GAAR, Alice C., age 78 of 5280 Northwest Rd., Bellingham passed away Monday, July 26, 1982. She is survived by 1 son, John M. Gaar of Anchorage, Alaska; 1 daughter Alice Kunzy of Costa Mesa, California; 2 sisters, Marguerite Willging of Canoga Park, California and Bess Hoyt of Minneapolis. Cremation was held under the direction of Moles Funeral Home with interment of ashes at Jefferson barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.GAASLAND, Andrew, age 91 of 1130 Ellis passed away in a local hospital Sunday, Sept. 28, (1958) following a lingering illness. Mr. Gaasland had resided in Bellingham for the past 68 years and was a member of the IOOF, No. 31, Bellingham Rebeckah Lodge No. 43, Sons of Norway and the Moose Lodge No. 493. He leaves to survive two sons, Ray and Roy Gaasland, one grandson Peter Gaasland, all of this city. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Wagoner officiating. Interment Bayview.
GAASLAND, Arthur E., 72, of Bellingham passed away March 10, 1993 at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born in Seattle to Bessie and Arthur Gaasland on June 15, 1920. Arthur and his family moved to Bellingham in 1924. He married June Scrimsher on July 5, 1942. They celebrated their 50th anniversary July 5, 1992. He was a member of First Christian Church and was a member of Teamster Union No. 231 for 30 years. He enjoyed music and playing the organ. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Gaasland, in 1972. He is survived by his wife, June Gaasland of the family home; a son, Larry Gaasland of Bellingham; a daughter, Dianne and husband Bob Wistoski of Tacoma; and two grandchildren. Services were held at the Westford Funeral Home chapel on Friday with the Rev. Richard Talley officiating. Arrangements were made by Westford Funeral Home.
GAASLAND, Arthur P., 90, a former Bellingham resident, died Saturday (Aug. 28, 1982) at his home in Port Orchard. He was born Dec. 5, 1891, in Fairhaven. He served in the Navy during World War I. He had been an employee of Brooks Lumber Co. During World War II he moved to the Bremerton area, where he worked in the sheet metal shop at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard until his retirement. He married Dorothy Gladys Thompson in Shelton in 1971. Survivors include his wife; a son, Arthur E. Gaasland, of Bellingham; a stepson, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. today at Greenacres Memorial Park. Arrangements were by Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home, Bremerton.
GAASLAND, Elliott O., age 58, of 2609 Russell St., passed away in a local hospital Tuesday, Oct. 2, (1956). Mr. Gaasland had been a resident of this community for life, was a veteran of World War I, was a member of Albert J. Hamilton Post No. 7, American Legion, and the 40 and 8, and was a retired mail carrier. Surviving relatives include the widow, Ruth, at the family home, a son, Howard E. of Bellingham; four granddaughters, Joan, Janna, Shirley and Sheila, all of Bellingham; two brothers, Arthur P., of Bremerton and Harold A. of Anchorage, Alaska, and numerous nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the Jones' Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Rev. Clarence Haugen, Thursday, Oct. 4, at 3 p.m. Final resting place Greenacres Memorial Park.
GAASLAND, Harold L. - A funeral for Harold L. Gaasland will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Greenacres Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Douglas Iben officiating and military honors by William Matthews Post No. 1585. Private burial will be in Greenacres Memorial Park. Mr. Gaasland died Sunday, July 20, 1997, in Bellingham. He was 74. Born March 31, 1923, to Harold and Irene LaCasse Gaasland in Seattle, he lived in Whatcom County for nine years. He married Wanda Archibald on Jan. 19, 1950, in Tacoma. She died in 1995. Mr. Gaasland worked as a scaler for the U.S. Forest Service until retiring in 1985. He was a member of the American Legion in Ellensburg and William Matthews Post No. 1585, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include daughter Susan Upton of Pasco, stepson Guy McBride of Seattle, stepdaughter Barbara LaDoucer of Bellingham, brothers Dennis Gaasland of Lake Stevens and Milton Gaasland of Arizona, four grandchildren and other relatives.
GAASLAND, Hazel M. - Private family burial for Bellingham native Hazel M. Gaasland, 83, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bayview Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Congregational Church, with the Rev. Donel McClelan officiating. Mrs. Gaasland, 600 S. State St., died Tuesday (Jan 2, 1990) at a Bellingham nursing home. Born Hazel Rich on March 30, 1906 in Bellingham, Mrs. Gaasland was a 1923 graduate of Whatcom High School. She married Roy Gaasland on Oct. 4, 1931. He died in 1968. A stenographer for Miller and Hawkins Real Estate, Mrs. Gaasland was a member of First Congregational Church, Bellingham Yacht Club, Bellingham Golf and Country Club, Elks Club and Whatcom Museum of History and Art. She is survived by a son, Peter Gaasland of Samish Island; two sisters, Lois Bromley of Sumas and Amy Sykes of Edmonton, Alberta; and four granddaughters. Arrangements are by Westford Funeral Home.
GAASLAND, June Amanda - Visitation for June Amanda Gaasland of Bellingham will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Westford Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Westford Funeral Home Chapel, 10:30 a.m., Friday, Jun 2, 2000. Mrs. Gaasland died Monday, May 29, 2000 at Alderwood Park Convalescent Center. She was 78. She was born February 9, 1922 in Lynden, WA to Leonard and Helen (Carsner) Scrimshere in Lynden. She was a lifetime Whatcom County resident. June married Arthur Gaasland July 5, 1942 in Bellingham WA. She worked 10 years at Sprouse Reitz. June was a life member of First Christian Church, a member of Esther Group at First Christian Church, Bellingham PTA and Rainbow Mothers, 4H Leader, and past State President of Federated Homemakers. Preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Gaasland March 10, 1993 and a son Gary A. Gaasland in 1972. Survivors include son Larry Gaasland of Bellingham, daughter Dianne Wistoski of Tacoma, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was born Dec. 23, 1942 in Bellingham to Arthur & June (Scrimsher) Gaasland. After graduating from Meridian High School in 1962, Larry had a number of careers - his favorite was as a commercial fisherman. Larry was known for his amazing memory, his knack for telling stories and his laughter and sense of humor. He was never critical, always an excellent listener, extremely generous and had many close friends. Larry always liked fun and happy events, and loved and truly enjoyed his family. Larry was preceded in death by his brother Gary and parents Art and June. Larry is survived by his sister Dianne Wistoski (husband Bob) of Tacoma, WA and their daughter Kayla (husband Capt. Michael) Morales and daughter Emma, of Wichita, KS; nephew Dean Gaasland (wife Joan and their children Courtney and Ciarra of Vancouver, WA; cousin Robert Scrimsher (wife Terri) of Sedro Woolley, WA, and cousins Ron and Dean of Bellingham. A Celebration of Larry's Life will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Friday, December 8 at 11 a.m. with Rev. No. 31; Bellingham Rebekah Lodge No. 43; Ladies' Encampment Auxiliary Patriarchs Militant; Past Noble Grand Society; the Rebekah Sewing Club; Rebekah Garden Club; Sons and Daughters of Norway; St. Luke's Assistance League. Surviving relatives include her husband, Andrew; two sons, Roy and Raymond; one grandson, Peter Gaasland, all of Bellingham; two brothers, Neil McLeod, Wiser Lake, and Don McLeod, Bellingham; four sisters, Mrs. M. GAASLAND, Raymond G., 62, 3216 Vallette St., died today (Dec. 16, 1971). He was a life time resident of Bellingham. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Westford Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Bay View Cemetery. Mr. Gaasland was secretary-treasurer of the Gaasland Construction Co., and Builders Concrete, Inc. He was a member of the Bellingham Yacht Club, Central Lions Club, Birchwood Garden Club, Elks Club 194, and Congregational Church. Mr. Gaasland was a veteran of World War II. He is survived by the wife, Ruth, and several nephews and nieces.
GAASLAND, Ruth Helen - A funeral for Ruth Helen Gaasland of Bellingham will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at First Congregational Church with the Revs. Donel McClellan and Cynthia Bauleke officiating. Private burial will be in Bayview Cemetery. Mrs. Gaasland died Friday, Jan. 31, 1997. She was 94. Born Sept. 16, 1902, to Amalia and Robert Morgenthaler in Seattle, she graduated from Bellingham High School in 1921. She married Raymond Gaasland in 1943 in Bellingham. Mrs. Gaasland was a member of United Church of Christ, Bellingham Garden Club, Elks Club, Bellingham Golf and Country Club, Bellingham Yacht Club and Royal Neighbors. She enjoyed flowers and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1971. Survivors include sister Gertrude Wing of Steilacoom, three nephews and 10 grandnephews. Arrangements are by Westford Funeral Home.
GABBATO, Antonieta, age 63 of Rt. 2 Blaine, passed away suddenly Friday, March 11, (1966). A resident of Blaine since 1921 she was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church and the Hayne Grange. Surviving are her husband Carl, a son Guilio of Sumas, 2 daughters, Mrs. Ida Brann and Mrs. Olga Church, both of Blaine. Also 8 grandchildren. Holy Rosary will be held at the McKinney Funeral Home Monday March 14 at 8:45 p.m. with Requiem Mass in St. Anne's Church Tuesday, March 15 at 10:00 a.m. with Father John O'Sullivan celebrant. Burial will follow in the Blaine Cemetery.
GABEL, Iretta of 308 W. Champion St., died Tuesday, May 4, 1993. She was 58. A funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Jerns & LeVeck Funeral Chapel in Bellingham. Burial will follow at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale. Born Dec. 23, 1934, in Moline, Ill, she moved to Bellingham in 1985 from Cave City, Ore. She enjoyed embroidery and making sock dolls. She died Tuesday (March 29, 1988) in Bellingham. Born Aug. 29, 1900, in Dowagiac, Mich., she was active with the American Red Dross and Girl Scouts of America, She also gardened and played bridge. Her husband George Gabler died in 1950. Mrs. Gabler is survived by two sons, Rod Gabler of Guemes Island and Paul Gabler of Chicago; a daughter, Georgia Powers of La Conner; a brother, William H. Baldwin of Scottsdale, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
GABOURY, Frank, age 89, of 1015 Indian Street, passed away in a local hospital late Wednesday, June 22, (1949) following a short illness. Mr. Gaboury was a retired Colorado gold miner, and had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 19 years. He leaves no known survivors. Funeral services will be conducted within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home Saturday, June 25 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas Allport, pastor of St. Mark's Lutheran Church officiating. Cremation.
GABRIELSEN, Hans, age 69 of 2015 G St. He was born in Norway and was a veteran of WWII, and a member of V.F.W. Post No. 1585. Surviving is one brother, Einar Gabrielsen of Richmond, B.C. GABRIELSON, Agnes M., died Monday, Feb. 22, 1993, at Alderwood Park Convalescent Center. She was 87. No services will be held. Burial will be in Greenacres Memorial Park. Mrs. Gabrielson was born Feb. 17, 1906, in Pennsylvania to Eugene and Minnie Dickinson. She was one of five children, all of whom preceded her in death. She married George Gabrielson in 1946. For may years, they traveled to Alaska in their boat and fished commercially. He preceded her in death in 1991. She worked at Cascade Laundry & Diaper Service and also was a care giver for many families in Bellingham. Survivors include brother-in-law Lee Bauter; nephews Ivan Bauter and Clarence and Ralph Dickinson; nieces Shirley Nettles and Bette Tretwold; and special friends Wanda Hall and Ruth Swenson.
GABRIELSON, Elmer - Redmond resident Elmer Gabrielson died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1992, in Redmond. He was 87. At his request, no services will be held. Born July 9, 1905, in Stanwood, he worked as a commercial fisherman. Mr. Gabrielson, a former Bellingham resident, is survived by his wife, Ellen, of the family home. GABRIELSON, George M. 7-20-1897 to 9-15-1991. Born in McMurray, WA. He was a truck driver for Bloedel-Donovan in his early years, later became a commercial fisherman until retirement. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing into his eighties. He was preceded in death by son, Duane and brother, Martin. He leaves his wife, Agnes; brother, Elmer; brother-in-law Lee Bauter, nephews Gordon and Bryan Gabrielson, Ivan Bauter, Clarence and Ralph Dickinson; nieces, Shirley Nettles, Bette Tretwold, Good friends, Gayle and Bob Koker, along with many others. He was a member of the Church of the Assumption and the Culinary & Beverage Workers Union. Survived by his wife, Grace; 2 sons, Laurence of Carmichael, Calif.; John of Bellingham; 1 daughter, Mrs. W. S. Peterson, city; 9 grandchildren; three brothers, William of Tacoma; Troy of Grays Harbor and Jack of Los Angeles; one sister, Mrs. Artemes Smith of Los Angeles. GADWA, Grace Mae of Bellingham, died December 19, 1994 at the age of 88. She was born May 15, 1906 to Sophia and Jefferson Johnston in Acequa (sic), Idaho. The family moved to Kirkland, WA in 1915 where as a young woman she worked as a secretary for a Seattle attorney. Grace married Edward Joseph Gadwa November 27, 1924. In 1933 they and their three children moved to Bellingham. Grace was a private, quiet person, very strong in her Christian beliefs. She enjoyed music, flowers and hand work, excelling in embroidery and crocheting. Everything she did she did very well, devoting her life to her family and her home. In her younger years she was active in the Women's Alter Society of the Assumption Church and volunteered to help with the activities program at the Alderwood Park Convalescent Center. Grace was preceded in death by her husband in 1966 and her son Laurence Gadwa in 1993. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Walbert Peterson of Bellingham; her son and daughter-in-law, John and Sandra Gadwa of Lynden; a brother, James W. Johnston of San Diego, CA; a sister, Anne Roberts of San Antonio, TX; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Westford Funeral Home Friday, December 23, 1994 at 11 a.m.

He was born Oct. 5, 1925, in Aberdeen to Edward and Grace Gadwa. The family moved to Bellingham in 1930, where he lived until 1957. Mr. Gadwa was a World War II veteran, serving in the South Pacific. Survivors include his wife, Helen, of the family home; his mother of Bellingham; sons Michael F. Gadwa and Daniel E. Gadwa, both of Sacramento, Calif.; sister Lois Peterson of Bellingham; brother John Gadwa of Ferndale; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
GADWA, Sandra Ann of Lynden, Washington, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2006. Sandy was born in Bellingham on April 16, 1932 and was 74 years old. Sandy was a very supportive wife and loved reading, learning by computer, and her teddy bear collection. She will be greatly missed by her husband of almost 56 years, John; children: Michelle (Carl) Cooper, Pamela (Randy) Koehn, Keri Taber; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service in Sandy's honor will be held Tuesday, December 12 at 1 p.m. at Grace Baptist Fellowship, Lynden. Pastor Delaine Bailey will officiate. Moles Family Funeral Home, Lynden.

Sister Carmel was born April 3, 1904, in Keadue Rosecommon, Ireland. She was a nurse all her adult life. She had worked at St. Joseph in 1934-38 as nursing supervisor, and in 1941-46 as anesthesia and nursing supervisor. She is survived by a sister and a brother. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary Probincialate Chapel, 1663 Killarney Way, Bellevue. Burial will follow at 10 a.m. Friday in Holy Rood Cemetery, Seattle. Arrangements are by Butterworth-Manning-Ashmore Funeral Home, Seattle.
GAFFNEY, Frances - A graveside service for Frances Gaffney of Bellingham will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Greenacres Memorial Park. Mrs. Gaffney died Thursday, Sept. 12, 1996, at St. Joseph Hospital. She was 93. Born Jan. 18, 1903 to John and Elizabeth Smith in Whitehaven, England, she moved to Whatcom County in 1913. She married Thomas Gaffney in 1920 in Bellingham; he preceded her in death in 1979. Mrs. Gaffney enjoyed reading, needlework and gardening. Survivors include sons Cliff Gaffney of Bellevue and Thomas H. Gaffney of Walla Walla, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Arrangements are by Westford Funeral home.

Sister Stanslaus was in the Order of St. Joseph of Newark for 56 years and came to Nelson, B.C. in 1900 where she taught in St. Joseph's Academy for 30 years, until her retirement several years ago. She leaves to survive two sisters, Mrs. James K. Oakman, of Audubon, New Jersey; Sister Joseph Marie of Jersey City, New Jersey; one brother, Thomas Gaffney, also of Audubon; also numerous other relatives. Requiem Mass will be in the chapel of St. Joseph's Hospital on Tuesday, May 14 at 9:30 a.m. with the Chaplain as celebrant. Interment will be in Bayview Cemetery under the direction of Bingham and Jerns Funeral Home.
GAFFNEY, Thomas Howard, age 80, of Walla Walla, WA, died April 23, 2003 in the Garrison Creek Lodge in Walla Walla, WA. Thomas was born on August 20, 1922 in Bellingham, WA to Thomas and Frances Smith Gaffney. Thomas graduated from Bellingham High School, attended Western Washington University and graduated from San Francisco State University and received his Masters Degree from Stanford University. He was a Physical Therapist. He married, Bette Irelan, and they were married on November 15, 1957 in Bellingham, WA. He is survived by his daughter, Julia Davis of Walla Walla, WA; his brother, Clifford Gaffney of Bellevue, WA; his close friends, Marci Perkins of Waitsburg, WA; Kellie Williams and Karen Hanson, both of Walla Walla, WA; numerous cousins; niece, Merrilee Johnson of Chico, CA, nephew, Kyle Gaffney of Bellevue, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Bette Gaffney, and nephew, Kevin Gaffney. He was a member of the following organizations: Elks Lodge #287, the American Arthritis Foundation, Washington State Registered Physical Therapist Assn., and the Stanford Alumni Assn. Mrs. Gage, the widow of the late George E. Gage, had resided here the past fifty-five years and was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Surviving relatives are one daughter, Mrs. Victor Roth; one granddaughter, Mrs. Jacob Ladd Smith; two great-grandchildren, Marguerite Gage Smith and Jacob Ladd Smith Jr., all of this city, and a sister, Mrs. Arthur Buriff, Mount Pleasant, Iowa. GAGE, Lucile Gardner – Born Violet Lucile Gardner on June 19, 1915 in Sioux Falls, SD, "Luci" passed away in the home of her daughter Jill-Karen Pulst, on April 30, 2006. Luci was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Harmond Winfield Gage, and son, Mischa Kenneth Gage. Friday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Rev. John Gibbs officiating. The body will be cremated. Mrs. Gagne died Monday (Nov. 28, 1988) at a Bellingham hospital. She was born Oct. 25, 1897, in Felida, Wash., and moved to Bellingham in 1916, the same year she was graduating from the old Bellingham Normal School. Mrs. Gagne was a schoolteacher for eight years. she was a member of the Protestant-Episcopal Church of America, Order of Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution and American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Gagne had been a 48-year resident of this community and was a member of the Church of Assumption. GAGNON, Lawrence J. - A memorial gathering for Lawrence J. "Larry" Gagnon will be at 1 p.m. Saturday on the beach near his Sandy Point home. A memorial Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Seattle. Mr. Gagnon died Wednesday, July 6, 1994, at his home. He was 44. Born June 3, 1950, to Charles W. and Donna J. Gagnon in Seattle, he served one tour of duty in the U.S. Navy aboard aircraft carriers. A refinery pipe fitter for the past 20 years, he was a member of Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers International Union Local I-590. He was a licensed pilot and enjoyed golf, fishing and children. He was preceded in death by brother Cory S. Gagnon. Survivors include his parents of Seattle; brother Kyle R. Gagnon of Seattle; sister Corinne M. Dumas of Bothell; and four nephews.

GAGNON, Park, 917 17th St., died Monday, January 1, (1973). He was a manager of the Bellingham Elks for 30 years and a member of the Anacortes Eagles. He practiced in Lynden and in Beatty, Idaho for a number of years. He was born August 29, 1911 in Cumberland, OH, to Bert and Gladys (Garber) Gaither. Mr. Gaither was Chief of the Federal Aviation Agency's Data Processing section for the Pacific Region. He wrote the technical maintenance manual for Plan 59 Fully Automatic Switching System located in the Diamond Head Crater at Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii. He retired after 24 years of service and moved to Bellingham, WA. Preceded in death by his parents Bert and Gladys Gaither, a brother Robert Gaither, and a sister Thelma Gaither Obenhofer. Survived by a sister Lillian Gaither Englert of Leona Valley, CA, two nieces Ginger McDonald of Hillsboro, OR, and Karol Barkley of Tacoma, WA. GALBRAITH, Alvin A., age 53, of Darrington, passed away Sept. 19, (1984). He was born March 17, 1931 in Bellingham and lived in Acme until 1960 when he moved to Darrington where he and his brother owned and operated Galbraith Logging Co. He was a member of Arlington Lodge 129 F & AM and Nile Temple of Shrine. He is survived by his wife Jean, four daughters, Michelle Hyatt of Marysville, Melissa Holiman of Stanwood, Kimberly Broten of Tacoma and Jodie Galbraith of Mukilteo; his mother Pauline Galbraith of Acme; two brothers, Vernon of Mt. Vernon and Jim of Acme; a sister, Mary Lee Johnson, of Bow. There are two grandsons. Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 24 in the First Baptist Church of Darrington. Graveside services were at Saxon Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Weller Funeral Home in Arlington.

GALBRAITH, Iva Gertrude, a longtime Acme area resident died peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 22, 1997. She was 82 years of age. She was born on February 16, 1915 in Sauk, Washington, the daughter of Elisha G. "Happy" & Hattie Bronson Ellison. She attended grade schooll in Sauk and graduated from Concrete High School. She attended the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, (BIOLA) graduating in 1948. From high school & college days she taught Sunday school with the American Sunday School Union under Charles Kraus at various places in Whatcom & Skagit counties. She was united in marriage to John Rhodes Galbraith, whom she loved for almost 49 year, on July 30, 1948 in Sedro-Woolley and they lived in their "honeymoon" home in Acme. She loved her husband, family & home. Enjoyed caring for her vegetable & flower gardens and making nature trails through the woods. She was also a charter member of the Faith Baptist Church in Burlington. She is survived by her husband, Rhodes, at the family home in Acme. Two daughters & sons-in-law, Lois & Don Thorndike of Pendleton, Oregon and Eunice & Paul Wingert of Acme. 4 sisters, Sylvia Poldervart, Doris Long, Florence Hockett & Lorna Gustafson. 1 brother, Thomas H. Ellison. Six grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 sister, Effie Ellison. Funeral Services will be held Thursday June 26, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. at the Faith Baptist Church in Burlington. Dr. James W. Shaw officiating. Interment will follow at the Saxon Cemetery. GALBRAITH, James Dale, age 58, a lifelong Acme resident, died at United General Hospital in Sedro Woolley on Saturday, August 18, (1990) following an extended illness. He was born in Bellingham on May 8, 1932, a son of Hugh and Pauline Galbraith. He had been employed as a logging company bookkeeper. His marriage to Nancy Grimes took place in Bellingham on Sept. 22, 1951. Jim was a member and past master of the Nooksack Valley Masonic Lodge #105 and was presently serving as the lodge secretary. He was a member and elder of the Acme Presbyterian Church and served on the Mount Baker School Board for 12 years. He was also a trustee of the Acme Water Association and served on the Saxon Cemetery Board. Memorial services for Jimmy Dale Galbraith will be at the Acme Presbyterian Church on Thursday, August 23, at 1 p.m. Rev. Sharon Hare will officiate. Cremation was at the Mount Vernon Crematory under the direction of the Lemley Chapel. Inurnment will be in the family plot at the Saxon Cemetery. Mr. Galbraith is survived by his wife, Nancy, at the family home; three sons, Jay of Los Angeles, Jesse and wife Sara of Acme, and David and wife Nancy of Deming; a brother, Vernon Galbraith of Mount Vernon; a sister, Mary Lee Johnson of Bow; his mother, Pauline Galbraith of Acme; four granddaughters and three grandsons. GALBRAITH, Pauline, 89, lifetime resident of the Acme community, died Sunday, Aug. 28, 1994 at Burton Nursing Home in Burlington. She was born July 30, 1905 at Helmsville, Mont., one of three children of James and Lucy Betts. She came to Acme with her parents at age 6 weeks, attended school at Acme and graduated from Mount Baker High School in 1924. Her marriage to Hugh R. Galbraith took place in Bellingham in 1925 and the family home has been at Acme since that time. Mr. Galbraith preceded his wife in death in 1973. Mrs. Galbraith was a member of the Acme Presbyterian Church and the Dorcas Circle. She was an avid doll collector with her collection numbering nearly 2,000 dolls. Survivors include son Vernon and wife Patricia Galbraith of Mount Vernon; daughter Mary Lea and husband Ron Johnson of Edison; a sister, Hazel Collart of Mount Vernon; sister-in-law Eva Betts of Everett; two daughters-in-law, Jean Galbraith of Darrington and Nancy Galbraith of Acme; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons Alvin and James Galbraith; grandson Daniel Galbraith; and brother Roy Betts. Graveside services will be conducted today at the Saxon Cemetery. Rev. Joe Kutzke of the Edison Lutheran Church will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro Woolley.

GALBRAITH, Stuart Daniel, 25, of 4926 Turkington Road, Acme, died Tuesday (Dec. 30, 1986) in his home. He was born June 21, 1961, in Bellingham and had been a lifetime resident of Acme. Mr. Galbraith was a member of the Acme Presbyterian Church and was active in the logging industry. He graduated from Mount Baker High School in 1979. He is survived by his parents, James and Nancy Galbraith of Acme; three brothers, Jesse and David Galbraith of Acme, and Jay of Los Angeles; a grandmother, Mrs. Hugh Galbraith of Acme; four nieces and two nephews. GALBRAITH, Victor H., age 78, of Acme, passed away in Vaughn, Wash., Wednesday, Aug. 26, (1959). GALLAGHER, Feben Joseph - F. J. "Barney" Gallagher died Saturday, May 15, 1993 at his home in Oak Harbor. He was 87. No services will be held. He was born March 14, 1906 in San Francisco to Feben and Phoebe Kelly Gallagher. Mr. Gallagher met Laura Eylander in Bellingham; they were married in 1959. He worked at Georgia-Pacific Corp.'s pulp processing plant in Bellingham for 43 years, retiring in June 1970. He lived in Oak Harbor the past four years. Mr. Gallagher was preceded in death by his wife on Sept. 4, 1992. He is survived by sons Gerrit Biesheuvel of Oak Harbor and Richard Gallagher of Texas; daughters Karen Brown of Oak Harbor and Barbara Franklin of Knotts Island, NC; brothers Glen McDonald of Bellingham and Allen McDonald of Toppenish; sisters Pat Martin, Birdie Nipper, Bebe Bice, all of Bellingham, and Maudine Harrington of Spokane; 22 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Oak Park, Ill., on Sept. 15, 1904, he attended the University of Chicago and graduated from Knox College, Galesburg, Ill. He moved to Washington in 1928, where he followed a banking career in Port Angeles, Seattle, Centralia and Bellingham. During that time, he was active in several community organizations, including hospitals, chambers of commerce, the YMCA and the Red Cross. He also was active in the Washington Bankers Association, and served as county chairman of the United States Savings Bond Committee in Lewis and Thurston counties. Following his retirement, his family moved to Tumwater. He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice, a daughter, a son, a sister and six grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Tumwater United Methodist Church.

He was born Feb. 22, 1932 in Seattle, WA to Felix and Sarah Gallaher. He married Beverly Jean Cramer on Apr. 26, 1958 in Bellingham, WA at The Assumption Church. He began his teaching career at Fall City, WA and spent most of this teaching years at Larrabee Grade school as principal and teacher. Mr. Gallaher completed his masters degree in Education at WWU in 1959. He was a member of the Assumption Church, Eucharistic Minister, Church Choir, and served in the U.S. Navy during 1950-1954 during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed painting, hiking, writing, photography, camping, was a Marine and Vulgart artist, and enjoyed working as a YMCA Day Vamp Director. He is survived by his wife Beverly of the family home; three sons, Patrick Gallaher of Bellingham, Tom Gallaher and fiance Carol Redmon of Marysville, and Stephen Gallaher and wife Kim of Seattle; a daughter, Deborah Gallaher of Seattle; his mother, Sarah Nichols of Sacramento, CA; grandmother, Dela Laventure of Sacramento, CA; a brother, Robert Gallaher and wife Carmela of Tacoma; aunt Jackie Williams of Sacramento, CA; father-in-law, Mrs. & Mrs. Ted Cramer of Bellingham; a brother in law, Bill Cramer and wife Gloria of Bellingham; two grandchildren; two nieces. GALLANGER, Herbert J. "Bert" 73, who was born and grew up on Lopez Island, died in Portland, Ore., Thursday (Sept. 8, 1983). He graduated from Bellingham Normal School (now Western Washington University) in 1932 and attended the University of Washington. He taught high school at Anacortes and Ilwaco. In 1956, he and his wife, Lea, moved to Rockaway, Ore., where they operated a motel and worked for a school district. He was a member of Occident Lodge 99, F & AM, and of the Elks in Tillamook, Ore. Survivors include his wife, a brother and a sister.
GALLANT, Beatrice B., age 86 of 2100 Electric Ave., Bellingham, passed away in a local hospital Aug. 26, 1989. She was born March 12, 1903 in Anacortes and moved to Bellingham in 1925. GALLANT, John S., age 58 of 20005 13th Place N.W., Seattle, WA passed away Dec. 31, 1993. He was born Aug. 2, 1935 in Bellingham to John and Beatrice Gallant and moved to Seattle in 1970. He attended the Catholic Church; was a member of the Broadmore Golf Club and past president of the College Club. He has been in the insurance business for over 25 years. He enjoyed golfing and took part in a number of tournaments and the tournament for the Lung Association. He is survived by his wife, Diane Gallant, of Seattle and his son, John Tres Gallant of Seattle; one niece and five nephews. GALLEY, Donna L. of 211 Kentucky St., died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 1994, at St. Joseph Hospital after a long struggle with diabetes. She was 47. Services will be held in Idaho. Born Feb. 5, 1947, to Leo and Mary Nearing McLeod in Kellogg, Idaho, she moved to Bellingham in 1986. She married Ron Galley on Dec. 9, 1986, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Survivors include her husband of the family home, son Leroy McLeod of Idaho and sister Carol Ormsher of Coeur d'Alene. Arrangements are by Westford Funeral Home.
GALLEY, Elsie E., age 74 years, of 1599 Meridian Road, passed away Thursday, November 29, (1951) in a local hospital following a lingering illness. Mrs. Galley had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 50 years and was a member of the Church of Truth. She is survived by her husband, Marion; two sons, Leroy and Clarke, both of Bellingham; three daughters, Mrs. John Gilson and Mrs. Elva Farquharson, both of Bellingham, and Mrs. Opal Long, of Oregon; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, December 3, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home with the Rev. Margaret W. Kupfer, pastor of the Church of Truth, officiating. Interment, Greenacres Memorial Park.
GALLEY, Francis Marion, age 85, who resided at 1599 Meridian St., passed away in a local hospital, Thursday, Oct. 23, (1958) following a lingering illness. Mr. Galley had resided in Bellingham for the past 54 years and was a member of the Church of Truth. He was married to Elsie Wright in Kansas City, Mo., on March 29, 1897, and came to Bellingham in 1904 and was a retired engineer in the mill and lumber industry. He leaves to survive one son, LeRoy S. Galley; three daughters, Mrs. Elva Thompson, Mrs. Ruth Gilson and Mrs. Opal Long, also 11 grandchildren, all residing in Bellingham. Dr. Margaret Whitney Kupper will officiate at funeral services on Monday, Oct. 27, at 2 p.m. within the Chapel of the Bingham & Jerns Funeral Home. Interment Greenacres.

GALLEY, Mary Lee - A memorial service for long-time Bellingham resident Mary Lee Galley, 90, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Bellingham. Mrs. Galley, 5280 Northwest Road, died Tuesday (Jan. 30, 1990) at Mt. Baker Care Center. She was born April 9, 1899, in Fort Worth, Texas and lived in Whatcom County for the past 50 years. Her husband, Leroy S. Galley, died in 1969. Mrs. Galley was a member of First Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter June L. Grinstead of Bellingham; three sons, Leroy S. Galley Jr., and Les Galley, both of Bellingham, and Tom Riddle of Ukiah, Calif.; a sister Harriet Gallagher of Fort Worth; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Burial will take place during a private family service at Greenacres Memorial Park. The Revs. Keith Madsen and Ben Pruett will officiate at the memorial service. She was born in Lansford, ND on July 20, 1917 to Katherine (Fry) and William Geyer. Verbena grew up in Minot, ND and graduated from Model Minot High in 1936. She moved to Bellingham in 1938 where she met and married Clark Galley that same year. Verbena worked at the Alpine Cafeteria for over 20 years, and she worked as a housekeeper at Rosewood Villa for 10 years, retiring in 1989. She loved working in her yard, playing Bingo with friends, and being with her family. Verbena is survived by three sons, Ron Galley (Barbara) of Bellingham, Clark Galley of Seattle, and Ken Galley of Anacortes; daughter, Judy Radder (Bill) of Bellingham; one grandson; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clark in 1957; six brothers; four sisters; and one granddaughter. The family wishes to express its gratitude to the staff at Mt. Baker Care Center, for their loving and excellent care of Verbena. A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 14, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Greenacres Memorial Park. Mr. Gallman had resided in this community for the past 24 years, and at the time of his death, was employed as a dairy worker for Glen Whitney. Previously, he had worked for Puget Sound Pulp & Timber Co. for 14 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No. 31. Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Ethel Gallman, at the family home; son, S.F.F. Merle Gallman, with the U.S. Army at El Paso, Texas; a daughter, Miss Marlene Gallman, at home; his father, John Gallman Sr., of Menomonie, Wisc; five brothers, Reinhold, Walter, John Jr., Gearhardt, and Rudolph, all in Wisconsin; two sisters, Mrs. Irene Brostwich, and Mrs. Charlotte Nightengale, both in Wisconsin; and many nephews and nieces. He is survived by his wife Lillian C. Galloway, her six children and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his six children from his first wife Gladene Berger, sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Frank was a WWII Veteran, an active member of the Lions Club until a few years ago, and an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mrs. Galloway, a registered nurse, died Thursday (Jan. 3, 1991) of cancer at Ovelake Hospital in Bellevue. Mrs. Galloway was born on Oct. 23, 1932, in Bellingham to Charles and Mona Smith. She attended grade school and high school in Bellingham and received her nursing degree from St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham. In 1953, she moved to Seattle and in 1964 she moved to Bellevue. Mrs. Galloway worked at the Doctor's Hospital in Seattle for 14 years. She was active in the Mount Si Women's Golf Club and the greater Seattle Women's Golf Association. Survivors include a husband, Don Galloway of Bellevue; a son, Cory Galloway of Redmond; a daughter Jana Galloway of Bellevue; and a brother Duane Smith of Bellingham. Arrangements are by Green's Bellevue Funeral Home.
GALLOWAY, Paul Becker, of 130 Garfield St., Sumas, passed away in a Bellingham hospital on Saturday, Nov. 11, 1989, at the age of 74. A funeral service was held in the Chapel of Gillies Funeral Home on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 10 a.m. with Father Tim McKenna of St. Joseph's Catholic Church officiating. Burial followed at Columbia Valley Cemetery. Mr. Galloway was born in Yucca, North Dakota, on July 6, 1915, a son of Sam and Rose (Becker) Galloway. Paul moved with his family as a small child to British Columbia in 1916 and then to Whatcom County in 1928. He worked as a laborer for Galloway Feed for many years and attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lynden. His sister, Genevieve Carr, died in 1973. Survivors include a brother, Cap Galloway of Sumas, and many nieces and nephews.
GALLUP, George B., 85, passed away Thursday (December 11, 1941) at the home of his son, Clarence E. Gallup, 2620 Orleans street, following a two months' illness. Mr. Gallup homesteaded in the Glacier district in 1907 and had been a resident of Bellingham for the past six years. Survivors, besides the son, Clarence, include one granddaughter, Mrs. William Smiley, city and one granddaughter and two grandsons in Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Harlow-Hollingsworth parlors, with Rev. James E. Milligan officiating. Cremation will follow.
GALLUP, Gesine, 409 York St., age 83, passed away Wednesday, July 3, (1974). A 75 year resident, Mrs. Gallup was a member of the Advent Christian Church. GALLUP, Hanford, age 73, of 1336 Grant Street, passed away at a local hospital Wednesday, April 4, (1951), following a short illness. Mr. Gallup had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 32 years and was a retired farmer. He was a 22-year member of the Eagles Lodge, Aerie No. 31. GALVIN, Garrett - The Rev. Garrett Calvin, a retired priest of the Archdioceses of Seattle who had served as a pastor and chaplain in Whatcom County, died Friday (Oct. 24, 1987). The Rev. Mr. Galvin, 87, lived in Seattle. Mass of Christian Burial will be today at St. Mary of the Valley Parish in Monroe. The body will be buried in the Priest's Plot of Seattle's Calvary Cemetery. From 1944 to 1949 he was pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Lynden. In 1968 until his retirement in 1970 he was a chaplain at St. Joseph Hospital. The Rev. Mr. Galvin was born Feb. 1, 1900 in Abbeyfeale, County Limerick, Ireland and attended Roscrea College before entering St. John's College Seminary in Wate[erfor]d in 1921. He was ordained on June __, 1927, in Waterford for the Diocese of Seattle, and came to the United States shortly after he was ordained. He served as curate, then pastor in several Washington cities during his career. The Rev. Mr. Galvin is survived by a sister, Margaret O'Connor of Abbeyfeale, Ireland.
GAMAGE, Helen J., of Bellingham, died suddenly at St. Joseph Hospital's South Campus on Sunday evening, Jan. 14, 1990, at the age of 68. She had been a resident of Bellingham since 1981. She was born on May 28, 1921, in Braddock, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Edmund S. and Ida (Cree) Holt. Mrs. Gamage was a registered nurse. She graduated from the Samuel Merritt Hospital School of Nursing in Oakland, Calif. During her many years of employment in the nursing profession, she worked in acute care hospitals in Seattle, Portland, and Oakland. She also worked as a public health nurse in Seattle, Oakland and Fremont, Calif. For 16 years prior to her retirement in 1980, she was employed as a school nurse in Livermore, Calif. She was a graduate of the University of California-Berkeley and later attended the University of Washington. She was a member of the Bellingham First Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Mrs. Gamage is survived by three sons, Richard Pitsker of Chico, Calif., David Pitsker of Hayward, Calif., and Steven Gamage of Bellingham; a daughter, Katherine Sandoval of Martinez, Calif; a sister Ruth Oliver of Fremont, Calif.; five grandchildren, one niece and one nephew. Local arrangements are being handled by Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. Interment will be in the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Concord, Calif., on Thursday, Jan. 18, with private services under the direction of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

(From The Bellingham Herald, 10 Jan 1989) Submitted by Merrily Lawson.GAMBLE, Alfred Jennings "Tom" went to his Lord and Savior on June 18, 2004. He was born June 26, 1916 in Jenny Lind, Arkansas to Harvey and Signora (Johnson) Gamble. Tom grew up in Jenny Lind, where at the age of 10, he went to work in the coal mines as a ponyboy. In 1937, he moved to Washington to work in the coal mines of Bellingham. In 1949, he was asked to go commercial fishing with his friend, Hank Brandt. Tom found that he loved the sea, and never returned to the mines. Tom fished for everything from tuna to salmon, from the Bering Sea in Alaska to Guadalupe Island off the coast of Mexico. Later he worked on the oil tankers and then as a mate for Foss Tug & Barge on their ocean going towboats. In March of 1968, an injury ended his working career, but not his enjoyment of life. He often said, "When you wake up, get up, and when you get up do something". Tom was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Bellingham 2nd Ward. He was a great joy to all who knew him. After services the children would run back to the last pew because they knew that Tom would be waiting with candy for them all. God bless you and guide you home. We will miss you Dad. Tom is preceded in death by his beloved wife of forty years, Thurza; his parents; brothers, Eugene Gamble, Harold Gamble; and sister, Louise Price. Tom is survived by his children, Tom E. Gamble of Arkansas, Margarette Elsbree of Bellingham, Tomia Prucher of Arlington, Roxie Pelton of Bellingham, Mason "Skip" Gamble of Ferndale, Lance Gamble of Texas; step-children, Susan Pickett of Oregon, Mark Gaskill of Bellingham, Janice Womack of Oregon, and Grant Gaskill of Ferndale; numerous precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. GAMBLE, Harlan - A former Whatcom County resident, Harlan Gamble of Vancouver, Washington passed away in that city, from Leukemia Feb. 8, 1981. Mr. Gamble moved here with his family in 1928 residing near Birch Bay and attending school here. When World War II broke out, he was drafted into the army air corp. serving four years, 2 years in Germany, radioing planes from the ground. After his return he worked for the co-op in Vancouver. He was preceded in death by his father, a sister and a brother. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Gamble of Vancouver, his mother Gladys Mote of Lynden, a brother LeRoy Thomas of Spokane, Washington, two sisters, Frances Morgan of Nooksack Washington, and Joyce Morgan of Lynden, Washington, numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins, and many friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday Feb. 10th 1981 at 10 a.m. at Memorial Gardens in Vancouver.

Mr. Gamble lived in Whatcom County for 24 years. He married Virginia Gamble, Aug 1, 1972 in Bellingham. He enjoyed fishing, camping and bowling. GAMBLE, Thurza Dee, age 75, passed away on June 2, 2003, at home with her family and friends surrounding her. She was born April 20, 1928, in Bellingham, Washington to Genevieve Carrie Durham of Minot, North Dakota and Grant Robert Nugent of Lummi Island, Washington. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She grew up in Bellingham and Lummi Island. She attended school in Bellingham and Ferndale. She worked as a telephone operator for AT&T. She worked as a film editor for KVOS TV and was a switchboard operator for Western Washington University until she retired at the age of 62 in the year of 1989. Thurza is survived by her husband, Alfred Jennings (Tom) Gamble and her daughter, Genevieve Susan Pickett and husband John P. Pickett son, Mark Richard Gaskill daughter, Janice Marie Womack and husband David Womack son, Grant Roderick Gaskill and wife Susan Dell Gaskill son, Mason Harvey (Skip) Gamble and wife Tammy Jo Gamble son, Lance Allen Gamble and wife Pamela Rebecca Gamble son, Tom Earl Gamble and wife Thelma Louise Gamble and 67 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. June was born in Bellingham on June 4, 1928, to Matthew and Pearl Balfour. She was raised in North Bellingham, and graduated from Ferndale High School. She had been employed for many years by the Bellingham Public Schools as a secretary, working at both Shuksan Middle School and Bellingham High School. June was an accomplished musician. She used her musical gifts in a variety of ways, from teaching piano to numerous students over the years to directing church choirs. She was the founding director of the Templeaires, a youth choir which thrived during the late sixties and seventies at Calvary Temple in Bellingham. She also was pianist, organist and director of the sanctuary choir at Calvary Temple for many years, and served as well at Ferndale Assembly of God. During the fifties, she and her sister, Devona Gamlen, organized a children's ministry, which they brought to many churches throughout the region. June is survived by her three children: Heidi Kuzina (Paul) of Oak Harbor, Jill Fox (Jim) of Ferndale and Paul Michael Gamlen (Janell) of Port Orchard; seven grandchildren: Korie Taylor (John) in Indonesia, Holly Priestman (Matt) of Lynden and Kylie Green (Ryan) of Fallon, NV; Brenton Fox (Amy) of Ferndale, Adam Fox (Erica) of Spokane and Andy Fox (Stephanie) of Chewelah and Shantell Gamlen of Port Orchard; nine great-grandchildren: Ellia Taylor, Annalise Priestman, Ariana and Colton Fox, Mikayla, Gabriella and Tyler Fox, Josiah and Jillea Fox; also, numerous other relatives, including niece Julee Taxdahl of Ferndale (who was like a sister to June), niece Marcia Ellis and nephew Doug Gamlen, both of Portland, OR, and their families. She was loved by those who cared for her at Regency on Whidbey in Oak Harbor and Grace Adult Family Home in Ferndale. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Genther (1986) and Devona Gamlen (2007), and by twin great-granddaughters, Madison Faith and Taylor Grace Priestman (2006). Visitation will be Thurs., Dec. 3, from 5-8 p.m. and Fri., Dec. 4, from 9-11:30 a.m. at Moles Funeral Home, 2039 Main St., Ferndale. A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, 2:00 p.m. at Whatcom New Life Assembly, 2290 Main Street, Ferndale, Pastors Arlen Benson and Billy Farrar officiating. The service will be preceded by a private family graveside service at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Moles Funeral Home in Ferndale. Services of commemoration will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Enterprise Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at New Life Fellowship, 810 E. Pole Road, in Lynden with the Rev. Ronald Slater and the Rev. Paul Beck co-officiating. Mrs. Gamlen was born Aug. 7, 1934, in Seattle, to Richard and Opal Trumbull. She attended schools on Whidbey Island and graduated from Coupeville High School. She received her bachelor's degree in McMinnville, Ore., a master's degree from Oberlin College in Ohio and her doctorate degree in mathematics from Washington State University. She taught high school in Mount Vernon and also at the junior college level. She came to Western Washington University in 1967, where she was a professor of mathematics for 23 years until her medical retirement. She married John Gamlen on Nov. 26, 1975, in Lynden. He survives her at the family home. Mrs. Gamlen was a charter member of New Life Fellowship and also attended Rome Community Chapel. She was an active member of the Everson Lions Club. Other survivors include daughter Opal Kathleen Scott of Eureka, Calif.; brothers William Trumbull of Oak Harbor and Richard Trumbull of New York City; one grandson; and several foster children. Burial will be at Greenacres Memorial Park. He died Saturday (Sept. 8, 1973). Gammell was a road employee for Whatcom County, a member of the Rome Grange for many years and attended Calvary Temple. Survivors are: the wife Katherin at home; one daughter, Edna Austin of Hood River, Ore.; a sister, Florence Moline, Bellingham; two grandsons; and two great-grandchildren, and a cousin, Donald Horton of Oklahoma City.

Mrs. Gammon had resided in this community for the past 48 years and was a member of the Cannery Workers Union Local No. 803. Surviving relatives include the husband, Jess L. at home; one son, Robert of Bellingham; two daughters, Mrs. Norma Elsner of this city and Mrs. Jeanne Heuett of Moab, Utah; 12 grandchildren; five brothers, Fred McCorkle of Port Angeles, Carl of Spenard, Alaska, Gordon of Seattle, Joe of Bellingham, and Arnold in Oregon; four sisters, Mrs. Lyda Fleming of Port Angeles, Mrs. Edna Farrer and Mrs. Shirley Wells of Poulsbo, and Mrs. Josephine Warsop of Portland, Ore.; numerous nieces and nephews. GAMMON, Ira M., age 77, of 4405 Prior Street, passed away in a local hospital Saturday, January 17, (1948). Mr. Gammon had resided in this community for the past 43 years and was a member of the Methodist Church. Surviving relatives are one son, Jess Leroy; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of Bellingham; two sisters, Mrs. Ola Hays, of Los Angeles, Calif. and Mrs. Myra Peters, of Leavenworth, Kansas. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where private services will be conducted by the Rev. Alexander P. Alton, Wednesday, January 21, at 12 noon. Cremation.
GAMMON, Minnie, age 67 years, 4425 Prior Street, passed away at a local hospital, Thursday, October 16, (1947). Mrs. Gammon had resided here the past forty-three years and was a member of the Methodist Church. Surviving relatives are the husband, Ira M., at home; one son, Jess Leroy, this city; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs Helen and Edith Clark, at Corning, Kan., Mrs. Frank Still, Bellingham, and Mrs. Mae Tindall, at Seattle; two brothers, Frank McMullen, at San Francisco and Clarence McMullen at Corning, Kan. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth.
GAMPP, Anna M., age 74, passed away at her home in Seattle Wednesday, December 18, (1946). Mrs. Gampp had resided in that city for the past few months and was formerly a resident of this community for fifteen years. Deceased was a member of the Garden Street Methodist Church, the Fidelis Circle, and the Pythian Sisters. Surviving relatives are one daughter, Mrs. Irene Hatfield and three grandchildren, all of Bellingham. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. Roy L. Smith, Friday, December 20, at 3 p.m. Cremation.
GAMPP, Carl E. - Burial services for Carl E. Gampp, 71, Ferndale, were held Friday in Greenacres Memorial Park. He died Wednesday, July 5, (1972). Mr. Gampp had lived in Ferndale for 10 years and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Seattle. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Edna F. Cahalan of San Diego and a cousin, Mrs. Irene Hatfield of Bellingham. Burial was under the direction of Moles Funeral Home.
(From The Ferndale Record)GAMWELL, Roland Greene, age 95, passed away at the family home, 1001 16th St. Friday, May 8, (1959). Mr. Gamwell had been a resident of this community for the past 70 years; was a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and had for many years before his retirement maintained a real estate and insurance office which was located at 1231 State St. As a civic minded individual, Mr. Gamwell was interested in the development of the city parks and was well-known for his rose gardens. Mr. Gamwell assisted in the founding of Bellingham Lodge No. 194, B.P.O. Elks, and was second Exalted Ruler of that Lodge, as well as having served the state and grand lodge in various capacities. Socially, Mr. Gamwell was a Charter Member of the Bellingham Golf & Country club, and was a member of the Hobby Club and Rotary Club of Bellingham. Surviving relatives are one daughter, Mrs. Hester G. Hyatt of Vancouver, B.C.; two grandchildren, Mr. Glen C. Hyatt, Jr. of Vancouver, B.C. and Mrs. Carol Thacher Dauben of Berkley (sic), Calif.; two great grandchildren, Misses Barbara and Ann Dauben also of Berkley; one sister, Mrs. Olive Weeden of Providence, R.I. and one cousin, Mrs. Virginia Erickson of Bellingham. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where Ritualistic services will be conducted by the Officers of Bellingham Lodge No. 194, B.P.O. Elks, Tuesday, May 12, at 1:00 p.m. Cremation.
