Washington BRAGG, Azro D. Men of Vermont: Illustrated Biographical History of Vermonters & Sons of Vermont. Ullery. Brattleboro: Transcript Publishing Company, 1894, p 40 (portrait p 40) Azro D. BRAGG, of Fayston [Washington County, Vermont], born 25 November 1834 in Warren [Washington County, Vermont], was the son of William and Chloe (BUCK) BRAGG. His father being crippled from rheumatism when Azro was a young lad, he took charge of the farm, manifesting even at that age the energy, self-reliance and perseverance that has made him a successful man. He has passed most of his life in the town of Fayston. Here he occupies himself with dairying and stock raising. From a fine sugar orchard of two thousand trees he sends to the West large quantities of maple syrup each season. Mr. BRAGG is an active Republican and has attended as delegate every county convention but two for the last thirty years; represented Fayston in the Legislature 1870-1871, besides holding many town offices. He was four years Master of Waitsfield Grange, Patrons of Husbandry, is a member of the International Order of Good Templars, and was for six years superintendent of the Methodist Episcopal Sabbath school of Waitsfield and Fayston. On 09 January 1855 he [Azro D. BRAGG] was married to Anna B., daughter of John C. and Lydia (BIXBY) GRIGGS. They have had five children: (1) Francis A.; (2) Emily L., who died in 1881; (3) Hattie E., Mrs. G. F. AINSWORTH, of Minneapolis [Hennepin County, Minnesota]; (4) William C.; and (5) an infant son, who died in 1862. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
