HALBERG, Ethel B. Porter, age 65, of 1015 Gladstone, passed away in a local hospital, Tuesday, Feb. 21, (1961), following an extended illness. Mrs. Halberg had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 59 years. Mrs. Halberg leaves to survive four brothers, Alford Porter of Seattle, Charles Porter of Kent, and Theodore and Wilbur Porter, both of Bellingham. Also several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Shirley Duncan and Robert Porter, both of Seattle. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Feb. 24, at 3:30 p.m. within the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Swerdfeger officiating. Interment in Bay View Cemetery.

HALBERT, Louise, age 79 of 320 South Garden passed away in a local hospital Friday, Jan. 13, (1961) following a short illness. Mrs. Halbert had resided in Bellingham for the past 52 years and was a retired manager of the Credit Bureau of Whatcom County. She leaves to survive 1 son, Charles V. Halbert, 2 granddaughters, Virginia and Lisa Halbert all of this city, 1 sister Mrs. Mary Dew of New Rochelle, N.Y., several nieces and nephews, including the Rev. Elmer Lofstrom of St. Johns Episcopal Church in Seattle. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday January 17 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home. Rev. W. Robert Webb officiating. Interment Greenacres.

HALBERT, Sherman W. - Suffering a heart attack at a local hospital just before he was to undergo a minor operation, Sherman W. Halbert, past exalted ruler of Elks lodge No. 194, 32d degree Mason and a member of Osman Temple of the Shrine, St. Paul, Minn., died suddenly Saturday night (Dec. 27, 1930) about 9:30 o'clock. City firemen used their lungmotor in an attempt at resuscitation. Mr. Halbert was taken to the hospital Saturday. Funeral services were held at the Harlow-Hollingsworth funeral home at 3:30 p.m. today. The Episcopal church services were read and Bellingham Bay Lodge No. 44, F. & A. M., gave its ritual. Cremation followed. Mr. Halbert had lived here twenty-two years and was a well known automobile salesman. He was born in Winona, Minn., May 15, 1879. He was past exalted ruler of the Bellingham Elks lodge in 1919 and was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal church. Surviving relatives are the widow, Mrs. E. Louise Halbert, one son, Charles Halbert, the mother, Mrs. Anna Halbert, Seattle; one sister, Mrs. R. S. Blair, Seattle, and one brother, Curtis Halbert, of California.

HALBRITTER, Don E., age 74, of 2029 Iron St., passed away at his residence Sat., Nov. 23, 1985. He had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 47 years. Leaves to survive his wife Sylvia of Bellingham. Services will be arranged at a later date, under the direction of the Jerns & LeVeck Funeral Chapel.

HALBRITTER, Lillian Mary, age 59, who resided at 943 Boblett, Blaine, passed away in a local hospital, Tuesday, December 30, 1980. She had been a resident of Blaine for the past 3 years and was a manager of the Pan-Tec Storage Park; she was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and leaves to survive her husband Donald, 3 sons, Lt. Col. Fred Halbritter of Alabama; Ronald in Siberia; Earl of California; 7 grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Friday, January 2 at 1:30 p.m. in Greenacres Cemetery under the direction of Jerns-McKinney Funeral Chapel. [b. April 1, 1921]

HALBRITTER, Sylvia V., 80, 2029 Iron St., died Thursday (June 26, 1986) at a Bellingham convalescent center. Mrs. Halbritter was born May 9, 1906, in South Dakota. She was a 50-year resident of Bellingham and attended Assumption Catholic Church. Her husband, Donald Halbritter, died in November. Survivors include two daughters, Betty Blume of Bellingham and Beatrice Hall of Portland, Ore.; a sister (Clara Holt) in Arizona; and numerous grandchildren. Private family services will be held next week at Greenacres Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Jerns & LeVeck Funeral Chapel.

HALDERMAN, Arthur Burton (Art), 3007 Alderwood Ave., age 78, passed away Sunday, June 19, (1966). Mr. Halderman was a sixty year resident of this community, was a retired logger, and was a charter member of Twin Sisters Grange. He is survived by his widow, Ruth, at home; a step-daughter, Mrs. Marian Cline, Federal Way; one grandson, two nephews and one niece. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Major Eric Swan Wednesday, June 22 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park.

HALDERMAN, Cleone Lucretia, age 99 of Medford, OR, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 1994 at the Hearthstone Manor. Mrs. Halderman was born May 15, 1895 in Alturas, CA and had lived in Bellingham from 1937 to 1950. Cleone was a homemaker all of her life and enjoyed gardening. She married John F. Fairchild in 1912. He died in 1928. In 1936 she married Orville Halderman in Phoenix, OR. Mr. Halderman preceded her in death in 1950. Survivors include a son, Harry Fairchild of Medford, OR; a step-daughter, Leslie Olson of Bellingham; and a sister Alice Cochrane of San Diego, CA; 3 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren. A daughter, Melva and 2 sisters preceded her in death. Inurnment will be in Green Acres (Greenacres) Memorial Park, Ferndale, WA. Arrangements are under the direction of Conger-Morris Funeral Directors of Medford.

HALDERMAN, Eleanor R., age 80. formerly of 6245 Hannegan Rd., Everson passed away Saturday, August 8, 1981. A lifetime county resident, Mrs. Halderman had attended the Ten Mile Chapel, was also a member of the Jo-He-Lo Demonstration Club, and prior to her retirement had been employed as a cook for the Meridian School Dist. for 20 years. She was married to her husband Roy of B'ham. in 1928. Mr. Halderman died in 1957. She is survived by a son, Jim and his wife Dorothy of Everson; 4 grandchildren, Barbara, Jennifer, Timothy and Anthony Halderman. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, August 12, 10:30 a.m. at Greenacres Memorial Park with Rev. C. Benham Pruett officiating. HALDERMAN, Mary Jean, age 24, of Everson Route 1, passed away at Barstow, Calif. Saturday, Feb. 26, (1955) following an auto accident. She had resided in Los Angeles for the past two months. Surviving are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Halderman of Everson, Rt. 1, and one brother, Jim, at home. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 3, at 2 p.m. from the Gillies Funeral Home at Lynden. Interment Greenacres Memorial Park.

HALDERMAN, Orvil L., age 61, of 2214 Lynn Street, passed away in a local hospital Monday, June 22, (1953). Mr. Halderman had resided in this community for the past 45 years, and had been employed by Gustafson Plasterers. Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Cleone L. Halderman at the family home; a daughter, Mrs. Leslee Olsen, of Bellingham; a step-daughter, Mrs. Melva Bullock, of Bakersfield, Calif.; a step-son, Harry Fairchild, of San Diego; two grandchildren; two brothers, Roy, of Laurel, and Art, of Wickersham; and a sister, Mrs. Edna Anderson of Burlington. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be con[ducted] Thursday, June 25, at 1 p.m. Cremation.

HALDERMAN, Roy, age 53 years, of Route 1, Everson, passed away at his home, Tuesday, April 30, (1957), following a short illness. He was a lifetime resident of the Ten Mile district and is survived by his wife, Eleanor; one son, Jim, at home; one brother, A. B. Halderman, of Bellingham. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 4, at 2 p.m. from the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden, with the Rev. Carl Wright officiating. Interment, Greenacres.

HALDERMAN, Ruth, a native of Minnesota, passed away in a Bellingham nursing home at the age of 85 on Mon., Feb. 2, (1976). Survivors include her brothers, Francis Chambers of Port Angeles and Clarke Chambers of Olympia; 3 nieces and a grandson. There will be no services at her request.

HALDORSON, Rosemary, age 57, of 1592 VanWyck Rd., passed away Sun. Oct. 22, 1978. Mrs. Haldorson had been a resident of Whatcom Co. for the past 25 yrs. & leaves to survive her husband, Erick of the family home. 4 sons: David Palmer of Sacramento, Sam Palmer of Sedro Woolley, Louie Palmer of this city & Michael Palmer of Scottsdale, Arizona. 1 daughter, Mrs. Francis E. Harris of Scottsdale, Arizona. 1 step-daughter, Mrs. Sylvia Liles & 1 step-son, Erick L. Haldorson both of this city. 9 grandchildren. Step-father, S. A. Walter of Organ, New Mexico. 4 sisters; Mrs. Alma Abucay of Solodad, CA, Mrs. Kristine Eray of Ferndale, Mrs. Alice Watson of Las Vegas & Mrs. Eleanor Montgomery of Augusta, Georgia. 2 brothers; Edward Walter of Provo, Utah & James Walter of Farmington, New Mexico. HALE, baby boy of 22 Bayside Rd., passed away in a local hospital April 17th, (1976). He is survived by his parents Alan and Adrain Hale of city, paternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Frank Hale of Olympia; maternal grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Linnemann of Yakima. Services were conducted under the direction of the Westford Funeral Home.

HALE, Albert, age 49 years, of 833 High St., passed away at a local hospital Monday, April 13, (1953), following an extended illness. Mr. Hale had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 13 years and was employed by the State Land Commission office. He was a member of the Church of the Assumption and the Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. No. 194. Mr. Hale is survived by his wife, Loretta M.; two daughters, Carol A., at home, and Phyllis B., of Hayward, Calif.; his mother, Mrs. Florence DeLong, and step-father, Ely DeLong, both of Bellingham. Rosary will be said Tuesday, April 14, at 7:30 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home. Requiem mass will be read Wednesday, April 15, at 9:30 a.m. within the Church of the Assumption, with the Rev. Bernard J. Cremer, pastor, officiating. Interment Bay View Cemetery.

HALE, Alice C., age 54 of 441_ Cable St., passed away Tuesday, June 14, (1977). She was a member of the Garden Street Methodist Church. Survived by her husband, Vern J.; 2 sons, Joe, City and Allen, Seattle; 1 daughter, Mrs. Arlene Frank, City; 5 grandchildren, 3 sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Barnhouse of Seattle, Mrs. Pat Tipsword, Seattle and Mrs. Merta Kiffer of Ketchikan, Alaska; 1 brother, Lawrence Smith of Ketchikan, Alaska. HALE, Alta J., age 79, of Burlington, former Friday Harbor resident, died Thurs. Nov. 17, 1983 in a Burlington nursing home. She was born June 26, 1904 in Seattle. Her marriage to Albert L. (Roy) Hale took place July 13, 1922 at Orcas. She had resided in San Juan County until moving to Burlington in 1972. Mr. Hale died in 1981. Surviving are 2 sons, Richard Hale of Tempee, Arizona and William "Bud" Hale, Burlington; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Frances Crawmer, Mt. Vernon; 1 brother, Henry Marrian, Seattle and several nieces & nephews. Graveside memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Mon. HALE, Alta M., age 87, of 1920 Iowa St., passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, March 30, (1960). Mrs. Hale had resided in Bellingham for the past 54 years and was a member of the Garden St. Methodist Church. Survivors are two sons, Roy M. and Harry Hale, both of Bellingham; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Palmetier of San Pablo, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by the Rev. Don Swerdfeger, Friday, April 1, at 1 p.m., followed by cremation.

HALE, Bob, a Bellingham native who became well known for doing cartoons while reporting the weather news, died Tuesday (April 19, 1983) at Ballard Community Hospital in Seattle. He was 64. He was born Dec. 11, 1918, in Bellingham and lived here much of his life. He was the first - and only - cartooning television weatherman on KING-TV and KIRO-TV in Seattle. He also worked at KNBC in Los Angeles. At the same time, he was co-owner of Hale and Bell, a commercial art company in Seattle, said his partner, Dick Bell. He never married. He is survived by his brother, Vern Hale Jr., of Bellingham. Cremation is being arranged by Mittlestadt Mortuary, in Seattle's Ballard district.

HALE, Caroline Adeline Schiemer, age 50, resident of Burlington. Passed away at her home August 31, 1982. She was born November 8, 1931, at Nyssa, Oregon. The wife of Frank L. Hale. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and First Church of Christ Scientist, Mt. Vernon. She was a graduate of The College of Idaho. Survivors are: husband, Frank L. Hale, of Burlington; 3 daughters, Mrs. Clyde (Jane) Martin, of Sedro Woolley, Mrs. Randy (Donna) Richards, of Clairmount California, Mrs. Kent (Ann) Christiansen, of Boise, Idaho; 1 brother, Mr. George Schiemer, of Nyssa, Oregon; her mother, Mrs. George Schiemer, of Nyssa, Oregon. Memorial services will be held at The Kern Funeral Chapel, September 2, 1982 Thursday evening 8 p.m. Cremation has been conducted at Hawthorne Lawn Crematory.

HALE, Clara Mary, age 71 of 506 E. Main Street, Everson, died Wednesday, August 25, 1982. She had been in this area for 3 years and was active in the Everson Presbyterian Church, Everson Cub Scouting, was a volunteer RSVP worker, along with the Senior Citizens Center. Surviving are 2 sons, Rick Bloxom of Everson; Ronald Bloxom of California; 3 daughters, Eleanor Lentz of Everson; Mary Lou Battle of Michigan; Jo Anne Bloxom of Oregon; a brother, Paul Lobdell of Texas; 5 sisters, Ella Obryan of Texas; Laura Cavin of Michigan; Sylvia West of Michigan; Golda Rhinesmith of Michigan; Ann Potter of Florida; 21 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; numerous nieces & nephews. HALE, Edward H., 78, of Lynden died suddenly at his home on June 7, 1993. A graveside service was held at Greenacres Memorial Park on Thursday with Eugene Miller officiating. Mr. Hale was born in Sutter Creek, Calif. on July 24, 1914, a son of Harvey and Anne Benson Hale. He was raised in Sutter Creek and graduated from high school there. He served in the Army in World War II. He was employed by Western Pacific Railroad from 1937 until his retirement as a locomotive engineer in 1978. In Port Arthur, Texas on Dec. 8, 1941 he was married to Geraldine Stanley. They moved to Lynden in 1992 from Pioneer, Calif. Mr. Hale was a member of the Jehovah's Witness congregation in Pine Grove, Calif. and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Besides his wife Geraldine of the family home, Mr. Hale is survived by three daughters, Sheila Culver and husband Herbert of Lynden, LaMoyna Bibbero and husband Richard of Carmel, Calif. and Marcia Ross and husband Michael of Lynden; two sisters, Alva Whiteman of Stockton, Calif. and Gertrude Doubleday of Monterey, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

HALE, Emilienne Guckert, age 84, formerly of 5736 Storr Rd., Ferndale, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 1986 in the Christian Rest Home in Lynden. She was born May 7, 1902 in Lenz, France. She came to Washington from France in 1931. An employee of Boeing Aircraft until her retirement in 1964. She is survived by one son Henry and wife, Eugenia of Seattle; two daughters, Ann and husband, James H. Easton of Ferndale and Violet and husband, Irving Carlson of Lynden; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren. Memorial services were held Tuesday, June 17 at 11 a.m. at the Clearbrook Lutheran Church, Lynden. Pastor John Leaf officiating. Arrangements by Jerns & LeVeck Funeral Chapel.

HALE, Ermine Hendrix, age 67, of 1310 Oriental, passed away Sun. April 10, 1988. HALE, Flora, age 71, of Bellingham, passed away in Bellingham Sat., March 12, 1988. She was born February 23, 1917 in Glacier, WA and lived in Bellingham the last 23 years. She married Jay Hale in Bellingham in 1938. She loved making cookies for the grandchild's school & the city bus driver. She leaves to survive her husband Jay of the family home; her daughter Sandra Lane of Bellingham; 2 sisters, Juanta Plemon of Bellingham & Dora Hopfield of Sedro Woolley; 2 grandchildren, Laurie & Jeff Lane; numerous nieces & nephews. HALE, Florence M., age 92, of Bellingham, died Tues. Dec. 12, (1989), in Bellingham. She was born May 8, 1897 in Blue Earth County, Minnesota and was a resident of Bellingham most of her life. She is survived by a son, Joe Henley & wife Margaret of Bellingham; a daughter, Irene Smith & husband Harold of Bellingham; step-son, Vern Hale Jr. of Bellingham; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband Vern Hale. Graveside service will be held Fri. Dec. 15, 1 p.m. at Greenacres Memorial Park, with Rev. Ken Long officiating. HALE, Fred N., age 72, of 1314 1/2 Cornwall Ave., passed away in a local hospital Saturday, March 16, (1957). Mr. Hale had resided in this community the past 4 years, moving here from Watertown, Conn. where he had resided for nine years and had been a guard and deputy sheriff for Chase Brass & Copper. Surviving relatives include the widow: Gertrude Jane at home; 2 grandchildren in Maine, and 3 brothers in the East. HALE, George A., age 67 years, 1715 Broadway, passed away Sunday, September 28, in a local hospital. He had been a resident of Bellingham for forty-five years and was a retired letter carrier. Mr. Hale was a member of Branch No. 450 of National Association of Letter Carriers, and the Bay City Encampment No. 23, I.O.O.F., Bellingham Bay Lodge No. 31, and Rebekah Lodge No. 43. Mr. Hale was a past noble grand of the I.O.O.F. He leaves to survive his wife, Elizabeth Hale, and two sons, Howard, of 1715 Broadway, and Lorenz, of Oak Harbor, Washington; one sister, Mrs. Ruby Thayer, Anacortes, Wash., and three brothers, Daniel B. Hale, Portland, Oregon, James H. Hale, Seattle, Newton R. Hale, Custer, Wash., and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 30, at 2 p.m. Christian Science services will be conducted by Mrs. H. R. Bodiker, and ritualistic services by the Bellingham Bay Lodge No. 31, I.O.O.F. Cremation will follow.

HALE, George Howard, 74, of Anacortes, died Tuesday (March 3, 1987) at a Bellingham nursing home. He was born May 25, 1912, in Washington. He lived in Bellingham until 1960, when he moved to Alaska. He eventually settled in Anacortes. Mr. Hale was a retired boiler maker. He was past president of the Anacortes Eagles, a life member of the Everett Elks Club, a member of the Anacortes American Legion, Post No. 13; the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 7392 of Oak Harbor; a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Eastlake Post No. 43; a Master Mason and member of Kennewick Lodge No. 153, F. and A.M.; a member of the Nile Temple of Mountlake Terrace; and a member of the Fleet Reserve Association. Survivors include his wife, Beverly, of Anacortes; a son, Michael, of Bellevue; a daughter, Pam Mausten, of Sumner; a brother, Lorenz, of Bellingham; and six grandchildren. Arrangements are pending with Westford Funeral Home.

HALE, Gertrude J., age 82, of 1817 Knox Avenue, passed away in a local sanitarium January 10, (1961). Mrs. Hale is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Vernon Bigelow of Chehalis. Private services were conducted by Rev. W. Robert Webb on Thursday, Jan. 11, at 3:30 p.m., followed by cremation, under the direction of Jones Funeral Home.

HALE, Harry, age 76 of 803 32nd, passed away Wed., Jan. 19, (1977). Mr. Hale had been a life resident of Bellingham. He was a member of the Service Employees International Union of Everett and Local 120 of Bellingham. He leaves to survive 1 step-son, W. J. Vale of Seattle and 1 step-daughter, Mrs. Cathern Thomas of Burlington. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, January 21 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with Rev. Douglas Kahl of the Central Lutheran Church officiating. Interment Bay View Cemetery.

HALE, James "Rolly" of 3192 Creasy Road, Custer, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 1994, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was 82. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. March 26 at Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel. Ashes will be placed in Enterprise Cemetery in Ferndale. Born Jan. 27, 1912, to Newton and Addie Williams Hale in Blaine, he was a farmer in Whatcom County before joining the U.S. Army from 1942-1945. He was injured in the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Hale married Irene Worline on Sept. 13, 1945, in Blaine. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service from 1948 until he retired in 1972. After retirement, Mr. Hale did volunteer work at the Ferndale Food Bank and with area children. He was a member and first commander of Streets-Pike Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9474 in Custer, and belonged to Haynie Grange for 48 years. Survivors include his wife of the family home; daughters Gloria Jean Archambault of Redmond and Gay H. Jenkins of Jacksonville, Fla.; brother Newton Hale of Custer; and three grandchildren. Arrangements by Greenacres Funeral Home and Crematorium.

HALE, Jay, age 87, B'ham, died at a local nursing home Fri. Dec. 8, 1989. He was born August 4, 1902 in Minnesota & moved to B'ham 21 yrs. ago. He was a retired Railroad Section Foreman for Milwaukee Railroad with 40 yrs. of service. He is survived by his daughter Sandra & her husband Ken Lane; 2 grandchildren, Laurie & Jeff Lane all of B'ham; numerous nieces & nephews. Private family services will be held. HALE, Joseph Alexander, age 62 years, of Rt. 1, Everson, passed away at his home Wednesday, June 18, (1952). He had been a resident of the Everson district for the past 26 years, was a Veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion. Mr. Hale is survived by his wife, Hilda E.; 2 sons, Vernon J., of Bellingham, and Chelsey A. of Everson; four grandchildren; four sisters, Jessie LaVigne, Port Moody, B.C., Grace Grimard, New Westminster, Pearl Birchard, Abbotsford, B.C., Etta Sarf, Whitearth, N.D.; two brothers, Jay F. of Everson, and Archie, of Dunkirk, Saskatchewan. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 21, at 2 p.m. from the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden, with the Rev. Palmer, of Everson, officiating. Interment, Greenacres Memorial Park. Military services will be conducted at the graveside.

HALE, Kathern T., age 90, of 803 32nd St., passed away Fri., May 7, (1976). She was a life time resident of Bellingham and is survived by her husband, Harry; one son, William J. Vail of Seattle; a daughter, Mrs. Kathern Thomas of Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Pederson of Yakima; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 11 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Bay View Cemetery under the direction of the Westford Funeral Home.

HALE, Lydia M. of Bellingham died Wednesday, June 18, 1997, in Bellingham. She was 91. A memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 119 Texas St., Bellingham, the Rev. Douglas Iben officiating. Burial will be in Live Oak Memorial Park, Monrovia, Calif. Mrs. Hale was born of Christian and Roseanna (Storz) Erchinger in East Grand Forks, Minn., and was raised in Bellingham. She lived in California for more than 60 years before moving back to Bellingham in 1995. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Monrovia and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bellingham. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Brash. Survivors include her brother, Adolph J. Erchinger of Bellingham, daughter Lillian Roter of Saugus, Calif., and numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements are by Jones-Moles Funeral Home.

HALE, Lorna A. - Services for homemaker Lorna A. Hale, 81, of 202 N. 34th St., will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roger Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Greenacres Memorial Park. Mrs. Hale died Thursday (June 28, 1990) in Bellingham. She was born Lorna A. Maxwell on Feb. 23, 1909, in LaConner, and lived in Whatcom County since 1925. She was a member of Federated women's Club, Women's Christian Service Fellowship, Druzea Club of Bellingham and Friends of the Library. She also was a member of Garden Street United Methodist Church and active in church women's clubs. She volunteered at the former St. Luke's General Hospital gift shop and at the American Heart Association. Her husband Roy M. Hale died March 1974. Survivors include a son, Kenneth Hale of Blaine; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four brothers, Palmer and Harold Maxwell of Bellingham, Russell Maxwell of Seattle and James Maxwell of Camano Island; four sisters, Marge Stewart, Ruth Corbitt, Dorothy Maxwell, all of Bellingham, and Anita Alley of Poway, Calif.

HALE, Muriel M., age 77, of 4000 Flynn St., passed away at her residence, September 21, 1994; has been a resident of Bellingham the past 53 years; was born in Everson June 20, 1917. Leaves to survive her husband Lorenz of the family residence; two daughters, Kathy Hale of Redmond, Sandra and husband Lonie Logan of Longview, WA; three brothers, William and Carl Belcoe, both of Mt. Vernon and Melvert of Moses Lake; four sisters, Eva Dengel of Renton, Agnes Robinson of Kent, Delores Monsees and Matilda Angel both of Mt. Vernon. Also 2 grandchildren. Services will be held Friday, September 23, at 4:00 p.m. in the Jerns LeVeck Funeral Chapel.

HALE, Newton Howard, age 73, of Rt. 1, Custer, passed away in a local hospital Tuesday, Dec. 13, (1955) following an extended illness. He had been a resident of Custer for the past 50 years. He is survived by his wife, Addie; two sons, Newton of Custer, and Rolland of Mercer Island; one sister, Mrs. Ruby Thayer of Anacortes; one brother, James of Custer; two grandchildren, numerous other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted at the Monroe Funeral Chapel in Ferndale, Friday, Dec. 16, at 2 p.m. Cremation will follow.

HALE, Price C., Sr., age 76, a resident of 1710 Windsor Dr. Mt. Vernon passed away suddenly Sat. Aug. 6, (1977) at the Skagit Valley Hospital. He was born in Roanoke, Virginia Apr. 19, 1901, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Hale. He was educated in that area & in 1919 came to the West Coast settling in Seattle. He was married to Maude Sanford in Pt. Angeles Nov. 8, 1926. In 1927, the couple came to Skagit Co. where he had resided since, except for a short time in N. Carolina. Mr. Hale worked in this area as an automobile salesman for a number of yrs. During WWII he worked for the Wash. State Patrol & later owned & operated Hale's Westside Grocery in Mt. Vernon & for 5 yrs. worked as bailiff for Skagit Co. retiring in 1974. He was a member of the First Baptist Church & had been trustee & usher for the Church. A member of Masonic Lodge & the Order of the Eastern Star in Mt. Vernon. Survivors are: his wife, Maude at the family residence, 1 daughter, Mrs. Jack Delores Benston of Bellview (sic). 1 son, C. Price Hale Jr. of Kenner, Louisiana. 4 granddaughters, Linda Kay Benston of Seattle, Mrs. Dennis Sharon Mooney of Seattle, Mrs. Gary Vicki Wichers of B'ham. & Trudy Hale of Metairie, Louisiana & 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the First Baptist Church, Mt. Vernon at 2 p.m. Tues. Aug. 9 with the Rev. Wilholland Williams officiating. Concluding services & interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Mr. Hale will lie in state at the Kern Funeral Chapel in Mt. Vernon until noon Tues. Mt. Baker Lodge No. 36 will conduct graveside committal services.

HALE, Raymond G., age 79, formerly of Seattle, passed away in a local rest home Mon., March 15, (1976). A retired dry cleaning operator, made his home in Seattle for over 50 years prior to moving to Bellingham 2 years ago. He was a member of St. Dunstans Episcopal Church of Seattle, The Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rites Bodies, Nile Temple, and Shrine Club. Surviving are his wife, Emilienne of Bellingham; two daughters, Florence Clayton and Delores Smith both of Seattle; step-children, Henry Guckart of Seattle, Ann Easton of Ferndale and Violet Carlson of Lynden. Also numerous grandchildren. Funeral services to be held in St. Johns Episcopal Church in Seattle, Thurs., March 19 at 1 p.m. followed by burial in Forest Long Cemetery. Arrangements by Veroske's Bellingham Chapel.

HALE, Samuel P., age 89 of 1938 Humboldt St., passed away in a local hospital Sunday, March 20, (1960) following an extended illness. Mr. Hale had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 13 years, was past member of the Townsend Club. Rev. Alan Wood will conduct funeral services on Monday, March 28, at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Bingham & Jerns Funeral Home. Interment Bay View.

HALE, Vern, Sr., age 64, of 308 W. Champion St., passed away in a local hospital, Sunday, Aug. 23, (1959). Mr. Hale had resided in Bellingham for the past 53 years; was a member of the Teamsters Union Local No. 231; operated Hale's Outdoor Store on Elk St. for many years; was a partner in the Hale and Provanche Realty Co.; for the past number of years was a driver for the Diamond B. Fuel Company. Survivors are his widow, Florence, at home; two sons, Vern, Jr., of Bellingham and Bob of Seattle; one grandson, Michael Hale, of Bellingham; mother, Mrs. Alta Hale of Bellingham; two step-children Joe W. Henley and Mrs. Irene Karb, both of Bellingham; 5 step-grandchildren; two brothers, Roy and Harry, both of Bellingham. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by the Rev. Calvin W. Moore, Wednesday, Aug. 26, at 1 p.m.

HALE, Vernon Joseph, 1310 Oriental Ave., B'ham, age 65, passed away Thurs., May 7, (1987) in Bellingham. He was born June 8, 1921 in Moosejaw, Saskatchewan. He had been a Whatcom County resident most of his life & was a member of the Plumbers & Steamfitters Union Local No. 40. He is survived by his wife, Ermine of the family home; 2 sons, Vernon J. Hale Jr. & wife Joy of Edmonds, Alan Hale & wife Yvonne of Seattle; 1 daughter, Arlene Long & husband Bob of Lynden; 4 step-daughters, Sandra Termen & husband Tom of Bellevue, Karen Mellema & husband Anton, Laurie McMurry & husband Alan both of Bellingham, Melanie Meredith & husband Steve of Kenowick (sic); 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 brother Chelsey Hale of Everson. HALE, Wanda Mae, age 45 who resided at 1236 Ellis Street passed away at her residence Jan. 7, 1980. She had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 15 years and was a member of the Broadway Christian Church and retired clerk from the Whatcom County Sheriff's Department. She leaves to survive, 2 daughters, Kim Hale and Lisa Hale, both of Bellingham, her parents Harry & Esther Brack both of Kansas, 2 brothers, Leonard Brack, CO, Keith Brack, TN, 1 sister Annette McNichle of Kansas. Funeral services will be held Fri., Jan. 11, 1980 at 11 a.m. in the Broadway Christian Church with Rev. Herald Minkler officiating, followed by cremation. Under the direction of Veroske, Jerns & LeVeck Funeral Chapel.

HALEY, Clyde N., age 84 of 5280 Northwest Road, Bellingham, passed away Monday, February 15, 1982. Mr. Haley had been a resident of Whatcom & Skagit Counties for most of his life time and was a Veteran of WWI. He is survived by cousins, Bob Oaks of California; Jean Rothenbuhler of Acme; & Rhodes Galbraith of Acme; & other distant cousins. Cremation will be held at Greenacres Memorial Park under the direction of Moles Funeral Home.

HALEY, Herbert N., 54, passed away in Alaska, Sunday, Dec. 18, (1955) as a result of a plane crash. Mr. Haley was a commercial aircraft pilot and was a former resident of Whatcom County. Mr. Haley is survived by two sons and two daughters, S/Sgt. Roy M. Haley, with the Marine Corps in Japan, and Sgt. Ray N. Haley, with the Marine Corps in Virginia; Janie Ruth and Charlotte Elaine Haley of Rt. 2, Ferndale; and one brother, Lincoln Haley. Private services will be held at the Monroe Funeral Chapel in Ferndale, Tuesday, Dec. 27, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Canon E. B. Smith officiating. Interment Greenacres Memorial Park.

HALEY, Ona - An informal wake will be held for Ona Haley, 44, from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at The Aftermath Hall, corner of Broadway and West Holly Street. Mrs. Haley died in October 1991 on Mount Baker. She was born Nov. 16, 1947, in Greenville, Ohio, to Benet and Ellen Maxwell. A nine-year resident of Bellingham, she worked for Georgia Pacific Corp. for five years. She was a member of Maple Leaf Chapter No. 58, O.E.S. and a former mother advisor of the Rainbow Girls. Survivors include sons John Haley of Tacoma; mother Ellen Richardson of Greenville, Ohio; sister Cindy McGuire; brothers Jim Maxwell of Wick, Ohio, Herbert Maxwell of New York and John Maxwell of Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation and arrangements are by Moles Funeral Home of Ferndale.

HALEY, Patrick W., age 85 years, beloved brother of Mrs. William Rauch, 2625 Meridian, with whom he had lived for the past ten years, passed away Friday, February 22, (1946) after a short illness. Mr. Haley was a member of the Church of the Assumption. He leaves to survive beside his sister, several nieces and nephews. The remains are resting at the Bingham-Dahlquist Funeral Home. Rosary will be said within the Church of the Assumption Sunday, February 24, at 7:30 p.m. Requiem High Mass will be sung within the Church for the Repose of the Soul, Monday, February 25, at 9 a.m., with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. G. Stafford, celebrant. Interment, Bay View Cemetery.

HALEY, Tracy Roxanne, age 8 of 8228 Percie Road, Blaine, passed away Sun., May 11, 1980. Tracy was a life time resident of the Custer community and attended Custer Elementary School. She is survived by her parents, Ray & Beverly Haley, 1 brother, Mark & step-brothers, David Vertrees, Bellingham & Michael Haley, Hollywood, Calif., step-sisters, Denise Hicks of Bellingham, Diane Bixby of Spokane, Kathleen Haley of Hollywood & Tyleen Haley of San Mateo, Calif., grandparents, Mrs. Sunny Decker & Mr. & Mrs. Ed Hanlon, all of Bellingham, great grandmother, Ura Allen of Ferndale, 1 niece & 4 nephews. Funeral services will be conducted by Father John Vance Fri., May 16 at 2 p.m. in Moles Funeral Home with cremation following.
