HASELTINE, Alvina F. (Winnie), age 91 of 1415 84th, space #77, Everett, passed away Sunday Sept. 30, 1979, in a Marysville Nursing Home. A former resident of this community for 60 years, she is survived by 1 daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Elaine Robinson and her husband, Roy, of Everett; 1 brother, Fred Brokens of Anacortes; 4 sisters, Charlotte Saxby and Bertha Terrell, both of Anacortes, and Louise Florence and Emma Anderson, both of City; 2 granddaughters, Mrs. Pamela Eldridge of Everett and Mrs. JoAnn Cull of Marysville; 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews. Graveside services will be conducted by Rev. John Melton, Wed. Oct. 3, 1 p.m. at Bayview Cemetery Arrangements by Jones Funeral Home.

HASELTINE, Percy A., age 65, of 1213 18th St., passed away in a local hospital Thursday, June 17, (1954). Mr. Haseltine had been a life resident of this community and prior to his retirement, had been employed by the Pacific American Fisheries, warehousing. Deceased was a Life member of Fairhaven Lodge No. 73, F. and A. M., and leaves to survive his widow, Alvina F. at home; one daughter, Mrs. Elaine Robinson of Bellingham; two granddaughters, Misses Joanne and Pamela Robinson, both of Bellingham; one brother, Earl S. of Valdez, Alaska; two sisters, Mrs. Mary B. Peterson, of Pt. Orchard, and Mrs. Eva V. Lundeen of Bremerton; also many nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. Clarence Haugen and officers, of the Masonic Lodge, Monday, June 21, at 3 p.m. Final resting place, Bay View.

HASELWOOD, Martha E., 89, of 1431 Sunset Avenue, passed away at a local hospital Wednesday, March 21, (1951), after a lingering illness. Mrs. Haselwood had been a resident of the North Bellingham district for 32 years, and was a member of the North Bellingham Community Church. Surviving relatives include two sons, Alfred, of Route 2, Sedro Woolley, and Charles, of Ellensburg, also numerous other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 24, at 2 p.m. from the Monroe Mortuary in Ferndale. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery.

HASERT, Anna P., age 72, of 1410 Wilson, passed away at a local hospital Wednesday, July 1, (1953) following a short illness. Mrs. Hasert resided in Bellingham for the past 27 years and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. She is survived by her husband, Louis, at the family home; two sons Frank, of Garritson, S.D., Virgil, of this city; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, July 6, at 1 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl Eggers, pastor of the Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Interment Greenacres Memorial Park.

HASERT, Louis C., age 79 of 719 Donovan, passed away in a local hospital Friday, March 8, (1963). Mr. Hasert had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 36 years and was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and was a retired Railroad man. He leave to survive two sons, Virgil of this city, Frank of Garritson, So. Dak., four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Martha Strunk of San Jose, Calif., one brother, Albert of Minneapolis. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 12, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond Pfleuger officiating. Interment Greenacres.

HASERT, Virgil L., age 47 of 719 Donovan passed away suddenly at his home, Tuesday, October 15, (1963). Mr. Hasert had resided in Bellingham for the past 41 years, was a machinist, a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, and a member of the International Association of Machinists. He leaves to survive his wife, Ellen at home, his daughter Mrs. Marlene Jackson, his step-son, Louis VanDuisen, both of this city; 4 grandchildren; 1 brother, Frank of Garretson, South Dakota. The remains will lie in state at the Westford Funeral Home until 12 o'clock noon Thursday, October 17. Funeral services will be held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church Thursday, October 17 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Raymond E. Pfluger, pastor officiating. Interment Bay View Cemetery.

HASHISAKI, Joseph, age 68, of 1232 E. Racine, passed away Thurs. Jan. 2, (1986). Dr. Hashisaki had resided in Bellingham since 1962; was retired from the Mathematics Dept. at WWU; veteran of WWII and a member of Bellingham Golf & Country Club. His interests included coaching Little League Baseball, sportsfishing, hunting & golf. He leaves to survive his wife Mary Jane of the home; 2 sons, Dr. Peter Hashisaki & wife Sandra DiAngi of Kirkland and Dr. George Hashisaki of Charlottesville, Virginia; 3 daughters, Dr. Geraldine Hashisaki and husband Dr. Frank Tubridy of Seattle, Sono Hashisaki & husband Jack Turnock of Seattle & Susan Hashisaki of Bellevue; 3 grandchildren, Eiko, Miyo & Michael Tubridy; 2 brothers, Cass & Toke Hashisaki, both of Joliet, Montana; 3 sisters, Toski Gregory of Joliet, Marie Fujihara of Altadena, Calif. and Mary Gruel of Edmond, Oklahoma; numerous other relatives. HASKELL, Frank M., age 87, of 702 32nd St., passed away Monday evening July 26, (1982). A lifetime resident of Bellingham; retired past president of the Haskell Corp. He was past president & director of the Bellingham Housing Authority for many years; past board member of the Seattle First National Bank; past board member of the Washington Athletic Club, Seattle; a charter 60 year member and past president of the Bellingham Central Lions Club; member of the Bellingham Bay Masonic Lodge No. 44 F & AM; Scottish Rite Bodies; The Nile Temple of the Shrine; charter member & past president of the Northwest Shrine Club; member of the Elks Lodge BPOE No. 194; the Bellingham Golf & Country Club and the Bellingham Yacht Club. Survived by 2 sons, Edward Haskell & wife Mary of Everett, and F. Murray "Red" Hasekell & wife Betty, both of Bellingham; 9 grandchildren; many nieces, nephews & other relatives. HASKELL, Jim M. - Bellingham native Jim M. Haskell, 35, died Wednesday (April 4, 1990) in Seattle. Mr. Haskell was born on Jan. 16, 1955, and was graduated from Sehome High School. He attended Washington State University, Western Washington University and was graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle. He was an officer at U.S. Bank of Washington in Seattle. Survivors include in parents, F. Murray "Red" Haskell and Betty Haskell of Bellingham; a sister Joeen Daughters of Bellingham; grandparents Frank and Katherine Cassell of Bellingham; three nephews; a niece; and several other relatives. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday at Westford Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Bayview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Westford Funeral Home.

HASKELL, Lucina - Lifetime Bellingham resident, Lucinda Haskell, 87, died July 13, (1981).She had been an active officer in the Haskell Corporation, member of the Bellingham Yacht Club, Bellingham Golf and Country Club, Aftermath Club, Daughter of the Nile, Maple Leaf Chapter O.E.S., Zenobia Club, and a Charter member and past president of the Bellingham Central Ladies Lions. She is survived by her husband Frank M.; two sons Edward, Everett and F. Murray (Red), Bellingham; nine grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Services were July 16 in the chapel of the Westford Funeral Home.

HASKINS, Doris Marie - Graveside services for Doris Marie Haskins will be held at 1 p.m. today at Greenacres Memorial Park with the Rev. Al Currier officiating. Mrs. Haskins, formerly of 2335 King st., died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1993. She was 81. Born Sept. 10, 1912, to William and Effie Newlove, she was active in PTA and Campfire Girls for many years. Her husband, Victor, died March 9, 1992. After his death, she moved to Seattle to live with a daughter. Survivors include sons Frederick Roy Haskins of Bellingham, V. Lyle Haskins of Tahlequah, Okla., and Robert William Haskins of Portland, Ore.; daughters Shirley Lorraine Doyle of Carbondale, Ill., and Donna Eileen Israel of Seattle; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and cousins.

HASKINS, Haley Gene-Marie, born to Darryl and Rebecca Haskins of Seattle on Feb. 6, 1993, died Sunday, March 21, 1993, in Seattle. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Lairmont Manor in Bellingham. Burial will be in Bayview Cemetery. She is survived by her parents; sister Allyson Jo Haskins; grandparents Eloise and Fred Haskins of Bellingham and Josephine and Jerry Moore of Hoquiam; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. HASKINS, Jeanette - Visitation for retired store clerk Jeanette V. Haskins, 64, will be from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Jones Funeral Home. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. John Busch officiating. Private burial will be at Bayview Cemetery. Mrs. Haskins, 400 Flynn St., died Thursday at a local nursing home. Born Nov. 24, 1923, in Amery, Wis., she moved to Bellingham in 1946 and on Dec. 21, 1946, married Reginald Haskins, who survived her. Survivors also include a daughter, Cindy Hay of Bellingham, two brothers and a sister. Mrs. Haskins was a member of the Northwest Baptist Church.

HASKINS, Margarett Eugenia "Gene" 72, of Bellingham died in a Seattle hospital Wednesday, (May 20, 1987). She was born Jan. 10, 1915, in Cushing, Okla., and married Loyd A. Haskins of Bellingham on May 20, 1935. She was a member of Community Baptist Church, 810 Samish Way. In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Mary Susan Haskins of Blaine, and two sisters, Virginia Jones of Cushing and Lucille McConkey of Benbrook, Texas. The Rev. Steve McDaniel will officiate a memorial service at 4 p.m. Saturday at Community Baptist Church. The funeral will be in Cushing.

HASKINS, Randy William, 7-day-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Reginald Haskins of 1914 King St., passed away in a local hospital, Thursday, July 17, (1958). Besides the parents, he is survived by one sister, Cynthia at home; grandparents, Mrs. Edith Deverseth of Bellingham, William Haskins of Huntington Park, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Gustafson of Balsam Lake, Wis. HASKINS, Victor B., age 86, of 2335 King St., Bellingham, passed away Monday, March 9, 1992. Born March 28, 1905 in Monmouthshire, Wales, Mr. Haskins was a resident of Whatcom County for 65 years. HASSEBROCK, Carl William Jacob, age 93, of Ferndale, passed away Wednesday morning Nov. 12, 2003 in Bellingham. Born in Hebron, North Dakota, Carl married Laura Barbara Kinnischitzke on Nov. 24, 1933. Carl and Laura moved to Washington in 1943 with their children: Glorian, Jerry, Glenn, Bruce and Joyce. Carl and his family lived in Enumclaw area, where their youngest son Jim was born, before finally moving to Whatcom County in 1953. Carl is survived by his wife of 70 years, Laura; brother George Hassebrock or North Dakota; sister, Lorrie Kindsvogel of Enumclaw; children, Glorian and Robert Hubbard of California, Carol Hassebrock of Sumas, Glenn and Betty Hassebrock of Port Orchard, Bruce and Marie Hassebrock of Bellingham, Joyce and Jack Petterson of Kirkland, and Jim and Bobbie Hassebrock of Port Orchard; 15 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Carl was preceded in death by son, Jerry Hassebrock of Sumas in 1996. Carl was an avid card player and horse lover. He was a devoted Grandfather (Papa) and spent endless hours saddling and leading his ponies for delighted grandchildren Carl was happiest when his family was around him and enjoyed "tinkering" in the garage on farm equipment and engines with his sons. He enjoyed all kinds of music and taught himself to play the fiddle as a child in North Dakota. Carol was a devout Lutheran and a regular at Zion Lutheran Church in Ferndale. Having lived through the depression, Carl tried his hand at many jobs. His favorites were working as security guard for Intalco and at the White River Lumber Mill in Enumclaw before finally running his own dairy farm on the Kickerville Road in Blaine. A memorial service will be held Fri., Nov. 14, noon at Zion Lutheran Church, 7215 Valley View Rd., Ferndale with Rev. Joann Pearson officiating. Burial will be at Greenacres|Moles Cemetery.

HASSEBROCK, Jerald D. of Sumas died of leukemia on Saturday, May 18, 1996, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was 59. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Greenacres Funeral Home chapel with Pastor John Leaf officiating. Burial will follow at Greenacres Memorial Park. Born Oct. 19, 1936 to Carl and Laura Hassebrock in Hebron, ND, he lived in Whatcom County for 28 years. Mr. Hassebrock graduated from Ferndale High School in 1954 and from Olympia Community College's Puget Sound Naval Shipyard apprenticeship program. He served in the U.S. Navy for three years, the Department of Defense for 10 years and the U.S. Customs Service for 26 years. He married Carol Gerard in Ferndale on April 21, 1961. Survivors include his wife; son Michael D. Hassebrock of Blaine; daughter Carla Ann Gelwicks of Alger; three granddaughters; his parents of Ferndale; sisters Glorian Hubbard of Ojia, Calif., and Joyce Petterson of Kirkland; brothers Glenn Hassebrock and Jim Hassebrock, both of Port Orchard, and Bruce Hassebrock of Bellingham; and 24 nieces and nephews. HASSELBERG, Louis Ray, beloved husband of Mary (Christensen), father of Lewis Frederick, Marvin L. Hassel berg, Joyce Cooper, and Eileen Dambacher. Brother of William J. Wagner, and grandfather of 4. He was a hydro-plane driver and volunteer coordinator at the Seattle Sea Fair Races for 27 years. Funeral services Saturday 10 a.m. at Yarington's Funeral Home, Seattle.

HASETT, Alice Goldia - A graveside service for Alice Goldia Hassett of Bellingham will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Greenacres Memorial Park with the Rev. Rich De Ruiter officiating. Mrs. Hassett died Saturday, July 11, 1998 at St. Joseph Hospital. She was 87. Born Sept. 16, 1910 to James and Eleanor Servoss Miller in Fayette, Iowa, she lived in Whatcom County since 1972. She enjoyed reading, children, nature and gardening. Survivors include children Colleen Hall, Alanna Kester and James Mortimer, all of Bellingham, Lawrence Mortimer of Ferndale, Patricia Grover of Deming and Steve Hassett of Spokane; stepchildren Ed Hassett of Florence, Ore., Raymond Hassett of Cleveland, Texas, Bea Harrington of Libby, Mont., Norman Hassett of Bountiful, Utah and Russel Hassett of Fresno, Calif.; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.

HASTIN, George E., (Bud) was born on Lopez Island on Sept. 27, 1917 and passed away in Anacortes on Jan. 4, 1978 after a lingering illness. Bud spent most of his adult life in Bellingham before moving to Anacortes on Dec. 2, 1977. He was employed on the Great Northern Railroad for 30 years from which he was retired in 1971 by total disability. He leaves to mourn his passing his mother, Helen at home; a daughter, Susan Hastin of Bellingham; 2 brothers, Phil of Lopez Island and James of Greys River; 2 nieces, Phyllis Norman of Seattle and Dale Smith of Spokane; nephew, J. D. Hastin of Bellingham; grandmother, Sue Hastin; 2 aunts, Martha Sue Gonzales and Naomi Hastin of Vancouver, WA; an aunt Joyce Mather of Portland, Ore.; also several cousins and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held on Lopez Island, Sat., Jan. 7 with interment in Center Cemetery.

HASTINGS, Harriet H., age 81, of 900 University, Seattle, passed away in Seattle Sept. 20, 1987. She was born in Ferndale Nov. 6, 1905, lived in Ferndale most of her life, the last 11 years in Seattle. She was a member of the United Church of Ferndale, member of Chapter BQ PEO. She graduated from Whitman College, Walla Walla, earned her masters degree in Economics from Tufts University, Boston. She was a former director of the First National Bank of Ferndale. Survivors include 2 daughters, Grace Estelle Plaster & husband Mickey of Boerne, Texas, Martha Piwonka & husband Tom of Ohio; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister Lois & husband Lyle Brinkerhoff; brother, Jack Hood & wife Suzanne; cousin, Pauline Hood. HATCH, Charles Albert, age 71 of 2209 Burns St. passed away Fri. Dec. 21, (1979) in a local nursing home. He was a member of Advent Christian Church and a self employed carpenter for many years. He leaves to survive his wife Ruth of home, 3 daughters, Sandra Penny of Auburn, Joyce Alderson of Lynden and Karen Olson of B'ham. 6 grandchildren, 1 sister, Blanche Graham of B'ham. HATCH, Edith L., 90, passed away November 23, 1991 in a local nursing home. She was born in Salem, Iowa Nov. 11, 1901, lived in Idaho and Washington most of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford in 1983. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she had lived in Bellingham 7 years. She is survived by 2 sons, Gene C. Hatch & wife Harriet of Bellingham and Dwaine M. Hatch & wife Karen of Bellevue, WA; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. HATCH, Edna Faye, age 70, of 2120 Donovan Avenue, passed away at home Thursday, December 18, (1952). Mrs. Hatch, a resident here for the past 14 years. In youth in Dakota City, Iowa, was a member of the Methodist Church, Good Templers Lodge, Order of Rebeckah, later was active in the Community Club, PTA, Woman's Club, and was a Sunday School teacher for 10 years. In Seattle was active in Unemployed Citizens League, chairman of Child-Welfare, and was president of the City-County Central Child-Welfare. Was a member of the Commonwealth Builders, also Technocrats, writing for that group organ several months. In Bellingham, she joined the Auxiliary to the Plumbers and Steamfitters, Local No. 40, and for nearly a year wrote "Busy Housewife Looks At War" column in The Bellingham Labor News. She is survived by her husband, Myrick L. Hatch, at home; two sons, Arthur D. Holt, of Columbus, Ohio, Richard V. Holt, of Baltimore, Md; one daughter, Mrs. Gladys Clapper, of Auburn, Iowa; two step-sons, Wyrick K. Hatch, of Martinez, California; and Douglas Hatch, of Seattle; 10 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. HATCH, Flora I., age 85, a Pioneer Whatcom County resident, passed away in a local resthome, Sunday, May 23rd, (1976). Born in VanBuren in 1891, she made her home in the Everson area until moving to Bellingham in 1951. She was a member of the Advent Christian Church of Bellingham and is survived by one son, Lloyd of Bellingham, one daughter, Mary E. Barnhill of Alberta, Canada. A brother, M. HATCH, Hiram L., age 71, who resided at 1137 State Street, passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, July 6, (1955) following a lingering illness. HATCH, Howard Vernon - The funeral for Vernon H. Hatch, 70, of 3121 Squalicum Parkway, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Keith Madsen officiating. HATCH, Lawrence Reynolds "Larry" of Blaine died Friday Dec. 19, 1997, at Stafholt Good Samaritan Center. He was 75. A private burial will be in La Center. Born April 26, 1922, to Lawrence and Mary Berkelund Hatch in Eagle River, Wis., he lived in Whatcom County for 20 years. Mr. Hatch worked as an auto mechanic and was a member of American Legion Peace Arch Post No. 86. HATCH, Lloyd, age 76, 2416 Orleans St., Bellingham, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, (1989) at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born July 26, 1913 in Everson and was a life time resident of the county. He formerly worked for Brooks Lumber Co. as an electrician. His wife Helen died in 1982. He is survived by his sister, Mary Ethel Barnhill and husband Arnold of Red Deer, Alberta, and numerous nieces and nephews. HATCH, Robert A. passed away on July 20, 2003 in Bellingham. He was born in Bellingham on April 27, 1952 to Robert Lee and Mary (Turner) Hatch. Robert graduated from Redmond High School and attended a two-year college concentrating on mechanical drawing and architecture. He served in the U.S. Army as a tank mechanic. In his free time, Robert enjoyed painting, creating things, and doing art designs. Robert is survived by his dad Tim Fulton of Yuma, Arizona sister Elizabeth Stacy of Bellingham brothers Ronald Fulton of Bellingham and Sammy Fulton of Yumatilla, Oregon and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She enjoyed travel and entertaining friends. Mrs. Hatch was born July 16, 1925, to Theodore and Hazel (Nelson) Pirrung in Marietta, Ohio. She married Herbert Hatch on June 30, 1947, in Bellingham. She is preceded in death by daughters Nancy (Hatch) Thistle and Carol Hatch, sisters Mary Pirrung and Josephine Dickhaus, and brothers Theodore Pirrung, Jr. and John Pirrung. He came to the Clearbrook district in 1902 and had resided there until six years ago when he moved to Olympia. HATCHER, Carl E., 77, of 6838-A Raspberry Drive, Everson, passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 1993 after a long illness. Mr. Hatcher was a plywood broker in Washington and Oregon for most of his working career. He retired from the Plywood Marketing Association in 1984. He was born to Carl "Gus" and Effie Mae Hatcher on Sept. 16, 1915 in Malvern, Iowa. After graduating from high school, he met and married his wife of 53 years, Louise Detwiler, on Oct. 29, 1939 in Audubon, Iowa. Carl was employed fro six years in Omaha, Neb. before he, his wife and their daughter moved to Ephrata. Carl lived in Vancouver, Wash. for 23 years before retiring. Mr. Hatcher and his wife moved to Everson in 1988 to spend their retirement years close to their only daughter, son-in-law and two granddaughters. Carl loved to travel and managed to see all of America on two different occasions in their motorhome. The family also traveled through much of Europe. He loved to grow vegetables and enjoyed the beauty of flowers. Carl is survived by his wife Louise of the family home in Everson; a daughter, Patricia Johnston and husband Norris of Lynden; two granddaughters; a sister, Gladys April of Republic; one niece and 2 nephews. A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at New Life Fellowship Church with Rev. Ron Slater officiating. The body of Mr. Hatcher will be cremated and inurned at a later date. HATFIELD, Harold Lloyd, a longtime employee of the state Employment Security Department in Bellingham, died of cancer Tuesday (Nov. 24, 1987) at a local nursing home. Mr. Hatfield, 60, 505 W. Bakerview Road, worked for the Employment Security Department for 24 years. He received a 20-year pin from the International Association of Personnel in Employment Security and in 1986 was awarded a plaque from the department for outstanding work in promoting employment by veterans. He also worked as a teacher in Toppenish. A World War II army veteran, Mr. Hatfield was a member of the Albert J. Hamilton American Legion Post No. 7 and the William Mathews Veterans of Foreign wars post. Mr. Hatfield also was a member of the Northwest Chapter of the American Society for Personnel Administration, the Park Athletic and Recreation Club and the American Association of Retired Persons. Survivors include his wife, Beth, of the family home; a son, Mark L. Hatfield of Kirkland; two daughters, Pamela J. Hudson of Bellevue and Anna K. Jordan of Dallas, Ga.; and his mother, Celia V. Watt of Dayton. Services are pending at Westford Funeral Home.

HATFIELD, Irene C. of Bremerton, passed away Friday, February 9, 1990 at the Bremerton Convalescent Center. She was born Aug. 17, 1902 in Mount Vernon, where she married Joseph Hatfield on Oct. 13, 1923. Mr. Hatfield died in 1965. A homemaker all her life, she belonged to the Independent (sic) Order of Foresters, and St. Luke's Hospital Auxiliary of Bellingham. She enjoyed flowers, crafts and fishing. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Saxon Cemetery in Acme. Mrs. Hathaway died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at St. Joseph Hospital. She was 75. Born July 15, 1925, to Frank and Minnie Mae Doremus in LaVois, Wyo., she was raised on the oil fields of Wyoming and later moved to Portland, Ore. She worked in shipyards during World War II. On June 9, 1945, she married Nolan E. Hathaway; they settled in Wickersham. He died in 1976. Mrs. Hathaway worked many years in canneries, beginning with Stokley VanCamp of Mount Vernon and retiring from Bellingham Cold Storage. She was a retired member of Teamsters Union Local 231 and was a member of Bellingham Senior Activity Center. Two brothers and one sister also died previously. Survivors include son Frank Hathaway of Deming and Carl Hahn of Gillette, Wyo.; daughters Toni Pullar of Bellingham and Norma Sparks and LaJuana Hathaway, both of Burlington; sisters Harriet Fresia of Bellingham and Twila Atencio of Carson City, Nev.; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

HATLEN, Anna Onora, 91, formerly of Blaine, died Nov. 20, (1991) in Petaluma, Calif., after a long illness. She was born, reared and educated in Velfiord, Norway. She moved to Seattle in 1920. In 1923 she married Josva Hatlen, who died before her. Mrs. Hatlen resided in Blaine for 38 years. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She moved to Petaluma in 1990. Survivors include her sons John Hatlen of Modesto, Calif., and Lloyd Hatlen; her daughters Patricia Straub of Petaluma, and Lynn Moore of Anchorage, Alaska; her sister Molly Lion of Marysville; her brother Ivar Olsen of Blaine; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Parent-Sorensen Mortuary in Petaluma.

HATLEN, Josva - Memorial services for Josva Hatlen, 90, of 951 3rd St., Blaine, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, at Jerns-McKinney Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Donald Walter officiating. Mr. Hatlen died Thursday at a Blaine nursing home. He was born on July 3, 1900, in Aalesund, Norway. He lived 35 years in Blaine. He married his wife, Petrina, in 1923 in Seattle. Mr. Hatlen served in the Royal Norwegian Navy from 1918 to 20. At age 12, he went to sea and traveled around the world three times. He was a fisherman, seaman and farmer. He served as a pilot and first mate of ferries in San Francisco Bay. Mr. Hatlen belonged to the Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, of the family home, sons John Hatlen, of Modesto, Calif. and Lloyd Hatlen; daughters Patt (sic) Straub of Petaluma, Calif. and Lynn Moore of Anchorage, Alaska; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements are under the direction of Jerns-McKinney Funeral Chapel.

HATLEY, Bliss E., age 83, 205 S. B.C. Ave., Lynden, passed away on Sat., Dec. 3, 1983, in Lynden. Born Jan. 26, 1900 in Dayton, Wash., Mr. Hatley had been a county resident for most of his life and had resided for a number of years in the VanZandt area and was a member of the First Christian Church of Bellingham. Survived by 4 brothers, Heber and wife Erma and Frank, all of Bellingham, Clarence and wife Margaret of Everett and Porter of Seattle; 3 sisters, Mrs. Gladys and husband Hubert Tromp of Lynden, Mrs. Terrissee and husband Floyd Kuipers and Mrs. Alta and husband Fritz Blockus, all of Oroville; a brother-in-law Mr. Charles Sprague of Lynden and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Tues. Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. in Greenacres Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden. HATLEY, Clarence B., 90 of Everett died September 16, 1997 at an area hospital. He was born on December 18, 1906 in Lynden, WA. Clarence graduated from Lynden High School and went on to attend Business College and also took numerous other college courses. He spent a 30 year career in active service for the United States Navy. He was a Lieutenant and worked as a Communications Officer. Clarence was a veteran of WWII and also a survivor of Pearl Harbor. After his military career Clarence worked in the Snohomish County Assessor's Office and retired from there. Clarence is survived by his wife Gladys and her children; son Jack Hatley and wife, Pat; daughter Jean Kouri and husband Ralph; grandchildren Polly, Wes, Carmen, Michael, Laura, Stephen and Ralph, Jr.; Great Grandchildren Carmen and Jonathan; brother Heber Hatley; sisters Gladys Tromp, Terrisse Kuipers and Alta Blockhus. Clarence was preceded in death by siblings Porter, Frank, Fred, Bliss, Alice and Sadie. The graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 1997 at Monumenta Cemetery, Lynden. He will be buried next to his first wife, Winnie Hatley. Arrangements entrusted to Purdy & Walters with Cassidy Funeral Home, Everett.

HATLEY, Frank L. - Former state Rep. Frank L. Hatley, 86, died Friday (March 16, 1984). Hatley, 3813 Hatley Road, Everson, was born in Dayton Oct. 28, 1897. He was a long-time resident of Whatcom County and served as Democratic state representative for the 41st District from 1937 through 1939. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Everson, and was past commander of American Legion Post 224, a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and a WWI veteran, Barracks No. 0255WA. He was a member of Nooksack Masonic Lodge No. 192, F&AM; a member of local Carpenters Union 756; a government shipyard inspector during WWII; an educational adviser of CCC Camp and a retired schoolteacher and farmer. He was an alumnus of Lynden High School, Western Washington University and Washington State College. He is survived by one son, one daughter, four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, three brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Rev. Lewin Clefisch officiating. Burial will follow in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home.

HATLEY, Gladys Thompson - Gladys was born in Aberdeen, S.D. on January 28, 1909, and passed away on September 8, 2002 in Everett, WA at the age of 93. George Thompson, her husband of 52 years, preceded her in death on May 1, 1985. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 4 years, Clarence B. Hatley, on September 16, 1997, sister Zita and two grandchildren. Gladys is survived by her five daughters Judy Thompson Brazee of Kalamazoo, MI, Janis Kelly of Everett, WA, Janet Jarrell of Hobe Sound, FL, and Joan Shaw and Mary Jean Chase of Federal Way, WA eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Gladys lived most of her life in Bellingham, WA. In addition to raising her daughters, she worked for 26 years at Griggs Stationary Store. She was a board member of the Retail Clerks Union, and was a founding member of the Bellingham Emblem Club #489. HATT, Allen Thomas - Graveside services for Allen Thomas Hatt, 57, 1942 Trigg Road, Space 42, Ferndale, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Enterprise Cemetery, with the Rev. Ralph Polsen officiating. Mr. Hatt died Monday (Sept. 1, 1986) at his home. He was born Feb. 18, 1929, in Hazard, Ky., and had been a resident of Whatcom County since 1979. He served in the Army in World War II. HATTER, Charles Wesley, age 68, passed away suddenly at the family home, 2721 Kulshan St. Saturday, April 30, (1960). Mr. Hatter had been a 61 year resident of this community and was a member of F.O.E. Aerie No. 31 and the Lumber & Sawmill Workers Union, Local No. 2667. For many years Mr. Hatter had been employed as a fireman at the York-Ellis mill before his retirement, and leaves to survive his widow, Zella V. at home; one daughter, Mrs. Vivienne Elsethagen of Bellingham; one son, Ernest of Kirkland; seven grandchildren; one brother, Joe Hatter of Reno, Nev.; four sisters, Mrs. Dolly Morgan of Liberal, Mo., Mrs. Barbara Denley of Klamath Falls, Ore., Mrs. May Shonbeckler of Forest Grove, Ore., and Mrs. William Stone of Hillsboro, Ore., also many nieces and nephews. HATTON, Constance Chadwick passed away in a local hospital Saturday Jan. 29, (1949). Mrs. Hatton had resided in this community for many years and had taught music during that time. HATTON, Donald W., 41, a lifetime resident of Whatcom County who recently retired from the Air Force, died Tuesday (Jan. 1, 1980) from injuries suffered in an auto accident near Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 18, 1938, and had lived at 5110 LaBounty Road in Bellingham. He is survived by his parents and one sister. Private funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Veroske, Jerns and Leveck Funeral Home. Cremation will follow.

HATTON, Donald Webb, of Bellingham died Sunday, Jan. 26, 1997. He was 80. He was born Sept. 28, 1916, to Webb and Nellie Hamilton Hatton in Bellingham. Mr. Hatton retired from the U.S. Postal Service and worked at Western Washington University. Survivors include his wife, Grace, daughter Barbara Rosch, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren an numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements are by Jerns-LeVeck Funeral Chapel.

HATTON, Dorothy M., age 60, of Ferndale, passed away Wednesday, August 24, (1955) at her home, following an extended illness. Mrs. Hatton had been a resident of Ferndale the past eight years and was a member of the United Church of Ferndale, and the W.S.C.S. of the United Church. She is survived by her husband, John J.; one daughter, Lydia Ebinger, Ferndale; one son, Joseph, in New Jersey; two sisters, Mrs. Gwendolen Southey, New Westminster, B.C., and Mrs. Daisy Dryden, Crescent Beach, Canada; one brother, Thomas Hawkins, Toronto, Canada; seven grandchildren. Mrs. Hatton was a 50-year resident of Bellingham; was the widow of James Hatton; a member of the Lynden Chapter of OES, and attended the Church of God. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Hazel Schwartz, Alameda, Calif.; Mrs. Katherine Larson and Mrs. Irene Colley of Bellingham; one son, R. H. HATTON, James Finley, age 79, of 1507 I St., passed away in a local hospital Sunday, Oct. 19, (1952). Mr. Hatton had resided in this community for over 50 years and was a retired carpenter. Deceased was a member of the Church of God, and leaves to survive his widow, Emily, at home; two sons, Manley and LeRoy, both in Oregon; five daughters, Mrs. Doris Thompson of Deming, Mrs. Wanda Arntzen of Custer, Mrs. Edith Spalding, Mrs. Flora Evans and Mrs. Ione Stevenson, all of Seattle; three step-daughters, Mrs. Hazel Parker of Richmond, Calif., and Mrs. Katherine Larson and Mrs. Irene Colley, both of Bellingham. HATTON, Joseph Swinden, of 1460 Mitchell Ave., Blaine, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1993. He was 71. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Woodlawn Cemetery. He was born Feb. 14, 1922, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to John and Dorothy Hatton. He served in the Canadian Air Force during World War II. He married Julie Cohen on Nov. 5, 1945, in Cambridge, England. She survives him at the family home. Mr. Hatton was a member of Bricklayers Union Local No. 2, in Seattle and the Canadian Legion of White Rock, B.C. A Whatcom County resident for 43 years, he donated time and labor to various civic projects in Blaine. Other survivors include daughters Lindy Hatton of Olympia and Marion Blakeman of Virginia Beach, Va.; sons David Hatton of Ferndale, Daniel Hatton of Blaine and Joseph J. Hatton of Port Coquitlam, B.C.; sister Lydia Ebinger of Lynden; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. HATTON, Julia - County resident for 53 years. Julia (Cohen) Hatton of 1460 Mitchell Ave., Blaine, died Monday, April 28, 2003. She was 83. Mr. Hatton had resided in this community for the past 62 years, was a guard at the Bellingham Shipyard, and a member of the B.P.O. Elks No. 194 of this city. HATTON, Lee Roy, age 75, of Bellingham, passed away Thurs., Aug. 19, 1993 at Bayside Health and Rehabilitation center in Bellingham. He was born Dec. 12, 1917 in Bellingham to James and Georgia King Hatton, who were a Whatcom County pioneer family that homesteaded in the Welcome and Deming areas. Mr. Hatton had been a lifetime Whatcom County resident. He was a veteran of WWII and belonged to the AM Vets. Mr. Hatton had been a logger and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. He is survived by his sister, Wanda and husband Emmett Goodwin of Bremerton and several nieces and nephews. At Mr. Hatton's request, there will be no services. Final resting place will be Greenacres Memorial Park.

HATTON, Rose E., age 81, of 3039 Peabody Street, passed away in a local hospital Monday, Aug. 15, (1955). Mrs. Hatton had resided in this community for the past 60 years, and for the past few years had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Beulah E. Hoff. Surviving, other than Mrs. Hoff, is one other daughter, Mrs. Dorothy G. Starry of Bellingham; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, also numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted from the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth by the Rev. Clarence J. Forsberg, Wednesday, Aug. 17, at 10:30 a.m. Final resting place Woodlawn.

HATTON, Webb - Aged 51 years, Webb Hatton, 2409 Kulshan street, died in a Seattle hospital Saturday (March 4, 1939) after a long illness. He had lived here forty-eight years and belonged to the Eagles lodge. Surviving is the widow, Nellie; one son, Donald; two daughters, Virginia and Patricia, city; five brothers, John A., of Jessica, B. C.; James F., of Birch Bay; William T., of Duvall; Manley, city, and Lee, of Deming; two sisters, Mrs. Fred C. Bailey, city, and Mrs. Pearl K. Gillaland, of Spokane. Funeral services will be conducted at the Harlow-Hollingsworth funeral home Tuesday at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Isaac Ward officiating. Cremation.

HATVEDT, Clara, age 83 of 308 W. Champion, passed away Fri. Jan. 9, (1981). Mrs. Hatvedt had been a resident of Bellingham & Whatcom County for the past 58 years. She was a retired principal & teacher of the Harmony, Greenwood & Mt. Baker School Districts. She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, a member of the National & Washington State Retired Teachers Assoc., the AlCW Alter Society, American Legion & 40 & 8 Auxiliary. She was a graduate of Western Washington University (Normal School). She leaves to survive 6 sisters, Alys P. Jones of Washington, D.C., Margaret Winters of Sun City, Arizona, Selma Wales and Helen McCollum, both of Everett, Agnes Caldwell and Florence Johns, both of Seattle; numerous nieces & nephews. Graveside services will be conducted Monday, January 12 at 1 p.m. at Stanwood Cemetery, Standwood, WA. Arrangements by Westford Funeral Home.

HATVEDT, Robert A., age 69, of 2808 Williams St., passed away at home Tuesday, Feb. 24, (1959). Mr. Hatvedt had resided in this community for the past 38 years; was a retired shipping clerk and buyer for the Lee grocery; was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church; a member of Whatcom Lodge No. 151, F.&A.M.; a member of Maple Leaf Chapter No. 58, O.E.S.; a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 194; was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Albert J. Hamilton Post No. 7, American Legion. Survivors are his widow, Clara, at home; one brother, Ludwig, of Stanwood; niece, Mrs. Vernita Branastrom, of Stanwood; nephew, Alvin Hatvedt, of Port Angeles. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by pastor Don Taylor, Friday, Feb. 27, at 10 a.m. Final resting place Anderson Cemetery at Stanwood.

HATZEL, Mary B. died Saturday, January 23, 1999, at her Ferndale home with her family with her. Born Mary Walsh on November 23, 1906 in County Limerick, Ireland to Patrick and Mary Walsh. She arrived in the United States, Ellis Island on November 23, 1924, on her eighteenth birthday. She was preceded in death by her husband William in 1980; grandson Billy Hatzell in 1991; granddaughter Kath Vitello in1995; and great-granddaughter Kimberly Orta in 1998. She is survived by daughter Kathryn Vitello of Olean, NY; sons William Hatzell Jr. and wife Sonra, Michael P. Hatzel and wife Diane; daughters Mary Berg and Jane McIntosh, all of Ferndale; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren. Grandma will be missed by all of us. She loved her grandchildren, her flowers, her animals and playing cards. As we cry for you, we know that you are with the angels in a happy place. We will miss your soft and gentle ways, and the sweet little smile that we all knew was waiting for us when we came to see you. You were the true meaning of a "grandma" to us all. A Graveside Service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 1999 at Woodlawn Cemetery. Deacon George Ficken officiating. Arrangements by Moles Funeral Home.

HATZEL, William E., age 82 of 1752 Newkirk Road, Ferndale passed away Thurs., April 3, 1980. Mr. Hatzel came to Ferndale in 1954 from Olean, NY, was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Ferndale, the Kulshan Post, American Legion, was a WWI Army Veteran and had worked as a machinist for 42 years at the Mobil Refinery. He is survived by his wife Mary, 2 sons William E. Hatzell, Jr of Ferndale, Michael P. Hatzel of Bellingham, 3 daughters Katherine Vittello of Olean, Mary Berg of Ferndale, Jane Filion of Ferndale, 12 grandchildren. Vigil services will be held in Moles Funeral Home, Sun., April 6 at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be offered by Rev. Phillip Bloom Mon., April 7 at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Ferndale. Military honors at Woodlawn Cemetery.

HATZELL, William Edward "Billy" III, age 23 of 2246 Thornton Road, Ferndale passed away due to auto accident on Sunday, Dec. 1, 1991. He was born on November 19, 1968 in Bellingham, WA to William E. Hatzell, Jr. and Sondra of Ferndale. Billy was a lifetime resident of Ferndale; was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Ferndale and was a member of the 1987 Class at Ferndale High School. He was currently employed at the Bellingham Cold Storage. Surviving him besides his parents is a brother Joseph Hatzell and Sondi of Tulsa, OK, a sister Kelli Hatzell of Ferndale; grandmother Mamie Hatzell of Ferndale; nephews Joshua and Jordan Hatzell of Tulsa and numerous aunts, uncles and other relatives. Vigil Services will be Wednesday, December 4, 8:00 p.m. at Moles Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside Services will be Thursday, December 5, 10:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery with Deacon George Ficken officiating. Arrangements by Moles Funeral Home.
