FERRIN, merchant, Montpelier [Washington County, Vermont], was born 11 December 1853 at Johnson [Lamoille County, Vermont], son of Whitman G. and Matilda (HARRIS) FERRIN. Educated at Montpelier High School. Came to Montpelier with his parents in 1859. Was a conductor on the Montpelier & Wells River Railroad several years; was employed in telephone service at Lowell [Middlesex County] Massachusetts; was superintendent of telephone service at Burlington [Chittenden County, Vermont] for a time; and was secretary of the Union Mutual Fire Insurance Company. Now engaged in the grocery business. Republican. On 01 January 1906 he was appointed sergeant-at-arms by Governor BELL, and re-appointed in 1908 and 1910. Unitarian. Member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, trustee of the Montpelier Lodge of Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, and a member of the Apollo Club.
