Burlington: Ullery Publishing Company, 1912, p 180 Cecil George EGG, musician, Montpelier [Washington County, Vermont], was born 29 June 1879 in Hamilton, Ontario [Canada], son of Charles Henry and Rebecca (TAYLOR) EGG. Educated in the public and senior schools; began the study of music at the age of eight, receiving instruction from his mother, and at the same age joined the choir of St. George's Church, Montreal, where later he was soprano soloist for four years and won many prizes for singing. Studied piano, organ, singing composition, and history of music at Dominion College of Music, Montreal, from which he graduated with degree 1899; has made a special study of pipe organ and boy choir training; has secured honors in two examinations in piano playing. In 1899 passed first examination for degree of bachelor of music at Bishop's College, Lenoxville, Province of Quebec. In 1899 was organist at St. Barnabas' Church, Montreal; in 1900 director of music at Trinity Church, Shelburne [Chittenden County, Vermont]; since 1908 has been musical director of Christ Episcopal church choir, Montpelier, and teacher of piano, organ and singing. Member of Friendship Lodge No. 24, Free & Accepted Masons, Charlotte [Chittenden County]; Burlington Chapter No. 3, Royal Arch Masons; and Camp 9904, Modern Woodmen of America, Shelburne [Chittenden County].
