HEAD, Clair D. - Graveside services for Clair D. Head,77, were Thursday at Greenacres Memorial Park, with the Rev. Gary Brice officiating. Mr. Head recently moved to Bellingham from Snohomish. He died Monday (July 27, 1987) at home. He was born Feb. 19, 1910 in Iowa. He is survived by a daughter Patty Dreyer of Bellingham; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Arrangements were by Jones Funeral Home.

HEAD, Elvis Truman, of Lynden, passed away on June 14, 2004 at age 79. Elvis was born March 26, 1925 in Snyder, Texas to parents Christopher and Pearl Head. Elvis enjoyed camping and fishing. He also loved to travel and enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. Elvis married Jean Brooks on November 25, 1944 on Whidbey Island, Washington. Elvis is preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Richardson in 2002, and son, David Head in 1969. He is survived by his wife, Jean (Brooks) of Lynden and daughters, Nita Snydar and husband Bob, and Sherry Olson, both of Ferndale; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and other friends. A graveside service will be held Thursday, June 17, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ferndale, with Pastor Al Currier officiating. Ferndale|Moles Funeral Home & Cremation Service.

HEAD, Frank Gordon, age 72, who resided at 2720 Sterling Drive, passed away on Thursday, February 14, (1963) following an extended illness. Mr. Head was a Veteran of W.W.I. He was a retired farmer, and for many years lived on Orcas Island having been a resident of Bellingham for the past twenty years. He leaves to survive his brother S. R. Head of Orcas Island, his sister Mrs. Carl Baker of Myrtle Creek, Oregon, his nephew Gordon Harris of Bellingham. Also one other nephew and three nieces. Funeral services will be on Monday, Feb. 18 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Bingham & Jerns Funeral Home with rev. W. Robert Webb officiating. Cremation will follow.

HEAD, Frederick George, who resided at 2501 Lynn Street, passed away Thursday, Nov. 13, (1952) following a brief illness. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. R. B. Harris, Bellingham, Mrs. Carl Baker, Brookings, Ore.; two sons, Frank Head, Bellingham, Sidney R. Head, Seattle; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 17, at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Bingham-Dahlquist and Jerns Funeral Home with the Canon E. B. Smith officiating. Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, November 18, at 2:00 p.m. in the East sound Cemetery, Orcas Island.

HEAD, James Hilary, age 66, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 29, 2003, surrounded by his family after a long battle with heart disease. He was born on December 11, 1936 to Lura (Pope) and Hilary Head in Edmonton, Alberta. Jim enjoyed golfing and fishing. He was a member of the Bellingham Yacht Club, the Bellingham Executive Club and Family Motor Coach Association. He was also the previous owner of Vacationland RV Sales. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his son Donald Head and his daughter Cheryl Head. He is survived by his daughters Colleen Marshall and Barbara and husband Todd Hawley; daughter-in-law Leeann Head; and sister Margaret and husband Barry Popkey of Calgary; ten grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; one niece and two nephews. HEAD, Nina "Jean", age 81, of Bellingham, passed away Friday, August 24, 2007, in Bellingham. Jean was born November 5, 1925, in Bellingham to William and Nina (Sage) Brooks. She is survived by 2 daughters, Nita (Bob) Snydar and Sherry Olson; brothers, Marion (Voleene) Brooks and Merle (Armiene) Brooks; sister, Linda (Jack) Garton; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Elvis; son, David; daughter, Sandra Richardson; brother, Jerry Brooks. HEADLAND, Josephine, age 75, of 406 Laurel Street, passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, January 15, (1947). Mrs. Headland had resided in this community for the past forty-six years and leaves to survive one daughter, Mrs. Katie Kirk, of Port Angeles, Wash., and one son, Otto, of Hoquiam, also five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. James M. Wilson, Saturday, January 18, at 1:30 p.m. Final resting place, Greenacres Memorial Park.

HEADLEY, Lorraine, 93, 360 D St., Blaine, died Tuesday (Aug. 26, 1986) in Blaine. She was born Sept. 13, 1892, in West Virginia. She was a member of Unity Church. At her request, no funeral services will be held. Survivors include a brother Klyne Headley of Vancouver, B.C.; and a sister, Helen Marie Quigley of Santa Rosa, Calif. The body will be cremated. Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home.

HEADRICK, Frank B., age 79 years, of 2117 New Street, passed away at a local hospital Wednesday, March 26th, (1952) following a lingering illness. Mr. Headrick had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 50 years and was a retired contractor. He was a member of the First Christian Church, the 99 Men's Club and the Elder Emeritus, of the First Christian Church and an honorary member of the W.C.T.U. Mr. Headrick is survived by his wife, Minnie, three daughters, Mrs. Birdie Draper, of Mansfield, Wash.; Mrs. May Walton, of this city; Mrs. Faye Rickerson, of Turlock, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 29th, at 3:p.m., within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home with the Rev. C. Eugene Sabin, of First Christian Church, and the Rev. Donald Rickerson, of Turlock, Calif., officiating. Interment, Bay View Cemetery.

HEADRICK, Houston - Lynden resident Houston Headrick died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1992, at a Bellingham health care center. He was 91. Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Gillies Funeral home in Lynden. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Word of Life Family Church in Lynden with the Rev. Don Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Lynden Cemetery. He was born Nov. 1, 1901, in VanBuren, Mo., to Zimri and Emaline Headrick. He married Tina Cowin May 23, 1925, in VanBuren. They moved to Whatcom County in 1929. He raised strawberries for many years and did carpentry work until his retirement. He was a member of Word of Life Family Church in Lynden. Mr. Headrick was preceded in death by his wife Tina in 1979 and son Gene in 1942. Survivors include his daughters, Rosalie Doornenbal of Bellingham, Delores Nouwens of Kirkland and Judy Nigretto, both of Kirkland, and Shirley Wright of Mountlake Terrace; sister Ocie Holt of Winona, Mo.; and 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. HEADRICK, Tina A., age 74, of 1712 E. St., Lynden, passed away Fri., June 15, 1979. A member of the Lynden assembly of God Church, Mrs. Headrick was born in VanBuren, Missouri & moved to Whatcom Co. in 1929 with her husband, Huston. They were married in Van Buren, Missouri on May 23, 1925. Besides her husband, Huston, she is survived by 4 daughters, Rosalie Doornenbal of Lynden, Mrs. Delores Nouwens, Mrs. Shirley Wright & Mrs. Judy Nigretto all of Seattle; 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, Lee & Melvin Cowin of Lynden & Ellis Cowing of Ferndale; a sister, Mrs. Carrie Nelson of Lynden; numerous nieces & nephews. She was also preceded in death by a son, Gene in 1942. Funeral services will be conducted on Mon., June 18 at 3:30 p.m. in the Lynden Assembly of God Church with Rev.'s Bob Fort & Harold Arneson officiating. Burial will follow in Lynden Cemetery. HEAL, Henry C., age 78, passed away at the family home, 2807 Sunset Drive, Sunday, Aug. 17, (1958). Mr. Heal had resided in this community for the past 56 years, for 41 years had been associated with the First National Bank (Seattle 1st National); was a member of the Bellingham Rotary Club and past president; was past district governor of Rotary International; was a member and past master of Whatcom Lodge No. 151 and was a member of Fairhaven Lodge No. 73, F.&A.M. Mr. Heal had been a very active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and had been associated with his sister-in-law, Miss Rebecca Fravel and Mrs. Blanche Tanner in the operation of "The Fravels" china shop. The remains will lie in state at the Jones Funeral Home. Services will be conducted from St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Father W. Robert Webb officiating, Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 1:30 p.m. Final resting place Bay View.

HEAL, Lottie M., passed away Wednesday, December 29, (1943) following a two month illness. Mrs. Heal had been a resident of Bellingham for the past forty-five years and was a member of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church and the Women of Rotary. She is survived by her husband, Henry C. Heal, two sisters, Mrs. T. De Witt Tanner and Miss Rebekah Fravel, all of Bellingham, and one brother, Nason Fravel of Blanchard, Wash. Her remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. E. B. Cannon Smith within St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Friday, December 31, at 3 p.m. Final resting place, Bay View Cemetery.

HEAL, Louise, age 80, of 2009 B St. passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, (1964). Mrs. Heal hadd resided in this community for the past 73 years and was a member of the Congregational Church; had been active in the local Red Cross Chapter where for many years she had been Area Production Chairman; was a member of the Aftermath Club, Zenobia Club of the Daughters of the Nile, and was a member of St. Lukes Assistance League. Surviving relatives include one sister, Mrs. J. R. Vail of Mt. Vernon; two nieces, Mrs. David N. Eaden of Seattle and Miss Jean McGregor in India, and one nephew, Lyle Vail of Mt. Vernon. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by the Rev. Donald Lamka Monday, Jan. 20, at 1:00 p.m. Final resting place Bay View.

HEALD, Bertha R., 93, of 416 Dayton St., Edmonds died in a local nursing home Jan. 25, (1972). She was born July 4, 1878, in Springville, Iowa, and had made her home in the Edmonds area for the past 32 years. She came from Grandview, with her husband, John, who preceded her in death in 1952. She was a member of Analia Chapter No. 112 Order of Eastern Star. She leaves two sisters, Ora Barclay of Fullerton, California and Olive Pierce of Sioux City, Iowa; two brothers, Cencil Crew of Fullerton, Calif. and Roy Crew of Waterloo, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Mars. Margaret Heald of Edmonds; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Ritualistic services will be conducted by Analia Chapter No. 112 OES at 1 p.m. Saturday in Baker's Funeral Home Edmonds. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery Seattle, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Frank Brown of the Edmonds United Methodist Church.

HEALIER, Shirley Mae - Seattle resident Shirley Mae Healier, 55, died after a long illness Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1992 in Seattle. Services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Butterworth-Manning-Ashmore Funeral Directors at 300 E. Pine St. in Seattle. She was born Feb. 24, 1955. She graduated from Bellingham High School. Survivors include longtime friend and companion, Richard Ogg, of Seattle; brother Doug Linn of Seattle; daughters Valora Panlasigui of Marysville and Marlene Fuller of Seattle; son Joe Vinup of Bellevue and Steven Vinup of Granite Falls; six grandchildren; and three nieces and nephews.

HEALY, Joseph J., age 74, who resided at 2315 Larrabee Ave., passed away at his residence on Thursday, Dec. 21, (1961) following an extended illness. Mr. Healy had resided in Bellingham for the past 12 years and was a retired cannery man. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church. He leaves to survive his wife, Mrs. Elsie Healy; two sons, James P., Harry B., residing at home; two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Nester of Enumclaw and Mrs. Anne Horn of California; one brother, James Healy of North Bend, Ore. HEANSKI, Frank Albert, age 57, of Everson Route 2, passed away at a Bellingham hospital April 22, (1950) following a short illness. He had been a resident of the Everson district for the past six years, having been a former resident of the Lynden district. Mr. Heanski was a member of Whatcom County Dairymen's association and the Washington Co-Op. Survivors include Mae; one daughter, Mrs. Florence Roth, of Seattle; two sons, Albert, at home, Cecil with the U.S. Army in Japan; one grandsons, Frank Albert Roth; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Heanski, of Los Angeles, Calif.; three sisters, Etta Slinger, of Combia, Wis., Mrs. Hazel King, of El Monte, Calif., and Mrs. Edna Stineman, of Riverside, Calif. Numerous nieces and nephews. HEARSEY, Ross Bryan, age 3 months, passed away Sat., July 12, 1980. He was the son of William & Sonia Hearsey of Mukilteo, Washington, grandson of Mr. & Mrs. Milton Quam of Bothell, and Mr. & Mrs. H. R. Hearsey of Bellingham. Memorial services will be held Wed., July 16 in Bellevue.

HEATH, Albert J., age 84, of 2118 James St., passed away in a local hospital Saturday, Aug. 13, (1960). Mr. Heath was a retired piano tuner, had resided in Bellingham for the past 31 years, was a veteran of the Spanish-American War; was a member of the Weisenburger Camp No. 8, United Spanish-American War Veterans and the William Mathews Post No. 1585, V.F.W. Survivors are three nephews, Eugene Winkler, of Bellingham, Roy Kruth and Harry Kruth, both of Los Angeles, Calif., and one niece, Mrs. William Brown of Elroy, Arizona. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by the Rev. C. W. Cooksley, August 15 at 1:30 p.m. followed by cremation.

HEATH, Billie of Enumclaw, Wash., died July 25, 1996 in Enumclaw. She was 83. A graveside funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Greenacres Cemetery with the Rev. Scott Brents of Central Lutheran Church officiating. Mrs. Heath was born Dec. 1, 1912 in Ferndale. She worked in nursing and health care. She was a past matron of Eastern Star, a Meals on Wheels driver for the Senior Center Enumclaw and member of the Enumclaw Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her brother Baker Kellman. HEATH, Bruce B., 80, of Phoenix, died Monday, March 14, 1994, in Phoenix. Burial will be in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Houston. Mr. Heath was born Dec. 18, 1913, to Frederick and Alvina Griffin Heath in Bellingham. He attended the University of Washington and was a member of Chi Psi Fraternity. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II in the African and European theaters. He left the Army as a major. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Stark Heath. Survivors include daughters Linda Heath Davis of Houston and Sheree Moody of Edmonton, Okla; and six grandchildren. Arrangements are by Hansen Mortuary, 8314 N. 7th St., Phoenix, AZ.

HEATH, Conrad B., age 89, of 2735 Broadway passed away Wed. April 13, (1983). Mr. Heath had resided in Bellingham for the past 65 years, was a retired hardware salesman and co-owner of Hanning Hardware. He was a member of the United Commercial Travelers. He leaves to survive his wife Eileen of the family home; 1 son Robert and 1 daughter Marjorie Monroe both of this city; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Mon. HEATH, Eileen Constance, age 94 of 2735 Broadway, Bellingham, died at her residence Sunday, June 13, 1993. She was born in Bristol, England on Jan. 31, 1899 to Ernst and Louise Cox. In her early years she sang as a soloist in numerous churches and worked as a researcher at Bellingham Title. Preceded in death by her husband Conrad Heath in 1983. Survived by a son, Robert Heath and wife Dorothy of Bellingham; a daughter Marjorie and husband John Monroe; six grandchildren, Tom Monroe, Marianne Monroe, Theresa Klein, Paula Clark, John Heath, and Terry Heath; and nine great grandchildren. HEATH, Fred G., age 71, who resided 5149 Elder Road, Ferndale, passed away in a local hospital, May 16, (1983). He had been a lifetime resident of Bellingham and was a member of The Masonic Lodge F and AM. He leaves to survive his wife, Billie Heath of Ferndale; one son, Fred B. Heath of Seattle; 1 daughter, Barbara Graham and husband, Ellis of Enumclaw; one brother, Bruce Heath of Arizona; also 2 grandchildren. HEATH, Laura, age 73 years, of 2118 James, passed away at a local hospital Thursday, Sept. 30th, (1954) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Heath had resided in Bellingham for the past 26 years and was a member of the Church of the Assumption and the Wisenberger Camp No. 10 of the Spanish-American War Veterans Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband, Albert Heath at the home. Rosary will be said Sunday, Oct. 3, at 7:30 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home. Requiem mass will be read Monday, Oct. 4, at 9:30 a.m. within the Church of the Assumption with the Rev. Father Charles Cross officiating. Interment Bay View Cemetery.

HEATH, Lloyd E. of Bellingham died Thursday, June 2, 1994. He was 88. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Jones-Moles Funeral Home. He will be flown to New York to be buried by his wife. Born Dec. 2, 1905, in Warrington, Ga., to George Elroy and Nettie Heath, he was a longtime resident of Bronx, N.Y. A graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, he was a switchman for the New York City Transit Authority. He and his wife of 49 years, Wessie, traveled worldwide after his retirement. After complications from glaucoma left him blind, he moved to Bellingham to be cared for by his daughter, Lorita Heath Collins. In Bellingham, he was active in the seniors day-care program and enjoyed listening to taped materials for the blind. He was preceded in death by his wife in June 1978. Survivors include his daughter in Bellingham and daughter Carolyn Heath Jones in Bronx; four grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren.

HEATH, Malcolm G. - No services were held for Dr. Malcolm G. Heath, 75, a San Juan County physician who brought his hospital patients to Bellingham. Dr. Heath died June 22, (1989) in Gig Harbor, where he had lived since 1986. He was born in 1913 in Raleigh, N.C., and graduated from the University of North Carolina and McGill University Medical School. As part of his practice in Friday Harbor, Dr. Heath used ferries, private boats, planes and other modes of transportation to reach patients all over San Juan County. He served as a captain in the 17th Airborne Division of the U.S. Army during World War II, crossing the Rhine River during the Battle of the Bulge. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; a son, Andrew Heath of Deming; a daughter, Paula Heath of Seattle; and two sisters, Elizabeth Griffith of Austin, Colo., and Harriet Treverton of Kingswood, Texas.

HEATH, Robert "Bob," age 84, passed away August 3, 2008 at home in Bellingham. He was born June 4, 1924 in Bellingham, WA to Conrad and Eileen (Cox) Heath. Bob married Dorothy Johnson on March 2, 1945 in St. Paul, MN. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1945. Bob worked for Western Woodworking Company and later owned Hanning Hardware in Bellingham. He then worked for Haskell as an architectural draftsman until his retirement. Bob was a member of the Elks Club, the American Legion and volunteered with the Boy Scouts. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Dorothy Heath, in 2007. He is survived by sons Terry (Jo) Heath and John (Robin) Heath, all of Bellingham; grandchildren Kevin (Kelly) Heath, Angela (Mark) Craig, Rob (Beth) Heath, Karie (Ben) Koltz, Ron Allen, Haylee Heath, and Karlee Heath; sister Marjorie (John) Munroe; 6 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Wed. August 6 from 3-5 p.m.. A Celebration of Life will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Thurs. HEATH, Ruth R. of Bellingham died Thursday, May 6, 1993. She was 96. At her request, no services will be held. burial will be at Bayview Cemetery. Born Dec. 4, 1896, in Deming, she was a lifetime resident of Whatcom County and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. An avid gardener, Mrs. Heath enjoyed raising flowers. HEATHCOTE, Elsie, age 79 of 2912 Lorraine Ellis Court, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 15, (1977). Mrs. Heathcote had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 66 years and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. HEATHER, Fred C., age 76 years, of 1521 Grant St., passed away in a local hospital Tuesday, March 4, (1958) following a lingering illness. Mr. Heather had resided in Bellingham for the past 40 years and was a retired machinist at Darigold and a member of the Machinist Union and Building Service Union, Local No. 108. HEATHER, Lonnie C., age 82, of 1101 Lakeview St., Bellingham, passed away on January 30, 1992 at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born Nov. 15, 1909 to Fred & Amanda Heather in Sterling, Colorado. He moved to Whatcom County with his parents when he was 7 years old, and later graduated from Ferndale High School in 1927; was very active in organizing his class reunions. He was inducted into the U.S. Air Force on March 6, 1942 from Fort Lewis, WA. While serving as a Staff Sgt. he married Mary S. Starling in Pearson, Georgia on Nov. 9, 1944. He retired as a business agent for the local meat cutters union in Bellingham. During the depression years he was the head usher at the Mt. Baker Theater and became acquainted with Clark Gable and Loretta Young when they were making the film "Call of the Wild." He was also very instrumental in getting the Civic Field in Bellingham built. He was a former member of the Bellingham Elks Lodge No. 194 and the National Riflemans Assoc. His hobbies were reading, avid sportsman, boat builder, made gun stocks, knives & loved nature and the outdoors. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary at the family home; daughters, Georgia Fry, Spokane, WA, Debra Heather & husband Mark Prather, Lummi Island; 1 brother, Richard & wife Laura Heather of Bellingham; 2 sisters, Louise Nicholson, Edmonds, WA, Georgia Norvall, San Mateo, CA; a nephew & nieces residing in Edmonds, WA; 4 grandchildren, Heather & Troy Fry, Spokane, WA, Denver Lunstroth, Lummi Island, WA, Emmy Prather, Lummi Island, WA. HEATHERS, Curtis, age 70 years of Everett passed away at his home Saturday, Sept. 21, (1957). He was a former Whatcom County resident coming to Clearbrook in 1889. He is survived by his wife Etta, two sons, Arthur of Seattle and Glen of New York City, one daughter, Mrs. Cora Rogers of El Paso, Texas, 11 grandchildren and 1 brother Harry of Forks. E. 89th., Renton; passed away in that city August 3, (1961) where he had lived for 4 years; previous to that he had been a lifetime resident of Whatcom County. He was a boiler fireman, and a member of the Baptist Church. Surviving are the widow, Rose; one daughter, Mrs. Frances R. HEATHERS, Etta M., 88, a former Whatcom County resident, died Saturday (June 19, 1982) in an Everett nursing home. She was born Nov. 22, 1893, in Oregon. She had been an Everett resident for 22 years. She is survived by two stepsons, a stepdaughter and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband, Curtis, died in 1957. HEATHERS, Hattie Beulah, age 101, of Bellingham, WA, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2001. She was born February 17, 1900 to William and Grace Garner in Nebraska. In 1918, she married Virgil Roy Heathers in Bellingham, WA. Home and family were extremely important to Beulah. She was a dedicated homemaker her entire life. Beulah was predeceased by her husband, Virgil Roy her sons Ward and Norman Heathers her grandson Michael Heathers and her parents. She is survived by her daughter Pauline Carpenter of Santa Rosa, CA 13 grand-children 25 great-grand-children and 7 great-great grandchildren.

HEATHERS, Norman Roy - A memorial service for Norman Roy Heathers of Bellingham will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Greenacres Funeral Home with Pastor Kent Anderson officiating. A private family graveside service will be held at Greenacres Memorial Park. Mr. Heathers died at home Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000. He was 81. Born Aug. 5, 1919, in Bellingham to Roy and Beulah (Garner) Heathers, he lived in Whatcom County all his life. Mr. Heathers served in the U.S. Army during World War II throughout the Pacific Theater. He married Helen Reinholt on Sept. 28, 1946, in Bellingham. Mr. Heathers was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, 7th Infantry Division Association and Bellingham Elks Club. He loved fishing, camping and spending time with his family, especially at the family cabin on Lake Samish. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Heathers, in 1952, and by his brother, Ward Heathers, in 1982. Survivors include his wife, of the family home sons Steven Heathers of Burlington and Jeffrey Heathers of Ferndale daughter Anne Lueken of Tacoma his mother, of Bellingham sister Pauline Carpenter of Santa Rosa, Calif., eight grandchildren one great-grandchild and numerous other family members.

HEATHERS, Roy, age 73, of 2111 I St., passed away suddenly at his home Wednesday, November 23rd, (1966). Mr. Heathers was born in Republican City, Nebraska, and came to Whatcom County as a small boy and lived in the Clearbrook-Nooksack area until moving to Bellingham in 1916. Mr. Heathers was a Bible Student and was retired from his commercial spraying service. Survivors include his wife, Beulah; two sons, Norman and Ward, both of Bellingham; one daughter, Mrs. Pauline Cummings, Windsor, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Rena Rasmussen of Custer; Mrs. Fern McDaniel of Seattle and Mrs. May Sills of Bellingham; thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. HEATHERS, William F. - A funeral for William F. "Bill" Heathers, a former Burlington resident, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hulbush Funeral Home in Burlington with the Rev. Richard Grinstad officiating. Burial will be 1 p.m. Friday in Greenacres Memorial Park near Ferndale. Mr. Heathers died Monday, March 21, 1994, at his Seattle home. He was 62. Born Sept. 18, 1931 to Home and Hollis Darnell Heathers in Burlington, he graduated from Burlington-Edison High School in 1949. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1950, service in the Korean War and received a Purple Heart. In 1965, Mr. Heathers joined American President Lines as a merchant mariner. He retired in 1985. He was a member of Marine Firemen's Union Local 126 in Seattle and of Disabled American Veterans. Survivors include son David Heathers of Mount Vernon; sister Bettye Veroske of Kent; brother Bob Heathers of Mount Vernon; three grandchildren; and special nieces Debra Medema of Port Orchard, Pam Stentz of Kent, Cheryl Wilson of Bellingham and Heidi Heathers of Burlington.

He was a member of the International Bible Students and of the Golden Wedding Club. Heaton, at home; three sons, Harry, of Bremerton; Ogle, city, and Robert, of Los Angeles; a daughter, Edith May Ecker, city; a brother, Robert, of Parsons, Kansas; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. HEATON, Jesse Albert, age 84 2419 J Street, passed away at home Thursday, Jan. 20, (1966). A seventy year resident of this City, Mr. Heaton was a retired logger. He was a member of the Church of God. Survivors are his widow Anne, at home; three sons, Daniel of this City; Lyle of Bellevue, and Henry in Oregon; a daughter, Mrs. Edith Black, City; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Verna Rusco of Long Beach, Calif., and nieces and nephews. HEAVILIN, Milton Lewis "Milt" age 100, passed away on October 10, 2002. He was born on December 14, 1901 in Kirksville, MO to George and Eva (Holland) Heavilin. Milt was a resident of Whatcom County since 1934, and was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church. He had also worked as manager at a meat market for many years, and was a member of the meat cutters union for over 30 years. He was preceded in death by three brothers; and his wife Mary in August 1996. Milt is survived by his daughter Shirley Walden; grandchildren Cindy Partington, Robert Hegnauer, and Dan Hegnauer; great-granddaughter Jordon; brothers Wesley Heavilin and Oral Heavilin; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 14, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church. Reverend R. L. Christianson will officiate. HEAY, Alex, age 75, of 1314 Donovan, passed away at his home Sunday, August 29, (1948) following a brief illness. He is survived by his widow, Viola; four daughters, Mrs. Vera Youngedyk, of Bellingham, Mrs. June Lundstroth, Mrs. Mary Lamb and Mrs. Helen White, all of Ferndale; also five sons, Alfred, of Olympia, Wilfred and Phillip, of Little Rock, Washington, Richard and Lloyd, of Bellingham; a brother Frank, of Gamber Island, B.C. Also 21 grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at Monroe's Chapel of Ferndale, September 2, at 2:30 p.m. (standard time). Rev. O. W. Wheeler will officiate. HEAY, Phillip Earl "Skeeter" 54, of 5701 1/2 3rd Ave., Ferndale, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 1994, at St. Francis Extended Care Center in Bellingham after a long illness. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5800 Northwest Road, Ferndale, with David Reid officiating. Ashes will be place in Bayview Cemetery. Born Dec. 26, 1939, to Phillip C. and Mable Pearson Heay in Bellingham, he went to elementary school in Littlerock and graduated from Rochester High School in 1960. After school he worked for the Department of Natural Resources. He returned to Whatcom County in 1981. Mr. Heay enjoyed gardening and wood crafts. Survivors include his mother, Mable Carnes of Ferndale; daughters Lydia Jane Heay of Ferndale, kIm Morris of Tumwater and Milinda Heay of Oregon; son Jory Heay of Olympia; brother Ron Heay of Blaine; three grandchildren; five nephews; and one niece. HEAY, Richard H., age 48, of 3133 Laurelwood Avenue, passed away at a local hospital Sunday, April 7, (1963). He was a lifetime resident of Bellingham, where he was employed by the City Street Department. Survivors are the widow, Margaret, at home; one son, Richard A. Heay, U.S.N., Rhode Island; one daughter, Mrs. Barbara Goodmanson, Imperial Beach, Calif.; two grandsons; mother, Mrs. Viola Heay, Olympia; three sisters, Mrs. Vera Youngedyk, Thorpe, Wash.; Mrs. June Lundstroth, city; Mrs. Mary Lamb, Ferndale; four brothers, Wilfred and Phillip of Little Rock, Wash.; Alfred, Thorpe, Wash.; Lloyd, city, and numerous nieces and nephews. HEAY, Viola, age 87, of 1281 Paradise Rd., Ferndale passed away Sat. May 20, 1978. She had been a resident of Whatcom Co. for 50 years & is survived by 2 sons; Alfred of Pt. Townsend & Lloyd of B'ham. 2 daughters; June Lunstroth of B'ham. & Mary Lamb of Ferndale. 26 grandchildren & 45 great grandchildren. 7 great great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Tues. HEBAL, John James, 61, a former political science professor at Western Washington University, died of a heart attack Aug. 30 at his home in Santa Maria, Calif. No funeral services are scheduled. Mr. Hebal retired from Western as an associate professor in the political science department in June, then moved to California. He was born March 9, 1925 in Oak Park, Ill., and had been a resident of Bellingham since 1962. Mr. Hebal was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, the University of Alabama, the University of California at Los Angeles and the University of Minnesota. He was known for his personal involvement in the political system, as well as his dedication to the education of his students. He taught at the University of Alabama, UCLA, Washington State University, the University of Maryland at College Park, University College at the University of Maryland, and the University of Minnesota before coming to Western in 1962, where he taught until his retirement. Mr. Hebal also served with the Research Council for Economic Security in Chicago, the Bureau of Public Administration at the University of Alabama, the Colorado Municipal League, the League of Minnesota Municipalities, the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Department of Interior. He was a member of the American Political Science Association and the Institute of Public Administration of Canada. Survivors include his mother, Mary Agnes Hebal of Boulder, Colo.; one sister, Lenore Marie Diamond of Boulder; one nephew; and two nieces.

HEBERDEN, Charles Reginald, age 79, of 2304 B st., passed away in Seattle, Wednesday, April 20, (1960). Mr. Heberden had been a resident of this community for the past 67 years, was a veteran of World War I, was a member of World War I Barracks; Bellingham Bay Lodge No. 44, F. & A. M.; York Rite Bodies; Hesperus Commandery No. 8, Knights Templar; Nile Temple, Shrine, and was a retired locomotive engineer for CMSTP & PRR and BB & BC RR. Surviving relatives include the widow, Helen at the family home; a son, Rex in Pullman, and two nieces, Miss Elvina McGill of Bellingham and Mrs. Elvina Sutherland of Huntington Beach, Calif. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Rev. Father W. Robert Webb and officers of Bellingham Bay Lodge No. 44, Monday, April 25, at 1 p.m. Final resting place, Sumas Cemetery.

HEBERT, Cecile M., age 55 years, of 1302 Bonanza Way, Bellingham, passed away in a local hospital Sunday, Sept. 21, (1952). Mrs. Hebert had been a resident of the county for 41 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Olympia, also of Chapter No. 36, O.E.S. Mrs. Hebert is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Wanda Fuller, of Kodiak, Alaska; her mother, Mrs. Edna Pond of Rt. 2, Ferndale; one sister, Mrs. Maud Dixon, of Cleveland, Ohio; three brothers, Earl Pond, Seattle, Neil Pond, Spokane, Wayne of Bellingham; five grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at the Monroe Funeral Chapel Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. W. Carl Calhoun officiating. Cremation.

HEBERT, Leo Edwin - Lifelong Bellingham resident L. "Ed" Hebert, 65, of 4404 Oregon St., passed away December 23, (1987) in Bellingham. He was born May 5, 1922, in Bellingham, and worked for Pacific Northwest Bell from 1946 to 1984. During World War II he was a lieutenant pilot for the U.S. Navy, flying a B-24 in the South Pacific. His squadron was the first bombing patrol to twice receive the Presidential Unit Citation. Mr. Hebert enjoyed meeting people, as well as hunting, fishing and traveling. He was active in many community groups, serving a past commander of the William Matthews Post No. 1585 Veterans of Foreign Wars; past president of Telephone Pioneers Council, and wagon master for the Telephone Company campout at Leavenworth; past president of the Sportsmans' Club; and past president of the Communication Workers of America. He is survived by his wife, Lucille, of the family home; a daughter, Marcia Pepperworth of Bellingham; one son, Harry Hebert of Port Angeles; four grandchildren; his mother, Gertrude Dierdorff of Bellingham; a sister, Frances Richards of Everett; a brother Frank Hebert of Ferndale; and two nieces and two nephews. Services were held Dec. 29 in the Jones Funera Home with officers of the William Matthews VFW Post officiating.

HEBERT, Leo P., age 55, of 3851 E. Frasier Street, passed away in Bellingham, Wednesday, April 29, (1953). Mr. Hebert had resided in this community for the past 46 years, and was a caulker for the Bellingham Shipyards. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local No. 2071. Surviving relatives include two sons, Edward, of Bellingham, and Frank M., in Ketchikan, Alaska; one daughter, Mrs. Francis Richards, of Marysville, Wash.; four grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs, Hazel Flynn, of Lynden, Mrs. Agnes Barker, in Oregon, and Mrs. Pearl Groppe, of Skykomish, Wash., and three brothers, Robert and George, both of Oregon, and Dallas, in Montana. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. W. Carl Calhoun, Monday, May 4, at 1 p.m. Final resting place, Bay View.

HEBERT, Paul, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hebert of 3851 Frasier St., passed away at birth Friday, August 13, (1954). Surviving relatives besides the parents include a brother, Harry Edwin at home; a sister, Marcia Rae at home; two grandmothers Mrs. Gertrude Wolfe of Ferndale, and Mrs. Tennsie B. HEBERT, Robert Joseph, age 72 of Los Angeles, passed away in that city Wednesday, June 28, (1961) following an extended illness. Mr. Hebert had resided in Los Angeles for the past 5 years and had formerly resided in Bellingham. He was a retired shingle weaver and leaves to survive 3 daughters, Mrs. Delores Gilbert of this city, Mrs. Norma Snowdon of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Lois Cozza of Seattle, 7 grandchildren, 3 sisters, Mrs. Hazel Flynn of Lynden, Mrs. Agnes Barker of this city and Mrs. Pearl Groppe of Skykomish; 1 brother, Dallas Hebert of Montana; several nieces and nephews. Rosary will be said Sunday, July 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home. Requiem Mass will be offered Monday, July 3, at 9:30 a.m. in the Church of the Assumption. HEBERT, Robert O., age 24, of Everett, passed away suddenly in the city early Friday, November 4, (1949). Mr. Hebert was a former Bellingham resident and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Catholic Church. Surviving relatives include his wife, Shirley Hebert, and two children, Garry and Connie, all of Everett; his mother, Mrs. John Frahm, of Tucson, Ari.; father, Robert Hebert, of Toledo, Ore.; three sisters, Mrs. Delores Gilbert, of Bellingham, and Norma and Lois Hebert, both of Anacortes; many other relatives. Rosary will be said Monday, November 7, at 7:30 p.m., within the Church of the assumption. Requiem high mass will be sung Tuesday, November 8, at 8:15 a.m., with the Rev. Fr. Bernard Cremer, celebrant. Interment in Bay View Cemetery under the direction of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home.

HEBERT, Terrie Ann, age 3 1/2 months, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard F. Hebert III, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Nov. 7, (1962) at 1303 Portal Drive. Besides her parents she leaves to survive her sister, Tina Marie, also her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard F. Hebert Jr. of Louisiana; her grandmother, Althea Nelson of Bellingham; her grandfather, Charles Ogden of Oregon; also numerous other relatives. Graveside services were conducted on Thursday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m. in Greenacres Memorial Park, under the direction of Bingham & Jerns Funeral Home.

HEBNER, Evelyn E. died July 16, 2006 in Bellingham, WA, at the age of 89. She was born in 1916 to Ernest and Laura Yates in Coyote, CA. She lived most of her life in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Sacramento Valley. Evelyn moved to Bellingham 14 years ago to enjoy its beauty, ambience, and healthy life style. She was never sick in Bellingham. She will be remembered as an accomplished wife, mother, pacifist, humanitarian, Cook, Gardener, Naturalist, and friend to all who knew her. She was a caregiver and had a charitable heart. Evelyn married Col. Roger H. Hebner (USAF Ret.) in 1967, and they spent nearly thirty-seven years together before his death in 2003. They traveled extensively outside the US and enjoyed visiting family and friends all across North America. Evelyn worked for many years as a secretary and court stenographer. After her retirement she went back to school to develop her skills as an artist. She received a BA in studio art from Sacramento State University. Evelyn is survived by her sons Lawrence K. Nordell and wife Sarah (Bellingham, WA), John P. Locke and wife Halie (Portland, OR) Michael P. Locke and wife Joan (Camarillo, CA) and Clifford W. Locke (Hendersonville, NC), step-daughter Mary Ann Clark and husband Robert (Redding, CA), step-sons Lee Hebner (Redding, CA), Anthony Hebner and wife Pamela (Santa Rosa, CA), and Roger M. Hebner, niece Lorene Johnston and husband Ray (Lawrenceville, GA), as well as twenty grandchildren and a growing group of great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Francis for their wonderful care of Evelyn. Arrangements are pending.

HECHT, Howard Amos, age 90, of Point Roberts passed away in Blaine Dec. 24, 1989. He is survived by a son Theodore Hecht and a daughter Verla Croan both of Seattle. Funeral service will be at Greens Funeral Home, Seattle, WA. Local arrangements by Jerns McKinney Funeral Chapel.

HECHT, Morris Ralph, Dr. - Services for prominent Bellingham physician Dr. Morris Ralph Hecht were scheduled for 1 p.m. today at Westford Funeral Home. Graveside services were to follow at Beth Israel Cemetery at Bayview Cemetery. Dr. Hecht of 634 Fieldston Road died at his home Monday after an extended illness. He was 77. In addition to practicing general medicine in Bellingham more than 35 years, Dr. Hecht was active in community and religious activities. He was born July 19, 1911, in Chicago to Russian-Ukranian immigrant parents, Sam Hecht and Sarah Glickman Hecht. He graduated from Northwestern University and from Chicago Medical School before serving his internship at St. Joseph Hospital in 1936. While an intern, he met his future wife, Louise Bulow. They married Dec. 11, 1937. The same year, he served as doctor for the company that produced two films, "The Barrier" and "The Call of the Wild" in the Mount Baker area. Dr. Hecht volunteered for service during World War II and was assigned to a public health department in Chicago, where he was in charge of communicable diseases programs. He returned to Bellingham to practice medicine in 1945. Dr. Hecht was a past member of Bellingham Lions Club, American Medical Association, Washington State Medical Association the Whatcom County Medical Society. He also was past chief of staff at St. Joseph Hospital. He was an active member of Beth Israel Synagogue, serving on its board of directors. Dr. Hecht was a avid sportsman, fisherman and gardener, and was a member of Bellingham Yacht Club. He once tried out for firstbaseman with the Chicago Cubs. Survivors include his wife, of the family home; a son, Dr. Emil Hecht of Bellingham; a daughter, Blythe Cole of Bellingham; a sister, Ann Dechter of Bellingham; and four grandchildren (Megan & Sarah Cole, Mia and Avram Hecht). Arrangements are by Westford Funeral Home.

HECHT, Samuel, age 80 years, who resided at 2306 Walnut Street, passed away in a local hospital, Monday, Nov. 14, (1960) following an extended illness. Mr. Hecht was a member of the congregation of Beth Israel. He came to this country in 1899, was married to Sarah Klikman in Knox, Ind., in 1910, and had resided in Bellingham since 1945. He was a retired businessman. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sarah Hecht; one son, Dr. Morris R. Hecht; one daughter, Mrs. Ann Dechter, all of Bellingham; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Benjamin of Chicago, and Mrs. Ann Rovin of Los Angeles; also three grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Fred S. Gartner in the Chapel of the Bingham & Jerns Funeral Home, Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 3 p.m., followed by interment in Beth Israel Cemetery.

HECKBERT, Charles W., age 69, of 3517 Birch Bay Lynden Rd., Custer, passed away Mon., Sept. 23rd at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born Feb. 15th, 1916 in Canada & was a retired merchant seaman, living in the Blaine/Custer are for the last 5 yrs. He is survived by his wife Anne of Custer; 2 sons, Charles MacDonald & his wife Beverly of Alberta, Canada, & Jerry Zengerle of MS; a daughter, Margie Blaney of B.C.; & his mother, Mae MacDonald of Canada; 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren. HECOCK, Clarence, 82, of 3103 Commercial St., Anacortes, passed away in that city Thursday, June 6, (1957). Mr. Hecock had resided in Bellingham for 15 years, prior to his moving to Anacortes one year ago, and was a member of the Methodist Church. Surviving relatives include four sons, Ralph of Wisconsin Dells, Wis., Roland of Conrad, Mont., Forrest and Leslie, both of Bellingham; four daughters, Mrs. Odessa Corning of Anacortes, Mrs. Irene Utter of Prairie du Sac, Wis., Mrs. Gertrude Mahn and Mrs. Clarice Woodring, both of Des Plaines, Ill.; one brother, Dorcey of Kellogg, Ida.; one sister, Mrs. Tressie Bauer of Devils Lake, N.D. The remains rest at the Jones' Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home where services will be conducted Monday, June 10, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Alfred S. Palmer officiating. Final resting place Greenacres.

HECOCK, Eugene Robert - May 11, 1939 - July 1, 2006 -- Eugene Robert Hecock passed away at his home in Folsom, California after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was a retired gas department light crew foreman for Pacific Gas and Electric Company where he worked for more than 33 years. He was a member of the I.B.E.W. union local 1245. Eugene was born in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, the third son of Leslie G. and Wanda R. Hecock. The family moved to Bellingham in 1946 and Eugene attended school here until graduation from Meridian High School in 1957. He then joined the Navy for three years and following his discharge, moved to California. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gale R. Hecock. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Rita, of Folsom, California and 6 children: Cynthia, Gina and Leslie Hecock all of the Bellingham area, Rebecca Richhart of Fresno, California; Charles Holt of Herald, California and Robert Holt of Folsom and their families. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and two brothers, Donald of Cosmopolis, Washington and Edward of Antioch, California and their families. Eugene will always be remembered for his intelligence, his quiet manner and pleasant demeanor. Even in his final stages of life, although in pain, he never complained, tried to smile and be happy and enjoyed visits from family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial service will be held on Thursday July 20th at 1 p.m. at the St. John's Lutheran Church at 1701 L Street in downtown Sacramento, California. Burial will be at sea at his request.

HECOCK, Forrest Elwin, age 87, of Bellingham, WA died on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002 at Alderwood Park Convalescent Center. Born October 26, 1914 in Stillwater, ND, son of Clarence and Myrtle Hecock, he was the last survivor of ten siblings. When very young, the family moved to Wisconsin Dells, WI, where Forrest was raised. He joined the Navy and eventually married Norma Wolfe, and they raised seven children. After his discharge from the Navy, Forrest worked at several jobs in and around Bellingham, including 17 years for the Bellingham Street Department. He moved to California in 1969 where he worked in maintenance at the White Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles and Kings View Hospital in Reedley, CA. While in Los Angeles, he met and married Lillian Bavery. After retiring, they returned to live in Whatcom County in 1979. Forrest enjoyed gardening and music and sang in choirs and quartets throughout his life. He also liked to laugh and tease. He was a member of the Ferndale Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He is survived by his wife, Lillian; three sons and four daughters, Gary and wife Judy of Dayton, WA; Mark and wife Kim of West Linn, OR, Allen of Bellingham, WA, Wilda and husband Dean Rouse of Custer, WA; Kay Smith of Custer, WA; Karen and husband Bruce Cowin of Lynden, WA, and Paula and husband Ray Gulliford of Gates, OR; step-son, Vern Bavery; step-daughter, Dr. Lorraine Rose; plus numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at(sic) Friday, February 8th at 1:00 p.m. at the Ferndale Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Pastor Rick Moyer officiating. HECOCK, Leslie G., age 79, of 1200 Lincoln St., passed away Thurs., Dec. 1, (1977). A resident of this community for the past 31 years, Mr. Hecock was a retired St. Luke's Hospital maintenance dept. employee and a member of Church of Christ of Ferndale. Surviving wife Wanda; 4 sons, Donald L. of Auburn, Edward of Antioch, CA, Eugene of Sacramento and Gale of Bellingham; 2 brothers, Roland of Great Falls, Montana and Forrest of Reedley, CA; 3 sisters, Mrs. Clarice Speerschneider of Sarasota, Florida, Mrs. Gertrude Mahn of Oxford, Wisc., and Mrs. Irene Hutter of Sauk City, Wisconsin and 13 grandchildren. HECOCK, Myrtle, age 71 years, passed away at the family home, 1428 Humboldt, Tuesday, September 18, (1945) following an illness of six weeks. Mrs. Hecock had been a resident of this city for the past two years and was a member of the Gladstone Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Clarence Hecock and four sons, Forrest of Bellingham, Roland in North Dakota, Leslie and Ralph in Wisconsin; four daughters, Mrs. Irene Hunter, Wisconsin, Mrs. Gertrude Giesler and Mrs. Clarice Woodring in Illinois, Mrs. Odessa Drew, Bellingham, and many grandchildren. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth, and services will be conducted at the Gladstone Methodist Church Friday, September 21, by Rev. Roy S. McCullough at 2 p.m. Final resting place, Greenacres Memorial Park.

HECOCK, Wanda R., of Bellingham, WA, joined her husband Leslie G. Hecock and her son Gale in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ on March 10, 2005. She was 89, born on June 3, 1915 in Briggsville, WI, to Robert and Ruth (Van Schoyck) Kimball. Wanda and her husband moved to Bellingham to raise their four boys, Edward, Donald, Eugene, and Gale. She was an active member of the Portal Way Church of Christ and had retired from St. Lukes Hospital. Wanda enjoyed cooking and reading. Wanda took pride in all she did and enjoyed the company of her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Howard, Merle, and Art Kimball. Wanda is survived by sons, Edward, Donald, and Eugene Hecock; 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; brothers, Bob and Dale Kimball; and sister Elaine Shaw. HEDBERG, Alfred, age 70 years, passed away at his home Friday, September 10, (1948). He was a member of the Eagles lodge and resided in Whatcom County for the past 41 years. He leaves his wife, Thora; one son, Alvin R., of Everson route 1; one brother, Arvie, and three sisters in Sweden, and three grandchildren, Garry, Delano and Wanda Mae. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 14, at 2 p.m., from the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden with the Rev. Haugen, of Bellingham, officiating, followed by cremation.

HEDBERG, Alvin R., age 60 of 7062 Guide Meridian, Lynden, passed away Sat., May 20, 1978. Mr. Hedberg was a life time resident of this community, member of Bellingham Elks Lodge No. 194, Bellingham Bay Lodge No. 44 F & AM, Bellingham Aerie No. 31 FOE. He is survived by his wife Veronica, 3 sons, Gary, city; Delano, Lynden; Duane, U.S. Navy; 1 daughter Mrs. Wanda Catherman, Rochester, NY; 10 grandchildren. HEDBERG, Fred, age 85 years, of 2315 Williams Street, passed away in a local hospital Friday, April 21, (1950). Mr. Hedberg had resided in this community for the past 25 years and was a member of the Champion Street Baptist Church. Surviving relatives are one cousin, Fred Wickstrom, of Seattle; two nieces, Mrs. Bill Hurlock, of San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. C. A. Leaf, of Bellingham; two nephews, Cecil Hedberg, of Kansas City, Mo., and Helge Johanson, of this city. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. Anton E. Sjolund and the Rev. J. A. H. Rosendahl Monday, April 24 at 1:00 p.m. Final resting place, Bay View.

HEDBERG, Gertrude Hess Zwaschka October 20, 1910, Cleveland, Ohio; August 18, 1991, Portland, Oregon. Funeral Services were held Thursday, August 22, 1991 - 1:00 p.m. She leaves behind two sons, Jim Zwaschka of Salem, Oregon, and Kenith (sic) Zwaschka of Portland, Oregon; six sisters, Esther LaFave of Ferndale, Rachel Hannah of Everson, Ruth Harris of Corning, CA, Alice Ligocki of Bellingham, Florence Haner of Wickersham, Ena Jane Halland of Lummi Shore Rd., and one brother Jack Hess of Everson.

HEDBERG, Gretchen, of Bellingham, WA, passed away July 12, 2002 at her residence. She was 107. Gretchen was born January 14, 1895 in Aurora, IL to Adam and Mary (Peetz) Schoeberlein. She obtained her schooling in Aurora, IL and Daytona Beach, FL. Gretchen was a life member of Eastern Star Sehome Chapter and First Methodist Church. She was a member of Bellingham Senior Center and Button Club of Seattle. She enjoyed stamp collecting, sewing, cooking, reading and traveling. It was Gretchen who named "Blossom Time" which is now Ski to Sea. She liked to share her memories of knowing John D. Rockefeller, Sr., sitting on the church piano bench with Irving Berlin in Aurora, IL, of her grandmother who was a cook and nurse, was a good friend of Abraham Lincoln, and how her father, Adam, was the fire chief of Aurora for many years. Gretchen was known for her youthfulness. She loved the Lord and her family very much. "Gogo" will be deeply missed by all. Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Day Hedberg; a sister, Ella Leins and a brother, Earl Schoeberlein. Survived by her daughter, Marjorie and husband William Masters of Bellingham; granddaughters, Mary and husband Dean Romond and Heidi Unick all of Ferndale; great-granddaughters, Amy and Carrie Unick of Ferndale; great-grandsons, Nathan and Sean Romond of Ferndale. Memorial services will be held at Westford Funeral Home Chapel, 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2002.

HEDBERG, Karin A., formerly of Bellingham, died Sunday, March 17, 1996. She was 88. There will be no local service. Burial will be in Greenacres Memorial Park. Mrs. Hedberg lived in Rochester, Mich., since 1969 and was a member of the Older Persons Commission. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Hedberg. Survivors include son Nils Hedberg of Shelby Township, Mich., sister Birgit Jacobson of Renton and granddaughter Jennifer Hedberg of Sterling Heights, Mich.

HEDBERG, Nils Frank age 81, passed away July 9, (1980). He was formerly of Bellingham, presently of Rochester, Michigan. He is survived by his wife Karin; a son, Nils R. Hedberg; 1 granddaughter, Jennifer. He was a long time employee of Georgia Pacific Co. Funeral services will be held Fri. July 11 at 2 p.m. at the Pixley Memorial Chapel, Rochester. Interment in the Greenacres Cemetery, Bellingham.

HEDBERG, Veronica E., age 73, 7062 Guide Meridian Rd., died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 1989, in Bellingham. She was born Veronica Boice on Sept. 13, 1916, in Lynden. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today, Jan. 3, at Greenacres Memorial Park. Memorial services will also be today in the chapel of Westford Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Minkler officiating. She was a past member of the Emblem Club at the Bellingham Elks Club, and enjoyed bingo and dancing. Her husband, Alvin Hedberg, preceded her in death. She is survived by her mother, Martha Boice of Bellingham; three sons, Gary R. Hedberg of Bellingham, Del Hedberg of Lynden and Duane Hedberg of Connecticut; one daughter, Wanda Bates of Rochester, N.Y.; a sister, Ila Jackson of Bellingham; a brother, Ed Boice of Custer; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives. Arrangements were by Westford Funeral Home.

HEDDEN, Elvera Odegard, age 62 of Red Bluff, CA, died Friday morning (Sept. 1977) in a Redding hospital, where she had been admitted 2 days previously. A former resident of Bellingham, she had lived in Red Bluff for 21 years. Mrs. Hedden is survived by 3 sons, Jim, Lawrence and Leonard of California; a daughter, Margie Eaton of Redding; a sister, Margie Murray of Bellingham; 2 brothers, Stubby Odegard of Auburn and Palmer Odegard of San Carlos, and nine grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday in Redding.

HEDDEN, James M., age 53, of 3533 Haynie Road, Blaine, passed away April 30, (1976). Funeral services were held Monday in Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Johnson officiating. A retired police officer and chef, Mr. Hedden had been a life time resident of Whatcom County with the exception of 18 years in Alaska. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Ferndale, American Legion Post 86 of Blaine, the Haynie Grange, the Nennanna Masonic Lodge of Alaska, The Prudoe Bay Masonic Club, the Alaska Press Club. He is survived by his wife, Donnie; three sons, Michael, Jeffrey and Raymond Chenvert, all of Blaine; two daughters, Lisa Chenvert and Janice Hedden, both of Blaine; a brother, Robert Whiteside of Seattle. Burial was in Haynie Cemetery under the direction of Veroske's Funeral Home.

HEDGES, May of Blaine, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2002, in Lynden, at the Christian Health Care Center. She was 94. Born March 6, 1907, in Winnipeg, Manitoba to William Mawhinney and Annie Taylor. She attended the Brethren Church. She served and loved the Lord all of her life, joyfully ministering to everyone. During her life she was a homemaker, owned a bakery, co-owned a janitorial service and a farm with her husband, Albert Hedges. May is survived by her only child Gordon Russell & wife Sonja; granddaughter, Sharon & husband Ted Paulick; 3 grandsons, Pat Russell, Mike Russell & wife Cherie, and Sean Russell; 4 great-grandchildren, Teddy & Lisa Paulick, and Joshua & Michele Russell; brother Victor (Vic) Mawhinney and many nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be Wednesday, January 30, 11:00 a.m., at Enterprise Cemetery, 7041 Vista Dr., Ferndale.

HEDLEY, Robert W., age 79, 1800 Broadway, passed away in a local nursing home Tuesday, July 5, (1965). Mr. Hedley came to Roslyn as a young man, from England, where he was employed by the Northern Pacific Coal Mine as an accountant, and in 1918 came to the Bellingham Coal Mines, where he was chief accountant until his retirement upon the closure of the mine. He leaves to survive numerous nephews and nieces, including Mrs. Brenda B. Short, and Mrs. Noreen Dobson Nixon, both of Ashington, Northumberland, England. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Rev. Arthur E. Bezanson Thursday, July 8th at 10 a.m. Cremation will follow.

HEDLUND, Lester LeRoy – A final farewell and private celebration of life for Lester LeRoy Hedlund of Bellingham will be held during the Hedlund family reunion picnic later this month. His remains will be scattered at a later date. Mr. Hedlund died of congestive heart failure on Friday, June 16, 2000 at his home. He was 83. Born April 15, 1917 to Charles and Marie Hedlund at their home in Mount Vernon, he was raised in Skagit County where he attended Harmony Grade School in West Mount Vernon. He graduated from Union High School in 1935. On Aug 31, 1940 he married Dorothy Mae Wager and they moved to Seattle. Mr. Hedlund worked as a smelter for Bethlehem Steel during World War II, before relocating to Mount Vernon with his family and entering the painting trade. On Aug 16, 1949, he married Helene Whitaker and they moved to Bellingham. A truth seeker all his life, he became a student and teacher of science, religion, history and archaeology. His second wife, Helene, died previously. Survivors include daughter Judith Ann Rolston of Anacortes; son Raymond Charles Thomas of Marysville; sisters Mildred Ytterdal of Seattle, Helen Chatlien of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Carol Bell of Concord, Calif.; brothers Maurice Hedlund of Snohomish, Virgil and Stanley Hedlund, both of Everett, and Richard Hedlund of Stockton, Calif.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements are by Kern Funeral Home of Mount Vernon.

HEDLUND, Ragnar, age 65 years of Ferndale, Wash., passed away at a local hospital, Tuesday evening, February 19, (1946). Mr. Hedlund had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past forty-two years. He leaves no relatives in this country. Funeral services will be conducted from the Rose Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home, Friday, February 22, at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Thomas Allport of St. Mark's Lutheran Church officiating. Cremation will follow.

HEDMAN, Carl Jennings - Custer resident Carl Jennings Hedman died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1993, at his home. He was 74. Private family services will be held. He was born Nov. 28, 1918, in Bartlesville, Okla., to Carl John and Nellie T. Hedman. Mr. Hedman was a resident of Whatcom County since 1968. Survivors include his wife, Stella, of the family home; sons Mickey J. Hedman of Talala, Okla., Carl J. Hedman Jr. of Ft. Richardson, Ark., Ernest J. Hedman of Union City, Calif., and Oscar Jerry Hedman of Bartlesville; daughters Nina J. Morgan of Broken Arrow, Okla., L. June Johnson of Dewey, Okla., and Linda J. James of Ste. Genevieve, Mo.; mother Nellie Johnston of Oklahoma; brothers Arvid Hedman of Oklahoma and Leonard Hedman of Texas; sister Marguerite Garrett of Oklahoma; 20 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. HEDMAN, Pauline Goodman, age 78 of Yuma, Arizona passed away May 8, 1988. A former earlier resident, she was born September 10, 1909 in Anacortes to Sam and Jennie Goodman. The family then moved to the Bellingham area, where Pauline was graduated from Fairhaven High School in 1928. She then entered The Swedish Hospital School of Nursing in Seattle. Graduating in 1933. Shortly afterward she accepted a position as superintendent of nurses in Hawaii on the island of Oahu. When World War II broke out she was immediately called into service by the U.S. Army. Given a commission as 1st Lieutenant she served 4 years spending most of that time at army burn centers in southern California. She was preceded in death by her husband Merrill Hedman in 1977. She is survived by one daughter Gretchen and husband Dave Hossler; and one granddaughter Devon Hossher all of Yuma, Arizona; also, three sisters, Alice Donohue of Renton, Salome Citrak of Olympia, Sarah Beck of Tacoma; brothers, Mark Goodman of Copper Center, Alaska and John Goodman of Everson, Washington. Memorial services will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 1988 in Yuma, Arizona.

HEDMAN, Russell L., 80, of Everson passed away July 28, 1993. He was born June 24, 1913 to Oscar and Ida Hedman in Scranton, N.D. He married Ann Meyer on June 24, 1936. In 1937 they moved to Bellingham and for the last 43 years they resided in Everson. Hedman served in the military in Europe from 1943-46, then was an insurance broker for the next 30 years. He was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church at Lawrence. Survivors include his wife Ann of the family home; two sons, Alan and wife Cheryl of Pasadena, Calif. and Neil and wife Normajean of Puyallup; daughter Karen Williams of Buffalo, N.Y.; six grandchildren; three sisters, and numerous other relatives. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Chris Berry officiating. Burial of ashes preceded the service.

HEDRICK, Neil Wesley, age 91, of 3138 W. Alderwood, Bellingham, passed away Mon., Mar. 24, 1997, at Alderwood Park Convalescent Center. He was born Jan. 13, 1906, in Raymond, WA to Henry and Bertha (Fisch) Hedrick and had been a Whatcom County resident for the past 54 years. He married Anna Bergstrom on July 20, 1939, in Tacoma and served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Engineers Combat Corps. He was a member of the Wm. Matthews Post #1585, V.F.W.; Disabled American Veterans, Chapter #19; and Carpenters & Joiners Local #756 of Bellingham. Mr. Hedrick loved fishing, photography, and reading. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Anna Hedrick of the family home; sisters, Elinor Wells of Seattle and Ruth Belch of Yakima; brother, Donald Hedrick of Davis, CA; and numerous other family members. At Mr. Hedrick's request, there will be no service. Greenacres Funeral Home & Crematorium.
