Julius Edward DEWEY, physician, Montpelier, was born 14 January 1878 at 
Montpelier [Washington County, Vermont], son of Edward and Susan Griggs 
(LILLEY) DEWEY. Received his preparatory training at the Montpelier Grammar 
School; afterwards attended the Vermont Episcopal Institute. Received his 
medical training at the University of Vermont, medical department. Member of 
Washington County Medical Society, Vermont Medical Society, Delta Mu medical 
fraternity, and Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. Was a private in Company H, 
First Vermont Infantry, United States Volunteers, in the Spanish-American 
War. Politically a Republican; religiously, Episcopalian.
