January 2, 1902:

T[homas] HANSON residing on Twenty-first and B streets, who for a long period has been suffering from a severe case of cancer of the throat, died yesterday afternoon. Deceased was 59 years old. Funeral services will be conducted from Zion's Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran church, Grant street, York addition by Rev. O. J. Ordal, Jan. 1st, at 2 p.m. Services will be held in the English and Norwegian languages. Interment at Bay View cemetery.

March 4, 1902:

Benjamin F. Love, aged 61 years, died yesterday morning at 1 o'clock at St. Luke's hospital, this city, after a short illness. Funeral services will be held at Noice's funeral parlors at 2 o'clock this afternoon. Interment at Bay View cemetery. The funeral services will be under the direction of J. B. Steadman Post, G.a.R., of which he was a member. All old comrades are request to meet at the G.A.R. hall at 1:30 o'clock in order to attend the funeral in a body.

October 21, 1902:

Robt. NOURSE, who was to have delivered the lecture in the Normal course here on Dr. JEKYYLL and Mr. HYDE in February, died recently while on his lecture course, after an illness of two weeks. This will leave vacant one of the numbers of the lecture course, unless it can be filled, which will be difficult at this late date.

F. M. BLOOM of Northwood was in the city Sunday. Mr. BLOOM is vice-president and one of the directors of the Lone Star Mining company in the Mt. Baker mining district. This company has done considerable development work this season and the property is showing up well.

At the regular meeting of the Aftermath Society Monday afternoon, the club voted to hold future meetings at the homes of the members. Mrs. B. H. SILVER, Mrs. S. N. KELLY and Mrs. T. R. KERSHAW offered their homes for meeting whenever the club desired either of them. It was voted to hold the next two meetings at the home of Mrs. B. H. SILVER, corner of Flora and Grand avenue. No refreshments will be allowed at the meetings.

The Normal school athletic club has recently been organized. The officers elected are: President, J. R. EVERETT; vice president, F. D. EASON; sec.-treas., E. W. O'LAUGHLIN, Pinckney WHITE is the manager of the basket ball team, which will play a game of basket ball with the militia boys next Friday evening in the Normal gymnasium.
