Henifin of Bellingham; three daughters, Wanda Mae Livengood of Sequim, and Billie Crabtree and Valerie Clardy, both of Bellingham; a brother, Bill Henifin of Bellingham; a sister, Bonnie Pike of Bellingham; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. HENIFIN, Myrna L., age 70 of Bellingham passed away at her home on Tuesday, December 16, 2008. She was born on June 6, 1938 in Bellingham, WA to Loraine and Eileen (Gooding) Fullner. Myrna was a member of the Mt. Baker High School class of 1956 and completed one year of training in bookkeeping and accounting at Bellingham Technical College. She was previously employed by May Accounting in Bellingham. Myrna was a member of AARC since 1990 and was also a member of the Bellingham Stamp and Coin Club. She loved fishing, car shows and auctions and enjoyed antiquing. She loved her cats and enjoyed motorcycling and traveling around the U.S. in an RV. Myrna was an excellent mother who, despite hard circumstances, always made sure her kids were healthy, happy and well taken care of. She was preceded in death by her parents. Myrna is survived by her daughters, Sandi Sanders, and Sue Henifin; sons, Bob and Dale Henifin; twin brothers, Marv and Merle Fullner; grandchildren, Jessica Johnson, Nick Dennis, Justin Sanders, Kali Henifin, and Chris Dennis; great-grandchildren, Tyson and Dylan; and numerous other relatives. HENIFIN, Norman - Funeral services for Norman Henifin, 65, will be 1 p.m. today at Greenacres Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, with Mr. Rex Watt officiating. Mr. Henifin died June 7, (1990) at a convalescent center in Ontario, Calif. He was born Jan. 19, 1925, in Meek [near O'Neill], Neb, and lived 14 years of his life in Whatcom County, before moving to Long Beach, Calif., where he lived for 33 years. Survivors include mother Flora M. Henifin and sister Bernadine Roberts, both of Apple Valley, Calif.; two nieces and two nephews. Arrangements are by Greenacres Funeral Home.

HENIFIN, Ronald "Ron" who began a construction company in a former gas station 25 years ago and built it into a firm that worked on prominent Whatcom County projects, died Saturday (Nov. 25, 1989) of cancer. Henifin of 674 Cherry Lane was 50. He was born Aug. 15, 1939, in North Bellingham and lived in Whatcom County all his life. A Mass of Christian Burial for Henifin will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Bayview Cemetery, the Rev. John Madigan officiating. Henifin started what became Henifin & Associates Inc., 3857 Hannegan Road, in 1965, while he was working as an equipment operator for father-in-law Glen Corning. The new company's head quarters were located in a former service station, at the current location of Sarducci's restaurant, 710 Samish Way. Over the years, the company, specializing in public works projects, won increasingly larger heavy construction projects, Among them were site and road work for:
*Fred Meyer Shopping Center in the early 1970s.
*Cordata Business Park in the midde 1980s.
*The Alaska ferry terminal, opened last month.
*Sunset Square mall, still under construction.
Henifin has been sole owner of the company since it was founded, except for several years in the early 1970s when he was partners with Bob Hinton and Fred Ossewarde. Henifin & Associates has become a frequent contractor for the city of Bellingham. It now has an ongoing contract for Asphalt, street and concrete work. The company has about 30 year-round full-time employees, although its payroll is boosted to more that 50 during peak construction seasons. With Henifin's death, wife Glenda Corning Henifin, whom he married Feb. 27, 1959, becomes president, Company Vice President Jaime Henifin, Henifin's 30-year-old son is managing the company. Henifin was a member of the Whatcom County General Contractors, the Elks Club and the Bellingham Yacht Club. He was an avid player of pickleball, a racket game. He also racket ball, tennis and softball. Henifin's company has sponsored soccer, softball, bowling and tennis league teams.
In 1963, Henifin played lineman for a Bellingham semi-professional football team. He lettered in football and baseball at Bellingham High School, where he was graduated in 1957. Besides his wife and son Jaime, survivors include another son, Jacob Henifin of Bellingham; a daughter, Rhonda Henifin of Bellingham; his mother, Violet Henifin of Bellingham; two brothers, Bryant Henifin of Bellingham and Jerry Henifin of Alaska; five sisters, Zynaga Barrett, Mary Lue Walstrom and Noma Badgley of Bellingham, Betty Cornett of Alabama and Vivian Anderson of Seattle; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements are by Jerns & LeVeck Funeral Chapel and Crematorium.

HENIFIN, Violet M. - Visitation for Violet M. Henifin will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Greenacres Funeral Home. A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Greenacres Funeral Home with the Rev. Dick Mattila officiating, followed by burial in Greenacres Memorial Park. Mrs. Henifin died Friday, April 2, 1999, at Mount Baker Care Center. She was 89. She was born July 31, 1909, to Marion W. and Ida M. Carley Spry in O'Neill, Neb. After her mother's death in 1920, she quit school to help with the family's housekeeping and cooking. On Nov. 4, 1927, she married George Henifin in Burke, S.D. She and her husband farmed in O'Neill until dust bowl conditions forced them to leave in 1935. They relocated to Ferndale and farmed on LaBounty and Smith roads. They also lived in Wenatchee and in Brookings, Ore., before returning to Bellingham to retire. Mrs. Henifin enjoyed sharing family news and knitting baby blankets for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching horse races and occasionally placed bets on gray horses. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Ronald; and a grandson, Richard Walstrom. Survivors include daughter Zynaga Barrett, Mary Lue Walstrom and Noma Badgley, all of Bellingham, Vivian Anderson of Federal Way and Betty-Jane Cornett of Pell City, Ala.; sons Jarold Henifin and Bryant Henifin, both of Bellingham; brother Leland Spry of O'Neill; 28 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

HENIKA, Ethel B., age 80 years, 44 years a resident of Bellingham, passed away at a local hospital Sunday, January 18, (1948) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Henika leaves to survive, two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth M. Clark, Wayland, Mich., and Mrs. Ina E. Steele, Bellingham; two nephews, Raymond and Richard Smith, both of Bellingham; numerous other relatives in California and Michigan. Funeral services will be held at the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home, Wednesday, January 21, at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Canon E. B. Smith, officiating. Cremation.

HENIKMAN, Della M., age 43, 106 Carter Drive, passed away Monday, November 2, (1964). A lifetime resident of this city, Mrs. Henikman was a member of the Slavonian National Benefit Socity, and the Cannery Workers Union, Local No. 780. Survivors are her husband, Frank F., at home; one daughter, Miss Karen Leen Henikman, at home; mother, Mrs. Beatrice Dujmovich, city; three brothers, William and Nick Dujmovich, both of this city, and Walt Dujmovich of Seattle. Services will be conducted Wednesday, November 4 at 3 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home, follwed by burial in Greenacres Memorial Park.

HENKEL, Anne M. - A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be said for Anne M. Henkel at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Assumption Catholic Church. A Christian Prayer Service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Jerns & LeVeck Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Henkel, 51, of 1025 Queens St. died Saturday (June 17, 1989) at a Bellingham hospital. She was born Sept. 29, 1937, in Cincinnati, Ohio and moved to Bellingham in 1968. She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church and loved to cook. Mrs. Henkel is survived by her husband, Harold, of the family home; two sons, Charles Henkel of Bellingham and Harold Henkel Jr., of Kirkland; her mother, Clorine Johnson of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Joseph Hines of Chicago and John Hines of Florence, Ky.; and two sisters, Catherine Donaworth of Covington, Ky., and Mary Anne Mauch of Batavia, Ohio.

HENKEN, Ari (Ira) age 81 formerly of 1401 E St., Lynden passed away Saturday, December 13, 1980. Born in Holland, Mr. Henken was a retired gardener & in 1905 moved to Waupun, Wisc. & then in the spring of 1926 he moved to Lynden. He is survived by 17 nephews & 5 nieces; 3 sisters-in-law, Mrs. Albert Henken of Bellingham, Mrs. Ralph Henken & Mrs. John Henken both of Waupun, Wisc. Numerous other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted on Tues. Dec. 16 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of the Gillies Funeral Home with Rev. Gordon Van Oosteenburg officiating. Burial will follow in Monumenta Cemetery.

HENKEN, Arnold F., 73, of 2329 Orleans St., Bellingham, died suddenly at his home on Thursday, Dec. 15, 1994. The son of Albert and Elena (Bauwman) Henken, Arnold was born in Waupon, Wis. on Dec. 13, 1921 and came to Whatcom County with his family in 1926. During World War II he served in the Army Air Corp. For many years he was employed as a commercial truck driver. He is survived by five brothers, Frank Henken and Edward Henken of Bellingham, John Henken and Albert Henken Jr. of Arlington and Ernest Henken of Ferndale and numerous other relatives. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gerritt, in 1983 and infant sister Johanna Henken. Graveside services were conducted on Monday in Monumenta Cemetery in Lynden with Rev. Rod Shockley officiating. Services were under the dare of Gillies Funeral Home.

HENKEN, Caroline J., 77, formerly of 806 Edson St., Lynden, died suddenly at the Christian Rest Home in Lynden on Nov. 1, 1994. Memorial funeral services were conducted on Friday at First Reformed Church in Lynden with Rev. Marc deWaard officiating. Burial preceded at Monumenta Cemetery in Lynden. Born in Waupun, Wis. on Dec. 24, 1916, Caroline was the daughter of Evert and Marie (Redeker) Henken and moved with her family to Lynden in 1927. She was employed primarily as a grocery clerk at the former Lynden Department Store and Farmer's Mercantile in Lynden. She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Lynden and enjoyed playing triominoes. She is survived by three sisters, Evelyn DeBruyn and husband Jim of Lynden, Josie deLine of Lynden and Arlene Mann and husband Dick of Santa Cruz, Calif.; three brothers, Arthur Henken and wife Burdena of Lynden, James Henken and wife Ellen of Lynden and Marion Henken and wife Mildred of Fort Walton, Beach, Fla.; and numerous other relatives. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Don deLine. Services were under the care of Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden.

HENKEN, Elena, age 84 formerly of 409 York Street passed away Wednesday, January 26, 1983. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert and daughter Johanna Henken; and leaves t survive 7 sons, Arnold of Bellingham; Frank & wife Elgie of Bellingham; John & wife Mona of Mt. Vernon; Edward & wife Nona of Bellingham; Gerrit & wife Nadine of Boise, Idaho; Albert Jr. & wife Marge of Arlington, Ernest R. & wife Sandra of Bellingham; 2 brothers, Dick & George Bouwman, both of Lynden; 2 sisters, Tessie Jaeger of Lynden; Tina VanDerPol of Seattle; 16 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren. She was a member of the Bellingham Christian Reformed Church and known as the Doll Lady of Lincoln Square. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, January 28, 1983 at 10:30 a.m. in the Bellingham Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Robert Koornneef officiating. Calling hours will be Noon until 9 p.m. Thursday, January 27, 1983 at the Jerns & LeVeck Funeral Chapel and Friday until 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Monumenta Cemetery, Lynden. HENKEN, Elgie Marie, age 84, of Bellingham, passed away December 25, 2009. She was born September 7, 1925 in Bellingham to Clarence & Oline (Bruland) Miller. In 1947 she married Frank Henken. She enjoyed being a homemaker and also enjoyed her husband's hobby of antique cars. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. Elgie was preceded in death by her husband Frank; sisters Mae Roo and June Dormady; brothers-in-law Gerrit Henken and Arnold Henken; and nephew Jim Prince. She is survived by her daughter Sandee (Larry) Leen; grandchildren Brittnee Leen and Nathan Leen; brothers-in-law John (Mylene) Henken, Al (Margie) Henken, Edward Henken and Ernie (Velma) Henken; nieces Charlotte Prince, Donna Stanford, and Marlene Ruschner. There will be a graveside service on Saturday January 2, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Greenacres Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held at Greenacres Moles Funeral Home at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 2nd, 2009.

HENKEN, Evert, age 74 of Lynden, passed away suddenly Saturday, May 25, 1963. He had been a resident of Lynden since 1927 and was a retired farmer. He w as a member of the First Reform Church. Survivors include 3 sons, Arthur and James, both of Lynden and Marion of U.S.A.F. in Texas; 4 daughters, Miss Caroline Henken, Mrs. Don DeLine, Mrs. Jim DeBruyn, Jr., all of Lynden and Mrs. Dick Mann of Wasonville, California; 4 brothers, Albert of Bellingham, Ira of Lynden, Ralph and John of Waupon, Wisconsin; also 11 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Gillies Funeral Home Friday, May 31 at 2 p.m., with Rev. William Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Monumenta Cemetery.

HENKEN, Polly J., 68, of 1200 Lincoln St., Bellingham, died July 5, 1994 at her residence. She was born July 16, 1925 in Anacortes to Edith and Guy Lowman. She was a graduate of Bellingham High School and attended Western Washington State College. Polly married John Henken in Bellingham and moved to Mount Vernon, where she managed Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce. In recent years she had returned to Bellingham and most recently worked at Bellingham Care Center. She is survived by one daughter, Heidi Ann Henken of Fairbanks, Alaska, a former Lynden Tribune employee; a sister Rosemary Mazour of Belvedere, Calif., Michael Mazour and Alexandra Mazour of Belvedere; and many cousins, nephews and nieces of the Sahlin and Lowman families. Services were held Monday at Westford Funeral Home Chapel in Bellingham. Arrangements were made by Westford Funeral Home.

HENLEY, Arvel, age 43, of 2616 McCleod Road, passed away in a local hospital Friday, Aug. 7, (1953). Mr. Henley had resided in this community for the past 11 years and was an employee of the Bellingham Coal Mine and a member of the United Mine Workers of America, Local No. 6349. Surviving relatives are his widow, Hilda; two sons, Samuel D. and Orville L. and one daughter, Miss Joan Henley, all at home, and two sisters, Mrs. Retta Rosson of Clifton, Colo., and Mrs. Minnie Millsap of Scotland, Ark. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. George Rodenberger Monday, Aug. 10, at 1:00 p.m. Final resting place, Greenacres Memorial Park.

HENLEY, Elizabeth Watts, 68, a former Bellingham resident, died Friday in Corvallis, Ore. She was born Sept. 25, 1912, in Bellingham. Her parents, Arthur and Maude Watts, were Whatcom County pioneers. She attended Western Washington University, and received B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Washington. She moved to Corvallis in 1959, where she was a professor of letters and creative writing at Oregon State University. Prior to that, she taught at the University of Washington, at Hunter College and Professional Children's School in New York, and at Portland State University. A published poet, she was a member of the Oregon Council of English Teachers, Oregon State Poetry Association, American Association of University Professors, Kappa Kappa Gamma and Delta Kappa Gamma. She is survived by three sons, a brother, two sisters and three grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bayview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fisher Funeral Home, Albany, Ore., and Jones Funeral Home.

HENLEY, Esther Ella Dowker, age 84 formerly of Whatcom County, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, in Brigham City, Utah. She was born March 24, 1901, in McGillvary Township, Ontario, Canada. She married Wallace Berton Henley, Dec. 26, 1924, in Alberta, Canada. She lived in Alberta; Creston, B.C.; Santa Cruz, Calif.; Whatcom County, from 1960 to 1973; and then moved to Brigham City. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Wilbert (Joyce) Cross of West Jordan, Utah, Mrs. Brice (Marion) Barber of Sonora, Calif., Mrs. Gwen Reid of Concord, Calif., and Mrs. Paul (Grace) Nason of Portage, Maine; 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; one brother, Harry Dowker of Aldergrove, B.C.; two sisters, Miss Elsie Dowker of Aldergrove and Mrs. William (Grace) Umbuwst of Alberta. Services were conducted Saturday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m. at Olsen Mortuary in Brigham City, Utah. Interment was in Brigham City Cemetery.

HENLEY, Wanda L. of 4127 Dewey Road died Monday, May 17, 1993, at her home. She was 55. A memorial Mass will be said at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Assumption Catholic Church. Born March 13, 1938, in Canon City, Colo., to William and Eulah Langford, she was co-owner of Little Roadside Tavern in Everson and a member of Assumption Catholic Church. She also enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. She is survived by her husband, Orville Henley of Bellingham; son Steve Engholm of Acme; daughters Robin Henley of Bellingham, Patricia Nance of Everett, Stacia Anne Wheeler of Deming and Pam Scott of Alaska; brothers David L. Langford and Vernon Langford, both of Colorado; sisters Mildred Rutherford, Jeane Drobnick and Irna Seckman, all of Colorado; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. HENNES, Albert Frank, former Bellingham resident, has died at his home in Seattle (Dec. 27, 1971). He attended Bellingham Normal University of Washington in 1921. Mr. Hennes retired from Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone Co. in 1959. Survivors include brothers Delbert of Long Beach, Calif. and Ralph of Bellingham and sons, John of Seattle and James of Columbia, Mo.

HENNES, Flora Y., age 84, of 201 Carolina St., passed away in a local hospital Sunday, May 15, (1960). Mrs. Hennes had resided in Bellingham the past 70 years and leaves to survive three sons; Ralph of Bellingham, Albert F. of Seattle, and Delbert P. of Long Beach, Calif., and four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home. Private graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, May 18 at 11 a.m. by Dr. W. Carl Calhoun in Bayview Cemetery.

HENNES, Ralph - Services for Ralph Hennes, 71, 2317 Williams St., will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Jones Funeral Home with private burial at Green Acres Memorial Park. Mr. Hennes, a lifetime Bellingham resident, died Saturday, (Oct. 18, 1975). He was a retired fire instructor with the Bellingham Fire Department, a Coast Guard veteran of World War II and a member of Bellingham Elks Lodge 194, Whatcom County Free and Accepted Masons, Bellingham Aeri[e] 31 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and Musician Protective Local 451. He was for many years an active local musician and a shooter in trap shooting. Mr. Hennes is survived by three nephews, Randolph and John Hennes, both of Seattle, and James Hennes of Boulder, Colo.; a niece, Mrs. Floell Kratka of Manhattan Beach, Calif.

HENNESSEY, Thomas, age 80, passed away in a local hospital Monday, July 22, (1946). Mr. Hennessey had been a resident of this community for many years and was a member of the Catholic Church. HENNESSY, Mary Alice, 101, 2527 Undine St., died Tuesday, September 12, (1972). She was a 58-year resident of Bellingham. She is survived by three daughters, Nancy E. Hennessy of Bellingham, Mrs. Nellie E. Williams of Oak Harbor and Mrs. Lucille K. Convey of Issaquah, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

HENNING, Hannah, age 81, of 1717 Eldridge Ave., passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, June 3, (1959). Mrs. Henning had resided in Bellingham for many years and was a member of the Champion Street Baptist Church. Survivors are her husband, Alfred, at home; one daughter, Mrs. Martha Rickerson of Lake Bay, Wash.; one son, Kalsen of Bellevue; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister in Sweden. HENNING, Linda Irene, age 72 of 110 Park St., Everson, passed away Fri., Dec. 26, (1975). Mrs. Henning was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Bellingham and for 30 years operated Linda's Beauty Shop in Everson. She was married to her husband, Gus in Kennsington, Kansas on Aug. 11, 1943. Besides her husband Gus, she is survived by her brother, Ernest Adelung in Anhurst, Neb.; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She also was proceeded in death by her infant son. Funeral services will be conducted Mon., Dec. 29 at 1 p.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bellingham with Rev. Carl O. Fischer officiating. Interment will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park. HENNING, Mary Ellen, age 62, of 308 W. Champion St., passed away Friday, November 6, (1962). Mrs. Henning had resided in Bellingham most of her life and was a member of the University Presbyterian Church. Survivors are one son, Morrison W. Fisher of Bellingham; one daughter, Mrs. Marianne Zener of Seattle; 12 grandchildren; one brother, William J. Morrison of Bellingham; one sister, Mrs. Jessie J. White of Orcas Island; numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted at the Jones Funeral Home by the Rev. Grant Whipple Monday, November 9 at 3:00 p.m. Final resting place Bay View Cemetery.

HENNING, Raymond Carl, 85, passed away Jan. 22, 1992 in a hospital in Bakersfield, Calif. He was born April 21, 1906 in McComb, Ohio. He moved to Kern County in California in 1927. He raised potatoes and many other crops and bought his seed potatoes in Whatcom County. He is survived by his wife of almost 67 years, Sarah Henning of Tehachapi, Calif.; a son, Raymond Carl Henning Jr. of Fresno, Calif.; two daughters, Phyllis Karpe and Barbara Henning of Bear Valley Springs; six grandchildren; and a sister, Oral Gertrude King of Lynden. A funeral service was held Jan. 27, followed by interment at Tehachapi Cemetery.

HENNINGS, Beverlee M., a former resident of Sumas, died at her home in Oakland, California on Jan. 9, 1998. She was 72 years of age. Ms. Hennings was born in Camas, WA, but moved to Sumas as a child and attended Sumas Grade School and Nooksack Valley High School, where she was a member of the class of 1943. After war work during WWII, she began working in Insurance Administration and retired as an executive of Pacific Mutual Life in San Francisco in 1985. She then embarked on a second career of commercial property management, retiring for a second time in 1994. Her life passion was world travel and she made several trips to Europe, South America and the Middle East. At the time of her death she was planning a tramp steamer cruise thru the Western Pacific. At her request there were no services. She is survived by a number of cousins including Jack and Nyda May, also former Sumas residents.

HENRICKSON, Infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Henrickson, Route 5, Bellingham, passed away at a local hospital, Monday, September 16, (1946). Surviving relatives, aside from parents, include two brothers and one sister, Gerald, Keith and Andra at home; grandparents, Mrs. Maud Henrickson, of Bellingham and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Martin, of Orcas Island. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, September 17, in Bay View Cemetery, with Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. G. Stafford, pastor of the Church of the Assumption, officiating, under the direction of the Bingham-Dahlquist Funeral Home.

HENRICKSON, Edith M., age 93, of 1530 James St., passed away Thursday, Sept. 16, (1976). Mrs. Henrickson was a 20 year resident of this community and a member of the Senior Citizens. Surviving one son, Claude Wickler; one daughter, Mrs. Bonnce Metcalf, both of city; one brother, Dale Tresner of Olympia; 4 grandchildren, Warren Metcalf, Mrs. Jan Martinsen, Mrs. Marilynn Wight, all of city, Robert Auer of Seattle; 8 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. HENDRIKSON, Hazel S., age 86, of 7418 Woodland Road, Ferndale, died January 6, 1991. She was born December 25, 1904 in Warren, MN. She is survived by daughters, Bernice Wood and husband Robert of Ferndale, Joyce Johnson and husband Victor of Bellingham, Helen Woods and husband Thaine of Ferndale; 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; sisters, Clara Ryer of Ferndale, Ruth Baklund of Bellingham; brother, Rudy Bring of Bellingham. HENRICKSON, John E., age 87, of Ferndale, passed away at a local hospital, Sunday, June 11, (1950) following a lingering illness. Mr. Henrikson had been a resident of the Ferndale Community for the past 44 years and was a member of the Lutheran Free Church in Ferndale. Surviving relatives include a daughter, Mrs. Julia Moe, of Anacortes; four grandchildren, Helga Forbes, Ruth Cain, and Rolf and Leif Moe; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 15, at 1:30 p.m. within the Monroe Mortuary in Ferndale with the Rev. Sylvester Rue officiating. Interment in the family plot at Enterprise Cemetery.

HENRIKSON, Justin B., age 61 years, of Rt. 1, Ferndale, passed away in a hospital, Saturday, April 21, (1962) following an extended illness. Mr. Henrikson had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past 55 years. Survivors include two brothers, Conrad, of Ferndale, George of Seattle; and three nieces. HENRIKSON, Konrad, 64, Rt. 1, Ferndale, died Wednesday (April 6, 1966). He had been a resident of the county for the past 62 years. Surviving are the widow, Hazel; three daughters, Mrs. Bernice Wood (sic) and Mrs. Helen Woods (sic), both of Ferndale, and Mrs. Joyce Johnson of Bellingham; a brother, George, of Vashon Island, and nine grandchildren. Dr. Wilfred Gunderson will conduct services at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Moles Funeral Home, Ferndale. Burial will be in Enterprise Cemetery.

HENRIOULLE, Pamela, a former Bellingham resident, died Friday, July 18, 1997, in Seattle after a long illness. She was 50. She was born Nov. 2, 1946, in Sacramento, Calif., to Louie and Matilda Henrioulle. She graduated from La Sierra High School in Sacramento in 1964 and attended the University of California at San Francisco and Western Washington University. She moved to Bellingham in the late 1960s and was part owner of Fairhaven Tavern until 1982. She later worked as nutrition-service supervisor at Swedish Hospital in Seattle. She enjoyed her work as a hospice caregiver and a volunteer at Seattle Art Museum and Seattle Film Festival. Her hobbies included poetry, modern dance, photography, painting, travel and Scrabble. She also enjoyed spending time with friends. Survivors include her parents of Carmichael, Calif.; two brothers, Gunnar and Steven Henrioulle; a sister, Barbara; two nieces and one nephew; a grandniece and grandnephew, all of California. A memorial service has not yet been scheduled.

HENRY, Ake Alexander, age 70, of Blaine, passed away in a local Rest Home Thursday, January 9, (1964) following an extended illness. A retired shingle weaver, he had been a resident of Blaine for the past 16 years and was a member of the Edison I.O.O.F. Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Tessie; 1 daughter, Mrs. Lee Fisher, Yakima; 1 brother, Clyde Henry, Mount Vernon; 2 sisters, Mrs. Lola Blackmore, Mount Vernon and Mrs. Katherine Young, Oak Harbor; also 2 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the McKinney Funeral Home Saturday, January 11, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. William Graff officiating. Burial will follow in the Bow Cemetery at 1 p.m.

HENRY, Daniel Patrick - Gunnery Sgt. Daniel Patrick Henry, age 33, of the U.S. Marine Corp. and 2810 Superior St., passed away in Bellville, Illinois, Thurs. May 12, (1983). Gunnery Sgt. Henry had enlisted in the Marines in May of 1967, and was a veteran of Viet Nam. HENRY, Della F. passed away Fri., Oct. 10, 1986 after a short illness. A Bellingham resident for the past 22 years Mrs. Henry operated the emergency answering service for Whatcom County Physician Service for the last 12 years, retiring this January. HENRY, Eugene F., age 52, who resided at 2705 Jefferson St., passed away in a local hospital Tuesday, Jan. 5, (1960) following an extended illness. Mr. Jefferson had been a lifetime resident of Bellingham. Surviving relatives include two daughters, Mrs. Patricia Hirschkern and Mrs. Janet Trammell, both of Bellingham; one son, Ronald Henry of Portland, also seven grandchildren. Rev. HENRY, Frank, age 93 who resided at 2500 Henry Street, passed away on Friday, May 1, (1964). Mr. Henry resided in Bellingham for the past 50 years and was a retired carpenter. He leaves to survive 3 sons, Albert Henry and Daniel Henry of Bellingham, and Roy Henry of Tacoma; 4 daughter, Mrs. Vera Parks of Portland, Mrs. Ethel Maurer of Portland, Mrs. Blanche Jones of Seattle, and Mrs. Beatrice LeGall of Seattle; 2 sisters, Mrs. Ida Kritzman and Mrs. Edith Dafoe, both of Michigan; 1 brother, Howard Henry of Michigan; 21 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Rev. William J. Gunter of the Church of Nazarene will conduct funeral services in the Chapel of the Bingham and Jerns Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 6, at 1:00 p.m. followed by cremation.

HENRY, Goldie F. (Jim), of Edison, died Monday morning at a local hospital after a brief illness. Born in Auburn, Neb. in 1897 he came to Burlington with his parents in 1904. He received his education in the Burlington schools and in 1944 was married to Mrs. Lee V. Vanderhoof in Bellingham, where Mr. and Mrs. Henry lived for a year before moving to Edison. Mr. Henry was a member of the Bellingham Eagles Lodge and of the Shingle-weavers Union. Surviving are his wife, one son, Dean Russell of Mount Vernon, and one grandson. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Walter Hulbush Funeral Home. Interment will be in Burlington cemetery.

HENRY, Grace A., age 73, of Portland, Oregon, passed away in that city, Friday, November 11, (1949) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Henry was a former Bellingham resident. Surviving relatives include three sons, Daniel W., of Bellingham, Albert N. of Seattle, and Ray F. of Tacoma; four daughters, Mrs. Clarence Jones, Mrs. Ralph Rourer, Mrs. Vera Handy and Mrs. Beatrice Griswold, all of Portland, Oregon; two sisters, Mrs. Viola Cushnack, of Keego Harbor, Mich., Mrs. Wesley Norman, of Detroit, Mich.; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home, Monday, November 14 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. R. L. Peterson officiating. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery.

HENRY, Henry, age 78, a former Mt. Vernon resident died in Blaine Tuesday, October 25, 1983. He was born in Saratov, Russia March 15, 1905, the son of Jacob and Katherine Henry. As an infant he came to this country settling in Lincoln, Nebraska and in 1910 moved to Warden, Montana. He was educated there and married Josephine C. Sherriff in Billings, Montana, March 20, 1926. That year the couple came to Washington, settling in Sedro Woolley and in 1927 moved to Mt. Vernon where they lived until 1974 when he moved to Whatcom County where he had resided since. While in Mt. Vernon, Mr. Henry worked as an engineer for the City of Mt. Vernon in the sanitation system for a number of years retiring in 1967. Mrs. Henry preceded him in death in 1982. Survivors are 2 daughters, Beryl Vail of Bellingham and Marge Henry of Blaine; 1 sister, Marie Peterson of Columbus, Montana; 2 brothers, Dick Henry of Columbus, Montana and William Henry of Haskell, Texas; 2 granddaughters, Linda Lorz of Seward, Alaska and Nancy Fran of Goleta, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held in the Hawthorne Lawn Cemetery, Mt. Vernon, at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 29 with burial to follow there. Mr. Henry will lie in state at the Kerns Funeral Chapel until 9:00 p.m. Friday for those wishing to pay their last respects.

HENRY, Jeffrey Scott - A memorial service for Jeffrey Scott Henry, 27, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ferndale Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Arlen Benson and the Rev. Stephen Rideout will officiate. The body will be cremated. Mr. Henry, 1760 1/2 W. Bakerview Road, died Saturday (Oct. 21, 1989) at St. Joseph Hospital from injuries suffered in an automobile-motorcycle accident earlier in the day. He was born Oct. 26, 1961, in Bellingham and had been a lifelong resident of Whatcom County. Mr. Henry worked as an auto mechanic at Jerry Chambers Chevrolet. He was a sports fisherman and enjoyed snow skiing and playing darts. Survivors include his wife, Sherrie; a son, Scott Rodrick Henry; his parents, Claude S. and Mary E. Henry of Ferndale; two brothers, Richard Henry and Ryan Henry, both of Ferndale; his maternal grandmother, Inga Vander Yacht of Lynden; his paternal grandfather, Ronald Rideout of Ferndale; and numerous aunts, uncles and other relatives. Cremation will be by Greenacres Crematorium. Arrangements are under the direction of the Moles Funeral Home.

HENRY, Josephine C. age 80, a former resident of Mt. Vernon died in Blaine Saturday, July 10, 1982. She was born in Harbor, Kansas April 2, 1902, the daughter of Joseph & Edna Sherriff. At the age of 18 years, she moved to Montana and taught school there in Columbus. She was married to Henry Henry in Billings, Montana March 20, 1926. That year the couple came to Washington and settled in Sedro Woolley. In 1927 they came to Mt. Vernon. In 1974 they moved to Whatcom County where they had resided since. She was a member of the Avon United Methodist Church. Survivors are her husband, Henry of Blaine; 2 daughters, Beryl Vail of Bellingham and Marg Henry of Blaine; 1 sister, Mrs. Inez Evans of Hemet, Calif.; 2 grandchildren, Linda Lorz of Seward, Alaska and Nancy Vail of Bellingham. Private graveside services will be held at Hawthorne Lawn Cemetery, Mt. Vernon, 2 p.m. Wed., July 14 with Rev. Mike Lander of Blaine officiating. She will lie in state until 1:00, Wed. at Kern Funeral Chapel, Mt. Vernon.

HENRY, Julia C., age 68 years, recently of Seattle, and a resident of Bellingham about thirty years ago, passed away in Florida where she had gone for her health, Saturday, June 11, (1949) after a lingering illness. Surviving relatives include her husband, John S. Henry; one son, Harvey C. Henry, Seattle, and one grandson, Phillip C. Henry, Seattle. HENRY, Mabel E., age 75, of 1137 State Street, passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, December 3, (1953). Mrs. Henry was a retired teacher, and had taught in public schools in Washington and other Western States for 11 years. She was a member of the Garden Street Methodist Church, and the Sehome Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. Surviving relatives include one son, Walter Henry of Hillsboro, Ore.; two grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews including Mrs. Florence Norton and Mrs. Merle Mills, both of Bellingham. HENRY, May Barron - A memorial service for May Barron Henry, 91, of Bellingham, will be at 3 p.m., Dec. 11, at Jones-Moles Funeral Home, with the Rev. Al Currier officiating. Mrs. Henry died Sunday at Needham's Nursing Home in Bellingham. She was born May Ray on May 30, 1899, in Canada. Her husband, Al Henry, died in 1972. She was born Olive Margaret Saunders Aug. 20, 1905, in Billings, Mont. She lived most of her life in Whatcom County, where she was a member of Advent Christian Church and taught Sunday school. She married Daniel W. Henry on Nov. 19, 1923, in Everett. He died in 1971. Her daughter, Evelyn Godfrey, also has died. Survivors include daughters Viola Sain of Granite Falls, Beatrice Hernandez of Bellingham and Eearldean Swenson of Bellingham; sons, Daniel F. Henry of Seattle, Harvey Henry Sr. of Bellingham and Cmdr. Gary Henry of Virginia Beach, Va.; sister Edith Tice of Aberdeen; 18 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

HENRY, Tessie, 79, died Friday (July 9, 1976) after having been a long-time resident of Blaine. She had been active in the Royal Neighbors, the Rebekah Lodge No. 321, the Friendship Circle of United Methodist and Baptist Church, the Homemakers Club and the Senior Citizens Activity Center. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Blaine. She is survived by her daughter, Lois Fisher of Blaine; sisters, Gertrude Nelson of Blaine, and Anna Bowles of Bellevue. HENSEL, Connie, age 62 of Corvallis, OR, died while vacationing in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico. Mrs. Hensel is survived by her husband Gary Hensel of Corvallis; son Gary Mobley of Albany, OR; daughter Gail Patee of Lebanon, OR, Carla Page of Corvallis, Mary Keynon of Lebanon; step-son Willie Ogalive of San Jose, CA; brothers George Schoonover of Bellingham, Ron Schoonover of Custer; sister Joanna Schoonover of Philomath, OR; numerous grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was born June 16, 1934, to Lyle and Luella (Smith) Schoonover in Cheyenne, WY. She lived in Corvallis for ten years; loved crocheting, camping and collecting dolls. HENSHAW, Amy Churchill, age 83, of 2818 Old Fairhaven Parkway, passed away at St. Joseph Hospital Fri. Nov. 16, 1990. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Seattle, married Lowell Henshaw in Seattle in 1933 and lived in the Seattle area until 1986. She was employed for World Cavalcade in Seattle. She is survived by her husband Lowell of Bellingham; 2 sons, William & wife Carol of Bellingham, Lawrence & wife Jan of Bellevue; 5 grandchildren, Brant, Brian, Lynn, Steven & Robert. HENSHAW, Lowell S. 92, of 2818 Old Fairhaven Parkway, Bellingham, Wa. passed away at a local nursing care facility Dec. 23, 1990. Mr. Henshaw was born Nov. 140, 1898 in Clarinda, Iowa. He graduated from Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. He moved to Washington State and worked for the State of Washington as an investigator for the Dept. of Social and Health Services for 25 years. Mr. Henshaw was a member of the Iowa Masons, and a member of the Cascadian Club in Seattle. He was married to Amy C. Henshaw who preceded him in death. Mr. Henshaw is survived by 2 sons William Henshaw and wife Carol of Bellingham and Lawrence Henshaw and wife Jan of Bellevue. 5 grandchildren, Brant, Brian, Lynn, Steven and Robert. HENSHAW, Thelma, 39, formerly of Bellingham, passed away in Spokane Thursday, June 30, (1955). Mrs. Henshaw resided in Bellingham most of her life and had been living in Spokane the past two years. HENSLEY, Gay W., age 66 of Denton, Montana, passed away Tuesday, January 11, (1966). A longtime resident of Montana he had made his home in the Lynden area for the past month. HENSON, Alberta B., age 79, passed away at 3670 Haggin Rd., Bellingham, Sat. Jan. 19, 1991. Alberta was born in Coldwell, Kansas and attended local schools in McPherson, Kansas. She worked in California as a hospital insurance clerk. She married Thomas Henson in McPherson, Kansas on June 30, 1934, and was married for 42 years. She was a member of the Daughters of the King, St. Paul's Episcopal Church and Sewing Guild. Her hobbies were bowling and sewing. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara L. & Dennis Demorest of Bellingham; 2 grandsons, Jeff & Tom Demorest of Bellingham; a son, Kenneth A. Henson of Philadelphia, PA; a brother, John Beyer of Denver, CO; sister, Gladys Beyer of Hutchinson, KS; & numerous nieces & nephews. Memorial service will be held on Tues. HENSON, Robert E. of Blaine, WA, passed away in Lynden, on Tuesday, February 24, 2004. Bob courageously battled a malignant brain tumor. He was 73, born March 6, 1930, to Ellen (Spiva) and Silas Henson in Morley (sic), OK. Bob served in the U.S. Army and worked as a telegraph operator for the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad. He retired from the RR in May of 1992. He married Shirley Colvin in 1952 in Yakima, WA. Bob enjoyed building bird-houses, playing shuffleboard in Arizona, and Sunday picnics at Semihamoo at sunset. He belonged to an extended family group called the "GERKS." Bob was preceded in death by daughter Cheryl Ann Henson in 1959. Survivors include his wife Shirley, son Kevin and wife Heather Henson of Sumas, daughter Karin Henson of Blaine, two grandchildren: Jessica and John Henson of Sumas, brother Delbert and wife Thurza Henson of Puyallup, sisters: Valdean Lockling of Ellensburg, Billie Ann and husband Larry Shockley of Renton, and Nellie Carter of Spokane, brother-in-law Lloyd Stetson of San Marcos, CA, and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at Jones|Moles Funeral Home Chapel, with The Reverend Dennis Wildermuth officiating, and a reception following in the Whatcom Room. HENSPETER, Eugene H., "Pudge" age 69 of 7605 Goodwin Rd., Everson, passed away at his home on Sun. Feb. 17, (1980). A lifetime Whatcom County resident, Mr. Henspeter was a retired sawyer and had been a 27 year employee of the Great Western Lumber Co. in Everson. He was a member of the Lumber & Sawmill Workers Union and was married to Vera Bennett in Tacoma on Jan. 15, 1938. He is survived by his wife Vera, a daughter, Mrs. Nancy (Richard) Adams of Sumas; a son Ron of Everson; 4 grandchildren; a brother Morris of Lancaster, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted on Thurs. Feb. 21 at 11 a.m. in the Nooksack Cemebery with Rev. Earl Crouse officiating. A member of the Sumas Christian Reformed Church, he had been a self-employed truck driver for 30 years. He was married to Bertha Pilon in Lynden on March 30, 1944. He is survived by his wife Bertha; three sons, Arthur and wife Barbara of Bellingham, Andrew, Jr. and wife Violet of Yakima, and Alan of Ferndale; a daughter, Mrs. Brenda and husband Tom Hewett of Orlando, Fla.; five grandchildren; a brother, Earnest Hento and wife Eleanor of Silverton, Ore.; a sister, Mrs. Thresa (sic) and husband Bob Wilbur of Kirkland; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were under the direction of Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden.

HENTO, Tibbina, age 84 of 309 5th St., Lynden, passed away Monday, May 27, (1974). Born August 5, 1889 in the Netherlands, Mrs. Hento had been a Whatcom County resident for over 35 years and was a member of the Third Christian Reformed Church of Lynden. Survivors include 2 brothers [sons], Andrew of Sumas and Ernest of Silverton, Oregon; 1 daughter, Mrs. Theresa Radder of Bellingham; 1 brother, Tibbia Zwaagstra of the Netherlands; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 30 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Gillies Funeral Home with Rev. William K. Reinsma officiating. Interment will follow in Monumenta Cemetery.

HENTZ, Edith Henrietta unexpectedly passed away on Thursday March 31, 2005. Edith was born in McFarland, Wisconsin on August 10, 1919 to Esther and Henry Monsees. On April 2, 1938 she married Ed Hentz. They lived in Wisconsin until moving to Bellingham in 1954. Edith worked for PHT Trucking, Consolidated Freightways and retired from Lynden Transport. Edith is survived by Ed, her husband of 67 years. Three children: Eddie (Judy) Hentz of Seattle, Arlyne (Ron) Abbott of Shaw Island, Ron Hentz of Bellingham. Four grandchildren: Heidi and Eric of Seattle, Heather and Jason (and their mother Susie Hentz) of Bellingham. She is also survived by her only sibling, sister Barbara (Bob) White of Bellingham. Edith was so special to so many people. She loved traveling, craft work and entertaining; especially during the holidays. She was a member of the local Emblem Club. Edith was the most fun-loving, patient and kind wife, mother, "Grammie" and friend that one could ever hope for. We should all hope to leave this world being loved so much! As the matriarch of the family, she and her husband Ed formed a beautiful, strong family who in the midst of this huge loss will always remember with a smile all of the great times they all had together. "Love is stronger then death even though it can't stop death from happening, but no matter how hard death tries it can't separate people from love. It can't take away our memories either. In the end, life is stronger than death." Visitation will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Mon. Apr. 4 from 12-6 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Tues. Apr. 5 at 12 noon, followed by a Reception across the street at Westford's Broadway Hall, 1300 Broadway. Pastor R.L. Christensen will be officiating.

HENTZELL, Lody, age 76 of 1400 12th St., died Thurs. April 23, (1981). Mrs. Hentzell had been a resident of this community most of her life. She is survived by a son George & wife Sally Hentzell of San Diego, Calif.; daughter Mrs. Lee Hepner, City; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren. HENTZELL, Roy, age 58 of Sumas passed away in his home Sunday, Sept. 8, (1961) following a lingering illness. A retired truck driver, Mr. Hentzell had made his home in Bellingham for 20 years prior to moving to Sumas two years ago. Surviving are his wife Lody, one son George, San Dieto, one daughter, Mrs. Leo Hepner of Columbus, Ohio. Also seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Gillies Funeral Home in Sumas, Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 2 p.m., Rev. David Roddey officiating. Cremation will follow.

HENTZELL, Ruth Doris, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Hentzell, of Rooute No. 4, Bellingham, passed away suddenly Thursday evening, December 4, (1947) at the family home, at the age of 15 days. Besides the parents, Ruth is survived by a sister, Ramona, of the home; the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hentzell, of Bellingham, and the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Buss, of San Diego, Calif. Private funeral services were conducted within the Rose Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home, Saturday, December 6, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. F. M. Nitz, pastor of the Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment in Babyland of Bay View Cemetery.

HENTZEN, Hermon, aged 76 years, passed away (Sept. 6, 1943) at a local hospital following a short illness. Mr. Hentzen had been a resident of Bellingham for the past thirty years, having been connected with the logging industry. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. Surviving relatives include a niece and cousin residing in Nebraska. The body rests at the Westford-Beck funeral home where funeral arrangements are pending.
