HARSCH, Edward A., age 72, of Route 1, Custer, passed away in a local hospital Thursday, June 7, (1962) following a short illness. A retired farmer, he had been a resident of Whatcom County since 1953. He was a veteran of World War I, having served with the U.S. Army and was a member of the William Lee Alexander Post No. 3685 V.F.W. of Laurel and the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bellingham. Surviving are his wife, Lillie at home; one son, Loren of Lynden; two daughters, Miss Ruth Harsch of Longview and Mrs. Lelia Werkmeister of Seattle; two brothers, Fred in Missouri, and Joe in Nebraska; one sister, Mrs. Rose Denney in Nebraska, also five granddaughters. Funeral services will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bellingham, Monday, June 11, at 2 p.m., Rev. Carl O. Fischer officiating. Arrangements by the Gillies Funeral Home of Lynden.

HARSHMAN, Agnes Campbell, age 69, East Sound, Wn., passed away Monday, January 17, (1966). Mrs. Harshman was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Jean Robinson and Mrs. Eleanor Wernecke, both of Seattle. Private services were conducted today, January 18 at the Jones Funeral Home, followed by cremation.

HARSHMAN, Henry Daniel, age 61, of 1314 D Street, passed away at the family home Saturday morning, August 20, (1949) following a lingering illness. Mr. Harshman had been a resident of Bellingham for the past six years. He was a retired farmer, coming to Bellingham from Foreston, Minn. Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Agnes Harshman; one son, Clifford H., of Bellingham; two grandchildren, Jerome and Tamora Harshman, both of Bellingham; two brothers, Leon and Reuben, both of Eckelson, N.D.; four sisters, Mrs. Stella Sayre, of Santa Barbara, Calif., Mrs. Cleo Wilson of Redlands, Calif., Miss Edna Harshman, of Moorehead, Minn., and Mrs. Delores Franklin, of Eckelson, N.D.; also many others. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 24, at 10 a.m. (DST) within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home with the Rev. Gordon W. Loren, pastor of the First Lutheran Church officiating. Interment in Greenacres.

HARSHMAN, Sadie, age 83 of 1208 Girard, passed away in a local hospital Sunday, April 19, (1959). She was a member of the Maple Leaf Chapter O.E.S. She is survived by two nieces, Mrs. Marie Walt of Emporia, Kan., and Mrs. Opal Epting of Burlington, Kan.; one nephew, John Horr of Wellsville, Kan. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 24, at 2 o'clock from the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold K. Lawrence, pastor of the St. James Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment Bay View.

HART, Aletha S. - Funeral services for Mrs. Aletha S. Hart, age 55, who died at her home on Saturday, September 4, (1982) were conducted on Tuesday, September 7, at 10:30 a.m. in the Grace Baptist Tabernacle with Rev. Mark Wagner officiating. Burial followed in Lakeside Cemetery. Mrs. Hart, of 4508 Minaker Road, Sumas, was born in Longview, Washington and moved to Whatcom County in 1936. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Tabernacle and was married to her husband Ivan in Bellingham on April 21, 1950. She is survived by her husband Ivan; a son, Charles at home; her father, James Hicks of Lynden; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Vernie Hart of Freemont, Missouri; two brothers, James Hicks of Bellingham and Dale and wife Karen Hicks of Lynden; two sisters, Mrs. Voleene and husband Marion Brooks of Bellingham and Mrs. Sandra and husband Bruce Haaland of Everson and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded by her mother, Mrs. Olive Hicks on August 22. Funeral services were under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden.

HART, Beulah M. (Gullette), age 85, of Bellingham, WA, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 1994. Born March 9, 1909 in Bellingham to John and Dora (Hansen) Arntzen, she was a lifetime resident of Whatcom County; graduated from Blaine High School; member of Culinary Workers Union, Seattle; employed as a waitress for many, many years. Preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Hart, March 1992; sister, Hester Haugen, and two grandsons. Survived by five children, Dorothy Babcock of Coos Bay, Oregon, Opal and husband Arne Hanna of Bellingham; Wayne and wife Myrna Gullette of Powell River, BC; Alvin and wife Myrna Gullette of Lake Stevens, WA; Charles Gullette of Bellingham; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brother, Harold Arntzen of Blaine, WA; sister, June Grinton of Coupeville, WA; numerous nieces and nephews. HART, Benjamin Robert, 3, 2119 Donovan Ave., died Aug. 15, (1987) in Morelia, Mexico from injuries sustained in a hit-and-run automobile accident. He was with his family visiting friends at the time of his death. Born March 15, 1984 in Yakima, Hart later moved with his family to Bellingham. He was buried Aug. 22 during a graveside service at Tahoma Cemetery in Yakima. Survivors include his mother, Barbara Hart of the family home; a twin sister, Carolyn Hart, and sisters Katharine and Christa Hart, all of the family home; and his father, Clifford Hart of Forks, grandparents, Ken and Marti Ward of Yakima, Kathy Ward of Portland, Ore., and Bob and Melba Hart of Ellensburg. Arrangements were by a Yakima Funeral Home.

HART, Dennis Rupert, age 33, of 1422 Hannegan Road, passed away in a local hospital following a pole line accident Thursday, February 27, (1947). Mr. Hart had resided in this community for the past year and was a lineman for the Puget Sound Power & Light Co. Deceased was a veteran of World War II and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local No. 77. Surviving relatives are the widow, Laura R.; one daughter, Merrilly and one son, Dennis R., all at home; mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Hart and one brother, Aubrey B., all of North Bend, Wash., and one sister, Mrs. Pauline Stesel, of Seattle. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. Theo. Van Dyck, of Seattle, Saturday, March 1, at 1 p.m. Final resting place, Washelli Memorial Park, Seattle.

HART, Gertrude M., age 65 of Glacier, passed away Friday, September 24, (1971). Mrs. Hart had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past 25 years. She leaves to survive: 1 son, Don Markwell of Kent; 2 daughters, Mrs. Lois Stromme of city and Mrs. Willadine Armstrong of Quinault, Wash.; 7 grandchildren; 1 brother, Donald McKay of Ocean Park, Wash. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Westford Funeral Home.

HART, Ida B. - Funeral services for Ida B. Hart, 60, 1721 35th St., will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Veroske's Funeral Home. She died Monday (Dec. 10, 1973). Burial will be in Bay View Cemetery.

HART, Irene Marie - Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Irene Marie Hart, 88, of 360 D Street, Blaine, at 1:30 p.m. on Monday at the Jerns McKinney Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at the Blaine Cemetery. Father Jack Buckalew will officiate. Mrs. Hart died Friday (March 2, 1990). Born May 19, 1901 in Chicago, Ill., she was a member of the Catholic Church. She is survived by her sister, Joan A. McDermott of Vancouver, B.C. Arrangements by Jerns & LeVeck Funeral Chapel and Crematorium.

HART, Ivan - Funeral services for Mr. Ivan Hart, age 60, who died suddenly in Lynden on Thursday, Sept. 19, (1985) were conducted on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 2 p.m. in the Grace Baptist Tabernacle, with Rev. Mark Wagner officiating. Burial followed in Lakeside Cemetery. Mr. Hart, of 4508 Minaker Rd., Sumas, was born in Van Buren, Missouri, on March 6, 1925, and came to Whatcom County in the early 1940's. He had attended Grace Baptist Tabernacle and was an avid guitarist, having performed numerous time in the Darrington Bluegrass Festival. He was married to his wife, Althea, in Bellingham on April 21, 1950; Mrs. Hart died in 1982. He is survived by a son, Chuck, of Sumas; a sister, Mrs. Ilene and husband Lloyd Jones of Ft. Collins, Colo.; a brother, Verbal Hart, in Arkansas; his step-mother, Mrs. Vern Hart, of Freemont, Missouri; his father-in-law, Jim Hicks, of Lynden; and numerous other relatives. Funeral services were under the direction of Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden.

HART, Julia P., age 88 years, of Rt. No. 2, Ferndale, passed away Monday, June 6, (1960) in a local hospital. Miss Hart had been a resident of the Custer Community for the past 30 years. HART, Loleta, age 85, died June 20, (1988) in Woodinville, WA. Born in Everson, EA, August 17, 1902. HART, Louie, age 65, of 1712 E. Maplewood, passed away Tues., March 31, 1992 in Bellingham. He was born July 4, 1926 in Chicago, IL to Lewis and Ruby (Walker) Hart. Mr. Hart was a disabled Korean Veteran, serving in the U.S. Coast Guard and has been a resident of Whatcom County for 3 years. Louie was a retired longshoreman and warehouseman. He is survived by his wife Beulah; step-daughters, Dorothy and husband Elmo Babcock of Coos Bay, OR, Opal and husband Arne Hanna of Bellingham; stepsons, Alvin and wife Merna Guillette of Snohomish, Wayne and wife Merna Guillette of Vancouver Island, B.C., Charles Guilette of Bellingham; 1 brother Larry Hart of Illinois; stepmother Marie Hart of Illinois. Louie will be greatly missed by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be held Tues. HART, Marguerite J., age 85 of Bellingham, died in a local health care facility on Monday, May 9, (2005). A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Dave Mulholland on Friday, May 13, at 12:10 p.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bellingham. A graveside service will follow in Greenwood Cemetery on East Wiser Lake Road at 1:15 p.m. Marguerite was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on January 22, 1920 and was raised in Spokane. For many years she was employed as a clerk for the U.S. Army in the Panama Canal Zone and moved to Bellingham in 1999. A member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, she was preceded in death by a son Michael Hart and is survived by daughter Linda Gill and husband John Dziedzic of Bellingham; granddaughter Michelle Cavalier and great-grandchildren Jordan and Morgan Cavalier. Services are under the care of Gillies Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Lynden.

HART, Matilda, age 63 years, of Lynden, passed away, Sunday, September 14, (1947) following a long illness. She is survived by one son, Howard G. of Lynden; one sister, Mrs. August Kuipers, of Van Zandt; three brothers, Charles DeJong, of Beverly Hills, California, Douwe, of Sumas, and Joe, of Lynden. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, September 17, at 2 p.m. from the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden, with the Rev. J. F. Schuurmann officiating. Interment in Monumenta Cemetery.

HART, Myrtle M. of Bellingham died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 1994, at Bellingham Care Center. She was 92. She was born March 19, 1902, to Joseph and Kate Cashner Strobert in Castle Garden, Pa. She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Hart, on Jan. 30, 1991. Survivors include daughter Betty Jane Bond of Bellingham, two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Her ashes will be placed in New York.

Hart, age 79, of 2817 Russell St., age 79, of 2817 Russell St. Mr. Hart passed away Thurs. March 18, 1982. He is survived by his wife Inez C. of City; 1 son, Jack K. Hart of Kent; 1 daughter, Mrs. Kay Livsey of Tukwila; 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Mr. Hart had been a Bellingham resident for the past 39 years, was a member of Bellingham Bay Lodge No. 44 F & AM and a retired electrical lineman employed by Puget Sound Power & Light Co. HART, Walter S., age 83 of Rt. 2, Ferndale passed away Saturday, December 1, (1956) in a local hospital following a lingering illness. He had been a resident of Ferndale for the past 25 years. Surviving relatives include his sister, Miss Julia Hart of Rt. 2, Ferndale. Private services will be held at the Monroe Funeral Home Tuesday, December 4 at 1 p.m. with Mrs. Bertha Broyles officiating, followed by cremation.

HART, William J. - At his family's request, no funeral will be held for William J. Hart, 96, who died Wednesday at Needham's Nursing Home. He was born March 25, 1894, in Binghamton, N.Y., and lived there most of his life. He was married to the former Myrtle Strobert. They moved to Bellingham last year. Mr. Hart was a retired boilermaker, and a life member of the Elks Lodge in Binghamton. Survivors include his wife, of the family home; and a stepdaughter, Jane Bond of Bellingham. His ashes will be interred in Binghamton. Arrangements are by Whatcom Cremation Association.

HARTELROAD, Ida R. - Funeral services for Ida R. Hartelroad, age 79 of 2816 Lynn St., will be Wed., Aug. 5 at 1 p.m. at Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel. Interment Greenacres Memorial Park. Mrs. Hartelroad passed away Aug. 2, 1987. HARTELROAD, John M., 20430 12th Ave. S., Seattle, age 30, passed away in Tacoma Saturday, July 30, (1966). Mr. Hartelroad was a lifetime resident of this community before moving to Seattle a month ago, and was employed by Albertson's. He attended the Garden Street Methodist Church, and was a member of Retail Clerks International Ass'n. No. 240. Survivors are his widow, Crystal; two sons, Lawton and Michael, both at home; parents, Mrs. and Mrs. John Hartelroad, City; four sisters, Mrs. Lee Carpenter, Alger; Mrs. Brad Bishop, Moses Lake, Wn.; Mrs. Bruce Gillespie, Oxnard, Calif., and Mrs. Donald Lorenz of Ferndale. Services will be conducted by Rev. Donovan McVickers Wednesday, Aug. 3 at 1:00 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park.

HARTELROAD, Lawrence, a long-time resident of Whatcom County, died today (Feb. 15, 1984) at the age of 89. He had lived at 1530 James St. He was born Oct. 21, 1894, in Hill City, Kan., and was a local resident for 81 years. He was a veteran of World War I and was a retired laborer. He is survived by a son, two daughters, a brother and sister and numerous nieces and nephews. At his request there will be no funeral services. Westford Funeral Home is in charge of cremation arrangements.

HARTELROAD, William C. "Bill" age 93, lifetime resident of Whatcom Co., died June 26, 1997 at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born May 11, 1904 in Hill City, Kansas to Michael and Carrie (Cummins) Hartelroad. He married Mildred Sheerer Feb. 5, 1929 in Mt. Vernon, WA. Bill worked 13 yrs. as a baker in Bellingham, a log scalier in California, 8 1/2 yrs., a service station owner in Bellingham 10 yrs., and a security guard in Bellingham 7 yrs. He was past Master of the Marietta Grange and enjoyed bowling. Survived by his wife, Mildred Hartelroad of Bellingham; nephews, Robert Bell of Selah, WA, Larry Ploghoft of Chehalis, WA, Harry Bussanich of Bellingham; nieces, Janice Carpenter of Blaine, Joyce Lorenz of Ferndale, Mary Lee Gillespie of California and Karen Levin of Everett. At his request, no services will be held. Arrangements by Westford Funeral Home.

HARTER, Chester, age 78, of Route No. 1, Custer, died in a Bellingham nursing home Saturday, June 19, (1971). Mr. Harter was born April 10, 1893 and was a retired carpenter. Survivors include one son, Earl of Maryland; one sister, Mrs. Kathryn Rudy of Custer and several nieces and nephews. Cremation followed with private burial services in the Lynden Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Gillies Funeral Home.

HARTER, Martin, age 75 of Route 1, Custer, passed away in a Blaine rest home Sunday, September 6, (1964). A lifetime resident of Custer, he was a retired farmer and had served with the U.S. Army during WWI. He was a member of the Peace Arch Post, American Legion, Blaine. Surviving are 2 sisters, Mrs. Kathryn Rudy of Custer and Mrs. Louise Getchell of Blaine; 1 brother, Chester of Bellingham; also, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden, Wednesday, September 9, at 1:30 p.m. with burial to follow in the Lynden Cemetery.

HARTER, Myron "Mike" of 202 N. 34th St. died Monday, April 4, 1994, at Veterans Hospital in Seattle. He was 73. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Community Baptist Church with the Rev. Neil Thompson officiating. Mr. Harter was born March 22, 1921, to Frank and Zola Harter in Des Moines, Iowa. When he was 6, the family moved to Long Beach, Calif., where he grew up. He served in the U.S. Army for 6 1/2 years and was in the German theater during World War II. After the Army, Mr. Harter moved to Indianapolis, where he married Mary Scotten in 1948. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to California, where they lived until September 1991, when they moved to Bellingham to be close to family. Mr. Harter was a crane operator until poor health forced his retirement in 1976. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his wife of the family home; daughter Victoria Hoke of Bellingham; two brothers and two sisters, all of California; and two grandchildren.

HARTFORD, Helen, a long-time resident of the Bellingham area, including Gooseberry Point, and Lummi Island, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2006 in Anacortes, WA. Helen was 92, born on July 8, 1914 to Harry and Fern (Cook) Schulz in Oak Mills, NE. Helen was a member of St. James Presbyterian Church. Helen and her husband Robert were associated with Pacific Coast Paper Mills, later to become part of Georgia Pacific Corporation. She was active in clubs and volunteer organizations in Bellingham and enjoyed many friends in Whatcom County. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert and sister Mildred Robertson and is survived by her 5 children: Judith L Hartford, Robert H Hartford, Lawrence R Hartford, David C Hartford and Deborah J Hartford; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sister Jean Lindville; 3 nieces and nephews. Her friends are invited to join her family at a public visitation on Monday, November 6, 2006 at Moles Funeral Home - Bayview Chapel, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. at Lummi Island Community Church Cemetery. HARTFORD, Virginia Anne "Virgie" age 50, of 123 So. Willow, Pierre, So. Dakota, passed away Oct. 15, (1991) in Pierre. She was born may 17, 1941 in Bellingham; was a 1959 graduate of Bellingham High School; attended WSU majoring in interior design. Virgie owned her own tax service in Pierre and Chamberlain, S.D. from 1971-1974; in 1974 joined Kocker Furniture as their interior designer. She was a member of Lutheran Memorial Church; charter member of the Board of Directors of capital University; president of Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce in 1982 and was involved in many church, community, and school activities. She loved flowers, crafts, decorating, and sailing. In 1981 she was appointed to the Commission on Salaries for Elected Officials; in 1986 appointed to the State Capital Beautification Commission by then Gov. William Janklow and reappointed by present Gov. George Mickelson; co-chaired Gov. Mickelson's First Inaugural Ball. Survived by her husband, Robert Hartford of Pierre; daughters, Kristine Anne & husband Jeff Westall of Edina, MN, Kate Marie Hartford, Black Hills State College, Spearfish, S.D.; son, Dr. Joseph Robert Hartford of Rapid City, So. HARTLEY, Lesley Lee - A reception for family and friends of former store co-owner L. Lee Hartley, 57, will be 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Olde Mariner, 1324 Cornwall Ave., Bellingham. Private services also will be held at another time. Hartley, of 1213 Whatcom St., No. 60, died Monday (June 24, 1991) at her home. She was born to Benjamin F. Miller and Marion Femley Miller on Sept. 11, 1933, in New York City. She moved to Bellingham in 1982 from Oregon. Mrs. Hartley was co-owner of the Olde Mariner clothing shop in Bellingham and at Resort Semiahmoo. She graduated from Whitman College in 1955. She married Ronald C. Hartley on Dec. 4, 1972, in Lake Oswego, Ore. He survives her. Together they established Weathercock Industries Inc., manufacturing fireplace equipment in Eugene, Ore. They later operated the two Olde Mariner shops and Bellingham Bay Bait and Tackle shop in Bellingham. All of Mrs. Hartley's children worked in the business at one time or another, and she considered other people she got to know through her work to be members of her family. Aside from her husband, other survivors include her mother, Marion Miller of Seattle; a son, John Wilkerson of Seattle; a step-son, John Hartley of Eugene; two daughters, Sue Rounds of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mary Burroughs of Seattle; a step-daughter, Kathleen Hartley of Portland; six grandchildren (Charles, Cody, Becca, Max, Andrea, and Vanessa); and a brother, John Miller of Point Roberts. Arrangements are by Westford Funeral Home.

HARTLEY, Lydia G., 70, Bellingham resident for the past 2 years, died Mon. July 13, (1981). She was born in W. Virginia in 1911, came to Skagit Co. with her parents & resided in Clear Lake. HARTLEY, Margaret J. "Jane", loving Mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2007, at Shuksan Healthcare. She was born in Seattle on October 12, 1916, and would have turned 91 next month. Jane moved to Bellingham in 1996 after the death of her husband of 57 years Byron V. Hartley. Jane worked for many years at the Haller Lake grocery in Seattle and was a loving mother, wife, and had many wonderful friends throughout her life. Jane is survived by her daughter Helen Litton; granddaughter Tara (Mark) Wright, four great-grandchildren; grandson Bryan (Cara) Messick; step-grandson Troy Messick, step-great-granddaughter; and step-granddaughter Kristine Messick. Always a flower in her hair, a smile on her face. Jane lived her life with amazing love, compassion and grace. She will be deeply missed by all and always in our hearts. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the wonderful staff at Shuksan Healthcare who embraced Jane and her family for the past four years with love, joyful days and for the excellent care and concern. HARTLEY, Marvin D., age 9, of 1425 Grant St., passed away at the family home Saturday, October 24, (1958). He had resided in this community for the past two years, was a student in the fourth grade at Franklin school, was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, was the assistant denner of den 4-pack 20 Cub Scouts, B.S.A. Bellingham, member of YMCA and played baseball with the Peewee league in 1953. Surviving relatives include his father; Joe Hartley of Tonasket; mother, Mrs. Joyce Johnson of Bellingham; two brothers, Raymond and John at home; three sisters, Ann at home and Judith and Catherine of Tonasket; grandmothers, Mrs. Laura Nelson of Okanogan, and Mrs. Blanche Mowe of Republic, Wash.; grandfather, Mark Mitchell of Oroville, Wash. HARTMAN, Alan C. - Visitation for Alan C. Hartman of Bellingham will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Greenacres Funeral Home in Ferndale. Burial services with military honors will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Greenacres Memorial Park, with Chaplain Otto Zylstra officiating. Mr. Hartman died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham. He was 69. Born Aug. 12, 1930, to Calmer and Elizabeth Hartman in Bellingham, he was a lifelong Whatcom County resident. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1968. On Jan. 10, 1982, he married Barbara Solomon in Reno, Nev. Mr. Hartman was employed at Intalco Aluminum Corp. for nearly 30 years. He retired in 1996 and enjoyed traveling and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Barbara, of Bellingham adopted children Scott Lee of Bowling Green, Fla., and Maxine Maloney of Jacksonville, Fla. half-brother Howard Huntley of Bremerton stepsister, Betty Ann Rickenbacker of Lynden, stepmother Mabel Hartman of Blaine; stepchildren Marina Plaster, Buddy Solomon, Felix Solomon, Kimberly Lewis, Karla Solomon and Darla Point, all of Lummi Reservation 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

HARTMAN, Artimisia M. - Mrs. Artie M. Hartman, age 79, of 1911 James, passed away at the family home, Monday, Sept. 1, (1958) following an extended illness. Mrs. Hartman had resided in Bellingham for the past 52 years and was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America. She leaves to survive one son, Raymond Hartman of Seattle; one daughter, Mrs. Charles Schilling of Seattle; one sister, Mrs. Reno Eihle; one brother, Thomas Andrus, both of Allegan, Mich. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Sept. 4, at 3:30 p.m. from the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with Rev. Robert W. Webb officiating. Interment Greenacres.

HARTMAN, Clara C., age 52, who resided at 24324 7th Ave. West Bothell, passed away in an Everett Hospital Thursday, Aug. 21, (1958) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Hartman was a former resident of Bellingham and a member of the Pentecostal Faith. HARTMAN, Ethel Estella, age 81, of 2101 New St. passed away in a local hospital Friday, Dec. 21, (1962). Mrs. Hartman had been a life resident of this community; was a retired teacher and former principal of the Geneva School, and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was a member of the National, State and County Retired Teachers Associations; a member of the National Republican Women's Ass'n., and a member of the Territorial Daughters of Washington, and leaves to survive two daughters, Mrs. Laurier Hutchings of Hoquiam and Mrs. Gwen Teal of Seattle, also six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. HARTMAN, Joseph F., age 74 years, passed away at the family home, 1911 James Street, Thursday evening, January 3, 1946. Mr. Hartman had been a resident of this community for the past forty-two years. He owned a blacksmith shop in the city for a number of years and also was employed by the Bellingham Water department for twelve years. HARTMAN, Rondell M., age 42, of 2627 Iron St., drowned while fishing in Boundary Bay, Friday, Sept. 12, (1952). A resident of Bellingham for the past 50 years, Mr. Hartman was a retired marine engineer. HARTNELL, John A., "Al" 72, of 308 West Champion St., died Nov. 13, 1991, in Bellingham. He was born on March 31, 1919, in Bellingham to John and Viola Hartnell. He attended school in Bellingham and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Hartnell was employed at "The Turf" in Everett from 1954 to 1965, and was a casino card dealer in Las Vegas, Nev., from 1968 to 1980. He returned to Bellingham in 1981 following his retirement. He was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Survivors include his sons, Randy Hartnell and Terry Hartnell, both of Bellingham; daughters Shari Hartnell of Bellingham and Alinda Ruhle of Anchorage, Alaska; his brother Calvin Hartnell of Gresham, Ore.; five grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. HARTRY, George R., age 56 of 5650 Deer Creek Dr., Ferndale, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 15, (1974). Mr. Hartry had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past 34 years, retired from the U.S. Army, veteran of WWI, Korean War and Vietnam War. He leaves to survive his wife, Mary E.; 2 sons, Timothy and Daniel all of the family home; 1 daughter, Mrs. Georgia Ann Genevase of Portland; 1 granddaughter; 2 brothers, Harry of Gladewater, Tex. and Clifford of Illinois. Private family services were held Wednesday, Oct. 16, followed by cremation under the direction of the Westford Funeral Home.

HARTRY, Mary Ellen of Portland, Ore., died Tuesday, May 4, 1993, in Portland. She was 72. At her request, no services will be held. Burial will be at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale. Born Feb. 21, 1921, in Conrad, Mont., to Anne and Leo Foltz, she married George R. Hartry. They traveled together for many years while he was in the Army. He preceded her in death. A resident of Bellingham for more than 40 years, she was a member of Assumption Catholic Church. She is survived by daughter Jackie Genevase of Portland, Ore.; sons Tim Hartry of Kotzebue, Alaska, and Dan Hartry of Seattle; brother Rich Foltz of Bellevue; granddaughter Jeannie Presley of Portland; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

HARTUNG, Lester E., age 66, of 1158 W. Axton Rd., Ferndale, passed away Sat., Feb. 14, 1987 in Bellingham. Born Aug. 28, 1920 in Dexter, Minn., he had been a resident of Whatcom County since 1947, was a member of the Bethany Baptist Fellowship, a veteran of World War II, decorated with the Purple Heart, a dairy farmer and had been a school bus driver for Ferndale School District over 30 years. Married to May Lagasse Hartung Aug. 12, 1945. Survived by his wife, May Hartung of the family home; 2 sons, Rocky and wife Arlene Hartung of Ferndale, Leslie and wife Joan Hartung of Sacramento, Calif; 1 daughter, Judy Bell of Bellingham; 1 brother, Harold Hartung of Granada, Minn.; 2 sisters, Marie Titus of Sherburn, Minn. and Hazel Reeder of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 10 grandchildren, Stephen, Jason, Petra Hartung Jonathan, Steven, Daniel and Kenneth Bell, Merideth, Katheryne, Thomas Hartung. HARTWIG, Douglas Wade, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hartwig of Route 2, Everson, passed away in a Bellingham hospital Monday, March 9, (1959) several hours after birth. Surviving besides his parents are one sister, Debra; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Ford and his great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Deeter, all of Sumas. HARTZEL, Elin Engholm - Funeral services for Elin Engholm Hartzel, age 71, of 1891 Valley Hwy. No. 9, Acme, were held Monday, Jan. 28, 1985 at 1 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Lawrence Guderian officiating. Interment Saxon Cemetery. Mrs. Hartzell passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 1985. She was a Whatcom County resident for the past eight years. She is survived by one daughter, Candy and husband Gene Roberts; two sisters, Marie and husband Russell Norris, and Clara and husband Arnold Donahue, all of Acme; seven brothers, Carl and wife Lorraine Engholm of Seattle, Pete and wife Ruth Engholm of Sedro Woolley, John and Evelyn Engholm of Bellingham; Vic and wife Janette Engholm of Deming, George and wife Dell Engholm of Acme, Robert Engholm of Rock Island, Illinois; Paul and wife Jean Engholm of Acme, and numerous nieces and nephews. HARTZELL, Herbert J., age 65 a long time resident of Tacoma, passed away Thursday April 21, 1988. He is survived by his only son, Brian Hartzell and wife Alanna and their son Griffin, all of Bellingham. Services will be Wednesday April 27, 1988 at Mountain View Cemetery in Tacoma.

HARVEY, Agnes, age 90, passed away at home on May 13, 2004 in Lynden. She was born on September 12, 1913 on the family homestead in Tonasket, WA to Thomas and Amy Thurza Haggith. In 1922 the family moved to Whatcom County where Agnes graduated from Harmony High in 1931. On March 29, 1934 she married Frank M. Harvey. Prior to his death February 16, 2004 they lived in "Harveyville" together for 70 years on their mini farm raising chickens, milk cows, beef cattle, pigs, fruit and vegetables. They also enjoyed raising their two daughters and helping with eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grand-son. In addition to the work on the home place, Agnes worked at the Hannegan Pass logging cook shack, Kale and Lynden canneries, Van Zandt Nursery and last few years at the Bellingham Hallmark Store. She enjoyed many camping, fishing and hunting trips with her family and friends. Her and Frank also took a trip on the QE2 to England and had many other exciting travel adventures together. In addition to her daughters and their husbands: Bob and Betty Gilmore and Frances and Mel Turner, she is survived by her brothers and wives: Bill & Evelyn and Alfred and Julie Haggith; and sister-in-law Kaye Haggith. She was preceded in death by two brothers Thomas and George Haggith and two sisters Jane Meyer and Hester Story. A graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, 5977 Northwest Road at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2004.

HARVEY, Agnes B., died Monday, Dec. 20, 1993, at St. Francis extended Health Care after a long illness. She was 68. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Darrington Cemetery. Born March 18, 1925, in Darrington to William and Rachel Tollner Beebe, she lived in Whatcom County since 1983. Mrs. Harvey enjoyed needlework and cooking. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Harvey, in 1970. Survivors include daughters Pat Bowers of Illinois, Dotty Peters of Tacoma, Lisa Moberg of Puyallup, Billie Diane Feil of Tacoma, Carol Hesselgrave of Bellingham, Judy Rae Harvey of Las Vegas, Eleatha Jerrad of Newport, Margo Johnson of Spokane and Ann Cowin of Leavenworth; sons Kenneth Harvey of Bellingham, John Williams of Castle Rock and Robert Harvey of Fort Collins, Colo.; 38 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. HARVEY, Alison Nicole - Funeral services for Alison Nicole Harvey, age 20 months, daughter of Dave and Sandi Harvey, 130 3rd Street, Sumas, were conducted on Monday, May 18, at 11 a.m. in Lakeside Cemetery with Rev. Alison, who died in a Seattle hospital on Wednesday, May 13, (1981) following a near drowning accident on Saturday, May 9, is also survived by a sister, Erica Ann; her grandparents, Clarence Harvey of Lynden, Doreen Harvey of Sumas and Terry Tereposky of Kamloops, B.C.; her great-grandparents, Joe Price of Elk Point, Alberta, and Victoria Price of Abbotsford, B.C. and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. HARVEY, Alvina Allie, age 67, of 1508 I St., passed away in a local hospital, Thursday, April 28, (1960). Mrs. Harvey had resided in Bellingham for the past 48 years and was a member of the Lutheran Church. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Ory Burntenshaw and one son, Leo Knutson, both of Bellingham; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Scott of Conway and Mrs. Freda Blake of Seattle; three brothers, Ed Hirschkorn of Retsil, Lawrence Hirschkorn of Sedro Woolley and Fred Hirschkorn of Bellingham; numerous nieces and nephews. HARVEY, Clarence - Graveside funeral services for Mr. Clarence Harvey, age 67, of 2686 Pangborn Road, Lynden, were conducted on Thursday, October 27 at 2:00 p.m. in Lake Side Cemetery with Rev. John Leaf officiating. Mr. Harvey, who died at his home on Monday, October 24, (1983), was born in Harrison, Nebraska on July 18, 1916, and moved to Whatcom County from Idaho in 1950. A retired auto-mechanic, Mr. Harvey is survived by four sons, Larry and wife Lola, Donald and wife Joyce, Roy and wife Katherine and Dave and wife Sandi, all of Sumas; four daughters, Mrs. Linda and husband Bernie VanDiest of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Darlene and husband Pat Tuttle of Ferndale, Karen Sue Harvey of Mt. Vernon and Kathy Harvey of Sumas; seven grandchildren; four brothers, Tom of Antelope, Oregon, Dwayne of Topeka, Kansas, Carl of Belle Fourche, South Dakota and Ebert in Maridan, Kansas; a sister, Mrs. Margie Skidmore of Topeka, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Harvey had been a resident of this community for the past 32 years; had attended the First Christian Church and was a member of Christian Women's Fellowship; St. Luke's Assistance League; Leisure Time Club; and Bellingham Rebekah Lodge No. 43. Surviving relatives include a daughter; Mrs. Mildred Hersman of Everson; three grandchildren; Mrs. Ronald Mock of Kirkland, Donald Hersman of India, Calif., and Kenneth Hersman of Everson; and a brother; William Riddel of Raymond, Wash. HARVEY, Earl T., age 64 of 2129 King Street, passed away suddenly in a local hospital Tuesday, December 15, (1964). He had been a lifetime resident of this community and was an employe of the Fisherman's Cove. He was a member of the Teamsters Union, Local 231. He is survived by his wife, Wilma; a stepson, Gene Shadle, Tacoma; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Myrna Hoffeditz of Bellingham; 6 grandchildren; 2 brothers, George of Bellingham and Clark of Mount Vernon; 1 sister, Mrs. Lillian Pullen of Spencer, Iowa, many other relatives. HARVEY, Frank, age 92, passed away quietly at home on February 16, 2004 in Lynden. He was born in Olds, Alberta, Canada on May 15, 1911 to Casper Sidney and Lilly Lucretia Harvey. The Harvey family had moved from Cherry Creek, New York to Nebraska and then on to Olds where Frank was born. The family then moved to Lynden in 1916 where Frank lived his entire life. Frank always loved the outdoors and made many camping, fishing and hunting trips. His garden and orchard were also important to him. The grand and great-grandchildren spent a lot of time on the farm with "Gmpa". He will be greatly missed by all. Frank leaves his wife of 70 years, Agnes Amy Harvey of Lynden; a brother George Harvey & wife Ida of Lynden; sister-in-law Barbra Harvey of Everson; two daughters, Betty Gilmore & husband Bob of Lynden & Francis Turner & husband Mel of Marysville; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson; also several generations of nieces and nephews. Everyone has appreciated how he generously recounted treasured recollections! A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2004 at 1:00 at the Everson Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located on the corner of Goodwin & Sorenson Roads, Everson, WA followed by a reception at the Ferndale High School Cafeteria located at 6041 Vista Drive, Ferndale, WA.

HARVEY, Frank A., 60 passed away Wednesday, June 9, (1954) at his home following a lingering illness. Mr. Harvey came to Whatcom County from Abilene, Texas, and had lived on Route 2, Lynden, for the past 11 months. He is survived by his wife, Zera, at the home; two daughters, Mrs. Rosalee Hickey, Rt. 2, Lynden, and Mrs. Leo Davis, Abilene, Tex; one son, Joe V. Harvey, of Lake Charles, La., now in Africa with the armed services; and six grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Joe R. Harvey, of Calexico, Calif., and two sisters, Mrs. Paul Harmesen and Mrs. Nell Gilbert, both of Visalia, Calif. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 12, at 2 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden, Charles Hardman officiating. Interment Woodlawn.

HARVEY, Glenn William, 78, of Lynden passed away at St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham on Sept. 29, 1993 following a short illness. Graveside services were held at Lakeside Cemetery in Lynden on Friday with Rev. Hoyt Sherwin officiating. Mr. Harvey was born in Harmatton, Alberta on Nov. 14, 1914 to Casper and Lillie (Wyatt) Harvey. He came to Whatcom County at the age of 2 and attended county schools. He was employed in the logging industry for 30 years and then spent 13 years in maintenance at Oeser's Cedar Co. until his retirement in 1977. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking and beekeeping. In Bellingham on June 21, 1939 he was married to LaDonna Ledoschuk and she survives her husband at the family home. Other survivors include Jim Harvey and wife Judy of Lynden; daughter Janet Littlefield and husband John of Lynden; two brothers, Frank Harvey and George Harvey, both of Lynden; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brother and three sisters. Services and arrangements were under the care of Gillies Funeral Home of Lynden.

HARVEY, Gordon S., 56, died June 29, (1981). He was a local resident for 40 years. He retired from the Bellingham Police Department in 1971 after 20 years on the force. He was a member of the Bellingham Police Officers Association, retired Bellingham Police Officers Association, Bellingham Elks Lodge No. 194, charter member of the Peace Arch Law Enforcement Council. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; son, Danny, Bellingham; two daughters, Dale and husband Jerry Gallanger, and Diana and husband Mike Conour, Bellingham; 5 grandchildren; brother, Carl, Clearbrook, B.C.; sister, Frances Tessaro, Bellingham; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services were held July 1 at Jones Funeral Home.

HARVEY, John W. "Bill," age 87, of Bellingham passed away on Monday, November 20, 1995 at Alderwood Park Convalescent Center. He was born September 12, 1908 in Moser, OR to Clinton and Clara (Petersen) Harvey and was a Whatcom County resident for 40 years; prior to that lived in eastern Washington, Oregon, and California. He was a member of local #40 of UA Plumbers and Pipefitters for 52 years. He was preceded in death by his wife Daphne Dale Harvey in January of 1986. Mr. Harvey is survived by 2 sons, Larry Harvey and Alice of Bellingham, Laddie Harvey and Sharon of Ferndale; seven grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren; and one sister Ellen Kircher of Soquel, CA. Lester was a member of the Laborer's Union Local 276 and the Faith Lutheran Church. HARVEY, Robert Powell - Visitation for Robert Powell Harvey will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Jones-Moles Funeral Home, followed by a vigil service at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Assumption Church. Mr. Harvey died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997, in Bellingham. He was 76. Born June 6, 1921, to Frederick and Marie Powell Harvey in Ottawa, Canada. Mr. Harvey worked in the aluminum industry for Alcan in Arvida, Quebec, and Ormet in Hannibal, Ohio, and he retired in 1983 as technical director of Intalco Aluminum Corp. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Gloria Black Harvey; sons Michael Harvey and Mark Harvey, both of Bellingham; daughters Dianne Huffman of Bellingham and Karen Trembly of Hannibal, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

HARVEY, Romaine A. of 3128 Greenwood Ave. died Sunday, April 18, 1993, at her home. She was 82. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bayview Cemetery in Bellingham. She was born Aug. 17, 1910, in Bellingham. A lifelong resident of Bellingham, she played the organ for Ebeneezer (sic) Lutheran Church for 35 years. She also enjoyed fishing and bingo. HARVEY, Russell C., 82, of 7076 Jackson Road, Blaine, died Monday (May 26, 1986) at his home. He was born Oct. 1, 1903, in Saginaw, Mich. Mr. Harvey was a resident of Whatcom County for eight years. Before that, he was a resident of Orcas Island for 22 years. Mr. Harvey lived in the Grays Harbor area before moving to the island. He was a retired, self-employed logger. Mr. Harvey's wife, Florence, died in 1947 and his son, Richard, died in 1978. Survivors include two sons, Kenneth of Franklin, N.H., and Clinton of Blaine; one daughter, Betty Creech of Blaine; two brothers; four sisters; seven grandsons; four granddaughters; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Orcas Island Community Church in Eastsound. Cremation will follow with placement of ashes in Greenacres Memorial Park. Born Irene Yvonne Woudstra on Aug. 22, 1937, to Martin and Geraldine Zwiers Woudstra in Texas, her family moved to Lynden when she was an infant. On Oct. 3, 1958, she married Curt Harvey. Mrs. Harvey was a bus driver for the Bellingham School District for 22 years. Mrs. Harvey was a charter member of Everson Christian Reformed Church. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing and her flower garden. Her sisters Marlene Woudstra and Lois Klein died previously. Survivors include her husband of the family home; daughters Cristi Stanbro of Bellingham and Cindy Jackson and Carrie Perkins, both of Lynden; son Curtis Harvey Jr. of Lynden; sisters Donna Haynes of Bellingham, Betty Slusser of Lynden, Jeanette Geleynse of Nooksack and Diane VanderVeen of Everson; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Lemley. The body will be cremated following the services. Mrs. Harvey (sic) died Friday (March 2, 1990) in her home. She was born May 12, 1906, in Milwaukee, Wis. The family came to Whatcom County when she was a child. Mrs. Harvie attended school in Kendall. She married W. C. Harvie in 1926 in Bellingham. The Harvies lived for a while near Darrington, then in 1942 moved to Clear Lake. Mrs. Harvie was a member of the Mary C. Birkel Guild of Children's Orthopedic Hospital in Seattle. Survivors in addition to her husband include a sister, Barbara Bitonti of Bellingham, and many nieces and nephews.

HARVIE, Marie, age 82, of 2605 Hampton Place, passed away in a local hospital Saturday, May 3, (1958) following an extended illness. Mrs. Harvie had resided in Bellingham for the past 40 years and was a past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Vancouver, B.C. She leaves to survive, 4 sons, Robert H. Harvey (sic) of this city; Claude Harvey (sic) of Cloverdale, B.C.; W. C. Harvey (sic) of Clearlake, Wash.; Sgt. Joseph Harvey of Fort Lewis, wash.; 8 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Stome of New Westminster, B.C.; one brother, William Brown, of Vancouver, B.C. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Westford Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 6, at 1:30 p.m. within the chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with Rev. Carl R. Eggen, pastor of the Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. Cremation.

HARVIE, Martha A. of Bellingham, WA, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2005, in Bellingham. She was 91, born in Bellingham on December 4, 1913, to Katherine and Alexander Dietz. She loved her family and took great delight in visiting with them. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and reading. She liked to read about history and politics but particularly enjoyed reading mystery novels. Martha kept abreast of current affairs and was always interested in discussing the latest political developments. Her neighbors were very important to her and she enjoyed their frequent visits and kindness throughout the years. Martha took great pleasure in attending plays and musicals. Throughout her life, she was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Martha was preceded in death by her husband Robert and son Rod. She is survived by her two sons, Richard and Robert and wife Myrna; daughter-in-law Laura; sister Alvina Daniels; six grandchildren: Christy Blunt, Jill Schwaqrz, Robert, Michael, Amy and Samantha Harvie; and two great-grandchildren, Alex and Connor Schwarz. Memorial Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 26th, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Jones|Moles Funeral Home & Cremation Service.

HARVIE, Robert, Sr., age 83, of 2423 H Street, passed away in a local hospital, Tuesday, March 23, (1948). Mr. Harvie had resided in this community for the past thirty-two years and was a retired railroad engineer, having been with the Great Northern Railway for forty years. Deceased was a member of Union Lodge, F. & A.M. of New Westminster, and of the Locomotive Engineers Local of Seattle. Surviving relatives are the widow, Marie, at home; four sons, Robert Jr., of Bellingham, W. C. of Clear Lake, C. H., of Cloverdale, B.C., and Joe, of Kobe, Japan; seven grandchildren; one sister, Miss Mary Harvie, and one brother, John, both of New Brunswick, Canada. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. Robert T. McFarlane, Friday, March 26, at 1:30 p.m. Cremation.

HARVIE, Robert H. "Bob", age 74, of 2804 Cornwall, passed away Sat., Nov. 21, (1981). Mr. Harvie had resided in Bellingham for the past 68 years, was the owner and operator of Bob's Tavern; a member of the Culinary Workers and Bartenders Union No. 451. He leaves to survive his wife Martha A. of the family home; 3 sons, Robert A. of Bozeman, Montana; Roderick and Richard, both of this City; 3 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Claude of Cloverdale, B.C.; Clair of Clear Lake and Joseph of Tacoma; numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held Tues. Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Fischer officiating. Followed by cremation.

HARVIE, Roderick Charles, a lifelong Whatcom County resident, died Tuesday, June 23, 1998, in a fishing boat accident off the California coast. He was 50. A private family service was held. A memorial service will be held late summer. Born Dec. 3, 1947 to Robert and Martha Dietz Harvie in Bellingham, he graduated from Bellingham High School in 1966 and completed one year at Yakima Valley Community College. He married Laura Kurtz Sept. 13, 1975, in Bellingham. A commercial purse seine fisher for 35 years, Mr. Harvie fished for salmon, herring and squid in Alaska, Puget Sound, San Francisco and Santa Barbara, Calif. He enjoyed jogging and watching his children play basketball. His father died in 1981. Survivors include his wife, sons Robert Harvie and Michael Harvie and daughters Amy Harvie and Samantha Harvie, all of the family home; his mother of Bellingham; and brothers Richard Harvie of Bellingham and Robert Harvie of Olympia. Arrangements are by Westford Funeral Home.

HARWOOD, Herbert S. (Herbie), age 65, of 4735 Meridian Rd., passed away Wed. Dec. 6, 1978. He has been a Whatcom Co resident the past 42 years and is survived by his wife, Lillian. 1 son Leonard Rude of Everson. 3 daughters; Eula Lillis of Mississippi, Lillian Ripple of Monrovia, CA and Annabell Boykin of Hillsborough, N. Carolina. 3 brothers: Mr. Clarence Harwood of Florida, Mr. Alexander Harwood and Mr. Chip Harwood both of Mass. 2 sisters: Mrs. Agnes Gough of Mass. and Mrs. Clara Wagner of Florida. 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside service Mon. Dec. 11 at 1 p.m. at Greenacres Memorial Park. Arrangements by Jones Funeral Home.

HARWOOD, Katherine, Route 1, Sumas, passed away Monday, February 18, (1946) at the age of 77 years. Mrs. Harwood had been a resident of the Sumas district for the past 38 years and is survived by four sons, Thomas, of the Veteran's Home in Napa, California, Harry, of Vancouver, B.C., Warren, of Prince Rupert, B.C., Frank, of Sumas; one sister, Mrs. Mary Narin, of Vancouver, B.C., and one brother, Stephen Loftus, of Lestock, Sask. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, February 21, at 9 a.m. from St. Ann Catholic Church in Sumas with Father G. Galvin, of Lynden, officiating. Interment in the Sumas Cemetery, under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home in Sumas.
