LARSEN, Ada J., 83, of Camano Island passed away August 24, 1994. She was born March 18, 1911 on Camano Island. She married Svend Larsen in 1932. They made their home in Bellingham from 1941 until 1958 where they owned and operated Larson Logging Co. Svend preceded her in death in 1977. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 29, 1994 at Camano Lutheran Church, 850 N. Heichel Rd. & S.R. #532 Camano Island. Arrangements under the direction of Gilbertson Funeral Home, Stanwood, WA.

LARSEN, Albert M., age 54 years, passed away Friday, January 19, (1945) at Seattle. Mr. Larsen was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and is survived by the widow, Clara; four daughters, Gertie, Annie, Clarice and Donna, all at home; six sons, Thelmer, U.S. army in the Pacific; Benini, Gilbert, Adolph, Franklin and Albert at home. Funeral services will be conducted from the Monroe Funeral Chapel in Ferndale, Wednesday, January 24, at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. O. J. Nestvold officiating. Interment, Greenacres Memorial Park.

LARSEN, Albin O., age 64 of Route 1, Blaine, passed away in a local hospital Thursday, Aug. 25, (1955) following an extended illness. Mr. Larsen had been a resident of the Pleasant valley community for the past 10 years and was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Custer. He served in France, during World War I with the Princess Pat Regiment of Canada. He is survived by his wife Anna, two daughters, Mrs. Richard Ettinger of Bend, Ore., Mrs. Henry Fletcher of Aurora, Ill.; one son, Donn of Seattle; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Paasche of Calgary, Alta., and Mrs. Joseph Jensen of Seattle, one brother of Seattle; 11 grandchildren, numerous other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Aug. 29 at 2 p.m. in the Monroe Funeral Chapel in Ferndale with Rev. Theol Holland officiating. Final resting place Greenacres.

LARSEN, Alice J., 89, of Ferndale, passed away peacefully at the family farm on Friday, August 10, 2007. Born March 19, 1918, in Ferndale to Swiss immigrants, Louis and Mary Burgler, Alice lived her entire married life on the farm she loved. She was a member of the Ferndale Heritage Society, St. Joseph Catholic Church, and Sons of Norway. She is preceded n death by her parents; husband Paul; brothers Louis and Joe; and sisters Mary McCarty and Ann Coleman. She is survived by her three children; sons Jim (Chris) Larsen of Ferndale, and Dick Larsen of Vancouver, WA; and daughter Helen (Larry) Birchall of Ferndale; grandchildren Joe Larsen of Grandview, WA, and Steve Larsen of Ferndale; brother Frank Burgler; and sister Pauline Charlton. The family would like to thank Dr. Goo and staff, Visiting Angels and the entire staff at Alderwood Park Convalescent Center. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Moles Funeral Home in Ferndale. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ferndale, with burial to follow in Enterprise Cemetery.

LARSEN, Alma E., 616 1/2 Chestnut Street, passed away at a local hospital Friday, March 27, (1953) following an extended illness. She had resided in Bellingham for the past 45 years and had been stenographer for the Charles H. Hurlbut law offices for many years. Miss Larson was a member of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church and the Holly Rebekah Lodge. She is survived by two nephews, Alfred Larsen, Seattle, and Ronald Larsen, of Prosser, Wash.; two grand-nephews, and one grand-niece. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 30, 3:30 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home with the Reverend Father W. Robert Webb officiating, followed by the ritualistic services of the Holly Rebekah Lodge. Cremation.

LARSEN, Anna, aged 78 years, a resident of the Acme district passed away at a local hospital Wednesday evening, October 2, (1940) after a lingering illness. Mrs. Larsen had resided in Whatcom County for the past sixty-eight years and leaves two nephews to survive, Mr. Carl A. and Earl G. Larsen, of Chicago, Ill. Mrs. Larsen rests at the Bingham-Dahlquist Funeral Home where funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, October 5 at 1:30 o'clock with Rev. James E. Sawyer, pastor of the Church of God officiating. Interment will be made in Saxon Cemetery.

LARSEN, Anna, age 76, of 2709 W. Maplewood Ave., passed away at a local hospital, Monday, Aug. 28, (1961). A member of the Central Lutheran Church, Mrs. Larsen was a 53-year resident of Bellingham. Survivors are her husband, Peder F. Larsen, at home; five sons, Edwin J., of Bellingham, Eddie, of Chicago, Leo M. and Reuben, both of Spokane, and Palmer A., of Sunnyvale, Calif.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Pastor Obed L. G. Vold, Friday, Sept. 1, at 3 p.m.

LARSEN, Anna A., age 68, of Bellevue, passed away Friday, March 31, (1961) in a Seattle hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Larsen had formerly been a resident of the Pleasant Valley Community for 11 years and was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. Survived by two daughters, Mrs. Maxine Fletcher of Aurora, Ill., Mrs. Marjorie Ettinger of Bend, Ore.; one son Donn of Bellevue; four sisters, two brothers, 14 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 3, at 1:30 p.m. in the Moles' Monroe Chapel with the Rev. Albert Tietz pastor of Lake Hills Lutheran Church of Bellevue officiating. Final resting place Greenacres.

LARSEN, Anne P., age 71, of 730 Mason, passed away in a local hospital Sunday, Sept. 23, (1956). Mrs. Larsen had resided in this community for the past 40 years and was a member of the Ebenezer Lutheran Church. Surviving relatives include three son, Arthur E., Clayton L., and Melvin A., all of Bellingham and seven grandchildren. The remains rest at the Jones' Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home where private services will be conducted by Pastor P. G. Sonnack, Tues., Sept. 25, at 3 p.m. Final resting place Bay View.

LARSEN, Arland W., of Bellingham, Washington, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2006. Arland was 66 years old and a lifetime resident of Whatcom County. Arland was a reserved man who loved his wife, Alice, family, and grandchildren. He was proud of his 38 years career at GP and liked to work with his hands – especially his word with furniture, his tractor, and his retro bike. He enjoyed Scandinavian and bluegrass music and loved playing his harmonica along with his friend, Larry. Arland was preceded in death by his mom and dad and is survived by his wife, Alice; daughters: Jean Larsen and Joann Ashcraft; grandchildren: Levi, Weston, and Tyler; and brother, Sel, and his wife Jan Larsen. A viewing will be held for Arland on Thursday, October 26, 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Moles Greenacres Funeral Home, Ferndale. A Graveside Committal will be held Friday, October 27, at 1:00 p.m. and Greenacres Memorial Park, followed by a 2:00 p.m. Memorial Service at Living Hope Fellowship, 824 W. Smith Rd., Bellingham.

LARSEN, Arthur E., 69, 729 Newell St, died Tuesday (April 14, 1987) in Bellingham. Mr. Larsen, a lifelong Bellingham resident, was born Oct. 6, 1917, in Bellingham. He owned the old Lighthouse and Ten-hi Tavern. Mr. Larsen served as a Boatswain Mate, First Class in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II and was a life member of the veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 1585 in Bellingham. He was a Lutheran. Survivors include his wife Frances; two sons, Clayton and Arne of Bellingham; two daughters, Lynne Glenovich and Gail Evans of Bellingham; two brothers, Clayton and Melvin; 10 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to noon, Thursday at Jones Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Woodlawn Cemetery with Jimmie O. Hanson officiating. LARSEN, Bernadette Lou, age 68, of Bellingham, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 1996 at St. Joseph Hospital. She was born Nov. 30, 1927 in Bellingham to Wallace and Helen (Burger) Ford. Mrs. Larsen was a graduate of Assumption School and Bellingham High School. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary, Eagles and Local Union #231. She worked as a sea food processor and later in the bakery at Albertsons until retiring. Survived by a daughter, Mary Snowden of Bellingham; her mother, Helen Ford of Bellingham; a sister-in-law, Emmy Ford of Ravensdale, WA. Visitation will be at Westford Funeral Home, 9 to 1:30 Wednesday, Oct. 16, 1996 followed by graveside services at Greenacres Memorial Park at 3 p.m. Arrangements by Westford Funeral Home.

LARSEN, Bernard Ward age 77 of 1509 E. Victor passed away Thurs. Dec. 4, 1980. LARSEN, Bertie Ann, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Larsen, of 2320 King Street, passed away at a local hospital on Thursday, April 6, (1950). Surviving besides her parents are two sisters, Janice and Lynn, and one brother Fred; a grandmother, Mabel J. Benner, of Bellingham, and a grandfather, Gerhard Larsen, of Blanchard, Wash. Graveside services will be at Woodlawn Cemetery on Monday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. John E. Parrott officiating under the direction of the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home.

LARSEN, Borghild, 86, 308 W. Champion St., died Sunday (Jan. 11, 1987) in Bellingham. Miss Larsen was born Aug. 14, 1900, in Norway and had been a Bellingham resident since 1950. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of Norway. Survivors include a brother, Sigurd Larsen of Seattle, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Jones Funeral Home. Burial will be in Evergreen-Washielli Cemetery in Seattle. Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home.

LARSEN, Brian Keith, age 7 of 5601 3rd Avenue, Ferndale, passed away suddenly as a result of a drowning accident Sunday, October 4, 1981. He was a lifetime resident of Whatcom County; a member of the Assembly of God Church at the Hannegan Road; and was a student at Central Elementary School in Ferndale. Survivors include his mother, Susan J. Larsen of Ferndale; a grandmother, Margaret Larsen of Bellingham; 3 brothers, Kenny, Lawrence and Loyd, all of Ferndale; numerous aunts, uncles and other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Don Hammond Thursday, October 8 at 11 a.m. in Moles Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park.

LARSEN, Carrie, age 92, passed away in Bellingham on Saturday, Dec. 8, (1984). She was born in Bemidji, Minn. on April 20, 1892. She and her husband, Oscar, and family, moved to Whatcom County from Oregon in 1927 and had resided in the Everson area since then. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar and a son, Chester. She is survived by three sons, Orval and wife Wilda, Lloyd and wife Mary Ann, George and wife Donna; four daughters, Helen Gerke, Mabel Speciale, Florence and husband Herbert Holz, Shirley and husband Richard Gelwicks; a daughter-in-law, Edith Larsen; a sister, Ida Milton of Gresham, Ore.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services were scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 1 p.m. in Woodlawn Cemetery.

LARSEN, Chester - Funeral services for Mr. Chester Larsen, age 73, of 502 Mission Road, Everson, were conducted on Wednesday, January 26, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden, with Rev. Thomas Carlson officiating. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery. A retired logger and millworker, Mr. Larsen was born in Pasco on December 5, 1909 and died in a Bellingham Hospital on Sunday, January 23, (1983). He had been employed for many years at Brooks Lumber Company and was a member of the Lumber and Sawmill Workers Union Local No. 2667. He was married to Edith Crape in Bellingham on October 15, 1933. He is survived by his wife, Edith; two daughter, Mrs. Mary and husband Jim Wortley and Mrs. Betty and husband Clarence Kelln, all of Everson; three brothers, Lloyd of Bellingham, and George and Orval of Everson; four sisters, Mrs. Shirley Gelwick of Everson, Mrs. Mable Speciale and Mrs. Helen Gerke, both in California, and Mrs. Florence Holz of Albany, Oregon; his mother, Carrie Larsen, of Bellingham; eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

LARSEN, Chris, age 72 years, of Custer, Route No. 1, passed away Friday, September 24, (1948). Mr. Larsen had been a resident of the Custer district for the past 39 years and is survived by his wife, Johanna, two sons, Stanley R., of Portland, and Dexter C., at home; also two sisters and two brothers, in Denmark. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, September 27, at 2 p.m. from the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. Interment in Greenacres Memorial Park.

LARSEN, Clarence A. of Tumwater, passed away Oct. 22, (1983). He was born Aug. 7, 1907 and was a 1925 graduate of Lynden High School. He worked for many years for Rainier Timber Company at Aberdeen. He is survived by his wife Sara at Tumwater, three daughters, Sally Jo Hedwall of Port Angeles; Alita Closure of Portland, Oregon; and Linda Wolfson of Tucson, Ariz.; two sons, Steven Larsen of Copalis Beach; and Keith Larsen of Portland, Oregon. There are two sisters, Evelyn Kemphaus of Ferndale and Helen Simons of Portland; two brothers, Louis Larson (sic) of Seattle and Burton Larson (sic) of Lynden. There are eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. No services were held. Cremation services were held.

LARSEN, Dagma, age 63 years, passed away at a local hospital Thursday, April 26, (1945) following an eight months' illness. Mrs. Larsen had lived in Whatcom County for the past 46 years and was a member of the garden Street Methodist Church and for many years was secretary-treasurer of the Lady Maccabees. She is survived by one son, Roy E. Larsen, Seattle, Wash.; three daughters, Mrs. Catherine Evans, Mrs. Florence Theel, Mrs. Ruth Pearl Gaasland, all of Bellingham; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Marie Larsen, Yakima, and one brother, Otto Petersen, Worcester, Mass. Her remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where funeral services will be conducted by Rev. C. Elroy Shikles, Saturday, April 28, at 3:30 p.m. Cremation.

LARSEN, Dexter C. passed away at his home in Custer on Friday, January 26, 2007, at the age of 79. Visitation is scheduled from 9-11 a.m on Saturday, February 3, 2007, in the Moles-Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel, 5700 Northwest Drive. A Funeral Service will follow at 11 a.m. Dexter was born on April 21, 1927, to Christopher and Johanna Larsen. After graduating from Ferndale High School, he remained on the family farm. Later he worked for well over 30 years for Clyde and Bob Green's Dairy. Dexter was proud of his association with the Green Bros. and he liked to share his working acquaintance with Mooney Lynn with others. Perhaps this explains why Dexter enjoyed Loretta Lynn's music. Over the years he enjoyed tending to his flower and vegetable gardens and caring for his dogs and cats. After retirement, Dexter delighted in traveling on various tours throughout the Pacific Northwest and the greater United States. He was preceded in death by his brother, Stanley, and he is survived by his immediate family, a sister-in-law, two nephews, and a niece. The family wishes to thank Dexter's friends, acquaintances, and caregivers for their many kindnesses and expressions of friendship throughout Dexter's life.

LARSEN, Doris (age 90) entered into rest on November 4, 2007 in Bellingham, WA. Doris was born on June 22, 1917 in Aberdeen, WA to William and Mabel Murphy. She loved cats, enjoyed bowling and camping with friends; Doris was a member of the VFW Ladies Aux., Elks and had been a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church. She for worked for Dr. Sharninghouse for many years and enjoyed participating in Toastmasters. Doris retired from Whatcom county Treasurers office in 1981. She is survived by her son, Steve and daughter-in-law, Shelley Larsen of Bellingham; granddaughters, Lisa Swartos of Seattle and Renee Larsen of Bellingham and numerous nieces and nephews. Doris is preceded in death by her husband Clayton Larsen, sister, Muriel Moore; brothers, Donald Murphy and Gerald Murphy. Graveside Services will be held on Friday, November 9, 2007 at 12:00 noon at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ferndale. Arrangements entrusted to Jerns Funeral Chapel, 800 E. Sunset Dr., Bellingham.

LARSEN, Edith, age 90, died at a Bellingham health care center on Thursday, March 10, 2005. The daughter of Louie and Eva (Maier) Crape, Edith was born in Saskatchewan, Canada on May 1, 1914 and shortly after moved with her family to the Everson area. She was married to Chester Larsen in Bellingham on October 15, 1933. A homemaker, Edith enjoyed working in her yard and digging for clams. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Chester in 1983, five brothers and a sister. Mrs. Larsen is survived by her daughters Mary and husband Jimmy Wortley of Everson and Betty and husband Clarence Kelln of Lynden; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; sister Emma McCaffery of Bellingham and numerous other relatives. Graveside services were conducted by Rev. Al Currier on Tuesday, March 15, at 10:00 a.m. in Woodlawn Cemetery.

LARSEN, Edith V. passed away in Bellingham on Thursday, October 30, 2003. She was 90, born May 27, 1913 in Czar, Alberta, Canada to Oscar and Frida (Erickson) Holmstrom. Edith was the "wedding cake lady" to many brides through the years. She was an avid Sunday school teacher, who loved and taught children about the Lord in Friday Bible classes for nearly 40 years. Edith was a loving mother who kept everyone on the Church Road farm on schedule with a smile. Edith is survived by her husband Martin, whom she married in Ferndale in 1938. She is also survived by her sons, Arland and wife Alice Larsen, Selwyn (Sel) and wife Jan Larsen granddaughters, Jean Larsen, Joann Ashcraft, Julie and husband Rich Hold grandson, Jason Larsen six great-grandchildren brother, Herb Holmstrom sister, Dagney Lindskoog and numerous nieces and nephews. LARSEN, Edmund Adolph, age 43, of 2311 Monroe Street, passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, June 3, (1953). Mr. Larsen had resided her for the past nine years and was a plywood worker and shareholder in the Mt. Baker Plywood Co.; was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church, Piledrivers Union, Local No. 1824 and the Alaska Fisherman's Union. He leaves to survive the widow, Rubye O. Larsen at the family home; two brothers, Peter A., of Bellingham, and James A., of Bellevue; six sisters, Mrs. Grace Braun, of Petaluma, Calif., Mrs. Gladys Hatch, of Martinez, Calif., Mrs. Betty McIntyre, of San Francisco, Mrs. Zenia Foster of Seward, Alaska, Mrs. Alice Nutbeem, of Seldovia, Alaska, and Mrs. Clara Oaks, of Bellingham; numerous nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. Fr. W. Robert Webb, Friday, June 5, at 3 p.m., followed by cremation.

LARSEN, Edwin J. - A funeral service for Edwin J. Larsen, 75, of 1302 Kenoyer Drive, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel of Westford Funeral Home. Mr. Larsen died Thursday, (Aug. 1, 1991) in Bellingham. He was born Sept. 12, 1915 in Bellingham and lived here all of his life. He married Mildred R. Cox on July 2, 1938 in Bellingham. They owned Larsen's Jeweler's for 32 year before retiring. Mr. Larson (sic) was a member of the Elks Club, and enjoyed gardening, golf and travel. Survivors include his wife Mildred R. Larsen of the family home; a daughter, Carolyn L. Smith of Bellingham; a son, Ronald J. Larsen of Bellingham; two brothers, Ruben Larsen of Bellingham and Leo Larsen of Spokane; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Westford Funeral Home.

LARSEN, Elaine T. - A private family service will be held Saturday for Elaine T. Larsen, 45, who died Thursday, (April 5, 1990) at St. Joseph Hospital. Formerly of Friday Harbor, Ms. Larsen moved to Bellingham three years ago. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, on July 26, 1944. Ms. Larsen was a licensed massage therapist and a partner in Northwest Massage Center, 119 N. Commercial St. Survivors include sister Christine Larsen of Bellingham and brothers Ken Larsen of California and Roger Larsen of New York. Arrangements are by Jerns & LaVeck Funeral Chapel.

LARSEN, Everett L., 77, 6006 Portal Way, Ferndale, WA passed away in Bellingham August 1, 1992. He was born November 27, 1914 in Baker, Oregon and moved to Whatcom County six years ago. He was an avid reader and studied and taught the Bible for most of h is life. He is survived by his wife, Edna Larsen of the family home; three sons, Fred and his wife Eileen Larsen of Mass, Gerry L. and his wife Sharon of Spokane, WA and Steven L. Larsen of Ferndale; two daughters, Shirley L. and her husband Edgar Pears of Custer and Wanda "Lee" and her husband Keith Lotze of Spokane; two brothers, Howard L. Larsen of Idaho and Sidney L. Larsen of Spokane, WA; one sister, LaVonna L. Poirier of Idaho; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great- grandchildren. LARSEN, Ewald - Sedro Woolley - Ewald Larsen, 79, died Tuesday at a local convalescent center. He had been a resident of Acme for most of his life. Mr. Larsen was an Army veteran of world War I. He was a retired millwright. He is survived by the widow, Margaret, Sedro Woolley; a son, Gerald, of Silverdale; two daughters, June Reynolds of Renton and Jean Clow of Acme; a sister, Hannah Norris, also of acme; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Lemley Chapel. The Rev. Eldon Pickering of Bethlehem Lutheran Church will officiate. LARSEN, Florence Mary, age 50 years, passed away Saturday evening, November 9, (1946) at 2129 King Street, after a lingering illness. She had been a resident of this community most all of her life. Mrs. Larsen was a member of the Free Methodist Church, the Culinary and Beverage Workers Union No. 529, also a member of the Central Labor Council. She is survived by her beloved husband, Simon of the home; two daughters, Esther Wehmeyer, Seattle, Emma Noah, Soap Lake; three brothers, George Harvey, Fort Bellingham, Earl of the city, Clarke, of Mount Vernon, Wash.; one sister, Lillian Pullem, Spencer, Iowa; four grandchildren. Private funeral services were conducted Monday, November 11, at 1:30 p.m. from the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home with the rev. E. R. Slingerland, pastor of the Free Methodist Church officiating, followed by cremation.

LARSEN, Frank D. - Services for Frank D. Larsen, 52, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Greenacres Memorial Park chapel, with the Rev. Steve Smallegan officiating. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park. Mr. Larsen, 908 W. 1st St., Nooksack, died Monday (July 24, 1989) in St. Joseph Hospital South Campus of cancer. He was born Nov. 11, 1936 in Somers, Mont. He came with his family to Whatcom County in 1941. He married Darlene Meece on Oct. 29, 1960 in Lawrence, Wash. He had been employed by a number of construction companies in the county and raised raspberries until 1981. His favorite hobbies were fishing, especially at Sheridan Lake, and his grandchildren. He was a member of Laborers International Union Local No. 276 in Bellingham. Survivors include his wife; a son, Glen Larsen of Everson; two daughters, Shari Groen and Tami Larsen, both of Sumas; two grandchildren; five brothers, Thelmer Larsen, Ben Larsen, Albert Larsen and Allen Larsen, all of Bellingham, and Adolph "Red" Larsen of Custer; three sisters, Gertie Erdahl and Donna Larsen, both of Bellingham, and Ann Fleming of Blaine; and numerous other relatives. His parents, Albert Larsen and Clara Larsen Paulsen, died before him, as did an infant brother, James in 1935, another brother, Gilbert, in 1971, and a sister, Clarice Erdahl in 1985. LARSEN, Fred M., age 92, of Bellingham, WA, passed away at home on Friday, October 5, 2007. He was born on January 23, 1915 in Seattle, WA to John Gerhardt and Hattie Larsen. Fred served in the Army Air Corp during WWII and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #1585, and American Legion, Post #7. He was preceded in death by his wife, Olive Larsen in 2004; and by his daughter, Bertie Ann Larsen. Fred is survived by daughters, Janice (Richard) Woods and Lynn (Robert) Howard; son, Fred (Melissa) Larsen; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Wendell (Theda) Larsen; and niece, Paula Petersen. A graveside service with military honors will be held 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 12, 2007, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ferndale. LARSEN, Gerald E. - Graveside services for Acme native Gerald E. Larsen, 70, of Port Orchard will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Saxon Cemetery near Acme. The Rev. James Spurling will officiate. Mr. Larsen died Saturday (June 15, 1991) at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton. He was born Oct. 10, 1920 in Acme. He graduated from Mount Baker High School in 1938 and attended Western Washington University (Formerly Western Washington State College) from 1938 through 1940. He lived in Kitsap County for many years. Mr. Larsen served with the U.S. Army infantry from 1942 until 1960, when he retired as a lieutenant colonel. In 1980, he retired from a position as transportation supervisor at Retsil Veteran's Home. He belonged to Friendship Lodge No. 160 F&AM in Portland, OR, the American Association of Retired People, Disabled American Veterans and the Kitsap County Dahlia Society. He enjoyed growing flowers. Survivors include two sons, Tom Larsen and Gerald Larsen Jr., both of California; a daughter, Ingrid Senne of California; and two sisters, June Reynolds of Seattle and Jean Clow of Acme. LARSEN, Jill Marie - Funeral services for Jill Marie Larsen, 21, of Phoenix, Ariz., will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Art Sather and the Rev. Clifford Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park. An additional memorial service will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Valley Cathedral in Phoenix with the Rev. W. Donald Price officiating. She died Tuesday in an automobile accident outside Phoenix. She was born on May 26, 1966 in Bellevue, Wash., and lived in Phoenix for 17 years. She spent her summers in Whatcom County with relatives. She was a member of the Valley Cathedral in Phoenix and was a 1984 graduate of Greenway High School in Phoenix. For the last two and a half years she worked at Eastern Electric Company in data entry. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lynden, Danish Brotherhood, and Bricklayers Union Local 9. He is survived by his wife Carol, 2 sons, John C. Larsen of Lynden and Joseph C. Larsen of Bellingham; 1 daughter Greta Stamm of City; 1 grandchild, brothers and sisters in Denmark, and a nephew. LARSEN, Judy A. - Active Salvation Army volunteer Judy A. Larsen, 45, of Bellingham, died early Monday (April 2, 1990) at her home after a six-month battle with gall bladder cancer. Larsen was the subject of an article in the Herald last December, when she decided she wanted to encourage other people suffering from terminal diseases not to give up hope. When her cancer was diagnosed in September 1989, doctors estimated she had three months to live. Larsen's family said she died peacefully. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Salvation Army Chapel, with Maj. Richard Beaver officiating. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, also the Salvation Army Chapel. Larsen, of 2501 Utter St., was a lifetime resident of Bellingham. She was born Judy Robertson here Sept. 17, 1944, and was adopted by the Getz family. She went to Assumption School, and married Charlie Larsen on Aug. 14, 1970. A homemaker, she was an active volunteer for the Salvation Army Church for many years. Among her roles there was as a Sunday school teacher and Home League Record Sergeant. She also took many homeless or needy people into her home before, and even during, her illness. She said she had made a pact with God to share her home with people in need, to show gratitude for having her own place.
Survivors include her husband and two daughters, Mary and Amy Larsen, all of the family home; her father, James Robertson of Bellingham; four brothers, Robert Robertson of Bellingham, John Robertson of Glendale, Calif., Ret. Army Maj. Timothy Flockoi of Lawton, Okla., and William Pace of Phoenix, Ariz.; five sisters, Eileen Anderson, Rose Horn, and Joan Smiley, all of Bellingham, and Susan Shondell of Sacramento, Calif., and another sister in Spokane; a special niece, Judy Crombie of Bellingham; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

LARSEN, Karly, passed away peacefully at the Josephine Sunset Home on Friday, May 22, 1992 at the age of 86. He was born on June 13, 1905 in Aalborg, Denmark and came to Stanwood in 1916 and has resided here until his death. He worked in the woods at a young age and was elected Vice President of the International Woodworkers of America in the early 1940's. He then became a well know builder in the Stanwood area and was honored as "Bull of the Woods" at the Deming Log Show in 1981. He was a member of the Eagles Local #3041. He leaves his loving wife Suoma of the family home, Karly and Suoma had celebrated their 61st Wedding Anniversary on May 16, 1992. He leaves two children; daughter, Shirley and husband Howard Dorsey of Burlington, son Jack and wife Evie Larsen of Camano Island. Grandchildren Kathy and Ralph Jordan, Steve and Janice Dorsey, Barb Gilstrap and Nick Rosenbach, J.R. and Vicky Dorsey. 11 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, all of the local area. He leaves a brother Rasmas Larsen of Stanwood, sisters, Marie Pedersen of Chelan, Margaret Pedersen of Bellingham and a special & caring nephew Donald Manus. Also many other nieces and nephews. Private family inurnment will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 29, 1992 at the Camano Lutheran Cemetery followed by a Remembrance Luncheon for family and friends at 2:00 p.m. at the sons of Norway Hall, Stanwood. LARSEN, Knud O. (Pete), age 77 of 2519 Toledo St., passed away at the family home Sunday, Dec. 7, (1958). Mr. Larsen had resided in Bellingham for the past 53 years and was a member of the Culinary and Beverage workers Union and was a retired cook. He leaves to survive his wife, Mrs. Eva A. Larsen at the family home, one son Edward of Seattle, 1 daughter, Mrs. Amanda Ross of Hoods Canal, 1 granddaughter, Karen Larsen of this city; one step-daughter, Mrs. Neva Wood of Everett; one step-son, Chester Whipple of Los Angeles. LARSEN, Kristine Marie, age 67, who resided at 931 Mason street passed away in a local hospital on Wednesday, April 25, (1962) following an extended illness. Mrs. Larsen had resided in Bellingham for the past 40 years and was the widow of the late Alfred Larsen who was associated with the PAF. She leaves to survive 2 daughters, Mrs. Sally Parrish of Bellingham, Mrs. Rose Marie Denney of Snohomish, her sister, Mrs. Kristen Rist and 2 brothers, Arne and Paul Rise all in Norway, also 4 grandchildren. Rev. Albert Gunderson will conducted funeral services on Monday, April 30 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Bingham & Jerns Funeral Home, followed by cremation.

LARSEN, LaVerne, 84, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2002 with her family and doctor by her side. Born July 17, 1918 to Herman and Tillie Knutsen in Everett, she moved with her family to Bellingham as an infant and lived in this area for the remainder of her life. A dedicated scholar, she graduated as valedictorian from Meridian High School and later from Success Business College. She held various positions during her lifetime, with her most recent position being at Western Washington University. LaVerne was a devout Christian and member of Central Lutheran Church. She attended church faithfully, and actively participated in and led Bible studies. She will be remembered for her goodness and devotion to a wholesome lifestyle. Though LaVerne will be sorely missed, it is comforting to know that she is assured of salvation. Survivors include her beloved son Randy Peters of Mt. Vernon, sister Eleanor Bruland of Bellingham, brother Ted Knutsen and wife Lucille of Oak Harbor, sister-in-law Hertha Knutsen of Bellingham, stepsons Randy Larsen of Ferndale and Ray Larsen of Littleton, CO, stepdaughters Susan Larsen of Everson and Sharon Hall of Decatur Island as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. LaVerne was preceded in death by her loving husband of 31 years, Thelmer Larsen who passed away on June 3, 2001 parents Herman and Tillie sisters Doris Knutsen and Alice Bogen and brothers Stanley and Irving Knutsen. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2002 from 7-9 p.m. and Friday, November 22, 2002 from 9-11 a.m. at Jones|Moles Funeral Home. LARSEN, Leonard "Bear" of Bellingham died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1993, in Bellingham of cardiac arrhythmia. He was 45. Family services will be held in New York City. Mr. Larsen was born March 13, 1949, in New York City. As a young man, he toured the United States by hitchhiking. A truck driver most of his working life, he belonged to a New York truckers union. After retiring in the early 1980s, he spent a year in Los Angeles and three years in the Yakima and Wenatchee areas before moving to Bellingham in 1988. Survivors include daughters Renee Suzanne Larsen and Rachel Larsen, both of New York City; and special friends Julie Mitchell and Jack Schultz, both of Bellingham. LARSEN, Lloyd Edward, 74, of 121 Front St., Lynden, died April 16, 1991 at home. He was born in Everett, on Jan. 4, 1917 and was a Ferndale resident since 1980, having recently moved to Lynden. Prior to that he resided inn Everett. Lloyd worked as a cement contractor in partnership with his father Moller. Later his two sons joined the firm of Moller Larsen and Sons. He was a longstanding member of Gideon's International. He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church of Everett, a member of the Old Time Fiddlers Association and the Ferndale Senior Center. His greatest enjoyment was singing to the elderly in rest homes. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Arnola of the family home; two sons, Larry and wife Janette Larsen of Ferndale and Ron and Sue Larsen of Goldendale; one daughter, Kris Driver and husband Ed of Everett; and eight grandchildren and four great-grandsons. Funeral services were held Saturday at Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel and at Evergreen Funeral Home Chapel, 4504 Broadway, Everett, with entombment at Evergreen Cemetery. Officiant at Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel was Pastor Delaine Bailey of Grace Baptist Fellowship Church, Lynden, and at the Evergreen Funeral Home Chapel was Pastor Edward H. LARSEN, Lloyd G., 64, 1412 Humboldt St, died Thursday (Feb. 19, 1987) in a Lynden nursing home. He was born April 13, 1922, in Parkdale, Ore., and was a resident of Bellingham most of his life. Mr. Larsen was a member of the Elks Club in Mount Vernon and had played with the Herb Benthein Band. He was a member of the Musicians Association of Skagit and San Juan counties, Local 461 AF of M. Survivors include his wife Mary Ann, of the family home; three daughters, Penny Dykman, Adene Marandola, and Kathryn Allison; three sons, Eugene Larsen, Warren Barry and Thomas Barry; nine grandchildren; four sisters, Helen Gerke, Mabel Speciale, Florence Holz and Shirley Gelwicks; and two brothers, Orval and George Larsen. LARSEN, Lucretia Mabel passed away peacefully at her home on November 21, 2008 at the age of 75. She was born June 19, 1933 in Friday Harbor, WA to Nora and Ted McKay. She was baptized and confirmed at Assumption Catholic Church in 1991. After her marriage to Allen in Friday Harbor in 1952 they moved to Bellingham. Four years later they purchased their home in which she lived until her passing. She worked at Uniflite from 1971 Until 1988. Next, her and Allen started one of the first adult family homes in Bellingham, which they ran for 7 years. Her compassion for human life was truly personified in how she attended to the elder people in her care. She loved music and was a member of the Sweet Adelines, Singing Sals Quartet and the Assumption Church Choir. She was also a member of Catholic Daughters. She was an awesome cook and even a better baker. At the end of each summer canning and making jam was an annual tradition. She was the "Best" mom five children could ever have. Her unconditional love and devotion to them is unsurpassed. Her number one priority was her children and husband. She was preceded in death by parents Nora and Ted McKay. Special thanks to Whatcom Hospice, and a very special thanks to Dr. James Miller. A visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday November 25th at the Church of the Assumption, with vigil services following at 7:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, November 26th at 10:00 a.m. at the Church. Burial will be at Greenacres Memorial Park.

LARSEN, Margaret I. – Graveside services for Margaret I. Larsen, 74, 2083 Shuksan St., Ferndale, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Greenacres Memorial Park. Mrs. Larsen, who lived most of her life in the San Juan Islands, died Tuesday (June 11, 1985) in Bellingham. She was 74. Mrs. Larsen was born July 8, 1910, in Coupeville and lived in the Bellingham area for the past 24 years. Her husband, Nels Larsen, and son Lawrence preceded her in death. Mrs. Larsen's greatest interests were her children and grandchildren, said her daughter-in-law Lucretia Larsen. "She dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren." Survivors include three sons, Allen, James and Charles, all of Bellingham; 11 daughters, including Anna Hanson, Rose Granger and Hellen Larsen of Bellingham, Barbara Johnson of Everson and Susan Larson of Ferndale; 39 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one sister.

Mrs. Larsen had resided in Whatcom County for the past 50 years and was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church at Lawrence. Surviving relatives include one son, Ben Larsen of Rt. No. 2, Everson; one daughter, Mrs. Esther Turnage of Wade, N.C.; one brother Helberg Pedersen of Glenwood, Minn. The remains rest at the Jones' Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at the Bethany Lutheran Church by Pastor Clarence Haaland, Monday, Feb. 27, at 3 p.m. Final resting place Bethany Lutheran Cemetery.

LARSEN, Martin, 68, of Acme, passed away in a Seattle Hospital Tuesday, Jan. 28, (1958). Mr. Larsen had resided in this community his entire life, was a veteran of World War I, and leaves to survive two brothers, Ewald Larsen of Acme, and Henry Larsen of Sedro Woolley; three sisters, Miss Emma Larsen, Mrs. Dora Jacoby, and Mrs. Hannah Norris, all of Acme. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Rev. LARSEN, Martin J., age 94, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2005 in Bellingham. He was born on January 9, 1911 in Moi-Ranen, Norway, to Ellen Johansen. Martin married Edith Holmstrom on October 21, 1938 in Ferndale, WA. She preceded him in death on October 30, 2003. Martin was a hardworking man who loved working on the farm and taking care of the animals. He worked as a farmer and a construction worker for most of his life and even after retirement, he liked to keep himself busy. He delighted in helping others, fixing things and doing repairs for those in need, especially those who couldn't repay him, like the widows in his church. He was a man of strong faith, one to whom his family was always top priority. Martin loved to play the harmonica and the Hawaiian guitar, and was often called upon to play in the church for worship or special occasions. He was a charter member of Living Hope Fellowship Church in North Bellingham, and served on the church board for many years. He was also a lifetime member of the Laborers and Hod Carriers Unions. His wife, Edith; sister, Hazel Johnson; and his granddaughter, Jill Marie Larsen, preceded Martin in death. He is survived by sons, Arland Larsen and wife, Alice of Bellingham, and Selwyn (Sel) Larsen and wife, Jan of Glendale, AZ; granddaughters, Jean Larsen of Ferndale, Joann Ashcraft of Bellingham, and Julie Hold and husband, Rich of Queen Creek, AZ; grandson, Jason Larsen of Glendale, AZ; sister Nettie Larsen of Lynden; brothers, Paul Larsen and wife, Alice of Ferndale, and Mel Larsen and wife, Elsie of Bellingham; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 24, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Living Hope Fellowship Church, with burial to follow at Enterprise Cemetery. LARSEN, Marvin B. of Yakima died at home Monday, Sept. 22, 1997. He was 87. A memorial service was held in Yakima, with private burial with military honors by William Wharton Post No. 379, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Born Oct. 5, 1909, to Hans and Martha Bardon Larsen in Everett, he was raised in Bellingham. Mr. Larsen married Alma Burnett on Oct. 29, 1942, and he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following his discharge, he moved to Yakima to attend J. M. Perry Institute and later became a teacher in its carpentry, machinist and Indian programs. Mr. Larsen was a member of the Ahtanum Pioneer Church, where he served as deacon, elder, usher and treasurer. He enjoyed sports, especially baseball. Survivors include his wife of Yakima, daughter Alicia Shreve of Yakima, sons Craig Larsen of Marysville and Ronald Larsen of Bellingham, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, a sister, two half-brothers and two half-sisters.

LARSEN, Mary G., 77, resident of Sedro Woolley since 1911 died at United General Hospital, Fri., Sept. 23, (1977). She was born in Kansas in 1900. Her first husband Wilbur Moody died in 1933. She was married to Henry Larsen in 1936, he preceded her in death in 1961. Mrs. Larsen was a member of the Sedro Woolley Church of Christ. Survived by 3 sons, Leslie Moody, Lacy, WA, Lee Moody, Forks, WA, Richard Larsen, Sedro Woolley; a daughter, Aleta Weltzin, Canada; a step daughter, Wilma Hayes, Bow, WA; 2 step sons, William Larsen, Canada, Steve Larsen, Calif.; 57 grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Lemley Chapel, Monday, Sept. 26 at 2:30 p.m. Interment will be in Sedro Woolley Cemetery.

LARSEN, Maryanne Else - Services for Maryanne Else Larsen, 75, formerly of Lynden and Bellingham, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Arlington Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Her remains will be cremated and scattered at sea. She died Aug. 29, 1999, in an Everett Hospital 4? years after suffering a debilitating stroke. She was born Jan. 23, 1924, in Lynden to Gina and Joseph Golly. At a young age, she moved with her parents to Bellingham, where she grew up. She graduated from Meridian High School in 1941 and earned a bachelor of science in education degree from Western Washington State College. For 26 years, she taught in the Arlington School District, primarily focusing on curriculum as well as the golden rule. She retired in 1982. She enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, travel and her three children. She was a member of the Arlington Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Snohomish County Retired Teachers Association and two birthday groups, one in Bellingham and one in Redmond. Survivors include son Geoff Larsen daughter Deborah Kay Larsen sister Kathleen Badgely and many grandchildren, nieces and cousins. Her parents, brother Charles and daughter Marcia died before her.

LARSEN, Nellie Smith, age 91, passed away April 7th, (1967) in a local nursing home. Mrs. Larsen had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 68 years. She leaves to survive one son Bernard Larsen of Bellingham, 4 sisters, Mary Hennessy, of Issaquah, Ann Bunce of Olympia, Katherine Zuidema in Virginia and Christine Tilbe in Oregon, 1 brother, James Smith of Centralia. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 12, 11:00 a.m., Chapel of Bingham and Jerns Funeral Home. Cremation will follow.

LARSEN, Nels O., age 72, of 2305 Douglas St., passed away in a local hospital Friday, October 7, (1960). A resident of Bellingham for the past 2 1/2 years, Mr. Larsen formerly resided at Bonner, Montana where he was a watchman for the Anaconda Copper Co. for 46 years and was a member of Saviours Lutheran Church. Survivors are his widow, Ivarda, at home; one son, Harold Larsen and two grandchildren, all residing in Bonner, Mont.; one brother and five sisters, residing in Norway. The remains will be forwarded to Missoula, Montana for services and interment by the Jones Funeral Home.

LARSEN, Olaf J., age 66, of 2712 Russell Street, passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, October 6, (1954). Mr. Larsen had resided in this community for the past 43 years, was employed as a piledriver foreman for PAF, was a member of the Lutheran Church, Alaska Fishermen's Union, and the B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 194. Surviving relatives include the widow, Mrs. Olga A. Larsen at home; one step-son, August Barton of Eugene, Ore.; four grandchildren; four brothers, Adolph, in Montana, Rudolph and Sigurd of Seattle, and Jens in Norway; one sister Miss Borghild Larsen of Bellingham; numerous nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. Harold Penhalurick and officers of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 194, Monday, October 11, at 1 p.m. Final resting place Bay View.

LARSEN, Olga, age 70 years, formerly of Bellingham, passed away in Eugene, Ore., Sunday, Aug. 9, (1959). She had resided in Whatcom County for 56 years before moving to Eugene three years ago and was a member of the Lutheran Church. Surviving relatives include one son, August L. Barton of Eugene; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Levi Axlund, Bellingham, and Mrs. Walter Baldwin of Eureka, Calif.; two brothers, Arthur Jacobson, Lynden and Dave Jacobson, Bellingham; also numerous nieces and nephews. The remains will be received by the Jones Funereal Home where services will be conducted Thursday, Aug. 13, at 10:30 a.m. Final resting place Bay View Cemetery.

LARSEN, Olive Maxine, loving wife and mother, of Bellingham, WA, passed away on Monday, November 8, 2004, in Bellingham. She was 82, born in Bellingham on December 16, 1921, to Mabel (Thompson) and Bert Benner. She is survived by her husband Fred, whom she married on April 6, 1945 [sic], in Bellingham; children Janice and husband Richard Woods, Lynn and husband Robert Howard, and Fred and wife Melissa Larsen; six grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. LARSEN, Paul E., age 88, of Ferndale, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2005. He was born on May 22, 1917 in Ferndale, to Peter and Ellen Larsen on the farm where he lived his entire life. Paul was a Veteran of WWII and was part of the landing at Utah Beach. After the war, he served in the Army Reserve and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. During his military service, he received several medals, including a Purple Heart and a Silver Star. He was also a dairy farmer his entire life, and loved the time spent on his farm. Paul is survived by his wife, Alice; sons, Jim (Chris) Larsen and Dick Larsen; daughter Helen (Larry) Birchall; grandchildren, Joe and Steve Larsen; sister, Nettie Lawson; brother Mel Larsen; and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 10, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. in the Ferndale Moles Funeral Home Chapel. Ferndale|Moles Funeral Home & Cremation Service.

LARSEN, Peter M., age 68 years, passed away at his home at Route 3, Ferndale, December 3, (1951) after a lingering illness. A resident of the community for 51 years. There are two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Johnson, Ferndale, Mrs. Nettie Lawson, Stanwood; three sons, Martin, Paul and Melvin, all of Ferndale; one sister, Mrs. Hannah Hubbard, Seattle; eight grandchildren and numerous other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted from the Monroe Mortuary at Ferndale, Wednesday, December 5, at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. A. A. Galbraith officiating. Interment, Enterprise Cemetery.

LARSEN, Robert A., age 55, of Star Route, Deming, passed away in a local hospital Tuesday, May 22, (1956). Mr. Larsen had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past 50 years and was a member of the eagles Lodge Aerie No. 31. He leaves to survive his wife, Mrs. Grace Larsen of the family home; also one daughter, Mrs. Daniel Rosser of this city; two grandchildren and one brother of Canada. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 25 at 1:30 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with Mr. Albert Gunderson, pastor of the Deming Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment Greenacres.

LARSEN, Robert W., age 85, of 1127 Central Road, Everson, died Friday, (July 13, 1984) in a local convalescent center. He was born in Sweden Jan. 26, 1899 and came to Whatcom County in 1923. In earlier years he was a longtime logger. He retired in 1980 at the age of 80 from the Rothenbuhler Engineering Company in Sedro Woolley. He was a past master of Nooksack Valley Lodge, No. 105 F&AM, the Bellingham Consistory Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, and the Swedish Club. His wife, Edith, preceded him in death in 1973. He is survived by one son, Ted and wife Linda of Alaska; two daughters, Astrid E. Berry of Bellingham and Jonlyn (Babe) Hansen and husband Jim of Everson. Thee are 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 17, in the Jerns & LeVeck Funeral Chapel with Rev. Carlos Schaeffer officiating. Interment was in Saxon Cemetery.

LARSEN, Rubye O., age 75, of 2430 Henry St., passed away Wed. Dec. 3, 1986. A Bellingham resident most of her life, Mrs. Larsen was formerly a waitress at the Pastime Cafe and is survived by 2 sisters, Esther & husband Ralph Walton of City, Mearle & husband Chuck Prentice of Anacortes; brother, Leonard & wife Osa Barrington of Cashmere; numerous nieces & nephews including Laura & husband Art Strode of City. LARSEN, Samuel J. - Graveside services for Samuel J. Larsen, 4-year-old son of the Rev. and Mrs. Morris Larsen of Seattle, will be held at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Greenacres Cemetery. The Rev. Lester Erickson will conduct the graveside services. Other services will be held in Seattle earlier in the day. The Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Larsen were missionaries who lived in Bellingham for some time. They currently live in Seattle. The boy is survived by three brothers, Nathaniel Daniel and David; a sister, Magdalene, and grandmother, Mrs. S. T. Kivley of Bellingham. [d. Sept. 27, 1964]

LARSEN, Sara Norma, 80, a longtime Grays Harbor area resident, died on Oct. 20, 1992 in a nursing home following an extended illness. She was born on Nov. 2, 1911 in Lynden to Carl and Anna Boice. Sara was raised and attended school in Lynden. Following her formal schooling she had been employed as a telephone operator. She was married to Clarence A. Larsen on Feb. 10, 1922 in Whatcom County. He died in 1983 at Olympia in 1979. She enjoyed being with her family and friends. She liked to cook, knit afghans and go camping along the Oregon rivers. She is survived by two sons, Steven C. Larsen of Montesano and Keith Larsen of Gresham, Ore.; two daughters, Alita Clouser of Tucson, Ariz. and Sally Hedwall of Port Angeles; her daughter-in-law, Tracy Larsen, who had assisted in her care; and 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Sara moved to Ocean Shores in 1985 and then to Hoquiam in 1987, where she had since resided. A daughter, Linda of Tucson, died in 1990. At the request of the family there will be no funeral service. Arrangements were made by the Coleman Mortuary.

LARSEN, Simon E. (Si), age 57, of 2512 I Street, passed away suddenly at his home Tuesday, April 12, (1949). Mr. Larsen had been a resident of Bellingham his entire life and was a well-known cigar clerk at the Alpine Cafe. He was a veteran of World War I, and a member of the American Legion and the Culinary and Beverage Workers Union, Local 529. Surviving relatives include five sisters, Mrs. Josephine Bergquist, city; Mrs. Sarah Stewart and Mrs. Iva McKeneny, both of Portland, and Mrs. Emma Hinkson and Mrs. Charlotte Leake, both of Seattle; two brothers, Arthur and Harvey Larsen, both of Seattle; six nephews and nieces and many other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 14, at 2 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home with the Rev. R. E. Slingerland officiating, followed by ritualistic graveside services by the American Legion, Albert J. Hamilton Post. Cremation.

LARSEN, Svend E., age 68 of 1182 North Shore Drive, Camano Island, died Thursday, Feb. 17, (1977) at a Mt. Vernon hospital. He was born June 14, 1908 in Alborg, Denmark. He was affiliated with the logging industry during his entire life in Bremerton, Bellingham, Canada and Alaska. He retired in 1973 after being logging superintendent of the Ketchikan Pulp Companies Thorne Bay Logging Division. He was "Bull of the Woods" for the Deming Logging Show in 1975. He was a member of the Whatcom Masonic Lodge No. 151 Bellingham, the Mt. Vernon Elk's Lodge No. 1604. He is survived by his wife, Ada of the family home; 1 son, Donald of Thorne Bay, Alaska; 2 daughters, Mrs. Allen (Joyce) Linn of Olympia, Mrs. Peter (Janet) Flones of walnut Creek, Calif.; 3 brothers, Rasmus and Karley both of Stanwood and Nesby of Long Beach, Calif.; 2 sisters, Marie Pedersen and Mrs. Lars (Margaret) Pedersen, both of Bellingham; 5 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Gilbertson Funeral Home, Stanwood, with the Rev. Lawrence Thompson officiating. Burial in the Camano Lutheran Cemetery.

LARSEN, Virginia H. - Former Bellingham teacher Virginia H. Larsen, 82, of Yakima died Monday Dec. 29, (1986) at Crescent Convalescent Center, Yakima. Mrs. Larsen was born May 14, 1904, in Toppenish. She married Robert L. Larsen in 1928 in Seattle. Mrs. Larsen moved with her parents, Frank and Ada Beeks Holt, Yakima at an early age. She attended Barge-Lincoln Elementary School and graduated from Yakima High School. She majored in education at the University of Washington. In 1936 she moved to Bellingham, where she taught high school until she retired in 1967. Mrs. Larsen was a member of the Washington State Teachers Association and the Yakima Indian Nation. She was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star, Bellingham Chapter of the Daughters of the Nile. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and the outdoors. Survivors include her husband, Robert Larsen of Yakima; a son, Wallace Buchanon of Yakima; a grandson; two step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. The body was cremated. No services were held.

LARSEN, Wlhelmine Elizabeth, age 84, of 1228 Starry Road, passed away at her home Saturday, October 14, (1950) following an extended illness. Mrs. Larsen had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 64 years and was a member of the Lutheran Church in Denmark. Surviving relatives include her daughter, Mrs. Elsie Clark, at home; a grandson, Leroy Clark of Phoenix, Ariz.; a granddaughter, Mrs. Katheryn Hansen of Pente, Ariz.; two great-grandchildren, Stephen and Carla Hansen; several other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 18, at 1:30 p.m. within the chapel of the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home with the Rev. Sylvester Rue officiating. Interment in Bay View Cemetery.
