HEECK, Harvey O - Graveside service for Harvey O. Heeck, age 75, of 2806 E. Sunset Dr., will be Tuesday Feb. 11, 1:30 p.m. at Greenacres Memorial Park. Mr. Heeck passed away Sun. Feb. 9, 1986. A Bellingham resident for the last 12 years, prior to that he [was] a longtime resident of Seattle, he was a 40-year member of the Eagles Lodge in Ballard and is survived by his wife Frances of Bellingham; 4 sons; 15 grandchildren & 10 great-grandchildren. HEED, Mildred Ann - Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Ann Heed, age 70, of 6067 Guide Meridian, Laurel, were conducted on Thursday, June 9, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Gillies Funeral Home with Rev. Edgar Starr officiating. Burial and graveside services were conducted on Saturday, June 11, at 11:00 a.m. in Resthaven Park, Glendale, Arizona. Mrs. Heed, who died at her home on Monday, June 6, (1983) was born in Youngstown, Ohio and had been a county resident for the past year and a half. She was a member of Garden Street Methodist Church in Bellingham and was married to her husband Raymond on March 15, 1929 and had lived in Phoenix since 1953; Mr. Heed died in 1974. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy and husband Clifton Broy of Laurel and Mrs. Joanne and husband Bill White of Greenboro, North Carolina; eleven grand and seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray Adams and a sister, Mrs. Jayne Liebau both of Youngstown, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews.

HEENAN, Brandy - A memorial service for Brandy Heenan is planned for 7:30 p.m. today at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 892 W. Wiser Lake Road. Miss Heenan, 18, of 6491-A, Portal Way, Ferndale, died at her home Saturday (Sept. 21, 1991) after a long illness. She was born Dec. 17, 1972 in Phoenix, Ariz., to Bill and Yolanda Heenan. Miss Heenan was graduated from Ferndale High School in 1991 and attended Bellingham Technical College. She was an active Jehovah's Witness and was involved in missionary work.She had planned to become a minister. Miss Heenan is survived by her parents and a sister, Laura Heenan, all of the family home; grandparents Petra ad Aurelio Martinez of Prescott, Ariz.; and numerous other relatives and friends. Arrangements are under the direction of Moles Funeral Home.

HEERINGA, Gertrude A. - Funeral services for Mrs. Gertrude A. Heeringa, who died in Bellingham, on Tuesday, Jan. 22, (1985) were conducted on Friday, Jan. 25, at 11 a.m. in the First Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Jacob Dykstra officiating. Burial followed in Monumenta Cemetery. Mrs. Heeringa, 64, of 506 Brookway Dr., Lynden, was born in Edgerton, Minn. on Oct. 1, 1920 and had been a Lynden-area resident since 1936. She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church and a member of the Ruth Society in the church. She was married to her husband, Herman, in Lynden on March 5, 1946. She is survived by her husband, Herman; four sons, Jim and wife Shirley of Sumas, Harold and wife Louise and Marvin and wife Ev, all of Lynden; Les and wife Janet of Vicksburg, Mich.; three daughters, Mrs. Sena and husband Bill deJager of Lethbridge, Alberta, Mrs. Elsie and husband Stuart Bakker of Ladner, B.C. and Marlys at home; 18 grandchildren; four brothers, John Scholten and wife Maggie, Bastian Scholten and wife Judy, and Bill Scholten and wife Shirley, all of Everson, and Evert Scholten and wife Hilda of Lynden; and numerous nieces and nephews. HEERINGA, Henry - Funeral services for Mr. Henry "Hank" Heeringa, age 64, who died suddenly at his home on Wednesday, January, 5, (1983) were conducted on Saturday, January 8, at 11:00 a.m. in the Lynden Church of the Nazarene with Revs. LaVerne Gates and Ray Kellom officiating. Burial followed in Monumenta Cemetery. Mr. Heeringa, of 9014 Bender Road, Lynden, was a lifetime area resident. He farmed for many years before becoming a bus driver for the Lynden School District and, for the past six years, a custodian at the Fisher Elementary School. He was a member of the Lynden Church of the Nazarene, and was married to Lorene Crabtree in Bellingham on June 7, 1940. He is survived by his wife, Lorene; four daughters, Mrs. Patricia and husband Richard Owens of Bellevue, Mrs. Janis and husband Ron Ogle of Arlington Heights, Illinois, Mrs. Judith and husband Maj. James E. Marr of Spokane, and Marilyn Heeringa of Bellingham; seven grandchildren; five brothers, Peter and wife Rena, Herman and wife Gertrude, Lewis and wife Lucy, and Gerrit and wife Nellie, all of Lynden, and Thomas and wife Rachael of Seattle; three sisters, Mrs. Dena VanderKooi and Mrs. Hermina Haveman of Lynden, and Mrs. Sadie Radder of Sumas; and numerous nieces and nephews. HEERINGA, Herman - Visitation for Herman Heeringa, lifelong Lynden resident, will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Friday at Gillies Funeral Home. Burial will be at 10:15 a.m. Friday in Monumenta Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at First Christian Reformed Church with the Rev. Ananda Perera officiating. Mr. Heeringa died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 1997, at Touch of Country Adult Care Home in Sumas. He was 84. Born Aug. 27, 1913, to Thomas and Zena Assink Heeringa in Lynden, he attended Lynden Christian schools. After serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, Mr. Heeringa operated a dairy farm on Benson Road. He married Gertrude Scholten on March 5, 1946, in Lynden. She died in 1985. Mr. Heeringa was a member and former elder of First Christian Reformed Church. He enjoyed reading. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by brothers Henry, Lewis and Tom Heeringa and sister Dena VanderKooi. Survivors include sons Jim Heeringa of Sumas, Harold Heeringa and Marvin Heeringa, both of Lynden, and Les Heeringa of Kalamazoo, Mich.; daughters Marlys Heeringa of Lynden and Sena deJager and Elsie Bakker, both of Abbotsford, B.C.; brothers Peter Heeringa and Gerrit "Bud" Herringa, both of Lynden; sisters Sadie Radder of Sumas and Hermina Haveman of Lynden; 23 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

HEERINGA, Jeffrey Dale - Funeral services for Jeffrey Dale Heeringa will be conducted by the Rev. Julius Brandt at 11 a.m. Monday in Faith Reformed Church. Jeffrey, 14, Lynden, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Heeringa, died Friday (March 28, 1975). He is survived by his parents; three sisters, Lori, Lynne and Jill; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Heeringa of Lynden and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Nienhuis of Oak Harbor. Burial will follow in Monumenta Cemetery under the direction of Gillies Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation.

HEERINGA, Lewis - Funeral services for Lewis Heeringa, 75, of 9207 Benson Road, Lynden, were conducted on Monday in the First Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Philip Kok officiating. Burial preceded in Monumenta Cemetery. Heeringa, who died at his home on Friday, October 19, 1990, was born on June 19, 1915 and had been a lifetime Lynden resident. A retired dairy farmer, he was married to Lucy Haveman in Lynden on Sept. 6, 1935. He was a member, a former elder and a deacon of the First Christian Reformed Church and also was a former board member of Lynden Christian Schools and Lynden Christian Rest Home. He is survived by his wife Lucy of the family home; sons Ron and wife Jean of Ferndale and Stan and wife Helen of Lynden; five daughters, Mrs. Dorothy and husband Dennis Gross, Mrs. Ruth and husband Sid Mellema, Mrs. Beverly and husband Leonard Honcoop and Mrs. Lois and husband Wendell Feenstra, all of Lynden, and Mrs. Carolyn and husband Darrol Scheffer of Friday Harbor; 24 grand- and 13 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Peter, Herman and Gerrit Heeringa, all of Lynden, and Thomas Heeringa of Seattle; three sisters, Mrs. Dena Vander Kooi and Mrs. Hermina Haveman, both of Lynden, and Mrs. Sadie Radder of Sumas, and numerous other relatives. HEERINGA, Lorene - Visitation for Lorene Heeringa of Lynden will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Lynden Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Kevin Newburg officiating. Burial will follow in Monumenta Cemetery. Mrs. Heeringa died Thursday, Jan. 18, 1996, at St. Joseph Hospital. She was 76. She was born Aug. 1, 1919, in St. Louis to Allen and Ida Goerz Crabtree. In 1933, the family moved to Bellingham, where she graduated from the former Whatcom High School and married Henry Heeringa on June 7, 1940. The couple moved to Lynden in 1946, where Mr. Heeringa farmed with his brothers and then acquired his own farm in 1950. A homemaker, Mrs. Heeringa also worked as an office manager for Wolfkill Fertilizer in Lynden. She was a member of Lynden Church of the Nazarene. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983. Survivors include daughters Patricia Owens of Medina, Wash., Janis Ogle of Arlington Heights, Ill., Judith Marr of Spokane and Marilyn Phillips of Rougemont, S.C.; brother Jim Crabtree of Electric City, Wash.; sisters Ruth Crabtree and Becky Loomis, both of Seattle, and Flora Terpsma and Ruby Partlow, both of Bellingham; seven grandchildren; and numerous other relatives. HEERINGA, Lucy - Visitation for Lucy Heeringa of Lynden will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. Burial will be at 11:45 a.m. Monday in Monumenta Cemetery, followed by a funeral service at 12:30 p.m. in the First Christian Reformed Church in Lynden, with the Rev. Paul Hansen officiating. Mrs. Heeringa died at her home on Friday, Jan. 29, 1999. She was 82. She was born near Lynden on Oct. 28, 1916, to Jacob and Grace (Cook) Haveman. Mrs. Heeringa attended Ebenezer Christian School. On Sept. 6, 1935, she married Lewis Heeringa in Lynden. Together, they operated a dairy farm on Benson Road. She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church and was active in the Christian Health Care Center Auxiliary. Mrs. Heeringa enjoyed crocheting, quilting, gardening and traveling. Preceding her in death were her husband in 1990; sisters Ruby Tjoelker, Ann Reinstra and Lena Hoekstra; and brothers Clarence and Albert Haveman. Survivors include her daughters, Dorothy Gross, Beverly Honcoop and Lois Feenstra, all of Lynden, Ruth Visser of Sumas, and Carolyn Scheffer of Friday Harbor; sons Ron Heeringa of Ferndale and Stan Heeringa of Lynden; 24 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; sisters Rena Heeringa and Minnie Nymeyer of Lynden, Henrietta Gering of Vancouver, Wash., and Bertha Hawkinson of Tacoma; and numerous other relatives.

HEERINGA, Peter of Lynden went to be with his Lord on Friday, October 1, at the Christian Health Care Center in Lynden. He was 93. Visitation hours will be from 1 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 5, at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. Graveside services will be on Wednesday, Oct. 6, at 1:15 p.m. in Monumenta Cemetery followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. in the Faith Reformed Church with Pastor Tim Rotman officiating. Peter was the son of Thomas and Ziena (Assink) Heeringa and was born on the family farm near Lynden on December 25, 1910. A life-time Lynden area resident, he was married to Rena Haveman on February 17, 1932 and together they operated a dairy farm on the East Badger Road. Mr. Heeringa was a charter member of Faith Reformed Church where he also served on the Consistory and taught Sunday School. He served on the Lynden Christian School Board and also was a member and former President of the Board of the Christian Health Care Center. Along with his other activities, Peter also enjoyed traveling and keeping accurate records of his animals, farm and the weather. He was preceded by his parents, three sisters, four brothers, grandson Jeff Heeringa and is survived by his wife of seventy-two years Rena; children Joyce and husband John Fakkema of Oak Harbor, Ted and wife Frieda Heeringa of Everson, Don and wife Coggin Heeringa of Ellis Bay, WI., Rose and husband Don Scheffer and Randy and wife Sharon Heeringa of Lynden; twenty-nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; brother Gerrit and wife Nellie Heeringa of Lynden and numerous other relatives. Services are under the care of Gillies Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Lynden.

HERRINGA, Thomas Sr., age 87 of Lynden, passed away suddenly Saturday February 19, (1966) in a local rest home. Mr. Herringa had been a 65 year resident of Lynden and was an origianl Christian School Board member. Survivors include his wife Ziena, 6 sons, Peter, Herman, Lewis, Henry and Gerrit all of Lynden, Thomas Jr. of Seattle, 3 daughters, Mrs. Dena VanderKooy of Lynden, Mrs. Sadie Radder of Sumas, Mrs. Hermina Haveman of Lynden, 43 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the First Christian Reformed Church, Tuesday, February 22 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bernard Byma officiating. Burial will follow in the Monumenta Cemetery under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home.

HEERINGA, Thomas Jr., 68, of Seattle died May 14, 1991 in Seattle after an extended illness. He was born March 1, 1923 in Lynden, the youngest son of Lynden pioneers Thomas and Ziena Heeringa, and raised in the area. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. He is survived by his wife Rachel; his daughter Sheila of Seattle; his son Duane of Grand Rapids, Mich.; three sisters, Dena Vanderkooi and Hermina Haveman of Lynden and Sadie Radder of Sumas; and three brothers, Peter, Herman and Garrett, all of Lynden. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lewis and Henry. A graveside service was held Friday at Washington Memorial Park, followed by a memorial service at John Knox Presbyterian Church in Seattle with Pastor S. E. "Skip" Viau officiating. Arrangements were made by Bonney-Watson Parker Chapel of Seattle.

HEERSPINK, John - Funeral services for Mr. John Heerspink, age 76, who died at his home on Friday, May 15, 1987, were conducted on Tuesday, May 19, at 2 p.m. in Everson Christian Reformed Church with Revs. Carl Leep and John Klooster officiating. Burial followed in Monumenta Cemetery. Mr. Heerspink, 208 South Washington St., Everson, was born in the Netherlands on Feb. 20, 1911, and was married to Dora Klooster on April 27, 1938. In 1949 they moved with their family to British Columbia and then to the Everson area in 1952. He was a retired farmer and a member of Everson Christian Reformed Church. He is survived by his wife, Dora; three sons, Jake and wife Kathleen of Lynden, John and wife Sylvia of Sedro Woolley and Ralph and wife LouAnn of Everson; 14 grandchildren; a son-in-law, Jack Duree of Bellingham; and a sister, Mrs. Griet Smidt in Holland. He was preceded by a daughter, Mrs. Theresa Duree, in January of this year. Services were under the direction of Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden.

HEFFLEY, George J. - A private, graveside service for George J. Heffley of Bellingham will be in Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale. Mr. Heffley died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was 93. Born April 2, 1907, to Gottried and Mary Katherine (Hefbel) Heffley in Alsen, N.D., he had lived in Whatcom County for six years. Mr. Heffley attended Barber College in Seattle. Mr. Heffley married Verda Marie Palmer. She died in 1976. He later married Muriel Gene Straiton. She died in 1994. Mr. Heffley attended Eden's Lutheran Church in Riverside, Calif., and St. John's Lutheran Church in Bellingham. He was a 51-year-member of BPOE, a member of Lions Club for 13 years and a member of the Barber's Union for 47 years. For more than five years, he served as BPOE chaplain in Riverside, Calif., and received honorary achievement from Bellingham Lions Club. He also bowled for more than 60 years and won many trophies. Two sisters and three brothers died previously. Survivors include daughter Prudence "Kitt" Dolan of Bellingham, six grandchildren and many and great-grandchildren and nephews.

HEFFLEY, Verda M., age 63 of Riverside, Calif., passed away in that city Tuesday, April 27, (1976). She was a former resident of Bellingham and had resided in Riverside since 1959. She was a member of the Edens Lutheran Church. Survived by her husband, George A. Heffley of Riverside; 1 daughter, Mrs. Prudence Butler, City; 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 3 at 2 p.m. in Greenacres Memorial Park with Rev. Gerald Wilson officiating. Under the direction of the Westford Funeral Home.

HEFFLING, John Donald, age 44, of Rt. 6, Chuckanut Dr., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 20, (1954) following a marine accident in Hales Pass, Puget Sound. Mr. Heffling had been employed by the Bellingham Tug and Barge Co. for the past 3 years and was a member of the Inland Boatman's Union. Surviving relatives are his widow, Ann, and on, Donald Fox, both at home; mother, Mrs. Florence Duncan of Enterprise, Ore.; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Steele of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. William Nesbitt of Albuquerque, N.M.; two brothers, Gene Heffling of LaGrande, Ore., and Bill Duncan of Medford, Ore. The remains were forwarded by the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth to Enterprise, Ore., for services and interment.

HEFLIN, Daisy, 96, of 5280 Northwest Road, died Sunday (Dec. 12, 1982). She was born March 17, 1886, in Yorktown, Ind. She was a member of the Methodist Church. She is survived by a friend, Klaris Nelson. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Greenacres Memorial Park, with the Rev. Carol O. Fischer officiating. Arrangements are by Moles Funeral Home.

HEFLIN, Lea H., age 85, formerly of 2101 Alabama, passed away Thursday April 27, (1967). Mr. Heflin had resided in Bellingham for the past 33 years and was a life member of the Knights of Pythias and Knights of Kharroson. He leaves to survive 3 sons, Burris A., Allan P. and John W., all of California. Funeral services will be conducted Monday May 1 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home. Interment Greenacres.

HEFLIN, Nora, age 80, of 2101 Alabama St., passed away in a local hospital Sunday, Aug. 9, (1953). Mrs. Heflin had resided in this community for many years and was a member of the Eureka Methodist Church. Surviving relatives are two brothers, Lee and William Heflin, both of Bellingham. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. John W. Kuller Tuesday, Aug. 11, at 10:00 a.m. Final resting place, Greenacres Memorial Park.

HEFLIN, William A., age 88, 408 Alabama Street, passed away Wednesday, June 16, (1965). A twenty-five year resident of this city, Mr. Heflin was a retired cannery worker. Survivors are his widow, Daisy, and a brother, Lea Heflin, city. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted Tuesday, June 22 at 1:30 p.m. Final resting place Greenacres Memorial Park.

HEGBERG, Reuben Carl, age 69 of Bellingham, passed away Wed., June 1, (1977). Mr. Hegberg had been a resident of this community for the past 37 years. Surviving 3 grothers, Elick Hegberg of Orlando, Florida, Oscar Hegberg of Aberdeen, Wash. and Emmett Hegberg of Rockford, Illinois; 1 sister, Jeanette Nystrom, City; several nieces and nephews. HEGGELAND, Alf J., 90, of 5375 Belair (sic) Way, died Wednesday (March 29, 1989) at a local nursing home. Mr. Heggeland was born Feb. 14, 1899 in Norway. He lived in Bellingham four years. Previously he lived in McHenry, Ill., where he taught art and square dancing. Mr. Heggeland was active in a senior citizen center and the Moose Lodge. His wife Mary died in March 1985. Survivors include a daughter, Lorraine Shinkle of Whatcom County; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be private. Arrangements are by Greenacres Funeral Home.

HEGGEM, Aleceia Lynne - Visitation for Aleccia (sic) Lynne' Heggem of Bellingham will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Jones-Moles Funeral Home. Mrs. Heggem died Tuesday, June 24, 1997, She was 30. Born April 18, 1967, to Rodney and Linda Martin Rathjen in Bellingham, she graduated from Mount Baker High School in 1985. She married Eric Heggem on June 20, 1989, in Las Vegas. Mrs. Heggem was a member of First Christian Church. She was preceded in death by brother Trevor Rathjen. Survivors include her husband and son Collin Heggem of Bellingham; her father of Bellingham; her mother, Linda Struck, of Portland, Ore.; brother Tim Rathjen of Bellingham; grandfather Jesse Martin of Bellingham; and numerous other relatives.

HEGGEM, Anna M., age 72, of 1706 F Street, passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, Nov. 25, (1953). Mrs. Heggem had been a resident of this community for the past 18 years and was a member of the Lutheran Church. Surviving relatives are her husband, John, at home; three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Egerdal and Mrs. Louise Mastin (sic), both of Bellingham and Mrs. Olga Newman of Velva, N.D.; two sons, Magnus Heggem, of Bellingham, and Ben Heggem of Snohomish; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, also numerous nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth, where services will be conducted by the Rev. Joe Tom Tate Monday, Nov. 30, at 1:00 p.m. Final resting place, Bay View.

HEGGEM, Ben O. - Services have been set for 11 a.m. Friday at Bauer Funeral Chapel in Snohomish for Ben O. Heggem, a former Bellingham resident who died suddenly at his Rt. 2, Snohomish home Sunday. He was 55 years old. Mr. Heggem, a native of Decorah, Iowa, came to Bellingham in 1939 after serving in Army for 12 years. He moved to Snohomish County about 16 years ago and was a farm worker. Besides the widow, Marie, two daughters and a son survive at the family home. There are three sisters and one brother, Magnus Heggem of Bellingham. The sisters are Mrs. Louise Martin and Mrs. Gladys Egerdal of Bellingham and Mrs. Olga Newman of Vilva, N.D. Burial will be in Bay View Cemetery, Bellingham, at 2:30 p.m. Friday.

HEGGEM, Caroline, age 82 years, of Ferndale, passed away at a local hospital, Wednesday, May 26, (1948) following a brief illness. Mrs. Heggen had been a resident of Ferndale for the past thirty years. She is survived by her husband, Ingvald C.; three daughters, Mrs. Engel Bremnes, Bellingham, Ina and Ruth Heggem, both of Ferndale; two sons, Melvin, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Henet, of Ferndale; three sisters, Mrs. Andreana Birkeland, of Kalispel, Montana, Mrs. Minnie Anderson, of Spokane, and Mrs. Oleana Anderson, of Duluth, Minn.; also one brother, Matt Frosland, of L'Anse, Mich. Funeral services will be conducted from the Monroe Chapel in Ferndale, Saturday, May 29, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Norman Nelson officiating. Interment, Woodlawn Cemetery.

HEGGEM, Henet G. - Graveside services for Henet G. Heggem, 81, a custodian for 17 years with the Bellingham School District, will be at 10 am Thursday in Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Triumph Lutheran Church in Ferndale. The Rev. James Fugleberg will officiate at both services. Mr. Heggem, 1200 Birchwood Ave, died Sunday in Bellingham Care Center of natural causes. He was born Dec. 7, 1907 in Rockford, Wash. He had been a Whatcom County resident since 1917 and was a member of the Triumph Lutheran Church. He married Irene Erickson on Sept. 10, 1939, in Bellingham. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Norrin Heggem and Adrian Heggem, both of Bellingham; a daughter, Heidi Chervenock of Lynden; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother Melvin Heggem of Redlands, Calif; a sister, Ina Heggem of Bellingham; and numerous other relatives. HEGGEM, Ina C., 88, 1530 James St, died Friday, Aug. 21, 1992 in a local nursing home. She was born March 8, 1904 in Spokane, to Ingevald and Caroline Heggem. Miss Heggem was a registered nurse and had been a resident of Bellingham for 75 years. She was an avid reader and gardener. Survivors include her brother, Melvin Heggem of Redlands, Calif., five nephews and one nieces. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Woodlawn Cemetery. The Rev. Curtis G. HEGGEM, Ingevold Cornelius, age 85, of Ferndale, passed away Wednesday, January 14, (1953) at a local hospital. Mr. Heggem had been a resident of the Ferndale community for the past 34 years and was a member of the Lutheran Free Church of Ferndale. He leaves to survive two daughters, Miss Ina Heggem of Ferndale, and Mrs. Engel Bremness, of Bellingham; two sons, Melvin, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Henet, of Bellingham; five grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Jan. 19, at 1:30 p.m. from the Monroe Funeral Chapel, in Ferndale, with the Rev. Sylvester Rue officiating. Interment, Woodlawn Cemetery.

HEGGEM, Irene C. - Retired Western Washington University secretary Irene C. Heggem, 80 of Bellingham Care Center, died Friday (Nov. 8, 1991) at St. Joseph Hospital Main Campus. She was born to Nils and Anna Erickson on April 5, 1911, in Dalton, Minn., and had lived in Whatcom County, in both Ferndale and Bellingham, since 1936. Mrs. Heggem was a secretary at Western Washington University's education department, retiring in the mid 1970s. She was a member of Triumph Lutheran Church of Ferndale. Her husband, Henet G. Heggem, died in July 1988. Survivors include two sons, Norrin and Adrian Heggem of Bellingham; a daughter, Heidi Chervenock of Lynden; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two nephews. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Triumph Lutheran Church of Ferndale, with the Rev. Joel T. HEGGEM, Joseph, age 36, of 500 Potter street, passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, June 2, (1948). Mr. Heggem had resided in this community for the past 5 years and was a member of the Lutheran church. Surviving relatives are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Heggem of Bellingham; three sisters, Mrs. Louise Martin and Mrs. Gladys Egerdahl of Bellingham and Mrs. Olga Newman of Velva, N. HEGGEM, Olive May, age 89 of Lynden, passed away Jan. 22, 1990. She was born Nov. 18, 1900 in Painsville (sic), Minnesota and was a former resident of Everson She belonged to the Nooksack Methodist Church, and the Senior Citizen's Club. She was a former owner/operator of Heggem Floral & Nursery, Breckenridge Rd., Everson. She is survived by 3 daughters, Marjorie and Bon Perry of Bellingham, Joyce and LaRoy of Twin Hart, CA, Bessie Tillotson of Renton, WA; son Dennis and Ann Heggem of Anacortes, WA; 3 sisters in law, Olga Newman of Velva, North Dakota, Louise and Jack Martin, Gladys and Leonard Egerdal; brother in law Magnus and Barbara Heggem, all of Bellingham; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews. HEGLIN, Matilda J., of Anacortes, passed away at a local nursing home December 23, 1983. She was born in Moscow, Idaho, May 22, 1897. She had lived in this area since 1929. She received all her schooling in Ferndale. She was married to Walter N. Heglin in Bellingham, WA January 9, 1921. She is survived by 1 daughter, Violet Stewart of Anacortes; 2 sons, Warren E. Heglin, Don E. Heglin, both of Anacortes; 1 sister, Vivian Guist of Spokane; 1 brother, Ted Guist of Pullman, WA; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces & nephews. HEHR, Janice Rae, born July 5, 1940, passed away November 24, 2004 after a two and a half year battle with cancer. A long-time resident of Whatcom County, Janice was beloved homemaker as well as an avid seamstress and quilter. She is survived by her husband, Ken Hehr; her mother, Edith Gulseth; her brother Ronald Gulseth; her daughter Lori Waters; and two granddaughters, Rhiannon and Cassandra Waters. HEIDER, Ellen S., age 77, of 1414 East Maplewood, Bellingham, and a life time Whatcom County resident, died on Tuesday, February 7, (1978). A member of the Advent Christian Church of Bellingham, Mrs. Heider is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy (John) Goodman of Everson and four grandchildren, James Goodman of Lynden, Nancy Goodman of Bellingham and Ron and Susan Goodman of Everson. HEIDINGSFELDER, Marla Ann, 2 1/2 month old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Heidingsfelder of 1709 Twentieth Street passed away in a local hospital, Monday July 5, (1948). HEIDMAN, Doris Ann, formerly of Bellingham, died Tuesday, March 10, 1998, in Everett. She was 85. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greenacres Funeral Home. Born in Sheridan, Wyo., she moved to Everson in 1925 and graduated from Mount Baker High School. Mrs. Heidman owned the Mode O'Day clothing store and worked at several other stores, including J.C. Penney Co. Inc. She retired as a real estate agent. She lived in Everett for 12 years. She enjoyed having lunch with friends from Bellingham, crocheting, raveling, playing cards and cooking. Mrs. Heidman was preceded in death by her husband, Henry. Survivors include her daughter Janet Moreau, son Henry Heidman Jr., three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

HEIDMAN, Eddie F. age 84 of 2819 Birchwood Ave., Bellingham died Tuesday, July 25, (1989) in a Bellingham hospital. He was born April 3, 1905 in Blaine, WA and was a lifetime resident of the county. Mr. Heidman worked as a logger for several companies in Whatcom Co. and enjoyed fishing, woodcutting and gardening. Survivors include his wife Maxine of B'ham; one son Ed F. Heidman; 2 daughters Nancy J. Seholm and husband C. Eugene, Ronita J. HEIDMAN, Herman R. - Sedro Woolley - Herman R. Heidman, 64, a resident of Sedro Woolley for the past 30 years, died at United General Hospital Sunday (March 9, 1975). A native of Blaine, he was a retired logger. Mr. Heidman a Navy veteran of World War II. Surviving are five sisters, Martha Jones of Roseburg Ore., Ann Haugness of Auburn, Esther Strand of Bellingham, Edna McCarty of Seattle and Mabel Cook of Sedro Woolley; two brothers, Henry and Eddie of Bellingham. HEIDMAN, Maxine Alice (Schulmier) - A funeral service for Maxine Alice (Schulmier) Heidman of Bellingham will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Greenacres Funeral Home near Ferndale, with burial in Greenacres Memorial Park. Mrs. Heidman died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at her home. She was 85. Born Oct. 12, 1915, to Floyd and Vida Schulmier in Birch Bay, she was a lifetime Whatcom County resident. On June 5, 1937, she married Eddie F. Heidman Sr. at her parents' home in Birch Bay. Mrs. Heidman was a homemaker and an active member of Phi Sigma Alpha, Rho chapter, for many years. She enjoyed reading and going on walks and car rides. Her husband of 52 years, infant daughter Anita and sisters Lois Richmire and Beth Farley died previously. Survivors include son Eddie "Ed" F. Heidman Jr. of Bellingham, daughters Ronita Oberlander of Bellingham and Nancy Larson of Burlington, seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

HEIEREN, Carl Martin - A funeral service for Carl Martin Heieren of Chewelah, formerly of Ferndale, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Moles Funeral Home in Ferndale. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Enterprise Cemetery in Ferndale, with military honors provided by American Legion, Albert J. Hamilton Post No. 7. Mr. Heieren died Friday, March 23, 2001, in Spokane. He was 80. He was born March 27, 1920, to Christian N. and Carrie (Farden) Heieren in Helga, Minn. Mr. Heieren earned a degree in surveying from the Dunwoody Technical Institute in Minneapolis. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army with an Engineering Combat Group. On Nov. 14, 1942, he married Nina Lillquist in Framingham, Mass. Mr. Heieren lived in Montana, Idaho and Washington he was a registered land surveyor in all three states. He also served overseas as a civilian with the Corps of Engineers in Vietnam, Germany and Saudi Arabia. He retired in 1979 in Chewelah. His daughter Jacquelin Kay Shannon died in 1977. Survivors include his wife, of the family home daughters Meridythe Zamora of Custer and Carnita Wall of Vancouver, Wash. sons Richard Heieren of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Douglas Heieren of Orofino, Idaho sister Millie Heieren of Bemidji, Minn. brother Peder Heieren of Racine, Wis. 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

HEILERT, Bertha Evelyn of 3411 Alabama St. died Wednesday, Dec 27, 1995, at St. Joseph Hospital. She was 91. No service will be held. Inurnment will be at Greenacres Memorial Park. Born Feb. 6, 1904 to William and Musa Ireland Turner in Leeds, ND, she lived in Whatcom County for 14 years. She married Walter J. Heilert on March 3, 1929 in Santa Paula, Calif. Survivors include nieces Sue Johnson of Bellingham and Sandi Nevins of Ferndale, great-niece Kim Quinn of Bellingham and great-nephew Kevin Quinn of Bellingham. HEILERT, Walter John of Bellingham died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 1994, at St. Francis Extended Health Care. He was 91. Born Oct. 9, 1903, to John and Dorthea Lueke Heilert in Missouri, he married Bertha Turner on March 3, 1929, in Santa Paula, Calif. He and his wife moved to Bellingham in 1981. Survivors include his wife of Bellingham; and nieces Sandi Nevins of Ferndale and Sue Johnson of Bellingham. At Mr. Heilert's request, there will be no service. His ashes will be place at Greenacres Memorial Park.

HEILY, Robert G., age 79, who resided at 730 N. Garden St., passed away Thurs., Aug. 24, 1978. The Heily's came to B'ham from Seattle in 1943 to manufacture parachutes during WWII. After the war, Lowman & Heily Inc. manufactured childrens clothing & womens sportswear. Mr. Heily retired in 1974 & was a graduate of Univ. of Wash. & member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He was a long time member of the B'ham Rotary Club serving as president in 1954-55 & for many years belong[ed] to the B'ham Golf & County Club & Thirty and Six Dancing Club. He was also a member of the Assumption Catholic Church and leaves to survive his wife, Virginia; 2 daughter, Jan Forbes of Seattle & Katy Jusenius of Kent; 2 brothers, Raymond & John Heily & 2 sisters, Josephine Parry & Margaret Lowman all of Seattle; also numerous nieces & nephews. Christian Prayer Services will be held Sun., Aug. 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the Assumption Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Mon., Aug. 28 at 10 a.m. in the Assumption Catholic Church with Father Patrick Ritter as celebrant with burial to follow in Bayview Cemetery under the direction of Veroskes Jerns Funeral Chapel.

HEIMBERGER, Cecil O., age 52, of 2801 Cherry Street, passed away at a Seattle hospital Wednesday, August 30, (1950) following a short illness. Mr. Heimberger had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 40 years and was a member of the Garden Street Methodist Church. He was formerly truck driver for Northern Grocery. Mrs. Heimberger had resided here for the past 44 years and had attended the Garden Street Methodist Church. HEIMBERGER, Petra Serine, age 49, of the Magnolia Court Apts., passed away suddenly at her home, Thursday, October 27, (1949). Mrs. Heimberger had been a resident of Bellingham for the past six years, coming here from Ferndale. She was a member of the Lutheran Free Church in Ferndale and at the time of her death she was employed at St. Luke's hospital. HEIMBERGER, Virgil G., age 54 years, of 2815 Russell Street, passed away suddenly Saturday evening, July 24, (1948) at Lummi Island. HEIN, Margaret L., of 2114 King Street, passed away at her home Sunday, February 23, (1964) following an extended illness. HEINEMANN, Arthur, age 61, of R.F.D. 1, City, passed away in a local hospital Saturday, October 7, (1950). Mr. Heinemann had resided in this community for the past 30 years and was a well-known Pathologist with the Heinemann Laboratory. Surviving are his widow, Dr. Maria S. Heinemann at home; one daughter, Mrs. Eva Donaldson and one grandson, Sven Donaldson, both of Shady, New York; one brother, Fritz of Seattle, and one sister, Miss Johanna Heinemann of Nottingham, England. HEINEMANN, Maria S., Dr., of R.F.D. 1, Bellingham, passed away at her home Saturday, October 6, (1951). Dr. Heinemann operated Heinemann's Diagnostic Laboratory here. HEINEMANN, Theresa Faith, age 85, formerly residing on Hill St., passed away in a local hospital Friday, March 11, (1960). Miss Heinemann had been a resident of this community for the past 60 years and was a retired school teacher. Surviving relatives include five nieces; Mrs. Anna Morrell and Mrs. Fay Burnette, both of Bellingham, Mrs. Ruby Bradley of Seattle, Mrs. Donothy Bennett of Monroe, and Mrs. Lillian Sherman of Pueblo, Colo. HEINER, Gerald Burton "Jerry" 78, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1993, of natural causes at his home in Blanding, Utah. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bow Hill Cemetery in Bow. Mr. Heiner was born Dec. 9, 1914, in Deertail, Colo., to Elmer and Ora (Russ) Heiner. He married Georgia Mae Frey on Nov. 18, 1937. He moved to Skagit County in 1939, where he worked as an independent logger and auto mechanic. He lived in Blanchard, Bow and Mount Vernon, working for Concrete Nor'West in Mount Vernon from 1960 until he retired in 1977. On May 14, 1976, he was awarded the Lifesaving Award by the Washington Industrial Health and Safety department for rescuing a fellow worker in an accident at Concrete Nor'West. After retiring, Mr. Heiner became an accomplished artist specializing in crushed rock paintings. His art was featured in numerous regional and national shows and publications. His art, family and activities in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were central in his life. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife of Blanding; sons Harold Heiner of Bellingham, Bruce Heiner of Bow and Donald Heiner of Hudson, N.H.; a daughter Linda Kaer of Blanding; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

HEINER, Leonard K., age 81 of Blanchard, Skagit County, died Tuesday, July 20, 1982 in a Mt. Vernon Nursing Home. He was born June 2, 1901 in Stockton, Kansas. His marriage to Pearl Shumard took place April 20, 1924 in Brooklyn, Missouri. He came to Skagit County in 1944. He had been employed as a machinist at the Whidbey Island Naval Air Station and retired in 1961. He was a member of the Cornwall Park Church of God, Bellingham. HEINTZ, Heather Ann of Aldergrove, B.C., died of cancer Thursday, March 4, 1993, in Bellingham. She was 47. HEINZ, Catherine Welsh, of 2213 Ferndale Terrace, Ferndale, passed away Friday, July 1, 1983. Catherine came to Ferndale in 1954 from Olean, New York, with her husband John Welsh who preceded her in death in 1967. She was also preceded in death by 2 sisters and 4 brothers. She was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Ferndale, St. Josephs Guild, St. Josephs Alter (sic) Society, and the American Legion Auxiliary. In 1969 she retired from the Bon Marche in the fashion department from the time the Bon opened in Bellingham. HEISEY, Marie-Madeline - Memorial services are pending in Pennsylvania for Marie-Madeline (Cathy) Heisey, 50, 1124 Samish Way. Mrs. Heisey died Saturday, (Apr 27, 1985) at Madigan Army Medical Center at Fort Lewis after a lengthy illness. She was born Sept. 28, 1934, in Margny-sur-Metz, Francy and came to this country in 1961. She had lived in Bellingham with her family since 1980. She is survived by her husband, Earl B. Heisey, and three daughters, including Lisa K. Heisey of Bellingham. She was preceded in death by a son, William, in 1979. Also surviving are her mother, a sister and a brother, all in France. No local services are planned at this time.

HEISINGER, Harold Adam of Aptos, Calif., died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 1994, at his son's home in Bellingham. He was 84. Born June 10, 1910, in Marysville, Calif., he married June A. Helton on Aug. 30, 1933, in Oroville, Calif. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the College of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif. He worked as a public school administrator and received various outstanding service awards from the Stockton School District. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Stockton and the California State Teachers Association. Survivors include his wife of Aptos; sons Dr. Dale H. Heisinger of Bellingham and Brent Heisinger of San Jose, Calif.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives. No services will be held.

HEISLER, Frederick W., age 58 years, passed away at his home at Route 5, Bellingham, Sunday, August 11, (1946). Mr. Heisler was a car inspector for the Alaska Railroad and had been here the past two weeks. Deceased was a member of the Baptist Church and the B.P.O. Elks at Aberdeen, Wash. Surviving relatives are the widow, Madeline at home; one brother, James, and one sister, Mrs. Ben Cox at Howard, Kansas. HEISNER, Evelyn K. - A private family service for Evelyn K. Heisner of Bellingham will be today with the Rev. Scott Brents officiating. Mrs. Heisner died of cancer Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000 at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle. She was 63. Born Aug. 22, 1936, to Martin and Sophie Kuehl in New York City, she attended schools in Bayside, NY and graduated from Bayside High School. On June 7, 1957, she married Robert I. Heisner in Annapolis, Md. They moved to Florida, then Texas, then California, before returning to Maryland. They moved again to California and back to Maryland. In 1997, they moved to Bellingham. Survivors include her husband of the family home; son Robert Heisner of Maryland; daughters Suzanne Fischer of Bellingham and Joanne Winjum of Ferndale; six grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew. HEITBRINK, Elisabeth M., age 65 of 2426 Elm St., passed away Thurs. March 27, 1980. A 4 year resident of this community, Mrs. Heitbrink was a member of the Birchwood Presbyterian Church and a graduate of Biola Bible Institute, Los Angeles. Before coming to Bellingham 4 years ago, she devoted her life to working with orphanages and nursing services in Ireland and Austria. HEITZMAN, Rebecca G. - Visitation for Rebecca G. Heitzman of Everson will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Gillies Funeral Home followed by a funeral at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Steve Frieswick officiating. Mrs. Heitzman died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997. She was 80. Born Jan. 30, 1917, to Charles and Hilda Leppala Koski in Virginia, Minn., she moved to Washington in 1941. She married Russell Heitzman June 12, 1943, in Bremerton. He died in 1985. Mrs. Heitzman lived in Hood River, McMinnville, and Colton, Ore., before moving to Whatcom County in 1992. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hood River and of the Home Extension Club for many years. She enjoyed cooking, reading and growing house plants. Mrs. Heitzman was preceded in death by sisters, Violet Hoglund and Lillian Sy and brother Clyde Koski. Survivors include daughter Mary Branham of Everson, sons Steven Heitzman of Portland, Ore., and John Heitzman of Mill City, Ore., and one grandchild.

HEKELAAR, John, age 81, of 2610 Eldridge Avenue, passed away at a local hospital Friday, January 8, (1954) following a lingering illness. Mr. Hekelaar had resided in Bellingham for many years and was a retired longshoreman. He leaves to survive, one brother and one sister, both in Holland. Graveside services will be conducted at Bay View Cemetery, Wednesday, January 13, at 8:30 p.m. with the Rev. Carl A. Eggers, pastor of the Trinity Lutheran Church officiating and under the direction of the Westford Funeral Home.

HELANDER, Andrew Alfred, formerly of 710 E. Maryland, age 85, passed away Saturday, October 8, (1966). Mr. Helander had resided in this community for the past 56 years and was a retired machinist. Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Svea Osblom of this city. Graveside services will be conducted by Rev. Willard Buckner Wednesday, October 12 at 1:30 p.m. at Greenacres Memorial Park under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home.

HELD, Edward Emil, age 76, died November 15, 1994 in Seattle. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Jane Held, whom he married on October 19, 1941. He was born October 4, 1918 in Paterson, New Jersey, and was reared in Pasadena, California where he studied biology at the California Institute of Technology (Cal Tech). He completed his studies in zoology at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) where he was awarded a Ph.D. degree in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific and Asia during World War II. His doctoral research was related to a field which became particularly significant with the advent of the atomic age. He was subsequently invited to join the faculty of the Applied Fisheries Laboratory at the University of Washington because of special studies which they were carrying out to determine the effects of atomic bomb blast trials in the South Pacific on the ecology of the area. He became a leading Marine Radiation Ecologist and because of this, in 1972, was asked to move to the Washington D.C. area to serve as a Branch Chief at the atomic Energy Commission (AEC).

He was devoted to his family, which in addition to Mrs. Held, includes daughter Mimi Gardiner and granddaughter Suzanne Gardiner, both of Bellingham as well as six other children and two other grandchildren residing in the Seattle area. An additional survivor, his brother, Dr. Joe R. Held, resides in Arlington, Virginia. Following his retirement from government service, he returned to the Puget Sound area of which he was especially fond. Since his retirement he has devoted his time to community service in Kingston and elsewhere on the Kitsap Penninsula. Dr. Held served as a Board Member of the Kingston Community Center and a volunteer with the Kingstown Fire Department. He continued to have a special interest in environmental and ecological issues, and contributed his professional skill and insights to the community. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 28, 1994 in the Kingston Christian Church, Kingston, Washington.

HELD, Eva, 95, passed away Saturday, October 15, 1983 in Windsor, Colorado. She had been a Bellingham resident since 1942 and was a member of Faith Community Church of Bellingham. HELD, Helen J. of Ryderwood died Tuesday, May 20, 1997, in Bellingham. She was 83. Services will be held later. She was born March 17, 1914, to Gustav and Adriette Hawley Schiller in Seattle. Mrs. Held was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and enjoyed sewing, oil painting, knitting and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Held, in 1991. Survivors include son Rick Paylor of Issaquah, daughter Claudette Webster of Portland, Ore., four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. HELDER, Louis L. - Funeral services for Mr. Louis L. Helder, age 60, of 6652 Mission Road, Everson, were conducted on Tuesday, March 17, at 1:00 p.m. in the Everson Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Carl Leep officiating. Burial followed in Monumenta Cemetery. Mr. Helder, who died suddenly in a Bellingham Hospital on Friday, March 13, (1981) was born in Seattle and had been a Whatcom County resident for the past fifty-eight years. A member of the Everson Christian Reformed Church, Mr. Helder had been employed at the Mt. Baker Plywood Mill for the past twelve years and prior to that time had farmed for many years. He was married to Jenny Oostema in Lynden on July 23, 1942. He is survived by his wife, Jenny; three sons, John and his wife Sandra of Everson, Gerald of Lynden and James also of Everson; two daughters, Dorothy Helder and Mrs. Susan (Roland) Jeltema all of Whitinsville, Massachusetts; four grandchildren; two brothers, John W. Helder of Lynden and Gerard Helder of Holliston, Massachusetts and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden.

HELFERICH, Lottie Irene, age 72, of 1398 Rural Ave., Bellingham, passed away in a Bellingham Nursing Home, Thursday, Oct. 26, (1961). She was born in Savanna, Ill. In 1897 she moved to the Lynden-Everson area and for the past 15 years she had lived in Bellingham. She is survived by her husband, William at home; two brothers, Francis Taylor of Lynden, and Floyd Taylor of Everson; one half-brother, George Colyer of Wenatchee, and one sister, Mrs. Ina B. Colyer of Lynden. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 28, at 2 p.m. in the Gillies Funeral Home, with Rev. James Updike officiating. Concluding services and interment Woodland Cemetery.

HELFERICH, William G., age 79 of 1398 Rural Ave., Bellingham passed away in a local hospital Sunday July 15, (1962) following an extended illness. HELGASON, Ingibjorg, age 86, of Blaine, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 8, (1958) at a local hospital following a short illness. HELGASON, John, a resident of Blaine for the past 44 years, passed away Friday, October 25, (1946) from a lingering illness. He is survived by one niece, Gudrun Teller, of Seattle, and one foster son, S. H. Goodman, of Custer. HELGATH, Edith Lou, "DeDe" age 47, of 131 E. Cedar Drive, Lynden passed away suddenly Wed., Sept. 15, (1976). A life time resident of Whatcom County, she along with her husband, Jim had operated the Lynden Sears Catalog Store for the past nine years. Mrs. Helgath was a member of the Lynden United Methodist Church, the Gamma Orthopedic Guild, was past president of the Lynden Jaycee wives and past worthy advisor of the Lynden Rainbow Assembly No. 70. She was married to James Helgath on March 19, 1950 in Lynden. Besides her husband, James; she is survived by two sons, Gregory and Douglas; a daughter, Myla all of the family home; her mother, Mrs. George Manner of Bellingham and a brother, Mr. Lowell Manner of Redwood City, Calif. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Sept. 17 at 2 p.m. in the Lynden United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. HELGATH, James "Jim" age 77, passed away in Lynden on Thursday, February 9, 2006. He was born on January 13, 1929, to Paul and Orel (Jackman) Helgath in Northwood, WA (Lynden). Jim attended Northwood Elementary School and graduated from Lynden High School. He married Edith (Dede) Manner on March 19, 1951. Soon after marriage, Jim left to serve in the Army during the Korean War. When he returned, he worked for Valley Motor Chevrolet and at LTI as a mechanic. His next business venture, together with his wife Dede, was reestablishing the Sears Catalog Store in Lynden, where he was a highly regarded business. Dede preceded Jim in death in 1976. He retired from the business in 1985. Jim was involved in the Lynden community in many ways. He was a volunteer fire fighter for 30 years, reaching the rank of captain. Jim was past president of both the Lynden Jaycees, and the Lynden Chamber of Commerce. He was also a charter member of the Mt. Baker Rotary Club. Jim married Donna Waldemar on May 10, 1980. The couple moved out to Sandy Point where Jim enjoyed boating, crabbing and claming. He and Donna were season ticket holders and avid fans of the U.W. Huskies football team. They were also members of the Bellingham Golf and Country Club, where Jim enjoyed spending time golfing and socializing. Jim is survived by his wife, Donna, children Greg Helgath of Lynden, Doug (Jani) Helgath of Lynden, Myla (Larry) Musselwhite of Ferndale, stepchildren Richard (Tami) Waldemar of Lynden and Cindy (Jeff) Huleatt of Arlington, 11 grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. A casual outdoor celebration of Jim's life will be held at Jim and Donna's home at 4045 Salt Spring Drive, Sandy Point, on Thursday, February 16, 2006, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Moles Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Lynden.

HELGATH, Paul K., Sr., age 76, of 1294 Haveman Rd., Lynden, passed away Sunday, April 11, (1976) in a Seattle hospital. Born in Lynden in 1900, Mr. Helgath had been employed for many years by the Western Condensing before his retirement in 1965. He had served on the Lynden School Board for many years and had also been a member of the Teamsters Local No. 231. He was married to Orel Jackman in Lynden in 1926; Mrs. Helgath passed away in 1955. He is survived by two sons, James Helgath of Lynden and Paul K. Helgath Jr., in Kent, Wa.; two brothers, Carl in Burlington and Fred of Lynden; a sister, Mrs. Thelma Wesley of Tacoma; 5 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. HELGESEN, Halver, age 83, passed away at the family home, 3025 Walnut Street, Tuesday, April 28, (1953). Mr. Helgesen had resided in this community for the past 63 years and was a retired dairy and chicken farmer. Deceased was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Lawrence; a member of the Whatcom County Dairy Association and Washington Co-op, and a charter member of the Hopewell Grange. HELGESEN, Henry S. - A private family graveside service for Henry S. Helgesen, 85, formerly of Lawrence Road, was held Dec. 23 at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery with Rev. Stanley Jacobson officiating. Mr. Helgesen died Dec. 17, 1994 at Christian Rest Home in Lynden. He most recently had resided at Heritage Apartments in Lynden, following longtime residences in the Lawrence and Hopewell community, as well as in Nooksack. He was a retired accountant at the Whatcom County Auditor's Office, and with the Internal Revenue Service. During the 1960s he had been a candidate for the office of county auditor. He was the son of pioneer Siper Road residents Oliver and Olga Helgesen. His wife Laurel and a brother, Clifton, also preceded him in death. He is survived by two daughters, Carole Pierce of San Jose, Calif., and Darla Gellerman of Bellingham; several cousins in Eugene, Ore., and Everett; distant relatives Edna Dale of Bellingham; and John Reid of Lawrence, who was a close neighbor and friend.

HELGESEN, Laurel M. - Funeral services for Mrs. Laurel M. Helgesen, age 65, who died at her home suddenly on Thursday, February 21, (1980) were conducted on Saturday, February 23, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Gillies Funeral Home with Rev. Lewin Clefisch officiating. Burial followed in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Born in Tonoda Creek, Washington, Mrs. Helgesen had resided at 170 West First Street, Nooksack, and had returned to this area with her husband Henry three years ago from Los Angeles. A retired waitress, she had been a member of the Culinary and Beverage workers Union and the Immanuel Lutheran Church where she had been active in a number of church bible study groups. She was married to her husband Henry in San Francisco in February of 1945. She is survived by her husband Henry; two step-daughters, Mrs. Carol Price (sic) of San Jose, California and Mrs. Darla Gellerman of Linden, California; five grandchildren and a great-grandson; two sisters, Mrs. Edith Partain of Seattle and Mrs. Lela Whitman of Cashmere; a brother, Mr. Murdith Brannan of Spray, Oregon and numerous nieces and nephews and also her mother-in-law, Mrs. Olga Helgesen of Everson.

HELGESEN, Olga, passed away at Bellingham Care Center on Friday, Jan. 17, 1992, just a few days before her 104th birthday. Mrs. Helgesen was born on Jan. 26, 1888 in Sioux Falls, S.D. to Lars and Carrie Olson. She came to Lawrence in 1906 and married Oliver Helgesen there on Jan. 28, 1907. Olga and Oliver lived on the Helgesen homestead most of their married life. Olga was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Everson and a lifetime member of the Hopewell Grange No. 518 and Teamsters Local 231. For many years she was also active in the Hopewell and Lawrence community affairs. She was also employed by a local cannery for many years. She had resided at Bellingham Care Facility for the past seven years. She is survived by her son, Henry S. Helgesen of Everson; four grandchildren, Carole Pierce of San Jose, Calif., Darla Gellerman of Bellingham and MaRae Testerman and Lyle Ambler of Seattle; 7 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Oliver in 1966 and a son Clifton Helgesen. Visitation will be until 9 tonight and from 9 a.m. until noon on Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Everson with Pastor Cindy Salo officiating. Burial will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Services and arrangements are under the care of Gillies Funeral Home of Lynden.

HELGESEN, Oliver, age 79, Rt. No. 2, Everson, passed away Wednesday, March 23, (1966). Mr. Helgesen was born at Lawrence, Wn., and was a lifetime resident of this county. He was a retired shingleweaver; a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Lawrence; a member of the Whatcom County Dairymen's Assn., and Shingleweavers Union, Local No. 2580. Surviving are his widow, Olga, at home; a son Henry, of Los Angeles, Calif.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Annie Kingsley of this city. Services were conducted by Pastor Orning Fjelstad Friday, March 25 at 1 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Lawrence, under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home. Burial followed in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

HELGESON, Charlotte J. - Funeral services for Charlotte J. Helgeson age 90 of 1200 Birchwood Ave. will be Friday Nov. 16 at 3 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home. Interment Bayview Cemetery. Mrs. Helgeson passed away Nov. 14, (1984). She is survived by 1 son Edward Helgeson of city. 2 daughters Anna Helgeson of Portland, OR & Jennie Chapman of city. There are 6 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren & 5 great great grandchildren. Mrs. Helgeson was a resident of Bellingham since 1912. HELGESON, Christine, age 71, who resided at 2423 D Street, passed away in a local hospital, Thursday, Feb. 23, (1961) following an extended illness. Mrs. Helgeson had resided in Bellingham for the past 60 years and was a member of the Central Lutheran Church. She leaves to survive her husband, Gerald Helgeson at the family home; three brothers, Sam O., Hans and Joseph Hanson, all of Bellingham, also numerous nieces and nephews. Rev. Obed L. G. Vold will conduct funeral services on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 2 o'clock in the Chapel of Bingham & Jerns Funeral Home. Interment Bayview Cemetery.

HELGESON, Conrad, age 86 of 1942 Trigg Road, Ferndale, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 1980 in Bellingham. He had been a lifetime resident of Whatcom County and leaves to survive 2 sons, 1 daughter, Shirley Davis of Bellingham; 4 grandsons Greg Ackerson, Kim Ackerson and Gary Ackerson, all of Ferndale; Mike Ackerson of Van Zandt, Washington; 1 granddaughter, Kathleen of Marysville; 12 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Friday, January 2 at 1 p.m. in Greenacres Memorial Park. Arrangements by Moles Funeral Home.

HELGESON, Doris I., age 70 years, residing at 2274 Brown Road, Ferndale, passed away Monday, January 1st, (1968) after a brief illness. She had resided in Bellingham for 37 years prior to moving to Ferndale, and was a member of the Congregational Church. She leaves to survive her husband, Conrad Helgeson; one son, Gene Ackerson; two daughters, Mrs. Shirley Davis and Mrs. June Stedman, both of Bellingham. Also 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 5th in the Chapel of Bingham and Jerns Funeral Home, Rev. J. Vincent Crane officiating. Interment at Greenacres Memorial Park.

HELGESON, Edward M., 74, 5815 Mertz Road, died Sunday (Jan. 5, 1986) at his home. Mr. Helgeson was born Jan. 16, 1911, in Radersburg, Mont., and had been a Whatcom County resident for 73 years. He was a farmer and sports fisherman, who loved people and loved to travel. Mr. Helgeson also was an avid gardener. He was a member of the Christy Travel Club and was particularly fond of visiting Reno, Nev. Survivors include his wife, Ione L. of Bellingham; two daughters, Sharon Strickler of Bellingham and Charlene Boxx of Ferndale; one son, Edward A. of Bellingham; two sisters, including Jennie Chapman of Everson; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous other relative. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at Greenacres Memorial Park and funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Greenacres Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Leonard C. Ericksen officiating. Burial will be in Greenacres Memorial Park.

HELGESON, Gerald, age 79, of 2185 Seamount Dr., Ferndale, passed away Sat. May 12, 1979. Mr. Helgeson was a lifetime resident of Whatcom Co. & is survived by 1 brother, Conrad of Ferndale. Graveside services will be conducted by Rev. Maynard Oss, Tues., May 15th at 2 p.m. in Bayview Cemetery. Burial under the direction of Moles Funeral Home.

HELGESON, Robert A., age 50, of 424 14th St., Bellingham, died Wednesday, February 24, (1988) in Bellingham. He was born December 28, 1937 in Nome, ND & was a resident of Bellingham since 1973. Mr. Helgeson was owner & operator of Village Lighting, a member of Bellingham Golf & Country Club, and the Home Builders Assoc. Survivors include, his wife Patricia of Bellingham; 5 children, Randall Helgeson, Lori & husband Fritz Fields of Ventura, CA, Darin Helgeson of Mesa, AZ, Howard Helgeson & Brian Helgeson both of Bellingham; 3 step-children, William Carson of Seattle, Kelli Sue Carson of Homestead, FL, & James Loy Carson of Bellingham; 2 brothers, Harris Helgeson & Donald Helgeson both of Eugene, OR; 1 sister Marilyn Moore of Pleasant Hill, OR; numerous nieces & nephews. Memorial service will be held Monday, February 29 1 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home.
