HAUBNER, Charles, age 75, of 4060 Byron Avenue, passed away in a local hospital Thursday, July 31, (1952). Mr. Haubner had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 37 years and was a retired cook. His only surviving relatives are in Austria. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. Gordon W. Loren, Wednesday, August 6, at 10:30 a.m. Cremation.HAUFLE, August, age 62 years, passed away at a local hospital Tuesday, August 15, (1950). Mr. Haufle came to Bellingham 14 years ago and was a member of the St. John's Lutheran church. His survivors include the widow, Adelma Haufle, and one son, Garland W., both at home; one daughter, Mrs. Earl Gilbery, Olympia, Wash.; four grandchildren; three brothers, Carl, in Minnesota, Walter, South Dakota, John, Iowa; two half-brothers, Will Haufle, in Iowa, Leon Howland, Oregon; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Outcault, Mrs. Lena Wolfe and Mrs. Maggie Johnson, all of South Dakota. HAUFLE, Mary Helen, age 61 of 2401 H St., died Tues., Dec. 11, 1979. A resident of this community since 1942, she was a member of Unity Church of Truth and Good Sam Recreation Club. She is survived by her husband, Garland; 2 sons, Gary Haulfle (sic) and Gail Haulfle, both of Bellingham; 3 daughters, Marlene Frazer of Lynden, Marie Callender of Blaine, and Marcia Haulfe (sic), City; 2 brothers, Ernie Loeser of Southwick, Idaho, and Frank Loeser of Kendrick, Idaho, 2 sisters, Mrs. Bertha Moore of Clarkston, Wash. and Mrs. Jennie Bogar of Deary, Idaho; 5 grandchildren. Services were held Thurs. Dec. 13, 3 p.m. in Jones Funeral Home, with Rev. Howard Armstrong officiating. Interment Sat. Dec. 15, at 10 a.m. in Southwick Cemetery, Southwick, Idaho.
HAUG, Barbara Bowie, of 1300 Bonanza Way died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 1994, in Bellingham. She was 74. A private family memorial service will be Friday in Bellingham. A memorial service will be held in Chautauqua, N.Y., this summer. Born Feb. 25, 1920, to Peter Lyon and Florence Mary Carroll Bowie in Niagra Falls, N.Y., she graduated from Niagara Falls Senior High School in 1939. She was the first lady of Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua from 1960 to 1970, and an archivist for the Smith Memorial Library in Chautauqua. Survivors include son Peter Haug of Bellingham; daughters Hildreth Cash of Hartsgrove, Ohio, Barbara Gray of Leawood, Kan., and Marsha L. Haug of Exton, Pa.; sister Amy Tomes of North Tonawanda, N.Y.; brothers George Bowie of Michigan City, Ind., and Robert Bowie of Los Angeles; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. HAUG, Byron G., 36, of Yuma, Arizona, passed away May 29, 1992 at his home. He was born Nov. 22, 1955 in Bellingham. A mortgage broker, he had worked for QFC Grocery and Century 21. He attended First Christian Church in Yuma, and he enjoyed gardening, fishing, rock hounding & pets. Survivors include his parents Maurice and Joanna Haug; 2 brothers Andy and wife Lauri, and Ken, all of Sedro Woolley; one sister and brother-in-law, Valerie and Scott Quigley of Puyallup; two nieces and two nephews, Michelle & Aaron Quigley of Puyallup; and April and Ryan Haug of Sedro Woolley; one grandmother, Bertha Haug, of Bellingham; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial service will be Saturday, July 11, 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Temple, 2014 C St., Bellingham.
HAUG, Ingeborg Bakke, age 85 of Clipper, WA, passed away June 16, 1994 in Bellingham. Mrs. Haug was born Sept. 3, 1908 in Saxon, WA to Andrew and Bertha (Nesset) Bakke. Mrs. Haug was a lifetime county resident with the exception of when she lived in Yakima from 1976 to 1984. She was a member of the Lutheran Church, was active in the Ladies Aide Society of the Lutheran Church; enjoyed handwork, her family especially her grandson's activities. Survivors are her two daughters, Thelma Bowhay of Yakima and Arley Stout of Wilbur, WA; a sister, Alice Martin of Bellingham; two sisters-in-law, Ruth T. Bakke and Ruth A. Bakke; five grandsons and two great-grandsons. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday June 20, 1994 in the Jerns LeVeck Funeral Chapel followed by burial at the Saxon Cemetery. HAUG, LaVonne L. ("Bonnie") of Bellingham, WA, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2005, in Bellingham. She was 74, born in Bellingham on January 23, 1931, to Edna (Anderson) and Frank Markwood. Bonnie loved her family and friends. She was always there for anyone who needed a smile, a kind word, a hug, or just quiet understanding. She also loved little children, most animals, her yard, and the smell of clothes dried on the line. Bonnie spent her entire life in Washington. One of her favorite places was by the water, and she and Duane often walked at Squalicum Park. When she could no longer walk much, they sat on a bench there, enjoying the salt air, the peace and beauty, and the contentment of good company. She is survived by her husband, of 55 years, Duane; son Curt and daughter-in-law Debi Haug; sister Lorraine Eagan, all of Bellingham; brother Ron Markwood of CO; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 2, 2005, at Greenacres| Moles Cemetery.

HAUG, Theodore, age 80, of 914 Lakeway Drive, passed away in a local hospital, Tuesday, September 21, (1948). Mr. Haug had been a resident of this community for the past forty years and had been custodian of the Lincoln and Lowell schools for many years. Deceased was a member of the First Baptist Church and had served as a deacon. Surviving relatives are one daughter, Miss Pernilla Haug at the family home; two sons, John M., of Portland, Ore., and Ralph E. of Nelscott, Ore.; one grandson, Ralph E. HAUGE, Gudmand, age 74 years, 1445 Moore Street, passed away Wednesday, April 3, (1946) after a brief illness. Mr. Hauge had been a resident of Bellingham for the past twenty-three years and was a member of the Ebenezer Lutheran Free Church. One daughter, Miss Glady (sic), of Seattle, survives. Funeral services were held at the Bingham-Dahlquist Funeral Home, Monday, April 8, at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. John Hjelmeland. Interment in Bay View Cemetery.
HAUGE, Ludwig, age 95 of the Nor Bell Nursing Home, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 1981. Mr. Hauge is survived by 2 daughters in Norway. Burial was held at Greenacres Memorial Park under the direction of Moles Funeral Home.
HAUGEN, Anton - A funeral for Anton Haugen of Sedro-Woolley will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley with the Rev. Gordon Bakke officiating. Burial will follow in Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Mr. Haugen, a former Whatcom County resident, died Thursday, April 7, 1994, at his Sedro-Woolley home. He was 83. Born July 21, 1910, to Aslak and Tonette Haugen in Sirdal, Norway, he grew up and attended school in Norway. In 1930, he moved to Whatcom County, where he operated a dairy farm. He married Anna Harang on Dec. 31, 1938. They lived in Whatcom County until 1969, when they moved to Sedro-Woolley. Mr. Haugen worked in the construction and logging industries in Skagit County. His hobbies were inventing and woodworking. He built more than 125 spinning wheels, plus wooden shoes and cider presses. He also repaired lawn mowers for friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. Survivors include his wife of the family home; daughter Tillie Simpson of Snohomish; brother Gunvald Haugen of Norway; sisters Todne Solhorn, Jenny Haugen and Larsine Sande, all of Norway; and two grandsons (Tony and Jay Simpson).
HAUGEN, Bernice, 88, of Blaine, died Monday, (Aug. 31, 1981). Born April 3, 1893, at Traer, Iowa, she had been a Blaine resident since 1934. She was a member of Ruth Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and of United Church of Christ, Blaine. She is survived by a son, Robert, of Lynden, and two grandsons. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Jerns-McKinney Funeral Home, with the Rev. Don Walter officiating. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park.

Chester had been a resident of the Pleasant Valley and Ferndale communities for the past 35 years and was preceded in death by his father, John Haugen in 1967 and his mother Christina Haugen in 1961. HAUGEN, Henry - Bellingham resident Henry Haugen died Monday, Dec. 7, 1992, at Alderwood Park Convalescent Center. He was 80. At his request, no services will be held. Burial will be in Bayview Cemetery. He was born near Blaine on May 7, 1912, to Oscar and Marie Haugen. A lifelong resident of Whatcom County, he graduated from Blaine High School. He married Margaret Larson on Nov. 20, 1937, in Bellingham. He worked in shipyards during World War II. Mr. Haugen was self-employed as a mechanic and body shop man. He enjoyed boating, fly fishing and helping his neighbors and friends. Survivors include his wife of the family home; daughters Frankie Falk and Joyce Bruton, both of Bellingham; sisters Mabel Pate of Bellingham and Helen Gerson of Huntington Beach, Calif.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. HAUGEN, Hester C., age 54 of Rt. No. 1, Blaine, passed away Saturday, February 11, (1961) in a local hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Haugen had been a resident of Whatcom County her entire lifetime. She was a member of the Lutheran Free Church of White Horn and the American Legion Aux. Unit No. 154, Ferndale. Survivors include her husband, Melvine (sic); one daughter, Mrs. Gloria Balzer, Rt. No. 1, Blaine; one son Melvin M. Mr. Haugen had resided here the past forty years and attended the Free Lutheran Church, and was a member of the Boiler Makers and the Carpenters Union, also the Sons of Norway. Surviving relatives are the widow, Sophie, at home; two sons, Nels at Wrangell, Alaska, and Sigurd, at home; two brothers, Lars, New Bedford, Mass., and Nels in Norway; two sisters, Lisa Ferkinstad and Ingaborg Haugen, in Norway. HAUGEN, Madeline Turner Cartwright, 82, Bellingham, died Friday, August 11, 1995 at the Seaview Adult Family Home. She was born May 24, 1913 at Clearbrook, Whatcom County, to James and Amanda Turner. She graduated from Sumas-Nooksack High School in 1931. Married to Arthur Cartwright in 1937. He died in 1977. She married Robert M. Haugen in 1980. He preceded her in death in 1988. She enjoyed drawing, sketching and sewing. Also, traveling in her motor home, spending winters in Yuma, AZ and summers in Kirkland, WA. During her marriage to A. Cartwright, who was employed by U.S. Immigration, they lived in six different states, including the territory of Alaska, where she worked in Juneau for the school district. Other employment was with banks, government offices, and being a housewife. She was an active member of the Methodist Church in Yuma, American Legion Auxiliary in Pembina, ND and NARF Ch. #1404, Bellevue. Survivors include: daughter Lyn Heller, granddaughter Denise, grandson Darryn and great-granddaughter Ashley, all of Fargo, ND; sister Beany Ferry of Bellingham; brother Glen Turner of Bellingham; two sisters-in-law, Harriet Cartwright of Bellingham and Frances Turner of Bremerton. HAUGEN, Martin, age 78, of Rt. 2, Everson, passed away April 10, (1955) in a Bellingham hospital. Mr. Haugen had been a resident of the Everson community for 49 years. During that time he was engaged in logging and farming. He is survived by two sons, Conrad and Arnold of Rt. 2, Everson; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, all of Everson, and two brothers and one sister in Minnesota; also numerous nieces and nephews. HAUGEN, Melvin, 94, 2185 Seamount Drive, Ferndale, died Aug. 2, 1990 at the Pioneer Ridge Nursing Home in Ferndale. He was born Dec. 16, 1895 in Lesje, Norway. He was a Whatcom County resident since 1908. He was a bookkeeper and retired after 25 years with Whatcom County Road Department. Mr. Haugen was a U.S. Army WWI veteran; a member and past commander of Blaine Post No. 86 American Legion. He served on the Whitehorn and Blaine School Boards for 20 years and was a member of the Jet Oldsters Senior Center of Ferndale. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hester Arntzen Haugen in 1961 and two daughters, Elizabeth and Isabel Haugen. He is survived by his wife, Caroline F. Haugen of Bellingham; a son, Melvin Haugen, Jr. and wife Doreen of Bellingham; a daughter, Gloria Balzer and husband Elden of Ferndale; step children, Helen Wifler and husband Eugene, Betty Erickson and husband Marlin, Fred Fisher and wife Mary Ann, all of Bellingham; 18 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. HAUGEN, Nils, age 85, of Bellingham, died Saturday August 28, 1993 after 5 years of extended illness at Mt. Baker Care Center. Born to John Haugen and Sophia Tjsvold in Aakre, Norway on June 17, 1908, he attended school in Norway then moved to the USA at age 17 and worked a variety of jobs to include fishing in Alaska. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific on the U.S.S. Hyman during WWII at the Guadal Canal and Iowa Jima battles. Following the service he worked at the Bellingham Shipyard. June 27, 1970 he married Anne Rose in Concrete, WA. Nels (sic) was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1585. Survived by his wife, Anne Haugen of the family home; two sons, John Richard Litz of Seattle and Charles William Litz of Whidbey Island, WA; cousins, Capt. Nils Haugen and wife Ida Thomas Haugen and Ludolf Haugen and wife Judy all of Seattle and many relatives in Norway. His remains will be sent to Norway for services. HAUGEN, Ole, age 92, of 700 Sunset Avenue, passed away in a local hospital Thursday, October 6, (1949). Mr. Haugen had been a resident of the Whitehorn district near Ferndale for the past 41 years. Surviving relatives include one daughter, Mrs. Petrine Sybouts, of Bellingham; three sons, Hans and Melvin, of Blaine, Route 1, and Oscar, of Bellingham; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives. Funeral services were conducted within the Monroe Mortuary in Ferndale, Monday, October 10 at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Sylvester Rue officiating. Interment in Enterprise.
HAUGEN, Ole, age 71 years, of Seattle, passed away at a Seattle hospital Thursday, June 5, following a short illness. Mr. Haugen was a former resident of Bellingham. HAUGEN, Oscar O., age 68 years, who residence was 3844 Alabama Street, passed away Wednesday, December 28, (1955), of a heart attack while visiting in Entiat, Washington. Mr. Haugen had resided in Bellingham for the past 47 years and previous to his retirement had been employed by the Bellingham Plywood Company. He leaves to survive a wife, Marie; two sons, George and Henry Haugen of Bellingham; two daughters, Mrs. Mable Pate, also of Bellingham, and Mrs. Helen Gerson, Entiat, Washington; one sister, Mrs. Patrina Johnson of Bellingham; two brothers, Melvin Haugen of Blaine, and Hans of Ferndale; also six grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 30, at 2 o'clock in the Chapel of the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home with Rev. George Ackley officiating. HAUGEN, Phyllis A., 70, of 709 E. Main St., Everson, passed away on Sunday, April 5, 1992 at st. Joseph Hospital Main Campus. She was born in Drumheller, Alberta to Theodore and Alfreda Sorenson on July 6, 1921. She lived almost her entire life in Whatcom County. She graduated from Nooksack Valley High School and married Arnold Haugen on March 22, 1940. They celebrated 50 year of marriage at the Bellingham Yacht Club in 1990. She worked many years as a salesperson at Everson Drug Store. Her hobbies were reading, gardening, traveling with her family. She was a member of the Nooksack Valley United Methodist Church and the Whatcom County Orthopedic Guild. She is survived by her husband, Arnold of the family home; a son, Jim and wife Peggy Haugen of Lynden; two daughters, Penny and husband Bill Zehnder of Bellingham, and Kim and husband Paul Slavens of Bellingham; a brother, Wayne Sorenson of Bellingham; three sisters, Pat O'Grady of Bellingham, Betty Walthers of Deming and Shirley Thompson of Medford, Ore.; and seven grandchildren. A graveside service was held this morning at Nooksack Cemetery. A memorial service followed at Nooksack Valley United Methodist Church in Nooksack with Rev. Mark Johnson officiating. Arrangements were made by Westford Funeral Home of Bellingham.

HAUGEN, Sigurd, 76, of 1112 18th St. died Sunday (Feb. 4, 1990) at St. Joseph Hospital after having a heart attack. No services will be held. Mr. Haugen was born Jan. 20, 1914, in Norway, and moved to Bellingham in 1924. He attended Western Washington University for three years. During World War II, he worked for Boeing Co. From 1950 to 1955, he worked in the Bellingham Shipyards. He also was a maintenance worker for the city's school system. He is survived by his brother, Nils Haugen, of Bellingham. HAUGHT, David W., age 76 of 1038 VanWyck Road, Bellingham, passed away Monday Dec. 16, 1991 in Tacoma. He attended St. Claire's Ville High School in Ohio and married Doris Kayser in 1954 in Angolia, Indiana. The family traveled and lived numerous places while working with a bridge construction company. Dave was a Pile Driver Union member. In 1960 Dave was injured on the job. In 1912 he retired and leased the Gull Station on the Guide Meridian for 16 years. In 1989 he entered a Tacoma care facility and remained there until his death. He was a member of the Albert J. Hamilton Post #7, American Legion, the VFW and the Lynden YMCA, He is survived by wife, Doris of the family home; sons David Jr., Minn., William Mauntel, Dennis Haught, Birch Bay, Rickey Haught, Bellingham, Paul Croak, Georgia; 2 daughters, Cathy Chisman Elyria, Ohio, Gayle Gerg, Carnation, WA; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Balser, Cleveland, Ohio. HAUGHT, Dennis W., age 55, passed away May 13, 2002 at his Sumas home. Mr. Haught was born in Cleveland, Ohio January 2, 1947. He came to Whatcom County 10 years ago and had worked as a crane operator. She moved from Norway to Bellingham in 1927 with her husband and three children and has lived here ever since; was a lifetime member of the Sons of Norway in Bellingham; and, for many years, worked at the Leopold Hotel. She is survived by her two sons, Norval Haugness and Jim Rundquist of Bellingham; two daughters, Helena Willison and her husband Burgess of Bellingham and Blanche Hudson and her husband Kingsley of Santa Barbara, CA; nine grandchildren; a brother, Peter Lind of Bellingham and a sister Valborg Berlind of Oslo Norway; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday March 22, 1993, at Bay View Cemetery. HAUGO, Sigvald - A funeral for Sigvald Haugo of Custer will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Moles Funeral Home, followed by burial in Enterprise Cemetery. Mr. Haugo died Thursday, May 7, 1998. He was 82. Born March 18, 1916 to Tarjei and Anne Skjelbred Haugo in Mahnomen, Minn., he lived in Whatcom County for 14 years. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1935 to 1937 on Orcas Island. On Feb. 19, 1954, he married Emmie Breeze in Bellingham. She died in 1995. Mr. Haugo worked for Burlington Northern Railroad from 1955 to 1983 on the bridge and building crew. He enjoyed trips to northern British Columbia and to visit relatives in Minnesota, and enjoyed country music and automobiles. She married Sverre Haugo in 1933 in Vancouver, B.C., and became a U.S. citizen in 1943. She worked as a homemaker and was active in her church and the Bellingham Senior Center. Mrs. Haugo was preceded in death by son Gerald in 1961, a grandson in 1975 and husband Sverre in 1983. Survivors include brothers John Hatley and Leonard Chornoby, both of Manitoba, and Gene Hatley of Arizona; sisters Delores and Elsie Wickenhagen of Chelan; daughter Karen Kreider of Bellingham; two granddaughters; and special friend George Simmons of Bellingham. HAUGSTAD, Ethel, age 92, long time resident of Mt. Vernon, died there Friday, February 19, 1982. She was born at Jim Creek, Washington May 25, 1889 and was married to Iver Haugstad in Stanwood in 1922. He preceded her in death in 1950. She had resided at Jim Creek a number of years, also Stanwood, Bellingham & Lyman. Survivors are 2 nephews, Arnold Libby of Mt. Vernon; Rex Libby of Seattle. Mr. Hauser had resided in Bellingham for the past 35 years. He leaves to survive his wife, Lyra Hauser; one brother Fred Hauser of Woodlawn, Wash.; two sisters, Mrs. Maude Ehl of Seattle, and Mrs. Pearl Hauser of North Carolina. The remains lie in state at the family home until Tuesday at 2 p.m. when family and friends will leave from the home for Bayview Cemetery where graveside services will be conducted under the direction of Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home.

HAUT, Henry W. "Hank", age 84, of Ferndale, WA, lost his battle with cancer on Oct. 29, 2008. He was born Nov. 18, 1923, in Olean, NY, to Henry J. and Emma Haut. Hank was inducted into the Marines in 1942 where he served in WWII. He landed in the South Pacific where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart. He was discharged in 1945. Hank married Jean Marie Johnson on June 7, 1947, in Olean. They were transferred to Ferndale in 1953 when Mobil Oil moved to Washington. He was a boilermaker/blacksmith for Mobil for 42 years when he retired in 1984. Hank was a member of the VFW in Custer, American Legion in Ferndale, and DAV in Bellingham. He loved bowling, fishing, and golf. Hank is survived by a son, David J. Haut, and daughter Lynn M. Ewing; grandchildren, Allen Weller, Douglas Haskell, Jeffrey Haut and Jason Haut; and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Jean; his parents; his sisters, Minnie Fisher, Alma Reaza, Irna Runyon; and a brother, Edward Haut. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 3, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bellingham at 1 p.m. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to services. Mrs. Haut was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Bellingham and the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post #154 of Ferndale. She is survived by her husband Henry of the family home; a daughter Lynn Ewing of Federal Way, WA; a son David Haut and wife Elizabeth of Foothill Ranch, CA; 4 grandsons, a sister Isabelle Johnson of Olean; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. HAVELAND, Cora, age 57, of 7466 Corliss Ave., Seattle, passed away in a Seattle Sanitarium Monday, Dec. 4, (1961). A former 20-year resident of Bellingham, Mrs. Haveland had resided in Seattle for the past 30 years; was a retired teacher, having taught in the Bremerton, Tacoma and Seattle schools; was a member of the Lutheran Church. Survivors are her husband, Alfred E., at home; one son, Alan, of Seattle; two sisters, Mrs. William Swan and Mrs. Sam Sorenson, both of Bellingham; one brother, Albert Hendrickson, of Sumas; several nieces and nephews. HAVEMAN, Adrianna - Visitation for Adrianna Haveman of Lynden will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. Burial will be at 10:15 a.m. Monday in Monumenta Cemetery, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. in Second Christian Reformed Church in Lynden, with the Rev. Marc deWaard officiating. Mrs. Haveman died at Pleasant Acre Adult Care Home near Lynden on Thursday, April 6, 2000. She was 86. Born on June 24, 1913, to Edward and Celia (Niewusma) Huisingh in Hull, N.D., she was the oldest of five children and worked in her father's store after completing eighth grade. She married Herman Haveman in Hull on Nov. 8, 1933. In 1938, Mrs. Haveman and her husband moved to Lynden, where they were members of Second Christian Reformed Church. She was president of the Dorothy Society, taught Sunday school, worked at Christian Health Care Center and was president of Lynden Christian Mother's Club. Mrs. Haveman and her husband like to travel and work in disaster areas with the Christian Reformed World Relief Committee. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991; daughter Doris VandeKeift in 1992; brothers Pete and Herman Huisingh; and sister Cecilia VanLoo. Survivors include son Vern Haveman of Custer; daughters Joann Orange of Bow, Gladys Visser of Lynden and Joyce DeBeeld of Lynden; sister Angie VanAndel of Lynden; 15 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Gillies Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Lynden.
HAVEMAN, Albert - Graveside funeral services for former Lynden resident Albert Haveman, 88, will be conducted on Thursday at 11 a.m. in Monumenta Cemetery with Rev. Julius Brandt officiating. Mr. Haveman, who died in a Mount Vernon nursing home on Monday, Oct. 15, 1990, was born in Michigan on Dec. 9, 1901 and was the son of John and Elizabeth Haveman. Prior to his illness he was a lay minister in Mississippi for the Mooody Bible Institute. He is survived by nieces Ada Nieveen of Lynden and Elizabeth Pettit of Ferndale. He graduated from Meridian High School in 1967 and had been employed primarily as a dairy farmer in the county. He had been a Plummer resident for the past 1 1/2 years, where he was employed as a carpenter. A member of Faith Reformed Church in Lynden, Darrel is survived by his wife Bobbi Jo and Plummer; children, John, Joseph, Veronica and Amy Haveman, all of Lynden; parents, John "Bud" and Arlene Haveman of Lynden; brother, Brian Haveman and wife Jodi; sisters, Bobbie and husband James Lively and Leah Gemmill, all of Bellingham; and numerous other relatives. HAVEMAN, Elizabeth (Beth), passed away at St. Francis Extended Care Facility, Monday, January 10, 1994. Mrs. Haveman was born in Sumas, (Nov. 15, 1904) the daughter of William and Agnes Atkins. Beth spent her entire life in Whatcom County. She was 89. Her husband, Albert, passed away in 1964. She was a member of St. Lukes Auxiliary, The Bellingham Senior Center and was a talented seamstress. Beth is survived by her son, Tom Haveman and his wife, Pat of Bellingham; daughter Ruth Monson and husband, Ian of Bellingham, and daughter, Margaret Lind and her husband, Don of Bellingham. She also leaves two sisters, Kathleen Atkins of Bellingham and Ruth Hyde of Seattle. Beth also leaves numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly. HAVEMAN, Herman - A memorial funeral service of Lynden's 1988 Senior Citizen of the Year, Herman Haveman, was conducted on Monday, March 26, 1990, at 3 p.m. in Second Christian Reformed Church with Revs. Louis Kerkstra and William Verwolf officiating. Burial preceded in Monumenta Cemetery at 2:15 p.m. Mr. Haveman, age 78, of 1008 W. Grover St., Lynden, passed away in a Bellingham hospital on Thursday, March 22, (1990). He was born in Strasburg, North Dakota, on June 3, 1911, a son of John J. and Fannie (Detters) Haveman. On Nov. 8, 1933 he was married to Adrianna Huisingh in Hull, North Dakota. In 1938 Mr. Haveman moved with his family to Lynden. Mr. Haveman operated a service station at the Guide Meridian and Front Street, which eventually became the Huisingh-Haveman auto dealership. After selling the dealership, Herman sold real estate and drove school bus for Lynden Christian School for 19 years. He was a member and former elder and deacon of Second Christian reformed Church, a member of the Gideons International Whatcom Camp and did volunteer work at the Lynden Senior Center. He also served on the boards of Lynden Christian School and the Christian Rest Home. He is survived by his wife, Adrianna, of the family home; a son, Vern and wife Trudy of Lynden; four daughters, Joann and husband John Orange of Mount Vernon, Gladys and husband George Visser, Doris and husband Howard VendeKieft and Joyce and husband Paul DeBeeld, all of Lynden; 15 grand- and 20 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. Services were under the direction of Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1962 by brothers Herman Heeringa, Lewis Heeringa, Henry Heeringa and Thomas Heeringa and by sisters Dena VanderKooi and Sadie Radder. Survivors include sons Gerald Haveman, Kenneth Haveman, Clyde Haveman and Glen Haveman, all of Lynden daughters Christine Haveman of Lynden and Sharon Buss of Orting, 15 grandchildren 33 great-grandchildren, brothers Peter Heeringa and Gerrit Heeringa, both of Lynden and numerous other relatives.

HAVEMAN, Maggie - A memorial service for Maggie Haveman of Lynden was held today, Oct. 12, at Second Christian Reformed Church at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Louis Kerkstra officiating. Mrs. Haveman passed away at the Christian Rest Home on Friday, Oct. 7, 1988, at the age of 95. She was born on Oct. 20, 1892, in Michigan to Guy and Sarah Dyk. In 1902 she came to this community and on April 8, 1914, she married Henry Haveman in Lynden. She was a homemaker. She is survived by three daughters, Wanda Haveman, Margaret Assink and husband Floyd and Dorothy Van Loo and husband Evertt (sic), all of Lynden; two sons, Stanley Haveman and wife Ann of Lynnwood and Marion and wife Gladys of Seattle; two half-sisters, Hattie TeSelle of Lynden and Reka Dyksterhuis of Sedro-Woolley; one sister-in-law, Hermina Vogel and husband Frank of Lynden; one half-brother, John Dyk of Bellingham; 14 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, and a daughters, Henrietta.
HAVEMAN, Shirley Mae, 52, of Lynden died at her home on Feb. 28, 1995 following an extended illness. A memorial funeral service was held Friday at First Reformed Church in Lynden with Revs. Eric Schulze, Terry Maassen and Marc de Waard officiating. Private burial was in Greenacres Memorial Park. Mrs. Haveman was born in Bellingham on Oct. 13, 1942, the daughter of Kenneth G. and Edith Linnea Jacobson Peterson. She grew up in south Bellingham and graduated from Bellingham High School in 1960 and from Moody Bible Institute in 1965. She was the director of Christian education at Broadway Presbyterian Church in Bellingham and Woodway Community Reformed Church in Edmonds, where she live for 28 years before returning to Whatcom County six months ago. She was a 16-year member of Good Shepherd Reformed Church in Lynnwood and recently First Reformed Church in Lynden. In Bellingham on Aug. 25, 1967 she was married to Gary Haveman and he survives his wife at the family home. Other survivors include two daughters Kim Twedt and husband Paul of Tukwila and Kerry Haveman of Lynnwood; brother Ron Peterson and wife Penny of Bellingham; father-in-law Alfred and mother-in-law Sarah Haveman; two brothers-in-law, Dennis Hollander and wife Lynette and Richard Porter and wife Laurie, all of Lynden; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services and arrangements were under the care of Gillies Funeral Home of Lynden.
HAVEMAN, Winifred M. - Funeral services for Mrs. Winifred M. "Peg" Haveman, age 73, of 2621 Peabody Street, Bellingham, were conducted on Tuesday, December 16, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Gillies Funeral Home with Rev. Gordon Van Oostenburg officiating. Burial followed in Monumenta Cemetery. Born in Montana, Mrs. Haveman had been a long-time county resident and had worked for many years as a registered nurse. She was married to her husband, Clarence in Montana on June 4, 1936; Mr. Haveman died in 1972. She is survived by a sister Mrs. Lena (Herman) Oltman, in Hesperia, Ca., a brother and sister-in-law, Alfred and Sarah Haveman of Lynden; three nieces and a nephew; numerous great-nieces and nephews and cousins.
HAVERKAMP, Dena - Visitation for Ms. Dena Haverkamp of Lynden will be at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden on Sunday, Jan. 27, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. to Noon on Monday, Jan. 28. Burial will be in Monumenta Cemetery on Monday at 1:15 p.m. followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. in the Second Christian Reformed Church in Lynden with Rev. William VandenBos officiating. Ms. Haverkamp died at the Christian Health Care Center in Lynden on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002. She was 78. A lifetime Lynden resident, Dena was the daughter of Jacob and Geurtje (VanEgdom) Haverkamp and was born on February 8, 1923. A high school graduate, she started as a waitress at the Elenbaas Coffee Shop on Front Street before becoming secretary and part-owner of Elenbaas Dairy Supply. She retired in 1982. She was a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church, enjoyed her cats, and was also active in the Lynden Senior Center. Besides her parents, Dena was preceded by an infant sister and sister Jennie Otter and brother Gib Haverkamp. She is survived by one sister, Hermina Visser of Lynden and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to your favorite charity. Services are under the care of Gillies Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Lynden.

A retired logger, Mr. Haverkamp had been a lifetime Lynden resident and is survived by 1 son, Kenneth and a daughter, Connie May both of Seattle; 3 sisters, Mrs. Hermina Visser, Mrs. Jennie & husband John Otter, Miss Dena Haverkamp, all of Lynden; 2 grandchildren and a step-daughter, Mrs. Joan Hunt in Montana. Funeral services will be conducted on Thurs. Sept. 17 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Gillies Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Monumenta Cemetery. [b. July 19, 1915 Lynden, WA]
HAVERKAMP, Jacob, age 80 years, of 921 Judson St., Lynden, passed away at a local rest home Tuesday, May 15, (1962) following a short illness. A retired farmer he had made hi home in the Lynden area since 1909. Surviving are one son, Gysbert Haverkamp of Lynden; three daughters, Mrs. John G. Otter and Miss Dena Haverkamp, both of Lynden, and Mrs. Hans Visser of Everson; also 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden, Saturday, May 19, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bernard Byma officiating. Burial will follow in the Monumenta Cemetery.
HAVIG, William O., aged 59 years, formerly a resident of Bellingham, passed away at Sacramento, California, Tuesday, June 29, (1943) after an extended illness. Mr. Havig formerly lived at 721 Lake Street, this city, and moved to California about five years ago. Surviving relatives include, four sisters, Mrs. Ida Holness of Mount Vernon, Wash., Mrs. Elmer Carlson, of Indianapolis, Indiana, Mrs. Tilda Waller, of Seattle, and Mrs. Roy Moe, of Bellingham; also numerous nieces and nephews. The remains were received by the Bingham-Dahlquist Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 7, at 2 p.m.
