Educated in the public schools of Plainfield, and Montpelier Seminary. Engaged in farming until 1884, when he conducted a store at West Topsham [Orange County, Vermont] three years, and in Plainfield twelve years. Appointed postmaster, Plainfield, 1897, which office he has since held. Republican. Justice of the peace ten years. Methodist. Member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows; the Rebekahs; the Grange; and Junior Order of Mechanics. He [John A. FOSS] married [Miss?] Delia E.
