CUSHMAN, Burlington [Chittenden County, Vermont], lawyer and state tax commissioner, was born 27 April 1860 at Braintree [Orange County, Vermont], son of Earl S. and Mary E. (LAMB) CUSHMAN. Educated in the public schools, and Randolph State Normal School. Taught school in South Royalton [Windsor County] village school 1878-1880; Richmond village [Chittenden County] school 1880-1881 and 1882-1886; admitted to Vermont bar 28 October 1886, and began practice of law in Randolph [Orange County]; in August 1887 removed to Burlington [Chittenden County] and formed copartnership with Hon. E. R. HARD; copartner of Hon. Edmund C. MOWER 1896-1900. Republican; city grand juror 1888-1890; states attorney for Chittenden County 1890-1894; elected professor of medical jurisprudence in medical department University of Vermont 1895, and elected annually ever since; city attorney 1896-1898; commissioner of taxes of Vermont 1900 to present time; delegate to International Tax Conference in 1909, 1910, and 1911. Past master of Washington Lodge No. 3, Free & Accepted Masons, of Burlington, and member of Ethan Allen Club. In 1882 he [Judson E. CUSHMAN] married [Miss?] Nina L.
