GORDON, lawyer, Barre [Washington County, Vermont], was born 04 April 1870 at East Clifton, Province of Quebec, Canada, son of William and Eliza (HAMILTON) GORDON. Educated at Montpelier Seminary, Class of 1896, and Syracuse University 1898. In early life worked on a farm during the summer months, and during the winter in the logging woods. In 1890 worked in the quarries in Barre. Studied law; admitted to the Vermont bar in 1899; located in Barre, where he has since practiced his profession. Has built up a large practice, especially as a criminal lawyer. Republican. Member of Hiawatha Lodge, Independent Order of Odd Fellows; past chief patriot of Minnehaha Encampment; member of Canton Vinton; Independent Order of Red Men; Royal Arcanum, New England Order of Protection; Clan Gordon; and Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.
