Received his preparatory training at the Montpelier Grammar School; afterwards attended the Vermont Episcopal Institute. Received his medical training at the University of Vermont, medical department. Member of Washington County Medical Society, Vermont Medical Society, Delta Mu medical fraternity, and Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.
